Couldn't open Lightroom trying to remove it from a Mac

I have made a big mistake apparently and could use some help. I tried to open Lightroom on my Mac and nothing happened. Thinking I had changed some setting and being new to the Mac I thought I would delete and reinstall Lightroom. No such luck. I moved the application to the trash and when I tried to reinstall it I got the message that it couldn't be done because there was a newer version on my computer. I have removed all files that I can find connected to Lightroom but still no luck. Can anybody help with exactly what needs to be removed so I can reinstall it. Thanks for any help

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem is that I did empty the trash and then discovered Appzapper. Now there doesn't seem to be a way to drag the application to Appzapper. I did get it going again by creating a new account with Adobe and downloading the trial version. So far it hasn't said that this is the trial version so maybe it recognized my registration number and I am good to go. At least we will see.

Thank you very much, unfortunately the instructions are not so clear for me, I am trying to figure out what they suggest, but my english is not so good and I cannot understand what ‘Customize and Control Google Chrome’ menu > ‘Options’ > ‘Under the Hood’ > ‘Reset to Defaults’ button means in the italian translation

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

Error -36 is, as X423424X says, a generic I/O error. It doesn't say anything about what caused the error, or indeed where it occurred (source or target).
You have to describe exactly your action when the error occurs. Is the ext'l drive you mentioned formatted as NTFS (Win default file system)? Without additional software, Mac OS X cannot write to NTFS, it can only read from it.

First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. One or more menu widgets within your site have become out-of-sync with the structure of your site in Plan view. If you send us the file we can repair and return it. Or you could delete and recreate the menu widgets.

I jsut upgraded to 10.9 and it is up to date and also my safari is up to date (no updates available for it). My safari is saying that my flash is out of date. when I follow the links it lets me download but when I double click to install it tell me "“Install Adobe Flash Player.app” can’t be opened because it was not downloaded from the Mac App Store.". When I install the flash UNinstaller and try to install that, it tells me the same. I ALSO found the exact same problem when I tried to install the acrobat installer (some tried to download a pdf and the page told me that my acrobat reader 'might' be out of date). Any thought?

You're running up against the GateKeeper.
Download the offline installer: Flash Player 12.0.0.44 (Mac OS X) by right clicking and choosing "Download Linked File As".
Mount the DMG and when it opens, right click the installer and choose "Open".
You'll see a warning. Click "Open" again.
It will run from there.

Trying to transfer movies from my mac to my ipad

Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

On your Macs, open System Preferences. If you don't see MobileMe but you do see iCloud under Internet & Wireless then everything is syncing via iCloud not MobileMe.
Try this on your Macs... Deselect Calendars in System Preferences > iCloud then reselect that box then restart your Macs.
See if that prevents the duplicates.

You have quite muddied up the waters, I'm afraid. Assuming you now have a single GUID partition formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled, you should try reinstalling Lion:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

No. They will remain on the Mac. That's one of the reasons why it's a good idea to import your treasured photos. If something happens to the iPad, you still have your photos.
