Count Application sessions and closing them.

Hi,
There are few applications developed in VC. When user logs in portal and switches from one application to the other for few times, when he clicks on some application for the seventh time, its throwing an error.
'The maximum number of application sessions for this user session has been exceeded'.
So I want to count the number of application sessions when the user is logged in and how to close the sessions once he clicks on the next iview.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.
Best Wishes

Hi IdhayaR,
Did you find a solution?

  • Full startup disc, applications freezing and closing down

    Hi,
My computer is freezing and closing applications down. It says my startup disk is full. My HD has 120GB and 113GB of it are used. But my iPhotos and iTunes only take up approx 40GB. Where is the rest of the space?? Help topics recommended to check Consol messages; I have 3,524 but have no idea what they mean or what to do about them. For example, the latest is
    06/10/2013 23:15:34
    Finder[144]
    pearlBrowserSelectionChanged.
Can anyone help please? Many thx in advance!

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as "Backups." The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
To locate large files, you can use Spotlight. That method may not find large folders that contain a lot of small files.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders. It may take some minutes for ODS to list all the files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Application Builder and Closing

    Hi
Already, another problem has arisen. I have developed a simple VI with no big thing inside. I am using an event structure for handling button presses. To quit my application, I have one button, labeled Quit (who would've guessed) which quits the application. I simply wired that button to the quit terminal of the event structure (ok, to the quit terminal of the while structure around the event structure).
I have also built this application with  the Application Builder into a .exe file. I managed to get that Run/Pause buttons away. by checking the appropriate checkboxes inside AppBuilder. But now, what happens is as follows:
    * I quit my application by using the red X of the window - everything closes down fine, the window disappears *perfect*
    * I quit my application by using the button - the program stops, but the run button appears.
How can I avoid that behaviour?
    Thanks for your advice

There's a function in Application Control which is used to close LV once everything's done executing.  Be careful when using it while developing, as it will close all open vi's.  Granted you get the option to save them, but it's annoying nonetheless.

MY screen continually freezes up. I've tried closing all apps that are open and have held down the home button and start button simultaneously but neither helped. Can someone out there help me?

Well the next couple of things to try would be to reset all settings, and if that doesn't help, it's probably time to restore the iOS software.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. That will take all settings on the iPad back to factory defaults. It will not delete anything and you will not lose any data, but you will have to enter all settings again ...WiFi passwords, enable Siri, select your wallpaper, adjust brightness, turn on location services and set privacy settings, etc, etc.
You can read about restoring the software here.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software - Support - Apple
Should you decide to restore the iOS, it is extremely important that you back up first so that you can restore from the backup and then sync with iTunes afterward in order to restore all content back to the iPad. It is all covered in the kb article.
If you do not sync with iTunes, then I assume that you backup with iCloud. In that case you can erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings. Once again, backing up with I loud is I,operative before you do this so that you can restore from the iCloud backup after you erase the iPad and start over again with activation.
You should read this first before you restore from either backup.

  • How do I count digital pulses and convert them to an x-axis unit?

I am a grad student in Chemistry and I have undertaken a project to switch an old spectroscopic instrument from a stepper motor chart recorder to a digital interface.
    I am using Labview 7.1.
I just measured the signals coming from the instrument, so I know exactly what I am working with.
I have one constant, 100mV, digital pulse--which was used to drive the stepper motor a set # of wavenumbers for a given amount of pulse. I need to convert this signal to correlate with wavenumbers--on the x-axis of my final waveform graph.
The other signal is an analog signal, up to 250 mV, which is coming from a photomultiplier tube and represents my y-axis of my final waveform graph.
I am using the NI BNC-2110 DAQ board.
Should I design the program based from just the AI Aquire Waveform.vi? Add a Count Events or Time vi. for the digital pulse?
Could anyone give me some hints with my initial setup/layout?

    Hints:
Figure out what is the modle number of your DAQ device. I think the model you cited is just a break-out box.
Depending on your hardware you may be able to use the step pulses to clock your A/D conversions.
The number of sample will be the number of steps so all you need is a conversion factor to convert sample count totoal to wavelength.
Others may offer better ideas so stand by.

  • Does firefox create multiple restore sessions and save them?

Sometimes my computer crashes twice in a row, or things happen similar to this. When this happens, the "Restore Session" is not available on the history dropdown menu. Why is that? Is there a way to make this happen? No way can I go through the total history - thousands of websites and some don't say what they are when looking at the URL or title. I don't want to save all the time - this is a basic function that could easily be done automatically.
Is there a solution to this?

Firefox should not be crashing, if t is maybe that is something to investigate.
Firefox does try to save Restore Sessions, but if you close down incorrectly or crash frequently they are going to get messed up.
Always try to close correctly, which on an XP will be by using the File option (Newer Windows sytems have the quit option under the new Firefox Button)
Have a look at the article
    * [[Restore previous session - Configure when Firefox shows your most recent tabs and windows]]
    * and also possibly consider [[firefox hangs#w_delete-duplicated-session-restore-files]]_delete-duplicated-session-restore-files

  • Is there a way to load a tab group that I named and closed WITHOUT using "restore previous session", "recently closed tabs/windows" which doesn't restore it..

    grouped some tabs, named them and closed them; did some activity afterwards; closed FF and restarted;
    tried options mentioned above, but they did not restore that tab group - seems to be already classified as "not belonging to previous session", or whatever;
    the name of the tab group can still be found in the sessionstore.js file tho;
is there any way to search for named group tabs and load them?
    If not, pls implement that - otherwise the use of grouping tabs does not make sense to me, and I would not see any reason to use it;
Please restore the "Bookmark all tabs" functionality in the bookmarks menu. Users need to know that this option is available, and should have easy access to the functionality of a software product to be able to use the options, not to have to turn to google every time to figure out if the browser that they are currently using is able to do this or that, and if yes how they can invoke the desired functionality.
    Thank you.

did not have that extension installed, but did it now and can't find anything there that would concern tab groups. (also referred to as Panorama). This session manager seems to provide a lot of stuff that the browser is supposed to do anyhoo, but with more options of configuration. Hope extension and browser won't cause a mess while attempting to do both the same thing.
Yes, I know that Bookmark all tabs is still available via right click - after a google-search told me so. My feedback was - why remove functionality from the menu? It's really not overloaded - and I'd expect a menu listing me the complete set of functions a software allows me to do, unless it busts the menu. So I was just asking myself - how come it has been removed? Makes no sense to me.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • How do I make sure that all Firefox sessions are closed so I can download 6.0? Keep getting a dialogue box saying that only 1 can be open at a time. Only 1 IS open, and I need this update to meet a system requirement for an online class.

Not sure what I can add to that. I actually shut down my Mac to make sure no sessions were open before I tried again. Help.

  • Opening and Closing Sessions...

What is the suggested practice for opening and closing communication
sessions in an application. Do use viOpenDefaultRM at the beginning and use
this as a global object or do we use good object oriented design practice
and use viOpenDefaultRM and then use viOpen to open communication in a local
set of varibles in the function or sub and then close both objects before
    exiting.
    Please comment,
    Gary

You may do whichever you prefer.
Each instrument class I create does it's own OpenDefaultRM and keeps the return value internally.
I know many people who do not use object oriented languages and simply keep the DefaultRM value in a global variable.
As far as the recommended practice, I don't know of any official recommendation regarding this detail.

  • Firefox claims that it is already running and will not let me start a new session after closing out

I've been having this problem intermittently on both my Dell XPS 8000 and my HP nx7400 laptop. The Dell is running the latest version of Windows 7 Pro and the HP is running XP Pro (fully updated). After closing out of a Firefox session and running other apps, Firefox will not let me initiate another session, saying that "Firefox is already running... Please close the session..." That's not an exact quote, but you get the idea. CTRL-ALT-DEL and all other conventional means don't work and I am forced to reboot the system. This is a royal pain.. and I need some pain relief! Any suggestions? I may revert to an earlier version of Firefox until I see a solution... can't hurt, but I really like 4.0 and I don't look at going backwards as "progress."
    Thanks.

If the Office updates have to be run through Win in Parallels, there's not really a section here that covers that , because Neither Office or Parallels are Apple products. • Opening and closing 3rd party applications ??

Does opening and closing 3rd party applications with the click of the home button actually close the application, or, does it continue running in the back ground ?
I noticed most of the 3rd party application don't have a close/exit option, and wonder if opening and closing several applications with the home button can cause the many crashes I have read from fellow iPhone owners ?

Clicking the Home button may close the application depending on the application itself. Some applications that use the network may close when going to the Home screen. To force quit any application, hold the Home button down for about 6 seconds until the Home screen comes up.
