Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personal information.

After installing Photoshop Elements in osx 10.6.4 I try to launch and receive the error "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personal information." I have deleted and re-installed with the same results.

  • Error: Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personal information

I'm using photoshop 7.0 with windows Vista and I keep getting that error message when I try to launch the program. I lost my cd. Is there a work around to fix this issue beside reinstalling application?

Your best bet would be going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features and double-clicking Adobe Photoshop. It has a "Repair" and an "Uninstall" button, so maybe you can try clicking "Repair" and it won't ask for a CD? Make sure you have backups of your settings and extensions if possible!
Other than uninstalling the program altogether, I can't think of any other way to fix Photoshop without it starting up first. Good luck!

  • I have an existing disk of elements 3 which I loaded onto my Mac desktop.  When loading onto my Mac book, I receive a "could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information". Why?

I have loaded elements 3, from disk, on my mac desktop, when loading onto my macbook i get a message "could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information".  Why?

Thank you for your fast reply!
Sorry, I am not savvy enough to know what a serial is!  Guess that means stealing it.  No, that is not me.
    Hmm...
I thought sure it was free with the computer, along with a whole package of other stuff.  It was a sale/special.  Everything else still works, except the Photoshop.  I bought the Mac new at the Mac store in Marin County...
Maybe it came with the printer I bought too...? Who knows now.
The computer is several years old (copyright 1983)  and I had money then!  LOL!  It's the economy, my dear!
Do not understand 'software'... I just use the computer. I told you I am a technophobe!
You must be young:  I am very old, and did not grow up with computers.
But now from your reply, I think it must have been a free sample, or whatever...  or I am confused!
I have IPhoto... that must be what came free with the Mac.  But it doesn't work either.  I get a message: need to upgrade, but then it says it is not responding...
    Anyway, thanks again!
P.S.   As I said, I had everything stolen, and do not have any registration info.
    But I appreciate your reply.

  • Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid user personalization information on Vista?

I recently tried to install PhotoShop CS4 on a Vista machine.  I could not get it to activate, found out from Adobe that it was a bad serial number.  So, I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall my good old standby - Creative Suite 1.0.  This has worked for YEARS!
Now, I get the error "could not complete your request because of missing or invalid user personalization information" when I try to launch PhotoShop 8.0.  All other applications of the Creative Suite are working.  There is no serial number posting in the window of PhotoShop when I launch it.
I am sure it is something in the registry.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times with no success.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you,
    Jennifer

You need to run the CS4 clean script to remove traces of the installation.

  • Error Message - "could not complete your request because the preset contains invalid data"

I am trying to open a file, and every time I do it comes up with the following error message:
"Could not complete your request because the preset contains invalid data"
I am using Photoshop CS4 on a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.2.
    I have tried:
    - restarting my mac
    - opening different files created at different times
    - deleting photoshop from my app folder and the app support folder from my /username/library/application support/adobe/ folder and copied them back from a Time Machine backup from a few days ago.
I was using Photoshop all day today with absolutely no problems. I have searched Google and this forum and have come up short. No one has this exact error anywhere.
Any help? Thanks so much in advance!

The one thing you didn't do is reset your Photoshop preferences.
Most likely the preferences got corrupted, and reference a corrupt preset.

  • How do I fix "Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"?

Could not complete your request because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found
The above messagecomes up on a lot of my photoshop files that have been recovered from a damaged disk - can this be fixed?
    Thanks, Phil.

That's a pretty good indication that the data inside the files is corrupted.
You *might* be able to get some of the image back by opening it in different tools that can open JPEGs.  But very likely none will be able to recover all the image data perfectly.
Check Irfan View as a viewer with some resiliency for opening corrupted files.

  • Could not complete your request because a required text resources file is missing.

When choose the type tool in CS6 on my mac I get an error message "Could not complete your request because a required text resources file is missing." Any help to get it all back to normal would be great:)

Done Font Book checks and restores then I performed a font check and PS crashed.

  • Photoshop CS4: Could not complete your request because of a program error.

    Hello,
I find myself in an interesting dilemma. I've had CS4 for a bunch of years now and have loved it. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro's hard drive crashed a month or so back. Luckily, I have been using an external hard drive to back up my computer, so when it crashed, I lost very little in comparisson to some horror stories I've heard.
My Ps was able to retuned to my new hard drive with virtually no problems. However, the error "Could not complete your request because of a program error" shows up in rapid succession 5-10 times after I select the text tool. Interestingly enough, if I weather that storm, I'm able to use all the fonts, actions, etc. with no problems. Originally, it was simply a nuissance that I dealt with, but it's beginning to hamper my work, especially today when I was on deadline.
Doing some research and reading around the web and given the most culpable reason seems to be something wrong with a font, but I don't know which font I'm missing, need to update, whatever.
So here's my question: how do I get this thing to go away? Is there some file or something like that buried in a backup that I didn't bring over to the new hard drive that's causing the problem. At first, I was just happy to have the thing working after the crash, but it's getting pretty annoying.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I don't know which fonts came from where, to be honest. It's kind of a mix of whatever I've done over the past 5+ years, if that makes sense.
I'm perfectly fine deleting all the fonts and reinstalling just the ones needed for PsCS4 if there's a file of that.

  • "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

I am using the latest version of Photoshop CC. When I attempt to open a recent .psd file listed in the Open Recent list, I get the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." I can use the open command to open these files with no problem. The files are not damaged or missing the .psd extension and open normally except when using the Open Recent menu. OS is Mac 10.8.5. Thanks for any clues as to a fix.

As weid as it may sound: simply don't use "Open recent...". Use Bridge to manage, find and start them in PS.

  • Adobe Photoshop Could not complete your request because of a program error

I brought home a Photoshop CC file from work to work on at home. It opened fine, other than some missing fonts which I then installed. I worked on the file for a while and then went to "Save As" a new version. I got a dialog box saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." I tried "Save" instead of "Save As" and got the same result. I tried saving it to different locations, but I keep getting the same error message. I have been using Photoshop CC for almost a year now and have never had this problem. Does anyone have a fix?
The software is Adobe Photoshop CC v14.2.1 x64, and the OS is 10.7.4. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Did you reset your Preferences and Photoshop tools.  Photoshop Preferences are not removed with an un-install and an Install does not install preferences.  Preferences are created  for a user id when a user ID start Photoshop  and there are no preferences for the user ID.

  • Error:  "Could not complete your request because of a program error" (photoshop CS2 9.0.2 on MAC OSX

Today I started my program (photoshop CS2 9.0.2) and opened a JPG file. When I went to print the file the program crashed and closed. When I restarted the program and went to open the file I got this error message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
I have tried several different file types/sizes and all result in the same error message since the program crashed. It will not open any file I try to open. As I indicated above I am using Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 it is on a MAC with OSX 10.4.11.
I called Adobe and the Rep directed me to Tech Note 331307 and told me to Re-create the Photoshop preferences files. Which I did and restarted the program, but when I tried to open a file (any file) I still get the same error message so it doesn't appear to be the preferences.
Does anyone have any info as to what the problem may be and how to correct it.
    Thanks

Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.

  • I keep getting a message saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

I keep getting a message saying ( Could not complete your request because of a program error??
Does anyone know what this means or how to fix?

    blucoast,
Can you please be more detailed? When are you getting this - what is causing it? Any specific tool or while starting Photoshop itself?
Do you see an error number or error code or a report? Can you post that here?

  • Effects not working? "Could not complete your request because of a program error?"

Hey guys&gals - I have always had this problem when working in RGB/CYMK modes - can anyone help me with that?
More more importantly, now I am getting in in Grayscale mode as of this morning.
I run Photoshop 6 V 13.1.2 x64 and just updated it this AM.
Effects are crucial for my job, so I need this fixed asap!!
I have tried the ctrl, alt, shift start up to no avail. Restarted, shutdown my PC as well.
    Please advise!
    Thanks,
    blaqgranitelaser

Found the places I was supposed to - now what? Photoshop isn't crashing... doesn't give me any info other than a box saying "Could not complete your request because of a program error." And I have no choice but to click OK. This only happens when I try to use the layer effects in any color mode. Originally it was only in RGB/CMYK but now also happens in Grayscale.
I'm not technologically savvy - I know what programs I use, but that is all.

  • Can't open file: "Could not complete your request because of a program error"

I have a Photoshop file that suddenly won't open.  Last week I upgraded to CS5--the file had been created in CS3 prior to that.  When I try to open it, I receive this error message (in CS5): "Could not complete your request because of a program error."  I tried to open the same file in CS3; there, the file opens, but as soon as I try to do anything I get the same error message....which, annoyingly, re-appears the second I click "OK," so the only thing I can do in CS3 is force-quit.
I've used Time Machine to retrieve versions of the file that were saved four days ago, seven days, and several weeks ago, and I get the same message every time.  Even on versions that were last saved with CS3 (before I installed CS5).
Naturally, this is one of the most important files in my life right now....it's a 300 MB file that contains hundreds of layers and dozens of comps.  So the fact that I suddenly can't open it, after shelling out $1200 to upgrade to the latest and greatest Adobe has to offer, is, to say the least, distressing.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    TheWocky

First thing I would do is investigate hard drive issues and the health of the OS.
