"Could not move file to selected location"

Ok, I will ask this in two parts- first the short question-
What could be causing me to get this message every time I try to import something into LR3? It is happening when I try to move, copy, or add anything into LR3.
I also keep getting a folder in my left side panel that says 2011 with a question mark. It is empty though, and even though I keep removing it, it keeps popping back up. Also, a lot of photos that I should be able to import into LR are greyed out, like I am not able to select them to import them (although that is not the case with all of the photos). Including this in case these things are related.
Some context- I am an Aperture 3 user who has been trying to decide to move to LR3 or not for months and months. Every time I try to get started in LR3, I encounter problems, so I keep going back to Aperture. Finally, Aperture became totally unstable after the Lion update and I purchased LR3. I have not moved my photos into LR3 yet, because I have no idea what I am doing. I really dislike LR3, and I can't wrap my head around how it works, but I am going to use it regardless for a lot of reasons I won't go into.
So, I have LR3 installed on my laptop, and I am just playing around with file organization and am trying to figure it out here with a small group of pictures before I actually move my "real" photos, 16,000 of them, into LR3 on my desktop. I thought I was getting somewhere, was feeling confident in my understanding of LR3 (at least import and file organization), and now this keeps happening. I am trying to import jpegs from my desktop into LR3. They are not photos that are already in LR3. I can't figure out why I can't import anything, and this keeps popping up.
My last part of the question- let's say that I want to delete my current LR3 catalog on this machine and just start over. I would like to try to reorganize and then just import the photos again (just the practice photos) to get a clean start. How would I do that?
I have the Kelby book. I have Victoria Bampton's book. I subscribed to the Kelby online trainings. I am going to figure out LR no matter how crazy it makes in the process.

Yes- I do understand that LR is just a database, and that my pictures exist where they exist- I was just including the fact that I keep having this empty 2011 with a ? folder pop up, and I keep remving it, but it keeps coming back- just in case that would have anything to do with why I am unable to import (add, move, or copy) any photos into LR. I don't see why they would be related, but they are just two problems I am having at the same time. I do understand that the photos are not "in" LR. although that may not have been clear when I posted my mess of a question.

  • Error: File could not be moved to selected location

I get an error code "file could not be moved to selected location" when trying to move an image or a folder from one hard drive to another within Lightroom.
I am migrating from a Windows-based PC to an iMac. I successfully used Lightroom to move all my images and catalogs from the PC hard file to a USB attached hard file.  I was able to go to the iMac and move the Lightroom Catalog from USB attached drive to the Apple Macintosh drive. I was able to bring up Lightroom with moved Lightroom Catalog and work with all of my images. Then using Lightroom I was unable to move the images to the Macintosh hard drive without getting the error code above.
    What now?

Thanks for you input.  The "from" hard drive where I placed the Catalog and images to port them to the Apple from the Windows PC is a read only on the Apple system.  The Macintosh drive (and a Drobo drive that I have also tried to write to are formatted for Apple.  I read/write on them when moving files outside of Lightroom.  It's just within Lightroom where the problem seems to exist.  I want to work within Lightroom so that the Catalog is up-to-date.

  • Could not import file to requested location. (48)

I'm getting to above message on import with a 16GB CF card. Anyone with a solution to this?
    Lightroom version 3.4.1
    Mac Pro quad-Core, Xeon
    OS 10.6.8
Importing on a firewire CF card reader. Have tried two readers (different brands, but both firewire). Have tried different firewire ports.
    Nikon D3X
The images show up on import (card ready mounts on desktop) and I can open any of the images.
I've tried copying the images on the desktop and then importing from there but this also does not work.
This is a new issue. Has never occurred before.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

A similar problem lead me to this post.  2 images on my card couldn't be moved to a perminant file from my temp. download folder* (*a habit I am trying to break from problems I had with LR 1.4 but that is an old story).  I found MY solution on another forum.  Turns out I accidently 'locked' the 2 images when I was trying to get 'info' on the camera screen, both functions are on the same button.  It might help you:
If you use mac osx you can select all files, request file info and from that window unlock all the files instantly. On windows I'd have to look up at work, but should be similar, no? They might be marked read only, so if you tell windows to remove this when getting file info, should do the same thing as in mac osx. Good luck!
Hope you find an easy solution.

  • Import Error: Could not move a file to the requested location.

After importing with the move option I get "Could not move a file to the requested location." and a list of all the
images. The images were all moved so the sync option finds them in the destination folders. It is just a pain to go through this two step process. Note this wasn't the initial behavior at first the process worked.

Odd thing was this wasn't a problem when I first started using the LR3 release this has developed in the last few hours even after a reboot.

  • QTPro Could not save file "The movie contains an in correct time value"

QT Pro 7.6.6 Could not save file “The movie contains an in correct time value”
I’m exporting files out of Priemer Pro CS5 with the H.264 “vimeo HD settings” .mp4 files and the files look dull, low contrast and low color saturation, when played in QT10. From what I’ve read it’s a gamma problem with QT10. I also hear the files from FCP have the same problem, so it's not a Premiere Pro problem.
The fix is to open the file in QT Pro, adjust the blend in the video track and re-save, however I try to save the file I get an error that says “The movie contains an in correct time value”
Will QT Pro 7.6.6 allow me to save my file to .mp4 or only .mov files
    I’m on a MacPro 12 Core with 14gb memory
    OS 10.6.5
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Will QT Pro 7.6.6 allow me to save my file to .mp4 or only .mov files
The "Save As..." option always saves a copy of the data to an MOV file container. Minor property changes will allow your to use the "Save" option which stores only the changed properties to the same file in its original file container. Unfortunately, major changes will automatically invoke the "Save As..." routines even though you selected the "Save" option. If you must place the content in an MP4 file container, you can use the "Save As..." option in QT Streamclip to re-save the "fixed" MOV file to an MP4 file container. However, note that extraneous track content may, if present, not be carried over to the MP4 container.

This is a SQL Server 2012 Developer Edition of SSRS.
I am getting this error when navigating to http://servername/Reports. The reports site was working fine, until I installed a SQL 2014 Developer instance (including SSRS) on the same server.
I can still get to the http://servername/ReportServer site.
Neither of these are using Sharepoint.

    Hi Glen,
"The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference." is generally caused by the loaded assembly's version is different than the expected version application refers to.
In this case, it should be caused by:
While starting Report Manager, the backend process ReportingServiceService need to load assemblies it refers to
ReportingServiceService reads the compilation/assemblies element from web.config(under Report Manager virtual patch)
If the compilation/assemblies is not existing, ReportingServiceService loads all assemblies from Bin folder. It can be verified from call stack System.Web.Configuration.CompilationSection.LoadAllAssembliesFromAppDomainBinDirectory(). ReportingServiceService
uses System.Reflection.Assembly.Load with the assemblies' name only to load assemblies.
The Assembly.Load tries to load from the specify assembly by name from GAC at first. If it is found from GAC, it won't be loaded from Bin folder any more.
Since Reporting Service SharePoint Integration mode is installed, a same assembly of 'Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.ObjectModel' with different version might be installed to the GAC. That causes the error "The located assembly's manifest definition
does not match the assembly reference."

  • Logon failed. Details: mscorlib : Could not find file.... XSD

I have been searching the forums and the web for hours and have not found a solution to a problem we are having.  We upgraded our reports from VS.NET 2003 to VS.NET 2008 and started getting the below error upon our Report.Export code.
Logon failed. Details: mscorlib : Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xxx\ConsolidatedReports\Designers\xxxFringe\xxxFringeFunderDetail.xsd'. Failed to export the report. Error in File C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\temp_90ed8e07-481c-4bdb-8c50-885854a143d0 {B8EC61FE-7931-4979-AD92-432C21013D77}.rpt: Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters.
So when I verify the XSD and set the data source location (XML File Path: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\xxx\ConsolidatedReports\Designers\xxxFringe\xxxFringe.xsd)  the report works fine.  The problem is that when another developer trys to run the report on their machine and their machine has a different path for the code, the report fails.  The odd thing is that some of our reports are working fine, it is only a few that basically are looking for the hard coded XSD path.
So, as far as I can tell the XSD are not needed (Re: ADO.Net (XML) Data Source File Path).  I have applied SP1 for Crystal Reports.  I am totally confused why this started and why the report is looking for a "hard coded" path to the XSD.

The RunReport is called by a button click on a form.  This method calls ExportFile which works until the line "Report.Export()" is hit.

          (a) No, having selected the assembly from the "Select .NET Constructor" browser, I , ahem, assumed it and it's location were already known to the OS and LabVIEW(?)   ... but I'll try this ASAP!

    hi,
this is not even c# question.
anyhow, you have the same case as this one.

  • Could not load file or assembly 'log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral

    Hi,
I have a web site developed with vs 2010 (32-bit) and crystal report 13 (for sv 2010). It's working well i when crystal report installed in gac. I need to this app on a server WITHOUT crystal report installed. so I copied all required crystal assemblies into the bin folder and publish it. I always get following error message
Could not load file or assembly 'log4net, Version=1.2.10.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
I tried a lot of solutions in this forum, but none of them resolved my issue.
    Please help!!
    thanks,
    Max

Stick with x86 or x64, not Any CPU.
    Don't include log4net manually

Note that the dev machine is x64 Win7.
I have not tried deploying this to staging since the issue started as I'm a bit nervous of touching the staging/live environment until this is solved.
Removing the PlatformTarget element from the project file has no effect
Removing the msshrtmi.dll file from the bin directory of the website project ends up with
'Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.WindowsFabric.Common, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified'
I have used Git to revert to the last working build to no effect (But I don't have the obj/bin folders in GIT), but it has atleast reset the project files etc.
If I return msshrtmi.dll to the bin folder and switch the model and website projects to x64 there is no change
If I switch both to x86 then I get an error Could not load file or assembly 'BekoModel2011' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
which is the model project - presumably because to run on my x64 machine I need the 64bit version?
I really need to be able to debug and then publish some changes ASAP.
    Andrew

    Hi,
Is it true that you're using IIS to host the application? Could you check whether the process is x64 or x86 one via task manager or config in IIS manager?

Sorry for late response. I fixed the issue by installing the correct version of ASP .NET 4 from

If .NET Framework 4.5 is already installed, also run aspnet_regiis -i from C:\windows\microsoft.net\Framework\v4.0.30319
