'Could not complete your request due to program error '

Hello.
I’ve had this error box [Could not complete your request because of a program error] pop up consistently with one photoshop document in particular today. Though this error has been a problem in the past, closing and opening the programme seemed to fix it. However today I’ve tried that and have uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop. I’ve also reset my preferences. Nothing has worked.
I’ve found that this error normally appears when the file has timeline keyframes in it. This leads to being unable to open the file, or if the file is open I am unable to export the video due to program error or am unable to save the file due to program error.
I’m running Photoshop cc 2014.2.1 x64 on Mac OS X 10.10.1
Photoshop has all of the most recent updates installed.
Below is all text from the PSErrorLog.txt document:

  • Photoshop CC 2014, "Could not complete your request b/c program error"

I've not seen this since the early CS days, and generally found Photoshop CC to be extremely stable.
However since starting to use CC 2014, I've had this happen six times - not in a row, just at random occasions doing completely unrelated things.
Exactly three times it's happened on PC1, and three times on PC2.
    PC1
    980X i7, 24GB RAM, Quadro K5000 (332.76)
    PC2
    Xeon x2, 128GB RAM, Titan Black x2 (337.88)
Both installed on SSDs, with external SSD scratch drives (plenty space free).
I figured it may be prefs migrated from CC, but PC2 is a clean install (and no cloud syncing, it's just running in trial mode at the moment) so I guess I can cross that out. Also there don't appear to be any posts reporting this since CS6, which makes it a bit strange that I get it happening on two unrelated installs.
So, being at a loss, does anyone else have any idea why this might be happening?
    Cheers

Thanks for your reply, as it means I can post one of my own - I was
logged out immediately after posting my AdobeID wasn't being recognised
so I couldn't edit my own post to add more detail...so I can now, but
anyway don't get my started on that.
So yes I know more information is needed. As for searching for
vagueries, there's a big difference between "Blue Sky" (very good anime
movie) and "Forum poster ate my dog and spat it back in my face,
    site:adobe.com".
Here are the specific events in order, over a period of the past week:
    1. Selecting a layer.
    2. Pasting a 512x512 image from clipboard into a layer
    3. Dragging an image from disk to the canvas
    4. Selecting a layer
    5. Trying to apply guassian blur filter (error on selecting the panel.
    6. Selecting a path.
This is in Windows 8.1, working on RGB 8bit/channel documents with a
reasonable number of layers (>50,nested). There's nothing special about
the documents, no TypeKit fonts or Smart/Linked Objects (exception being
#3, trying to drag an image from desktop to the active doc).
All documents affected were less than 4,000 x4000 pixels, and the errors
only affected the active document - other open documents could be saved,
    even edited, and closed safely.

  • I cannot open Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor. I am working on a Mac. I get this message: "Could not complete your request because of program error". If I am in Organizor, that message will have a black box below it that says "Loading the Adobe Photoshop

I was using the program yesterday.  I am just learning the program. I learned to download pictures by opening I-Photo and directing the edit process to Elements Editor. Then I stored the pictures in a album in Organizer. This morning when I turned the program on, I received the message above.

    Oh, dear.
If you use PSE as your external editor for iphoto, you need to save the images back to iphoto by using Save, not Save As and not changing anything like the name or format that would bring up the Save As window. (You may need to adjust the editor prefs>saving files>on first save to save over existing.)
OR you can export the photos from iphoto to the desktop, use file>open in the editor and then change whatever you want and either import the saved image to the organizer or import it back to iphoto as a new file. What you are doing is extremely risky, particularly to the iphoto library which you may easily damage by your workflow.
I would start the organizer holding down the shift key, then create a new catalog and switch to the new one. Then try opening the editor without opening an image and see if you get any farther.
PSE and iphoto are not designed to be used as you've been doing. You are trying to write to the iphoto library from outside iphoto, which is the fastest known way to corrupt the library and lose all your photos.

  • Problem with FX (CS6) "Could not complete your request due to a program error."

This only happened after I got the master collection. FX effects in Photoshop CS6 do not work, at all. Attempting to use any of them result in the above quoted "Could not complete your request due to a program error."
I've trashed the prefs, uninstalled/reinstalled, updated drivers, REFORMATTED MY HARD DRIVE, contacted customer support, and about every other troubleshoot short of sacraficing a goat. No cigar.
Error log gives me the following:
    " ..\..\sources\UPattern.cpp : 1670 : REQUIRE failed"
    Same error, every time.
    Windows 7, 64x
    16gb DDR3
    AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor [3.61 GHz]
    AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
Not running this 'Suitcase' thing. At a complete loss.

Removing the whole folder worked, which, is good enough for me. I think what happened was a finaggle with the install, as I already had PS installed when I overlayed the master collection on top of it, still doesn't explain it not working after the reformat, might have been linked to my backup/scratch disk in some fashion and broke it. I'm not quite sure how the problem persisted.
Don't install ps over ps, I guess ^^
    Aha, it was Prefs.
Thank you! Greatly, been sitting on this problem for months now, no ammount of Googling would help. I can finally go back to work (that I've been sitting on this whole time).

  • Could not complete your request - But I never asked !

Quite simply, I seem to get periods where my PSE 6 all of a sudden jumps up proclaiming "Could not complete your request because of program error" when I've been doing something in an entirely different application, like an audio editor . .  and not using PSE 6 at all !
    Anybody else get this ?
And if so, is there anything I can do short of a reinstall ?
My install disc is currently among possessions I can't access for awhile these days.
    Thanks !
    -=Dave

    Hmm . .  .
I go to "username>library>preferences" and find Photoshop Elements 3.0 Paths & Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings !, But no 6 ?!
I did indeed have PSE 3, but it's stashed away in a folder within applications, certainly not open or in the dock.
And Opera preferences is full of mostly empty folders.
Hang on ! . . . I just found that PSE 6 Paths & settings are listed as Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 Paths, so they're there as well.
    I may be confused now.

  • "could not complete your request because of a program error", PDF format, cs2, xp

    1. When edit picture from pdf (from acrobat 7.0.8) in photoshop cs2 901, source pdf can't be saved after closing image in photoshop.
    2. When opening picture in photoshop pdf format, program return "could not complete your request because of a program error". Pdf is saved from same photoshop on same machine.
What is that with cs2? I have buy 24 tlp licenses cs2 premium packets and i can't work like in previous version? This is big disapointed for me from adobe.
How i can resolve above problems?
OS is legal xp with all s. packs.

...this problem is frustrating me now, running intel mac, 10.4.9, PShop 9.02, tried everything without a solution yet, my program error occurs right on launch, change a preference, leave it running in the background, then the icon in my dock starts bouncing at me for attention...
...boot from cd and run disk utility - failed
...trashing all preferences and settings - failed
    ...re-install pshop, update to 9.02 - failed
...boot in safe mode, start pshop and quit, reboot normal mode, start pshop - failed
...recreated printers in printer set up - failed
...program errors occur when software conflicts arise due to an updated operating system.
...so the conclusion i have come up with is it's (according to adobe, apples problem for updating the operating system, and according to apple, adobes problem for updating Pshop), the problem being it is always someone elses problem...
...rosetta has a few issues I'm sure with CS2, not sure adobe want us running CS2 in rosetta really, perhaps we'll all get annoyed enough eventually to have to get the CS3 instead...
...sod the 9.02 update, uninstall it, reinstall and update to 9.01...
    ...works fine...
...except for illustrator cs2 that is, he is quite happy crashing in the background too...
...making quark xpress on rosetta look fantastic. what a headache for everyone...
...this post might sound intolerable, as it goes i'm very tolerable, my boss ain't though waltzing round wandering why he spends his money on this stuff, well, customers money really...

  • Error:  "Could not complete your request because of a program error" (photoshop CS2 9.0.2 on MAC OSX

Today I started my program (photoshop CS2 9.0.2) and opened a JPG file. When I went to print the file the program crashed and closed. When I restarted the program and went to open the file I got this error message, "Could not complete your request because of a program error".
I have tried several different file types/sizes and all result in the same error message since the program crashed. It will not open any file I try to open. As I indicated above I am using Photoshop CS2 9.0.2 it is on a MAC with OSX 10.4.11.
I called Adobe and the Rep directed me to Tech Note 331307 and told me to Re-create the Photoshop preferences files. Which I did and restarted the program, but when I tried to open a file (any file) I still get the same error message so it doesn't appear to be the preferences.
Does anyone have any info as to what the problem may be and how to correct it.
    Thanks

Thanks for the response. OK... This is the first day I have been able to get back to the problem.
My system I am running Photoshop on is a Power Mac G4, AGP Graphics ATY Rage 128Pro chip set 16MB VRAM LCD 1280x1024 32-bit color, 500MHz, 1.75GB of memory, 1 MB L2 Cache, 100 MHz Bus Speed. I had installed the latest security update and repaired the permissions the day the problem started.
Now to day I started the system and went in and created a Guest Account. I logged into the guest account and started Photoshop. Low and behold it worked just fine. So I logged out of guest and logged into my main user account And started Photoshop. Wouldn't you know it.... It works just fine. I can open any file I want with now problems.
I got to thinking after I had done all of this that I wished I had tried to open a file in Photoshop today prior to creating the guest account to see if it still had the problem in my main user account.
I did not change anything else on the system and all seems to work fine now. So at his point I am really not sure what the problem was.
Again thanks for taking the time to respond to this issue.
