I've had the same problem when I installed the latest version of SQL developer (1.2.1.32.13) on a machine that still had an older, working version. My problem went away when I changed from an IP name to an IP address. on the connection setup window.

You need to ask your network admin folk to check your PC and ensure that it is correctly configured for IP networking for your network - valid IP address, valid IP subnet mask, etc.
You can look at your existing IP configuration in Windows by opening a command console and typing the command "+ipconfig+".
Once that is done, you need to test connectivity between your PC and the database server. You need the IP address of the server for that and use the "+ping+" command to see if you get a ping echo response from the server.
If you configure your Oracle client software (e.g. +%ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora+ ) to use a hostname and not IP address, you need to make sure that your PC's IP stack can resolve that hostname into an IP address. Once again the "+ping+" command can be used, but this time using the hostname instead. The output will show the IP address the hostname resolved to.
All these are basic networking issues - and have nothing really to do with Oracle itself. You first need to get the networking to work on your PC, before attempting to use Oracle client-server.

  • Network Adapter could not establish connection during installation

    Hi,
I'm trying to install html db v10.2.0.1 and http server on the Fedora Core 4 platform and am getting a "Network Adapter could not establish connection during installation" error. This occurs after pressing Next at on the Specify HTML DB Database Details dialog box. Note that I'm not new to oracle databases or html db. I can't seem to find a similar thread on this forum related to the html db v2 install and I've read the FAQ related to the installation, making sure that I unset the TNS_ADMIN and ORACLE_HOME environment variables before launching the installer. I also checked that I can connect to the database via the listener, sqlplus sys@database as sysdba. I checked the listener status:

  • FTPOpen Data Connection: Could not establish connection

I need to transfer data files from a local directory to a remote system via FTP.
I can open an FTP connection, login and list existing files at the remote location. I even tried to rename files at the remote location, it works.
Trying to sen files to the remote location using the FTPPutFile.vi causes an error "FTPOpen Data Connection: Could not establish connection".
Any idea, what causes that error?
    Thank you in advance,
    Andreas Langer

That's very peculiar that this should be happening, as it obviously sounds as though you have already established a connection. Have you tried running any example VIs? This is usually where I start to debug a problem. It shows me whether my code is wrong or something else (which is hopefully the issue).
I found a good example for you on NI's website which makes a call to both "Get File" and "Put File". It ran successfully for me. You may want to see if it gives you the same errors.
It's currently configured for an FTP server which I use, so you'll want to change its connection, but that's available through the front panel. Let me know how it works for you.

  • SSRS Report Server Could not establish connection. The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS Secure channel

    Hi
Had to un-install and then re-install MS SQL Server 2012 with SSRS.
After we re-installed we are able to get to the Web Services page but not the Report Server page and get the above error message. We need to use SSL and when we bind the cert in RS Configuration Manager it says it does this successfully on the WebServices
tab. We also do a similar exercise on the ReportServer page.
    Any help warmly welcomed :D
    Thanks

    Hi Rich Whight,
According to your description, after you re-installed SQL Server 2012 with SSRS, you are able to access Web Service URL, but when you tried to access Report Manager URL, the error occurred: The underlying connection was closed. Could not establish trust
relationship for the SSL/TLS Secure channel.
The issue may be caused when the certificate isn't installed correctly in the trusted root for the local computer. To verify and install the certificate, Please refer to the steps blow:
    In RsReportServer.config file(default location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer), change the “SecureConnectionLevel” element value from 0 to 3.
Add correct value to <UrlRoot> element.
Add the same value to the <ReportServerUrl> element as step2.
Go to Microsoft management Console, add the certificate which you use to access the report server under “Trusted Root Certification Authorities”.
For more information about SSL configuration and Managing Trusted Root Certificates, please refer to the following documents:

  • The network adapter could not establish connection

    I encounter a strange problem:
I use a java application compiled JDK1.3 to access Oracle 8.1.5 through JDBC driver class111.zip, everything is ok. But after I modify it to JSP and put this JSP into iPlanet Web Server to do same thing, the error message as title occur. Why?
Your any hints or helps are highly appreciated. Thanks.

i had quite the same pb:
it was because when i was connecting to my db, i was using SQL plus and i didn't have to give the name of the machine, just user, pass and instance
but with the driver i had to give the name of the machine,
so check in Tnsnames.ora if you are giving the good machine name...
i don't know if it helps...

  • The Network Adaptor could not establish the connection while deploying

    Hi All,
I am using oracle db 9.2.0.7 and OWB 9.2.0.4. When I am trying to deploy the object on remote database using owb deployment manager, it is failing to deploy object and giving an error "The Network Adaptor Could Not establish connection."
When I am trying to connect using SQL+, it is connecting as well as I can create the objects and all but the same thing I am trying to do using OWB, it is giving me an error.
What I understand is if there is something wrong with the tnsnames or listner, then it should give an error with sql+ as well. I have also check the c:\windows\system32\driver\etc\hosts which includes the ipaddress and host name.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    -Mehul

    Hi,
are You using 2 different Oracle Homes (one for OWB and one with main Oracle software)
If so, may be that the TNSNAMES.ORA in the OWB Oracle Home is not correctly configured.
    Please check or clarify that
    Hope this helps

  • BI Publisher can not establish connection to SQL Server.

    Hi,
We are trying to create a connection from BI Publisher to SQL Server database. However, we are getting a message 'Could not establish connection'. We tried to google to find a solution.
We are not sure what the problem is. We can ping to the SQL Server machine from the BI Application Server.
Apparently it looks like the required JDBC Driver files are missing. We are using OBIEE version 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.6.0. How do we know whether or not we have the correct JDBC driver file? And also, where we should copy the JDBC driver/jar files to.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks and regards,
    Manoj.

    Hi Parham,
    Thanks for your reply.
The "Use System User" check box is disabled. The default value for 'Database Driver Class' is "hyperion.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver". Should that be correct?
We have SQL Server 2012 but 'Driver Type' shows only two versions of SQL Server - 2005 and 2008.
Folder 'C:\oracle\product\11.1.1\obiee11\wlserver_10.3\server\lib' contains three .dll files: "64sqljdbc.dll", "x64sqljdbc.dll" and "sqljdbc.dll". And "wlsqlserver.jar" is present too in the same folder.
    Any pointers, please?
    Thanks,
    Manoj.

Hi. This is definitely an oracle-only problem, so you should simplify the problem
down to a small standalone program using the oracle thin driver to make a connection.
Once you get this to work, weblogic will also be able to do it. Make sure that
when you try to have weblogic succeed after you can do it with oracle code only,
that the driver you used to succeed with, is ahead of any weblogic jars in
the server classpath. Note that we ship a classes12.zip in our packaging, but
Oracle has since released a newer one (with the same name!) that has some bugs
fixed. Make sure the later one is the one the JVM will pick up.

    Hello,
I have recently installed Weblogic6.1Sp1 server with Weblogic Intergration 2.1
    on solaris 7 and im getting this error when connecting to the database (oracle816.3);
I have changed Oracle drivers and tried many different configurations, with no
luck, Could someone give me some guidance or has anyone encounted this error before.
    Thanks
    Bobby
