Could not load iCloud preference pane.

My calendar is not syncronizing with icloud contacts are just last 2 days. I would also like in increase my storage from my macbook. When I go into preferences icloud I am told  "Could not load iCloud preference pane."
How do I resolve this. My software is up to date 10,9,1
Thanks Bruce

I have a limilar problem.
I suspect it started after the recent notification from Apple that they are enabled 2 steps verification (i recently received this email from Apple "Two-step verification for Apple ID now requires app-specific passwords".)
I am unable to check either iCloud or Internet Accounts.
My Notes Application will crash unexpectedly too, I assume because of the same problem with iCloud.
Help.
I need my notes back.

    Hello
    I have 3 problem.
Could not load Internet Accounts preference pane.
Could not load iCloud preference pane.
I also can't open the Mail application.
I already tried to log in as guest user, I can open everything in guest user. So guest user have no problem.
I also tried to log in in safe mode, nothing was working. So I guess I have problem with the admin user.
I also reinstall the operating system and nothing change.
    Please any help?
    Thank you.
    Hind.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • "Could not load iCloud preference pane." after changing password

I am running a Mac Pro (Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1.
I recently had to change my iTunes (& etc.) password on my iPhone, and since then every so often throughout the day this computer pops up a window saying "this Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem..." and says to open iCloud preferences to fix the problem. When I click on "iCloud Preferences" in the window or go to the system preferences to update the password, I get "Could not load iCloud preference pane." - If I go to the iternet accounts panel and click on iCloud, it wants me to log in, and when I do (with the new password) it says I'm already signed in and "this account already exists". (As an aside, none of the stuff seamlessly connecting the computer and iPhone has worked at all since I upgraded to Yosemite.)
Quite frankly, this is my work computer and I don't care if it's signed in to iCloud at all or if it talks to my phone, as long as my Adobe software works, but getting a popup window throughout the day (usually when I'm right in the middle of something finicky in Photoshop...) is rather annoying! Due to all the issues I'm having, I haven't even attempted to upgrade my laptop to Yosemite yet.
Any suggestions? Either to get everything working correctly, or to get rid of these pop-ups throughout the day? The thing I like about Macs is that they usually just work and stay out of the way, so these issues are perturbing.

    Same problem here.
Yesterday I deleted com.apple.systempreferences from User / Library and it seemed to solve the problem.
However today the problem is back and deleting that file no longer solves it.
This affects iCloud and Internet Accounts preference panes.

  • Could not load iCloud preference pane and could not load internet accounts preference pane

after a recent not so succesful time machine restore, and after turning internal hard drive and ssd on my macbook pro late 2008 into a fusion drive, I get these error messages in the system preference : could not load iCloud preference pane and could not load internet accounts preference pane. I noted that Mail, Calendar, notes etc all sync to my various device, but on my mac, I can't access the accounts feature. Can anyone help me resolve this issue ? I searched all over the net with no success...
    cheers !

iMac (Processor 3.2GHz, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3, 3TB HD) Running Mavericks (10.9.4), I have the exact same problem. Local Apple Store unable to help. Turned to my AppleCare Program. They say their techs have never come across this issue this was what was done:
Have downloaded & new copy of OS X  = same issue.
Deleted OS X Reinstalled OS X on blank drive - restored all my data from backup = now have no MS Office, no Adobe Photoshop Elements, no iWeb, no Parallels, no VMWare, no iPhoto in fact, nothing of "my" machine. (but problem is still there)
Advised to do an "Internet Restore" from good Backup (over 24 hours to complete); when complete, machine restarts = a circle with a cross diagonally through it and the spinning wheel. (It goes no further no matter how many times you reboot)
Now on my own, booted using "Command + R" to start in Recovery mode. Changed all permissions in Disk Utility. Rebooted. = my machine is back - all data intact and all programs there & working BUT problem persists.
I have now turned to Communities. Followed everything people said worked for them but in my case, after a reboot, I still cannot load iCloud OR Internet Accounts Preferences panes!!
If I add a calendar item on my iMac it will not sync with either my iPad or iPhone. If I add a calendar item on either my iPhone or my iPad that item will sync with the other device but will not sync to my iMac. The same is true for Contacts as well. Extremely annoying to have to type it in all the time. This is Apple for heavens sake and therefore it should work!!

  • HT4907 I am getting "Could not load iCloud preference pane." when trying to engage icloud through desktop system preferences. I just downloaded ML to my 2010 macbook pro. I also am unable to engage Safari. Chrome is working.  I cleared all histories/cooki

Any ideas what I need to do to get the issues resolved?
I have cleared histories/cookies, emptied trash, turned off any unnecessary programs that were running, restarted multiple times after each idea was tried.
I dont find these issues when doing a search, but realize Mountain Lion 10.8.2 is not very old yet.
I WAS able to sign on to cloud ultilizing the System Preferences from the Apple icon. But Find My Mac cannot be located. I just keep getting iCloud lit up. No icon appears.

  • Preference Error: Could not load sharing preference pane

For some reason my second computer (iMac 27) is no longer showing up on the left pane of any finder window on my MBP. The iMac is running Yosemite and the MBP is running Mavericks. So I open System preferences to see if there is a problem with "Sharing" on the MBP. I'm getting a Preference Error: Could not load sharing preference pane. Do I need to install the update to fix this? I'm not ready to commit to Yosemite completely. I build apps for iOS and Mac and really need to test in both OS environments.

  • Preferences error - could not load displays preference pane

My screen resolution changed during game play. Now that the game is off, I cant change it back. This is what the error message says "Preferences Error - Could not load Displays preference pane."

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Preferences Error: Could not load Sharing preference pane.

    G'Day Folks,
I'm getting a 'Preferences Error: Could not load Sharing preference pane.' when I try to launch "Sharing" from the System Preferences.
    Have rebuilt permissions etc.
Was hoping the 10.5.1 update might fix it, but alas no.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers!

    Now the plot thickens...
I notice that the version number of my 'SharingPref.prefPane' file is 1.3.1 (dated late 2006). This is odd - since I installed Leopard initially as a clean install (drive erased and formatted before installing). I did experience some instabilities a few days after this clean install, so I then reinstalled, but the second installation was an 'Archive and Install'. I cant see how a file dated 2006 managed to get into the system.
When I checked the 'Previous Systems' folder created by by the 'Archive and Install' process, the SharingPref.prefPane' file is version 3.0 (dated 27/09/07).
So this seems to be indicating the possible problem - the 'new' SharingPref.prefPane' file is version 1.3.1 whilst the previous system is version 3.0.
Is your version of the SharingPref.prefPane' file version 1.3.1 or 3.0?
Bizarre. I'll investigate further. Any contributions or advice warmly welcomed!
Can anyone share any light on this?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

    ~/Library/Preferences
A window will appear, scroll down until you see this file
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist

  • Error: "Could not load Accounts preference pane."

I'm able to open my System Preferences, but when I click on "Accounts" I get a slide-down error box that says: "To use the “Accounts” preferences pane, System Preferences must quit and reopen."
Soooo, I quit and reopen Sys. Prefs., click "Accounts" and get a pop-up error box that says, "Could not load Accounts preference pane."
Don't know if this is because of 3rd party panes (last one to install was the updated Growl).
Anyway, this just appeared out of the blue.
    Ideas?

I am also unable to open my Accounts Pref after upgrading to 10.6. One of my cohorts installed 10.6 and updated Growl no problems. It appears not to be a preference based on any individual user.
I have run the gamut of suggestion listed in the forum with the exception of installing 10.6 clean.

  • Preferences Error: Could not load accounts preference pane

    Hey,
i have nearly the same problem as discribed here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/10103378#10103378
I simply can't load the accounts preference pane. The error-message is something like "the preference pane 'user and groups' could not be opened" (my systemlanguage is german, so I don't know exactly). This error error appeared unter 10.6.8 as well, but I did not care for it. I just hoped this problem would be fixed by updating to lion... but unfortunatly I was wrong. It appears under 10.7 as well.
I tried every hint written in the other topic, except for reinstalling Snow Leopard.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I thought about just deleting the accounts.prefPane-file and replace it with a copy of my friends iMac. But im scared i crash my whole system
Don't know if this does matter, but my Mac is a iMac 7,1.
Thanks for any help and sorry for my poor english.

I had the same problem on *three* separate macs all running Snow Leopard 1.6.8. Not only were my System Preferences > Accounts not loading but so was Disk Utility crashing every time I opened it as well as a few other oddities.
I fixed everything in one fell swoop by following the solution on this thread :
I used Pacifist to open my Mac OS X Install DVD (10.6) and manually pulled out the PlatformHardwareManagement.framework. The one that was installed on my system was dated March '07, I replaced it with the one from the installer DVD.
