Could using UK plug cause overheating?

I have had my macbook pro for about 5 months, no overheating issues. I have recently had to come to the UK for work, so I bought Apple's adaptor kits, and plugged in over here no problem 3 days ago. Yesterday, I came home from an afternoon out to find my computer so hot I couldn't touch the bottom of it. I shut it down, let it cool off - no problem the rest of the night. Today, I come home, turn it on (had left it off instead of just asleep all day just in case), and within a half hour, it is again too hot to touch in many places on the bottom. I downloaded iStat and the fans are running at nearly 4000 rpms, but the cpu is still almost 100 degrees F. This is so sudden, I am wondering if it could have to do with the UK, but I can't find any one online drawing similar conclusions. Any thoughts on the sudden spike? I'd turn it off, but I need my Skype! Thanks

I would expect the AC adapter to get hot since the UK used 240v unlike the rest of the EU which uses 220v.
The power entering your machine should be the same whether you put 100v or 240v into the transformer; it will still output whatever volts its designed to, assuming its functioning correctly.
Even if the AC adapter were sending too many volts to the machine, the power board in the machine would blow - it would not just get hot.
