    Hi,
The issue is because of the OS. Windows XP does not support for installation. XP can be client only. For DB Tier & Application server we need to use Windows 2000/2003 server editions. These are the certified operating systems for installation by Oracle Corporation.
Please refer the tech stack for more information.

  • After BI install SIA and Tomcat could not start with service account.

    Hi BO Gurus,
I want to install BO child node (Expand the parent install)
Client IT prepared a system with MS Server 2012 with Windows 8 as OS, and assigned a Service Account for me.
I gave service account following permissions -
Act as a part of operating system
    log on as a batch
    log on as a service
After this I rebooted the system and logged in with Service Account credentials. Started the installer, performed custom/expand install.
    the install was successful.
When I opened CCM, both Tomcat and SIA are running under 'localsystem' account.
I want them to run under service account --> i sopped SIA and changed credentials in 'Log on as' box under SIA properties.--> Click on 'apply' and 'OK'
When I go on and start SIA I get following error -
' The Service did not start due to log on failure'.
The same service account runs services on 3 other BO boxes including parent node of the above install and 2 other DS boxes and everything apart from this machine works exactly fine.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Maitreyee

    Maitreyee,
BI 4.x Platform will NOT work on Desktop OS like Windows 7 / 8.x / 8.1, it required 64bit Server Operating system.   See attached screenshot.

  • Could not start the Crystal Report Application Server service on local computer

    CA Forum: Deployment
    Hi
    I have a following problem.
I have installed Crystal report application server(RAS)(CE embeded 10) on Windows server 2003 enterprise x64 edition.
When i start it, i see an error:
Could not start the Crystal Report Application Server service on local computerError 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly
Sometimes, i can start it but it stops a few minutes later.
I have disabled DEP (data execution prevention).
    Log:
Faulting application crystalras.exe, version 10.0.0.533, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
    Please help
    Thanks for your help

This error occurs after an initial install, when the Oracle suite is installed logged in as the user(who has admin rights on the machine). If this is the case,
1.Go to Services (Admin Tools > Services)
2.Double click the Oracle services( BI Server or Presentation or TNS Listener).
    3.Go to Log On tab
4.If local system account is checked , un-check that option. Check "This Account" option
5.Give the user information for that machine(e.g domain\username)
6.Specify password associated with the user ( the username/pwd that is used to login to the machine)
    7.Confirm pwd and click Apply.
    8.re-start the service.
This is what i did , and it worked.
good luck and hopefully oracle addresses these issues , they become frustrating to use the product.
    Thanks,
    Ram

  • Windows could not start the DHCP Client service on Local Computer, Error 2

    Hi everyone,
I assign IP addresses via my router but today installed OpenVPN and it depends on the DHCP Client service. I checked in services and found it wasn't running. If I try starting it I get this message "Windows could not start the DHCP Client
service on Local Computer." "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.".
There's plenty of info out there about this issue but nothing seems to fix it for me. I've tried the following as an administrator,
"sfc /scannow" - It reported and error which it fixed but after a restart the problem persists.
"NET  LOCALGROUP   administrators  "NT Authority\Local Service"   /add"
    "netsh winsock reset catalog"
I also checked that all dependencies of the DHCP Client service are working. I used "CMD /K
SC QC DHCP" to check the dependencies and compared them to an identical computer and they are. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Did you mean after the restart the sfc /scannow command still could find the corrupted files?
Have you check this these related registry entries permission for your account?
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp
permission needed: Query value, Create value, Enumerate Subkeys, Notify, Read Control
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcp\Configurations
    permission needed: Full Control, Read
for more information, read this article:

If the issue still cannot be resolved, I would like to suggest you use the recovery media to repair your computer.

When installing PC Connectivity Solution there was a window message with title ServiceLayer and text "Could not start service". Afterwards, installation continued and finished "succesfully". Unfortunately I have problem that was posted a few times. I can't connect phone to PC Suite. I tried to Repair PC Connectivity solution, uninstall this and Cable driver and repair Nokia PC Suite, uninstall everything and use later Nokia cleaner etc. Nothing worked. When I go to PC Connectivity Solution and run manually ServiceLayer.exe I get the same message, that "Could not start service". What should I do? Please help me. I do not want to format my HDD and install Windows from the beginning. I use WinXP SP2.

    Hi,
I've found the cause of the problem. It was firewall - Agnitum Outpost Personal Firewall Pro. I had old version and after installing new version the message dissapeared. As You can see below - one of issues solved was the problem "Outpost Firewall could block installation of services".
"Outpost Firewall Pro 2008 (build 6.0.2172.214.422.270)
    Release date: November 14, 2007
The following issues are resolved (only significant ones are listed):
    * Outpost monitor and Outpost Feedback were not registered in startup entries
    * Outpost Firewall could block installation of services
    * Information about crashes could not be sent to Agnitum
    * Rules autocreation did not work on 64-bit systems for applications from ProgramFiles (x86) and SysWOW64 folders
    * Most commonly reported crashes (including crash on content filtering)
    * Error 14001 during installation
    * Rules were applied incorrectly in some cases
    * Address macros could be incorrectly resolved in rules
    * Leaktests SPT 15 and SPT 16 were failed on Vista64
    * Error while importing LAN settings from Outpost Firewall 4.0
    * Web pages content could be blocked/corrupted (GZIP decoding issue)
    * Outpost Firewall now cannot be installed over Outpost Security Suite"
But now I have different problem - I can't download update of PC Suite. The download starts and it stops when the progress bar is in its way. Sometimes it goes to the end but the installation doesn't start. What could be the problem?

  • Windows could not start block level backup engine service

    Hello,
                  Im
trying to perform system state backup for one of the server its unable to run. Last week we have performed the system state backup without any issue.
    Operating System:2008
OS Version: R2 Small Business Server 2011 x64 Edition Build 7600
    RAM-32 GB
    Following event ID is reported in the logs;
    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        Microsoft-Windows-Backup
    Date:          7/2/2013 2:25:35 PM
    Event ID:      754
    Task Category: None
    Level:         Information
    Keywords:
    User:          SYSTEM
    Computer:      ABC
The Block Level Backup Engine service has stopped.
When we try to restart the Block Level Backup Engine service we get error as “Windows could not start the Block Level Backup Engine Service on Local Computer.
Error 0x800700b7: Cannot create a file when that file already exists.”
I have already restarted Virtual disk and Volume shadow copy service, but no luck.
Any help in resolving this issue will be much appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Keshava

    All,
    Here is the solution which worked for me ;
Services.msc >properties page of Block Level Backup Service Engine
    Changed to Log On tab
Instead of Log On as Local System Account changed to Log On as
[email protected] (select the account with admin creds), entered the password of admin and closed the properties page.
Now restart the Block Level Backup Service Engine and re-run the job, backup completes without any issue.
    Thank you
    Keshava

Please let me know how to fix this.

    This problem connected with proxy-setings.
As the first steps you should try:
           1.  export system env variable:
    http_proxy=http://www-proxy.ru.oracle.com:80
    https_proxy=https://www-proxy.ru.oracle.com:80
    no_proxy=127.0.0.1,localhost
    and you can also export
        export OS_TENANT_NAME=admin
        export OS_USERNAME=admin
        export OS_PASSWORD=root
        export OS_AUTH_URL=http://<conntroller_IP>:5000/v2.0/
    2. and than restart mysqld, if it is running, stop iptables and repeat installation process from beginning with the currently generated answer file
if we are exporting variable OS_PASSWORD, its value should be the same as value for CONFIG_KEYSTONE_ADMIN_PW in the currently generated answer file.
This OS_PASSWORD will be written by packstack in the /root/keystonerc_admin file and will be used as admin's password for login to  Openstack dashboard.
