  • IPad could not scan for wireless networks

My iPad 2 was bought in April 2011. And just a few hours ago it suddenly disconnected from my home WIFI.
I tried to reconnect it, but it either kept scanning the network or kept prompting the warning message "iPad could not scan for wireless networks".
My Macbook Pro, iPhone and another iPad 3 were all working fine with my two different WIFI points at home yet only my iPad 2 couldn't scan both WIFI at all.
    I have tried to:
    1. Reboot IOS (turn it off and on)
    2. Take out sim card
    3. Reset Network Settings
    4  Reset All Settings
    5. Restore iPad from iTune
I've called Apple, obviously they had no clues about this problem and they just adviced me to send in my iPad 2 for 1-to-1 change.
This seems to be a common unsolved issue for apple users. Has anyone solved this before?
Now I'm worrying will my iPad 3 get the same issue in future. it makes me quite frustrated

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • IPhone 4S - Could not scan for wireless networks - help needed please

    Hi
Can anyone offer any advice please.
My 4s has developed an wifi issue. It cant scan for wireless networks My bluetooth is intermittent also.
I have turned it on/off, rebooted, reset all networks, reset to factory settings, set to airplane mode, set to do not disturb - everything and all to no avail.
I am under a two year contract with Vodafone and went into their branch at Merry Hill, Dudley today and they failed to help me saying it was nothing to do with them.
I am at a loss as to what to do. I have not had any accident with my phone and it is still in mint condition.
Can anyone please offer any suggestions on what to do.
    Many thanks.

Apple's out-of-warranty policy is a feeble attempt at covering up it's issues and is a clear cut demonstration for their lack of respect for its user base. Their WIFI/Bluetooth dropping issues have been around for several years now and it started within the last 3 IOS updates. Apple engineers acknowledge this problem and don't have a solution yet... this was confirmed at the Genius Bar at their Nashua, NH outlet. My phone is 6 months passed warranty and my Verizon contract isn't up for renewal for another 6 months.
There are a lot of complaints about this (a LOT), yet Apple continues to stick its head in the sand instead of owning up to providing shoddy hardware and/or glitches software. They certainly don't want to be in the business of replacing phones, so they put the onus on us by charging $200 for a replacement... such a deal for Apple!
Apple's support communities are basically useless on this subject with a lot of screwy so-called solutions to work around their flaws. I've seen one  fix where you heat up the phone with a hairdryer until the temp warning appears and then refrigerate it for 10 minutes... then BINGO, it's all fixed! Ya right!!!
Resetting network settings, or all settings (including a complete reset) is ineffective and appears to do nothing more than to further upset Apple users once they realize that they have wasted their time following Apple's so-called fix.
I just wonder if or when Apple pulls it's collective head out of the sand will they be able to see that their competition has surpassed them by leaps and bounds. There really isn't any good reason to stick with Apple now-a-days since their conscience passed away. Their competition offers superior technology while Apple continues to impress up with new connector technology and placement of their sockets.
I am finished with Apple and am incredibly sick of their spoon feeding what they want rather than what we want.
The best way to make Apple improve is to provide them with a taste of their own WIFI/Bluetooth offerings by DROPPING THEM!
They have abandoned us and have no problem trying to charge us to replace their flawed technology instead of doing the right thing!

  • Bummer..my phone quit scanning for wireless networks

in Baja on vacation and my phone suddenly stopped scanning for wireless networks. Got any ideas? My partners iphone works fine. I reset my wireless networks in the settings window. I tried manually entering the network name and pass code. I removed and replaced my sim card. I'm hesitant to synch, backup and reset my phones settings since I definitely don't want to compromise it further. Been there done that.

Here is a solution that might help. I too had the unhappy message of " could not scan for wireless networks". Thinking it was a wifi hardware problem or software problem made me give up until an idea hit me. Maybe it was an app. that was giving me problems. So I deleted an app. I had , which was Devicescape Easy Wifi, and did a reset network setting. This solved my problem. So look at your app. list and delete any wifi app. and see if that works.

  • TS1559 could not scan for wireless networks.

Wifi not working on my Iphone.  All I get is "Could not scan for wireless networks."  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

If no change after powering the iPhone off and on and/or after a reset which is similar to a computer restart, try resetting network settings on the iPhone at Settings > General > Reset.
If no change after that, try restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup but update the iPhone's backup immediately before doing so for later use.
If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • Error: "can not scan for wireless networks" 1st gen iphone running 3.1.2

My iphone will no longer scan for wireless networks. I am running an airport network via my imac and the rest of the computers, as well as two iphone 3GS phones can see it, but my 1st Gen iphone now gives me the error "can not scan for wireless networks". I have done the Home + Power button thing, reset the network settings and no help yet.
    Any suggestions?

OK. There are reports of bad wifi chips, but lets try some more things first.
I assume your router is set to b/g compatible & not "n" only, correct? The iphone only works on g. Next, try this: Shut down the WiFi, and turn off "Ask to Join Networks". Then turn the iPhone completely off, by holding the top button down until the red slider came up, slid it off, and wait a few moments.
Turn the phone back on, then turn on the WiFi, and then "Ask to Join Networks".
    See if that helps.

  • HT5569 cannot scan for wireless networks

I cannot connect to any wi-fi network. My wif- is working at home, I am connected right now to the wi-fi with my computer, but this phone wont connect to any network at all.  I have read the recommended steps posted on this website. I have tried rebooting, resetting the network connections, etc. I tried manually entering the name of the network and the screen says "cannot scan for wireless networks".  I have had this problem since upgrading the operating system a few days ago.   Nothing is working and this is very frustrating.

After being to the apple store twice, trying various restore attempts and a host of other things. I have found out the phone is screwed because of the apple update.  I ended up losing content, losing the ability to connect to wifi, so lost the ability to get my cloud backups, lost my ability to get my work email as well and that is that. I have spent hours dealing with this now.  Apple store told me I should just upgrade my phone to a 5 when my contract is up cause there is nothing they can do. If I had known all of this would have happened I would never have updated.  The guy at the apple store told me he didnt do the update on his phone because of all the issues with it. Thanks Apple.  Thanks for sending out a system upgrade that really downgrades our phones and ****** us off.  My time is valuable as is all the data that is lost.  I am royally ****** off. You have lost my loyalty.  I might just upgrade to some other type of phone instead of an iphone.

  • TS1398 cannot scan for wireless networks

My phone will not connect to home wi-fi. My DH's iphone is connecting fine, but mine won't and it doesn't list any options for network connections. wi-fi is ON. Ask to join networks is ON. Error msg "cannot scan for wireless networks". I turned the phone off and also reset network. No changes....Thanks in advance for your help

I have had this issue of not scanning for WiFi networks as well. I just tried the following, and it has worked for me, at least for the last 12 hours or so:
    1. Turn ON Airplane Mode
    2. Power off the phone normally: Hold power and home keys for 6 sec, then swipe the "power off" slider.
    3. Waited 1 minute
    4. Turn on phone, wait for it to reboot itself
    5. Turn OFF airplane mode,
Immediately, all WiFi networks popped up, and I could select my home network with the same saved password etc.
Of course, this might not work for every case, but it's easier than a phone restore and worth a try.

  • "could not scan for wireless networks" iphone6 or iOS 8?

new iPhone 6 with iOS 8.  Wifi works fine for a few hours and then drops.  The wifi connect screen sits there spinning and if I attempt a manual connecation I get the message:
"could not scan for wireless networks"
Only solution so far has been rebooting.
No issues with older devices and iOS 8.  Just the iPhone 6.
As this issue seems to come out every time Apple release new hardware I am hoping it's just a bug that will be squashed and as such wanted to bring it up on the forums.  Will also report to support.

    Hi Uncle Ook,
From what I've read, other iPhone 6 users have experience this issue too. I've read that by doing these steps it may help resolve your issue:
    Open Settings
    General
    Reset
    Reset Network Settings
    Enter your Passcode if prompted
    Tap Reset Network Settings
What this will do is reset your network settings. By doing this we'll reset any issues to default settings that'll help fix your issue by setting the network settings to default settings.
You'll see a series of different screens. This is normal. Just wait until it's completely done. You'll know when it's done when it takes you to the lock screen. You'll need to unlock your iPhone after that and try reconnecting to your wireless network that you were attempting to join. I'm not sure however that these steps will help permanently or temporarily, but I'm sure Apple will fix this issue within the next update that comes out. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Scan for wireless networks doesn't find Airport Express

    Help please!
I've been trying for days to set up my Airport Express.
When I do the scan for wireless networks, my computer seems to find every network in my block of flats except my AX. I found it once or twice, and then used the AirPort Utility to do the setup. But then it lost the connection on restart. Now the AX connection is nowhere to be found.
Similarly, when I scan for AXs using AirPort Utility it finds nothing.
I don't think it's the AX that's the problem, because I have a wifi blackberry and when I scan for wireless networks on that it finds the AX (although it won't connect). And I don't see how it can be my computer (which is not a Mac) because it finds about 10 other networks.
What am I doing wrong? I'd be most grateful to anyone who could explain it to me in language a 2 year old could understand, because it's all a complete mystery to me.
I use a BT Home Hub for wireless internet, if that makes any difference.
    Thanks!

If there are lots of other networks in the area you are probably getting a lot of RF interference.
Can I also add, the AX has relatively weak signal compare to some of the desktop wireless routers due to its size and small power source. If the interference is really a problem, AX might not be your best solution. You should consider upgrade the AX to something more powerful like the AEBS/n. Get the N version so you have a choice of moving your wireless network out of the crowded 2.4GHz band and move it into less populated 5GHz band.
    Just my 2 cents.

  • [SOLVED] Scan for wireless networks at boot

Lately I've been making extensive use of public wifi hotspots (libraries FTW), as mobile broadband is simply too unreliable to give me a persistent (and cheap) connection.
Is it possible to use some combination of netcfg and wifi-select (or similar tools) to scan for wireless networks at boot?
I've already got entries in rc.conf for my mobile dongle and automatically detecting ethernet connections, but it's pointless adding entries for whichever wireless profiles I might use as searching for these and discovering they don't exist just needlessly slows the boot process, whereas running something similar to wifi-select at boot (with a timeout so an unattended boot won't wait for me to make a selection) would avoid this.
    * Obviously I could just wait until the system has booted and then bring up the interface I wanted manually, but generally I only reboot my system after updates, and I only download updates at a wifi hotspot, so I was hoping to automate something here.

  • Iphone 4S Message - "Could not scan for Wireless Networks"

For the last couple of days I have been getting a message, "Could not scan for wireless networks" when I try to connect to WiFi. WiFi connection is sporadic and intermitent at best when I do mange to connect. My phone is set to automatically recognize and connect to familiar networks. All other devices in the area currently have no issue recognizing and connecting to my home WiFi network. I have reset, turned on and off phone. Thanks for anyones suggestions. I have a feeling a trip dowtown to visit Apple is in the cards?

    Hello there, MattBrear.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some in-depth steps to try in resolving your wi-fi connectivity issues:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
If the first set of steps don't help, try the "Unable to locate..." steps, which involve resetting network settings.

  • Iphone 4s "Could not scan for wireless networks"

I haven't had any issues with wifi except for today, when I noticed that my phone would not recognize my home wifi. I checked, and the wifi here is working fine. My roommate's iphone is connecting fine. My laptop is connecting fine. When I try to connect manually to my network, I get the message "could not scan for wireless networks". I have tried restarting my phone. I've tried just turning wifi/airplane mode on and off and there is no improvement. I've also reset network settings and still nothing.
Forgive my ignorance, but I am not a tech person so if anyone can help you kind of need to phrase things like you're talking to a small child. Please though, if anyone has any suggestions I would SO appreciate it!

    Could this be the problem?
    iPhone 4 Modem Firmware : 3.0.04
    iPhone 4S Modem Firmware : 2.0.10
Wifi is working on my iPhone 4, NOT on 4S -
Why is my new 4S I got yesterday using a 2.0.10 firmware, isn't that old?! Isn't the newest 4.0+?
I am so tired of trying to figure this out.
The Wi-Fi addresses in the About settings are different on both phones too.
