Could not send mail using outlook when tethered (m...

I have had a problem for a long time where I could not send email from my laptop when connected to the internet via a hotspot on my 3 mobile phone.
After a long conversation with three where we determined that if I used three's SMTP server settings I could send email no problem, but once I was back on wifi i had to change my settings back to the BT settings (mail.btinternet.com), I decided to try and tackle BT support to get a resolution to the issue.
I knew this would be challenge and that I would end up speaking to someone who could speak english but actually didn't really understand it, and Bt didn't disappoint!!
I had a long online chat where it was explained to me that if I was connected via my 3g/4g connection I would have to use my providers SMTP because that is just the way it is. O.k. what did I expect!!
Anyway I am just posting here so if anyone has the same problem I may be able to help you as I have now managed to get this up and running. How?? I hear you ask.
In my case I used the mail checker on BT to see who's mail service I was with and it varified I was still with BT yahoo rather than BT Mail.
I decided to try the yahoo setting for the SMTP server rather than the stock mail.btinternet.com and I am now up and running.
My SMTP Setting is now -  smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk (port 465 with SSL)
Hope this helps someone else as I just could not find an answer by googling the issue.

There is absolutely no reason why it shouldn't work using mail.btinternet.com port 465 with SSL. Works fine for me, albeit on O2 rather than Three, but the principle is the same.

You may find the troubleshooting steps for iCloud Mail in the article below helpful.
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Mail
If you can't send mail in OS X Mail
If you receive this alert or a similar alert when sending a message from your iCloud email address in OS X Mail:
“This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The reason for the failure is: An error occurred while delivering this message via the smtp server: server name.”
In OS X Mail, choose Preferences from the Mail menu.
Click Accounts in the Preferences window.
Select your iCloud account from the list of accounts.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Choose your iCloud account from the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) pop-up menu. Example: “Derrick Parker (iCloud)”.
Note: The Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) menu also includes an Edit SMTP Server List command. If you choose this command, be aware that the iCloud SMTP server won't be among the servers that can be edited. This is normal.
If you're attaching a large file
Message attachments can't exceed the maximum size allowed by your email service provider or the recipient's email service provider. The maximum size varies by service provider. Try compressing the filebefore sending it, or send your message without the attachment to verify that there are no issues with sending.

  • "Could Not Send Message Using The Server...:

I never have any trouble sending from Apple Mail, except now I am trying to do a mass-mailing for our business. Is there a limit on how many people you can BCC?
For the 1st message I put 200 people in the BCC field, and the message sends fine. Then I setup the another message with the next 200 people, and the send fails. Get a notice that Apple "Could Not Send Message Using The Server SMTPOUT.secureserver.net". And gives me the option of selecting other servers, neither of which work either.
I am curious, are there limits on how many people you can copy on one message?

Most, if not all ISPs and email account providers have similar limits per the following for personal/non-business email accounts as part of an overall effort to eliminate or reduce bulk spam emanating from the ISP's or email account provider's domain.
Any ISP or email account provider that doesn't impose similar limits is helping to contribute to the amount of spam that gets circulated.
.Mac has several safeguards in place to ensure that only .Mac members send messages with the Mac.com outgoing mail server.
Among them are reasonable limitations on:
The number of messages that can be sent each day (200 messages)
The number of recipients that can be sent to each day (400 recipients)
The number of recipients a message can be addressed to at one time (100 recipients)
There is also a 10 MB maximum size for messages sent or received using the .Mac mail system.

  • After updating to OS5, my iphone 4 can not send mail using wi fi and 3G.. only 1 or the other. It will not switch servers from using ATT 3G server to then using WiFi

I have called my internet provider, my email server company and AT&T. All my settings are fine and everything was fine before the OS5 upgrade. I can send email using WiFi when I have my email host as the outgoing server and can send email 3G using ATT server only when on 3G. The phone is not switching back and forth servers from wi fi connection to 3G.

    Hey there Jachin W.,
It sounds like you are unable to connect to your home Wi-Fi suddenly on 2 different iOS devices. I would be interested to know if the affected phones are able to connect to a different Wi-Fi connection, but barring that I would use the following article to help troubleshoot the devices and the Wi-Fi connection:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
And this section from toward the bottom if needed:
Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Could not send location using whatsapp

I'm using curve 9220 & subscribed to BIS.. The problem is that I was enabled to send location using whatsapp just after I bought the phone. After a couple of month I changed my sim card and made security wipe on the phone to use a new simcard but I used the new simcard just for a week because it could not support BIS... Then I changed back to simcard that I originally used before somehow I can't remember wether I had made the security wipe or not.. But all application went back to normal except I can't send location via whatsapp... It says that "sorry your location could not be determined". I'm getting confused why I can't send location just like I did before... Could anybody help me to solve this.

Were you once able to send your location from that phone? I'm not sure how that would be possible because the Curve 9220 doesn't have GPS; the 9230 does but not yours.
    Cheers.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Email not send mail using yahoo

my mail will recieve messages from yahoo mail but won't send.
i have SSL on both my incoming and outgoing mail.
my SSL for incoming is 995
and for out going is 465
both with the correct password and username.
i am running mac osx 10.5.4

Sorry to have to be gone most of the day.
You are saying that with the Activity monitor, it never connects, and never enters the transmitting phase?
Do you have an email account with your ISP or is this Yahoo what is provided by your ISP?
In Leopard, with some connections, there can be an issue not experienced in Tiger. I had this issue, but it only slowed sending and not completely cut it off. I will paste in what I and others have done to work around the issue:
I have experienced the same behavior. For me it is corrected by entering a primary and secondary DNS address in the modem. I think this behavior differs for some people, and must be related to interaction with specific ISPs. Since I don't have Leopard on a laptop, I have not tested in remote venues.
I changed my Modem to have dedicated DNS address. It may be possible to do in the router, instead, but I did mine in the Modem. How that is done will likely depend on the brand of modem. You will likely need to query your ISP to get the server DNS number -- if so, they would be able to guide the change in the modem.
For me, it could be done in the Setup/DHCP dialogue with the modem, via browser. I have no confirmation of this resolving not sending, but suspect sluggish connection to the SMTP could lead to time outs and total failure to send.

  • Could not send mails from iPad nor from iMac

    Hello,
very strange. I use Maverick and iCloud. With Mail on my iPad (latest update installed) and on my iMac I cannot send any mail. I receive mails and using iCloud in Safari on my iMac works fine and I also see the sent mails on my iPad and on my iMac.
    Any idea?
    Michael

    Just some more information.
If I check the connection Mail says that the IMAP connection to iCloud is okay and working. But no mail leaves Mail, they stay in the outbox.
I got my to be send mail back on the screen and a window with the message, that there is a time overrun for server „p04-smtp.mail.me.com“ and I should try another server (have e.g. GMX) or try later. Later and e.g. GMX doesn't work either.
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Exchange Mail will not Send mail from Iphone when Desktop computer Shutdown

A client of mine has an Iphone that I have setup to connect to his Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server using Activesync. Everything works fine and dandy until he shutdown his desktop in his office. Than he is no longer able to send any mail from his Iphone but is able to receive it no problem. Anyone have any insight on this problem?

Your problem is with Cox and Cox not having an authenticated SMTP server.
Not many ISPs provide an authenticated SMTP server and I'm not sure why - especially with laptops and devices such as the iPhone so popular.
I'm a Time Warner/RoadRunner customer for cable and internet access and I quit using my RR email account several years ago for this very reason. I switched to using my .Mac account as my primary personal email account which has an authenticated SMTP server. I'm able to send messages with the account regardless the internet service provider used for internet access. My business POP account also has an authenticated SMTP server and no problems sending with this account either - via a number of different Wi-Fi connections and EDGE.
I suggest seriously considering switching to another email account. A Gmail account is free, can be accessed as a POP or IMAP account with the email client on your computer as well as with the iPhone's email client, has a good spam filter at the incoming mail server, and has an authenticated SMTP server.
If you ever move or decide to change your ISP from Cox to a different ISP, your email account and address will not need to change. You can access and send messages with a Gmail account with any ISP - the same with a .Mac account. And you'll have much more server storage space than Cox provides.

  • Can't "send" mail in Outlook Web App

Firefox version 34 on Ubuntu Linux 12.04
Several users cannot "send" email using the Outlook Web App. I'm in the process of contacting Microsoft to see if the problem is on their end. The "send" button works fine in Chrome.
    I've tried:
    -Using the keyboard shortcut (Alt-S)
    -Restarting firefox with addons disabled
    -Changing the zoom level
    -Tried in Private mode
-Tried using the popout window to compose and send
-Tried disabling the proxy (does not work with or without the proxy)
I've noticed that after creating a new message, no draft is saved. Cannot send with a new message or when replying.

Did you realize this is a forum for MacBook Pro's? Outlook is a Microsoft product that only runs on MS Windows. Perhaps you could provide more information such as:
