Could not copy "Trash" to the iPhone...
I'm getting the following error messages:
"iTunes could not copy "Trash" to the iPhone <user name's iPhone) because the file could not be read or written."
along with
"Attempting to copy to the disk <user name> failed. Disc could not be read from or written to."
Any suggestions?
This happens time to time with me for some reason. So frustrating there inst a better way that iTunes response to it. Once the failure to copy and the other errors come up, you have to unhook the iDevice and close and reopen iTunes. Sometimes you have to kill the application if it is hung.
Then, go into the sync settings and UNCHECK all media. Sync. Then go to the summary page and check "only sync checked songs and videos" and go to MUSIC and check ONE album. Sync. Repeat this one by one until you get the error. then uncheck the album that caused the error and repeat. Very very annoying but the only way i have gotten this to solve.

I recently downloaded a few episodes from the iTunes store through my iPhone. All episodes worked fine until I synced my phone with my Mac. After reorganizing some music, I found that I had to place all the tv shows back into the phone. However two episodes would not sync. The error messages:
iTunes could not copy "file" to the "iPhone" because the file could not be read or written.
Attempting to copy to the disk "iPhone" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to.
Syncing everything else works perfectly fine. I am under the impression that these two video files are corrupt. What's strange is that they worked perfectly fine when I downloaded them directly on my iPhone. The "corrupted" videos DO play on iTunes, but they will freeze. I have to skip over that particular time in order to play the video.
So my question(s):
Are my files corrupt? How would I go about to fix this issue? Is there anyway I can place the SD versions of the videos instead the HD ones (Given that it's even possible)? I would hate to spend money again to re-download these episodes because I was provided with incomplete files.This happens time to time with me for some reason. -iTunes version 10.6.3 64-bit.
-Happening since os x update 10.7.4. No issues with os x 10.7.3.
-It will look like it's sync'ing the song both on the mac and the phone, but it's greyed out on the phone where it shows the progress of the song coming over. It will then give the above error after about 5 minutes. Can't play the same song through itunes on the mac as well. It will play for a milisecond then hang iTunes and at other times the entire macbook pro so I need to hard shutdown. About 500 songs out of 6000 so far I've found the issue. Doesn't seem to be any from the itunes store, just cd's I've ripped onto my mac but I'm not positive on that as I can't test all songs with the time it takes to reboot (found the 500 by trying to sync all songs and having itunes random pick them). Also noticed that on a single album most songs will be fine but then others have the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
ChuckOk, so I dont think that I have ever been more mad at a program than I am right now. So I had about 120 songs on my iPhone that I all bought myself, but about 80 of them were on my computer. So I imported them into my iTunes library then I tryed to sync all my music back on; including the other forty songs. But when I did that, all of the 80 songs wouldnt sync. They work perfectly fine on iTunes, but they will just not sync! I have tried dragging them into playlists and everything. I am not new to iTunes, and I completely understand why people steal music and jailbreak their devices. All the stupid copyright laws and sharing stuff mixed with a poorly written program makes everything so difficult! I completely understand why people try to root their iphone and manually drag the songs on, because there isn't something saying "no! don't do that! Even though you bought the song you can't do that!" If Apple was so concerned with copyright, then they should really try to fix iTunes and make it easier for people to use, because otherwise, they are really turning people away from paying for their music. I know quite a bit about computers and have been around, and if iTunes is messing with me, I am positive that it would be insanely confusing for an old person, or someone who just wants to put music on their iPod and doesnt want to deal with all this stuff that he has no idea about. Well, sorry about the huge long complaint, but it is so annoying, and I am sure that many people will agree with what I just said! Oh and if anyone does have advice, feel free to let me know. Thanks.

Since 2 updates I started getting iTunes could not back up the iPhone 'my IPhone' because a session could not be started with the iPhone. This is happening with my iPad and iPhone. I see hundreds of complains on this issue starting from last year and obviously Apple has no clue how to solve this error. I went through the solutions and spend over an hour deleting backups resetting lockdown, restarting and nothing is working. Are they serious to ask us to disconnect all other USB devices to sync our equipment everyday to solve their problem? iTunes is the worst program I have seen on the market in the past 10 years. It reminds me of DOS programs that could only do one item at a time. You click a command and just wait and wait and wait. Of course they want me to call customer service, wait for x time to talk to tech support and then spend more time. I don't have the time. I spent a lot of money to get an equipment that should work as advertised and not spend further my valuable time. I have reached my limit with Apple and that crap iTunes. I'm calling for a divorce.

I have just updated to iTunes 10.7.(oh it just scrolled off the screen give me 5 minutes for it to come back again) 10.7.0.21 - the latest version
I run Win7 64bit & during installation i got the blue-screen of death & windows crashed
I went to apple website & downloaded iTunes manually & installed (it tried to install in the (x86) folder as usual, so i forced it into the 64 bit program folder like i always have to do.
It now runs fine but when ever i sync in get the error "iTunes could not back up the '' iPhone because a session could not be started with the iPhone"
I have tried deleting the existing backup as suggested in the forums but that didn't solve the problem, and now i have no backups at all
I have restarted the iPhone & the computer but the error is still the same.
PS i have "Encypt local backup" selected, if i try to unselect that option at the moment it says my password is incorrect, my password is correct, i made a record of it & know exactly what password i used but iTunes is saying it is wrong, is this because i have no backups at the moment or is iTunes completely broken
I have also tried to backup to iCloud as a temporary measure but it says i don't have enough space so must buy some!

I've tried turning the phone off and back on, & tried both USB ports but get the same thing. What can I do next since it doesn't give me even one clue as to what the error would be?
Before I started to resync calendars one by one as suggested in the troubleshooting article, I remembered something that came up in a sync when I first attempted : a 'which one do you want to keep' message about a repeating calendar event, which came up with three options, one from Calendar, and two from iCal on the phone. I deleted that event, then went through the calendar resync one by one, and all seems OK now.
In Music there is a way to find 'ghost' items that show up as grayed-out on the menus, so that you can try to reassociate or delete them. It would be nice to have a similar way to work with Calendar!

Recently I sent my iPhone 5 to apple service centre as my phone could not turn on and stuck at apple logo. The technician use DFU restore and successfully reboot my phone. However, all my data and content are being erased. Now I tied to restore from my back up using iTunes 12.1.0.71 with iPhone 5 iOS 8.1.3, error message pop up. itunes could not restore the iphone because a session could not be started with the iphone. However, I still can sync my iPhone to iTunes. I am so frustrated as I need to get all my contact back from my previous back up. Please help. Thanks.

Recently, I have been experiencing some problems with iTunes and my iPad 2. Whenever I try to sync movies into my iPad, I get the error message ''iTunes could not copy ''file'' because the file could not be written''. This message always appears whenever I try to sync a few movies at once. When I check my iPad after it's synced, I find that a few of my movies successfully sync into my iPad, and can be played. However, some movies show up on my iPad but cannot be played. The video thumbnail just shows a picture of a blank TV screen. Is there any way where I can fix this problem? Thanks.

I was having the same issue with music and movies but it had been ok before. The sync would freeze on a random file and then i had to take out the USB cable to clear it. After trying all sorts of things i saw someone mentioning about Anti virus and firewalls. I am using McAfee so i disabled it as a test. After this i could sync music and movies without issue!!!!! So in my case the firewall/anti virus was causing a problem. McAfee updates itself a lot so I am guessing something has happened in a recent update that impacted iTunes.I am not sure if this kind of thing is also causing your problem but it sounds very familiar.

So, I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.5. I am syncing it using iTunes version 10.4.1 running on a MacBookPro running Mac OSX 10.7.1.
When I do a sync it runs through the usual steps, including the step where it says it is syncing calendars, and each step appears to complete in the iTunes window. However, as it finishes, a warning message appears saying "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone "ABC" because the iPhone disconnected". Here's a screen grab of the error message:-
Now, the phone has not physically disconnected. I'm a bit baffled by this. It is a new iPhone 4, but inital syncs were performed without any difficulty. I have tried inserting a TEST event, to make sure that there is in fact a difficulty with the sync, and I can confirm that the error is not a phantom; syncs are not taking place. In additon, I have tried (albeit not methodically) to vary the particular calendars that are to sync, and the sync settings around old events, but to no avail.
Any suggestions for trouble shooting this would be gratefully received.
