When choose the type tool in CS6 on my mac I get an error message "Could not complete your request because a required text resources file is missing." Any help to get it all back to normal would be great:)
Done Font Book checks and restores then I performed a font check and PS crashed.

Hi all,
I am having some serious issues with Photoshop CC and have alread lost a few days of work to a random bug. I have spent the whole day working on Photoshop to try and catch up on the lost work.
I was saving the PSD, closed the document and then tried to reopen it to make a quick change and I got this error: "Could not complete your request because the required resources were not found.". I am now unable to open the PSD.
Has anyone ever seen this and does anyone know if there is a way of resolving the problem?
Any help would be much appreciated.

LeighI found a hack-y way to work around this problem without losing work!
So I discovered fairly quickly that this is an unsolved problem that NO ONE can explain the cause of. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to save your layers without losing progress.
Convert ALL of your layers to a Smart Object.
Right-click on the Smart Object
Click "Export Contents..."
This opens up a Save As... Window, with your file name .PSB
Name & Save.
I then quit Photoshop CS, re-opened, and had all of my layers, folders, and effects intact. The only problem was that my Canvas was as large as my biggest layer (extending beyond my original canvas). Just find the original background layer (or one that originally filled your canvas), Select it (Command + Click on the Layer thumbnail), and Crop it (Image > Crop).

Hi, the last months was a APPLE ISSUE FESTIVAL i think, well, 2 months ago I have installed Photoshop CS2 on my macbookpro intel with 10.5.2, after update and upgrade system , quicktime and another things, Photoshop not open anymore, when I try to open this message appears :
Could not complete your request because certain required files were not found in the Adobe photoshop Cs Required folder. Please reinstall Photoshop to restore these files...
I reinstall and and reinstall and reinstall and nothing work, I'm thinking seriously in work with GIMP or Mac cinepaint. Any ideas??????? This problem is in Windowz XP too. Aperture: When trying to open in external editor I get this warning when going to Photoshop CS6: Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered. I can export and open via Photoshop or open directly from file-just not through external editor. Gerry

Photoshop CS5.1 Extended: Could not complete your request because there are too many Files Open
I saved a file last night and now this morning I get an error message stating: "Photoshop CS5.1 Extended: Could not complete your request because there are too many Files Open. Try closing some windows and try again.". I've rebooted the system and made sure Photoshop was the only program running and that there were no other files open prior to trying to open my file. I increased Photoshops ram usage, checked the OpenGL settings, 3D and VRAM settings, cleared my temp files and am at a loss for opening this file.
System Specs:
Win 7 64
6 core I7 processor
32gb Ram
3GB VRAM
600gb free space on 7200 rpm drive
File specs:
1 3D object replicated maybe 5 times (yes, I should have rasterized them, and will do that to 4 of them if I get the file open)
Maybe 8 textures
Not sure how many total layers.
Is there anyway to get Photoshop to reopen this file?No, more VRAM is useless. I had the same thought as you so I tried with a friend's computer with 3GB of VRAM for 8GB RAM (mine has 1GB VRAM for 16GB RAM). Still got the same error message. Sorry guys but our files are lost until Adobe fix the error in Photoshop code. I hope in the future they will find a way to either fix this error or give a clear limitation, it is really a shame such a dangerous problem exists and persists for more than 3 photoshop gen.
Still you may be able to have at least a flat image of your latest file by trying to open the file as smart object. I started my work over by doing that. Not a lot but better than nothing.
However for my new file I am trying something different : Each time I think a 3D file is final, I do not rasterize it but make it into a smart object and save the new smart object into a single separated .psd file. If any change is needed I can still edit all of my 3D objects by opening them separately. So far it works, the global file is lighter with few to no 3D objects inside but I will not say it is a 100% no-risk method yet.
Last advice I can give everyone : Before closing the file you are working on, save it as a copy (File / Save as... and check 'As copy' in the options below) then with your main file still open, try to open the copy. You may need a lot of memory if your file is heavy but still if the dreaded error message appears when you try to open the copy then remove or rasterize some 3D objects in your main one. Save again as copy and try to open the copy until you do not get the message anymore. -

I saved a painting I was working on in photoshop for the past week, went to open it up this morning and got the following error: could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered.
I tried opening it up in other programs with no luck. Any suggestions?Probably not good news I'm afraid. Hopefully you use Time Machine to keep regular backups of your work?
Have you tried to open the file in Graphic Converter (shareware application)?
I find file corruption practically non-existant these days. I would suggest that you maintain your machine. This can be done with Onyx http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html. Run all the tasks in the "automation" section of this application.
If you can do a drive check - checking your hard drive for physical issues might also be a good idea. -

I have gotten this error message a few times now. "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered."
My file many layers... a total of 100mgs+. But I work with this kind of file often, so... hmm. It won't open. Is it corrupted? Any way to restore? I can go back in time with our 'time machine program... but that brings me back to having a previous version and many hours of lost work.
I use a Mac OS x 10.5.8, Photoshop version 6 from the 2003 CS suite.

I've been working on a motion file in photoshop for my thesis and i tried opeining it today and it wont let me open the file. it says "could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered".
I've saved the file every 5 minutes or whenever I do work but now i cant even open it at all. I NEED HEEEEEELP PLEASE!If it is in the forums (and actually, all over the place on the web) and it is a Photoshop issue in both Windows and Mac, I just assumed is.
The unexpected eof could be a hardware issue or possibly owed to individual set-ups as it is not an issue that plagues all (or even an ostensible majority of) users.

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem. -

Got this error when trying to open 3 of a large batch of PSDs today.
I have searched the orum and have heard this can be called by RAM errors, hard disk corruption and other terrifying things.
I am wondering what I can do to retrieve this file, as there are no backups of the many many revisions made to these files.
Extremely greatful for anyone who can advise
On another note, how do I test if my RAM is faulty in 10.6?

So the image could be corrupt, but still show thumbnails and some metadata.
Most likely, the file is trashed.
Now you need to work out HOW the file got trashed (network server, bad disk, bad utilities, etc.) -

I read on one of these formus that I should uninstall and reinstall the program.
I tried to uninstall the program and it told me to use the Adobe Application Manager.
Adobe Application Manager failed and it told me to download the Adobe Support Advisor.

I followed the instructions it gave me to correct this issue:

(Windows XP) Choose Start > Run, type regedit in the Open text box and click OK.
(Windows Vista/ Windows 7) Choose Start, type regedit in the Search box, and press Enter.
Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager.
Delete the InProgress key.
I was not able to find the "InProgress" key. -

I keep getting the following error message when trying to use the 3D component of CS6:
"Could not complete your request because 3D functionality is currently disabled due to OpenGL being disabled."
Well, that's not the case. I have Use Graphics Processor checked and Advanced selected for Drawing Mode. The other OpenGL features and enhancements are working fine. I cannot however import, create or manipulate 3D objests without getting the above error message. Any ideas?

You are instructing Ps to load 2 separate and non-compatible 3D engines when you do this. Never point additional plug-in paths to older Ps versions; it only causes problems. If you have 3rd party plug-ins that you wish to load in mulitple versions of Ps, then either reinstall them for each Ps version, or install them to a distinct custom directory away from the Ps installed plug-ins.

I read on one of these formus that I should uninstall and reinstall the program.
I tried to uninstall the program and it told me to use the Adobe Application Manager.
Adobe Application Manager failed and it told me to download the Adobe Support Advisor.
Adobe Support Advisor told me that there was an issue:" cpsid_82829s1: "A restart is pending," bootstrapper error has occurred. " Token Number: 40-87772-063201122012
I followed the instructions it gave me to correct this issue:
If you receive the error "Installer has detected that a machine restart is pending. It is recommended that you quit the installer, restart try again," do the following:
Restart the computer and try the installation again.
If the installation fails, delete the InProgress registry key:

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager.
Delete the InProgress key.
I was not able to find the "InProgress" key.

I get this error when trying to open "obj" files exported in various 3D programs. I looked up a few similar questions about this error message but the don't seem to relate to me since this installation of PS is new and I never had a previous version on this computer. Also, I tried a somewhat newer and better video card than I had before and I'm still getting this error message.

Just got "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
I tried opening a clients TIF file about 30 minutes ago and after it opened in Photoshop, I got a box that says "Could not complete your request because of a program error"
I hit OK and it pops back up. Over and over and over and over. I shut down everything and rebooted. Same thing after the reboot. I force quit Photoshop and tried opening some other little JPG file. Same error after it opened.
I have not upgraded anything recently. Not sure what to do. At this point, Photoshop just wont work with ANY files. HALP!
