Counter Base Maintenance plan.
Hi all,
I had created counter base maintenance plan, speciefied equipment,in equipment maintained measuring point.
Then I created measuring point document, in this I had put 50 volt as my reading & click on SAVE,
then system immediated give masage create noti/service order.
if Yes then it create service order.
Now my question is is there any need to shedule maintenance plan?
Please tell me process of counter base maintenance plan.

Hi
Maint plan for coutner
Create the maintenance plan with maintenance strategy(IP11) which suits the performance parameter. Assign proper maintenance item to maintenance plan.
If only one measurement point is created for technical object then it will be automatically picked up otherwise select appropriate among the available once. Set the scheduling parameter according to requirement & specify the start reading. Start reading is in reference to which maintenance plan starts scheduling.
Example: Maintenance cycle is 90 run hrs., Start reading is 6 hrs and annual estimation given in measurement point = 360 Hrs (1hrs/day). Scheduling period = 365 day. Current Measuring point reading = 1 hrs on 1st Jan 06.
Schedule plan on 1st Jan 06.
Call no. @Hrs @Date
1 6+90=96 1st April 06
2 96+90 = 186 1st July.
System schedule call date based on annual estimation and its keep on shifting as counter reading increases with time. System will trigger the call object on schedule date even if measurement reading will not reach the specified value.
Scheduling of maintenance plan
Once maintenance plan is created it needs to be scheduled at regular interval. Single plan can be scheduled by IP10 and Multiple plan by IP30. (Called Deadline monitoring) This can be done manually or batch job can be created.
hope this will help. also please refere saphelp.com for further info

Counter based maintenance plan triggered improperly
Hi,
we have created one counter based maintenance plan with cycle unit 1000 hours offset unit 0 hours this plan was created on 21.04.2008 . But 68 orders triggered on 19.04.2011 why it was happend.
how find start of cycle reading for the Maintenance plan?
Regards
GaneshHi,
Counter based plan will work based on the Measuring point assigned to that.
In Measuring Point, you would have defined the Annual Estimate. Based on the Annual Estimate & Cycle value in Plan & Scheduling period in the plan, based on all these, call object would be generated.

Change counter in maintenance plan
Dear all,
i cannot change the counter in a maintenance plan. The field is dark. Is it really not possible to change it?
Thanks & BRHI,
Please refer the document page no.37 from the link.

Counter base maintenance and multiple counter maintenance
Hi
With refering to the counter base order generated in the system, i have confused.
We have the plans 100, 200, 300 to max 2000 Hours. The task lists are assigned. The maintenance plan annual estimate is 4000 Hours (i dont know why its required if the measurment documents are in use) ..
The system is regularely generating the orders eventhough we have measurement docuements upto 300 Hours. Last week we have no measurement updates.
Can you give me the logic, functionality of the performance maintennace. I have read SAP help which is not explaining in practical manner.
Also how to work for multiple counter maintenance. We have to do for DAY (30 Days, 60 days. 180, 360 Days) Wise or Hour wise (300, 900, 1500, 3500, 7000 Hours maintenance. Can you tell me how to work for this on single maintennace plan..since our equipment also only one.Hi,
This appears to be a typical multiple counter plan situation consisting of performance based and time based elements. The performance cycles are based on operating hours and time is the elapsed days.
The relevant section of SAP Help is - [here|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/d8/e06a1f7e9c144fbb3a3ed0c38bc38a/frameset.htm]
See point 3-Scheduled date calculation. In particular:
The annual performance recorded for the counters and the most up-to-date counter reading are used to calculate the corresponding planned date.
Annual Estimate is used to calculated planned date meaning that calls can occur before the actual counter readings are reached.

Running Hours Base Maintenance Plan
Hi,
I have a scenario in which I need to create maintenance plan on running hours base. e.g. There is a generator which should be scheduled to plan according to 2000 running hours, 4K run hrs, 8K run hrs, 16K run hrs, ......
Now the tasks which are used in 2K plan will be repeated in 4K plan. and so on. How can I configure it in PM.
Kindly help, I shall be grateful to all.
Best Regards,
Ibne KhalilFirst you will create a measruing point/counter for calculting the running hours. Now create a task list with maintenance strategies 2k, 4k, 8 k etc. now define the operations in the task list. In the maintebnance package define whcih operations you want to define for whcih operation. Suppose for 2k running hors you need only operation number 10, so select the maintenance package 2k only for operation 10. For 4k running hours you want operation 10 and 20 , then in maintenance package , for operation 10 select select 2k, and 4k and for operation number 20 selecct package 4k. SO operation 10 will come for 2k maintenance and also for 4 k maintenace and operation number 20 will only come for 4k running hours. Hope it will solve your problem.

Dear All,
i´m not sure. Is it advisable to use a own counter for each maintenance plan and is it better to create a own performance-based maint. plan for each equipment?
Thanks for your help!
AndreasActually, it depends on your requirement. A counter is created for an equipment and when you create a maintenance plan with performance based units in the cycle, the counter is automatically proposed from the equipment master data based on the unit mentioned in the cycle or performance based strategy.
You can create a single maintenance plan for multiple equipments using multiple maintenance items but for this, you need to ensure that all of the performance based units are the same for all equipments and the cycle length/strategy cycles is the same for all such equipments. -
Settings for performance based maintenance plan
Hi experts,
Incase of hour or Km dependent performance base plan, how we can fix the reading (In hours or Km) limit or period of order generation? what is the impact of annual estimate? Please give me an example with all readings.
Regards,When you create a plan with a counter (Associate a measurement point of counter type to the same), then you would be able to specify at what intervals (Counter readings for this measurement point), the call object associated to the Maintenance plan should be generated.
The actual call date for this maintenance plan however depends on the "Annual estimate " for the measurement point counter and also the actual counter readings captured for the measurement point
For ex: Annual estimate maintained for the Point : 12,000 Miles .Maintenance for this equipment should be triggered for every 1000 Miles (This should be the counter interval maintained for the Maintenance plan). Based on the above the maintenance plan would generated a call every one month (Annual estimate / period). As an example, when this Maintenance plan is scheduled for 1 yr, then 12 maintenance calls will be generated one each for every month. The actual and scheduled dates for the call depends on the various other scheduling parameters maintained for the Plan.
Its critical for any counter based maintenance plan that the counter reading is Captured , Through measurement documents regularly, EVEN IF THERE IS NO CHANGE TO THE COUNTER READING, Otherwise, the system generates call objects (for example, maintenance orders) based on the estimated annual performance entered for the counter, even though the counter reading has not in reality been reached.
for ex: owing to a vehicle breakdown/ repair if the vehicle has been in repair shop for a month,To avoid a maintenance order being created before it is needed, you maintain the new total counter reading in the system regularly over the period of the month. You then reschedule the maintenance plan using IP30, and the call date is recalculated based on the updated counter reading. In this case, the call date would be later.

What is the use of OR and AND functions in counter based maint plan
Hi
I want to create a counter based maintenance plan...
I entered the measurement reading for the counter, reading is 4000 hrs
IN IP43
I created the counter plan with cycle as 6000 hrs. Once the document reaches 6000 order will be created. While creating the maintenance plan, in the maintenance schedule parameters, i check there is OR and AND functions avaliable...
I know the basic use of both the functions..
But what is the significance in the maintenance plan....
Will it give any effect, between the schedule date and measurement docu entries...
Since i need to maintain like... once the counter reaches 6000 hrs only order should be created.. it should not create once the date as been reached... since due to present condition, i am not running the DG....
Give ur inputs
- PithanHi
Thank you for your reply
As you said...
If you want order to be created only after certain Hrs to be reached to cycle value then you may opt for single cycle or strategy cycle
can u explain how to do it...
In single cycle or stratergy... if u schedule the plan itself, the dates will be populated.. it will calculate with respect to the annual reading we have entered in the measurement document...
My DG overhaul to be taken in every 6000 hrs... i create a plan... i have given the annual reading as 8000 hrs... if i schedule the plan for 5 yrs... wat will be the call objects...
Then i am running the DG for 3 hours a day... my annual running hrs will be 1000 hours.. but my order will be released since it has crossed the dates...
how to control... is it possible to do it in IP43 with multiple counter...
How to do this ?
Cna u explain

Dear All,
I have the following requirement, would be of great help if you can help me get the solution:
Their is a pump which is to be maintained. The orders need to be generated on the basis of two parameters:
1. Number of hours the pump has ran. This can be recorded against measuring point.
2. Number of calendar days elapsed.
The maintenance order should be created which ever condition is met first. For example: Every 200 hrs the pump runs, a maintenance order should be created also if the time elapsed is 2 months the order should be created. Now whatever of the above two comes first the order should be created against that only.
Can anyone please tell how to achieve this.
I have thought of two options though they dont look good:
Option 1: Create two maintenance plan. Delete/TECO the extra order generated.
Option 2: Create one maintenance plan with multiple counters, one for running hours and the other for calendar days. Keep OR relation. But here we need to update calendar days counter every day which is not feasible.
Thanks
GeravineHi...
First of all you have to create the Measuring Counter for your Pump using the T.code IK01 and then post the initial measurement document against the measuring counter using T.code IK11.
After above create the Cycle set for Multiple counter using T.Code IP11Z, and define the Cycle for your Multiple Counter Plan.
In your condition, define the cycle length as "2" and UOM as "MON" and second cycle length as "200" and UOM as "HRS" and also provide the short text for Cycle short text as per you convenience. This is one time activity.
Then create the Multiple counter Plan using the T.Code IP43 and cycle set created in earlier step. Provide the Technical Object i.e. Pump (Most probably Equipment) all other details are copied from it. Enter the created Measuring Counter for your Technical Object in the Maintenance Plan Cycle Tab against the 200 Hrs Row in Counter Columns. In the Second Tab i.e. Maintenance Plan scheduling parameter Choose "OR" Link . Enter the value Scheduling Period which help you to show the future plan in advance.
And as per requirement you can also check the box available for Completion Requirement, Check the box if you required that New Maintenance Order will not be generate until the previous order is get closed.
Hope this will resolve your query -
Maintenance plans for Backward counter
Is it possible for having a preventive maintenance plan for a measurement point that counts backwards?
Your inputs on this will be appreciated!Help !
I am looking for help with Counters and Timers and using them with a Maintenance Plan. We have about 10 count down timers mounted in one of our facilities. These timers are tied to the machine and measures the time until a mini or major PM will occur. These count down timers were previously used with the old CMMS system to assist in the scheduling of maintenance activities. We have recently converted them from the old CMMS to SAP PM but I am struggling with getting the count down timers to work in SAP. These timers are reset at 5000 hrs and as the machine operates, time is removed from the timer. A technician periodically reports these times to the system for scheduling purposes.
I have created the Measurement Point for a Functional Location.
I have identified that it is a counter.
I have it identified that it Counts Backwards.
When I try to assign this measurement point to a Maintenance Plan, I get the error "Only counters that run forwards can be entered"
How can I use the countdown timers to create pre configured (PM) work orders?
Thanks in advance. -
Counter based maintenance Maintenance plan
Dear all,
I Required help from all of you , I have made one no maintenaance plan with following details :
Annual estimate 120000 Nos
cycle lenth 10000 Nos
schedule the plan 0 Nos and
Plan date call date Next planed counter reading
1 22.2.2011 22.2.2011 New start Hold 10000
2 23.03.2011 23.03.2011 Scheduled Hold 20000
3 22.04.2011 22.04.2011 Scheduled Hold 30000
4 23.05.2011 23.05.2011 Scheduled Hold 40000
5 22.06.2011 22.06.2011 Scheduled Hold 50000
6 22.07.2011 22.07.2011 Scheduled Hold 60000
7 22.08.2011 22.08.2011 Scheduled Hold 70000
8 21.09.2011 21.09.2011 Scheduled Hold 80000
9 22.10.2011 22.10.2011 Scheduled Hold 90000
10 21.11.2011 21.11.2011 Scheduled Hold 100000
11 22.12.2011 22.12.2011 Scheduled Hold 110000
12 21.01.2012 21.01.2012 Scheduled Hold 120000
In this case system check both pland date and next planned counter readind and generate the maintenance order on the call date although next planned counter reading not reach uptpo the planned counter.
But our clint want the maintenance order on next planned counter reading only not on call date please help me the any solution for fullfilling the requirment.
RaghavHi Raghav,
Maintenance order will be generated on counter reading entered in measuring document only.
It is the annual estimate because of which we can see the planned & call dates, which are used for maintenance planning purpose.
Call date and plan dates keep on changing according to measurement documents creation. You create the any measurement document against the same counter which used in plan and see whether dates changes or not.
Dates get changed on counter reading and hence order is generated on counter reading only, not on the dates shown in scheduling as dates are dependent on counter reading.
Sundar -
HI Friends,
We have created a counter based startegy plan. the order should be generated at 500/1000/2000 hours.
Current counter reading is 5, still when the maintenance plan was scheduled 3 orders got generated for the same day.
Could you let me know why this happened? isithis standard system behaviour.
thnaks in advance
Warn regards
VivekHi
counter based plan count the counter on the basis of annual estimate in measuring point
and on the basis of that value only generate the order
so enter the practical value in annual estimate
keep the scheduling period small
try background scheduling
hope will be work

Error while creating measurment documents for a counter (counter based strategy Plan)
Dear Experts
Pl suggest the possible solution for below case
I have a counter based preventive maintenance Plan of 100km, 200km,..... with op1,op2,..... respectively.
Now I have done maintenance for 600 km and going to enter another reading in IK11.
Here, system is giving error
Counter reading in doc. 251591 larger than in subsequent doc. 251585
Message no. IR171
Diagnosis
No counter overflow reading has been defined for the measuring point, and the counter reading that you have entered is larger than the one in the subsequent measurement document.
This is not allowed, since the counter is not marked as running backwards.
System Response
Processing will not be continued.
Procedure
Check your entries and the counter data of the measuring point.
screen shot for measurement document earlier created is asHi Akhilesh
okay . I have not found any error in my last and current reading date and time
screen shot is attached again here for ur reference
now, what thing I have to checked, pl suggest.
