Counter reading transfer to system

Hi Experts,
I want to implement the counter based maintenance, wherein the counter's reading need to be read every day manually at fixed timings.
My client is a process industry having a complex structure of Equipment having a 1000s of different counters in form of pressure gauges and temperature recorders.
This need to be read and recorded at every morning by the respective area maintenance team. Now my quarry is,
1)  Since it's not possible to remember the overall number of gauges and meters , which need to be read every time and there's a big chance of manual mistake/missing reading, can we have some option into system, wherein we can map these gauges and prepare a schedule so that user can check the date vise schedule and check the reading for only these counters.
2)  Once reading has been taken manually for all the measuring points/counters , how these can be transferred into system for mass creation of  the measuring documents for these different measuring points / Counters? Is there any standard transaction available for this, instead of creating LSMW for data upload ?
Please provide your inputs..

Hi Dennis,
We resemble your client and have gone through all these phases.
1. Hope you know about Entry Lists (IK31). Segregate your  1000s of measuring points as per their schedules (frequency of reading). Suppose you came out with 12 lists. Now make 12 Maintenance plans (Notifications) each having the frequencies as cycle periods. In the Plan title give the Entry list Number and Timing of Measurement also. like "Measurements with Entry list 243, at 10:00 AM".
The whole purpose is to remind you through a system Notification that you are supposed to take readings on the measuring points in the Entry List. Then you run IK34  and take readings for that list of measuring points.
2, If you insist on Standard  method of recording mass measuring documents, I think i have already answered. The answer is  the Entry List. (See picture attached)
Coming out of the standard methods (Entry List method)
We have 2 more models in use,
1. Module pool (Screen program) development, to upload the readings. (See picture)
In the attached picture only a part of the screen is shown, It is a wide screen, having input fields for all types of Measuring points (About 120)
Input Process.
Enter all readings in the respective slots and click Save
2.  BDC program using Excel template : This program also gives similar convenience as above, by filling the Excel sheet (See picture) and then upload through a Tcode. (I need not elaborate that in this case we will be having 12 Excel templates named after the Entry Lists having the respective measuring points already filled)
Bottom line from my side
The ultimate user-friendliness in this area of one-stroke uploading of mass measuring documents can not avoid the ABAP  development.
... And I prefer BDC  program to a  Module pool program.
I hope you've got useful inputs.

  • Issue in Transfer Counter Reading

    Dear PM EXperts
I want to transfer counter reading of 10 subequipment to one superior equipment' counter in such a way that superior equipment's counter reading should show the sum of all sub equipment' counter reading.
Plz give ur valuable inputs on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Rakesh

    Hi,
My understanding is that you want the 10 lower level equipments to accumulate counter readings and then transfer the sum of these values to a single counter on a higher level equipments ?
The standard counter reading transfer does not work in this way, it is really a one-to-one transfer from a particular counter to another counter or from a higher level counter down to multiple subordinates.
Looks like you need some custom functionality to read the sub-equipment counters, add them up and then transfer this to the main counter.

  • Crashes and read-only file systems

Notice: I apolgize for the long post, I've tried to be as thorough as possible.  I have searched everywhere for possible solutions, but things I've found end up being temporary workarounds or don't apply to my situation.  Any help, even as simple as, "have you checked out XYZ log, it's hidden here", would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
I'm not sure what exactly caused the issues below, but they did start to happen within a day of running pacman -Syu.  I hadn't run that since I first installed Arch on December 2nd of this year.
    Setup:
    Thinkpad 2436CTO
    UEFI/GPT
    SSD drive
    Partitions: UEFISYS, Boot, LVM
The LVM is encrypted and is broken up as: /root, /var, /usr, /tmp, /home
All LVM file systems are EXT4 (used to have /var and /tmp as ReiserFS)
The first sign that something was wrong was gnome freezing.  Gnome would then crash and I'd get booted back to the shell with all filesystems mounted as read-only.  I started having the same issues as this OP:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150704
At the time, I had /var and /tmp as ReiserFS, and would also get reiserfs_read_locked_inode errors.
When shutting down (even during non-crashed sessions) I would notice this during shutdown:
    Failed unmounting /var
    Failed unmounting /usr
Followed by a ton of these:
device-mapper: remove ioctl on <my LVM group> failed: Device or resource busy
Nother of these errors had ever appeared before.
After hours of looking for solutions (and not finding any that worked) I was convinced (without any proof) that my Reiser file systems were corrupt and so I reformatted my entire SSD and started anew - not the Arch way, I know   I set all logical volumes as EXT4.
    After started anew, I noticed
device-mapper: remove ioctl on LVM_SysGroup failed: Device or resource busy
was still showing up, even with just a stock Arch setup (maybe even when powering off via Arch install ISO, don't remember).  After a lot of searching, I found that most people judged it a harmless error, so I ignored it and continued setting up Arch.
I set up Gnome and a basic LAMP server, and everything seemed to work for a couple of hours.  Soon after, I got the same old issues back.  The System-journald issue came back and per the workaround on https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150704 and a couple other places, I rotated the journals and stopped journald from saving to storage.  That seemed to stop THOSE errors from at least overwhelming the shell, but I would still get screen freezes, crashes, and read-only file systems.
I had to force the laptop to power off, since poweroff/reboot/halt commands weren't working (would get errors regarding the filesystems mounted as read-only).
I utilized all disk checking functions possible.  From running the tests (SMART test included) that came as part of my laptop's BIOS to full blown fsck.  All tests showed the drive was working fine, and Fsck would show everything was either clean, or
    Clearing orphaned inode ## (uid=89, gid=89, mode=0100600, size=###
Free blocks count wrong (###, counted=###)
Which I would opt to fix.  Nothing serious, though.
I could safely boot back into Arch and use the system fine until the system decides to freeze/crash and do the above all over again.
The sure way of recreating this for me is to run a cron job on a local site I'm developing. After a brief screen freeze (mouse still moveable but everything is otherwise unreponsive) I'll systemctl status mysqld.service and notice that mysqld went down.
It seems that it's at this point my file systems are mounted as read only, as trying to do virtually anything results in:
unable to open /var/db/sudo/...: Read-only file system
After some time, X/Gnome crashes and I get sent back to shell with
    ERROR: file_stream_metrics.cc(37)
    RecordFileError() err = 30 source = 1 record = 0
    Server terminated successfully (0)
Closing log file.or_delegate.h(30)] sqlite erro1, errno 0: SQL logic error or missing database[1157:1179
rm: cannot remove '/tmp/serverauth.teuroEBhtl': Read-only file system
Before all this happened, I was using Arch just fine for a few weeks.  I wiped the drives and started anew, and this still happens with just the minimal number of packages installed.
I've searched for solutions to each individual problem, but come across a hack that doesn't solve anything (like turning off storing logs for journal), or the solution doesn't apply to my case.
At this point, I'm so overwhelmed I'm not even sure where exactly to pick up figuring this issue out.
Thanks in advance for any help

Did this occur when you booted from the live/install media?
What is your current set up? That is, partitions, filesystems etc. I take it you have not yet reinstalled X but are in the default CLI following installation?
If turning off log storage didn't help, reenable it so that you may at least stand a chance of finding something useful.
What services, if any, are you running? What non-default daemons etc.?
Does it happen if you keep the machine off line?
Have you done pacman -Syu since installation and dealt with any *.pacnew files?

  • Enter Counter reading in work order or time confirmation

    Gurus,
Is there a way to enter a counter reading when confirming time on an operation without creating a measuring document with IK11 on a functional location ? Something that would allow a maintenance operator to enter more naturally counter readings in the system upon completing a maintenance taks.
    Thanks for your insights,
    Olivier

    Hi
in general maintenance order is only confirmed with resources consumed.
what is need of conter reading record  at the time of confirmation maintenance order. counter is connected to technical objectsif you explain in detail the purpose of recording counter reading.
    any more details please...

  • Measurement reading transfer

    Dear PM Experts,
can any one help me regard Measurement reading transfer. In which scenario we use this one , how its impacts on measuring point / counter and measuring document? please suggest me. i am toomuch confusing regard this one.

    Hi,
Measurement reading transfer occurs when a reading at a particular measurement point also updates another or multiple other measurement points. So the reading that is used to update counter A also updates counter B (and maybe C,D,E....).
This typically occurs in an equipment structure where a reading at one level will also update the counters linked to the sub-equipments. If counter A is linked to a airplane - any flying hours recorded to counter A should also be recorded on both engines (counters B and C).

Any pointers why it is not going for a smart scan? the table is not huge either it has only 27000+ records.

Taking away exadata from the picture, delete's have lot of overhead to be performed ( extra level of locking, maintaining indexes, buffer cache operations, redo/undo maintenance  etc ..) than selects. From the delete sql explain plan , its going for a  FTS(TABLE ACCESS STORAGE FULL), which is good and expected with Exadata.

  • Spare Parts withdrawal at specific counter reading report

    Dear Sirs,
My client needs to know which spare sparts parts are withdrawn on a certain vehicle at which exact counter reading so i want to find a link between material withdrawn and measurement documents,
    i appreciate any help
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
This report may be a challenge because you need to find the date when the material was issued and maybe the measurement document was created a few days before; how often you have reading on your system?
You can use following tables to create your custom report:
    IMRG      measurement document
    AUFM      Goods movement for order
AFIH     Maintenance order header and equipment
IMPTT      Measurement point and equipment number

  • MORE THAN 26 DAYS AND COUNTING TO CHANGE A SYSTEM BOARD. Got the parts, GOT laptop.

I have been trying to get my laptop to be fixed through my EasyServ Warranty.
The first time I called and started the process was June 6th, 2008. It took them until June 18th, 2008 to return my laptop, but They put in it the WRONG SYSTEM BOARD. Can you believe that THE WRONG SYSTEM BOARD.
In June 18th, 2008 I called to report that. They send me another box to return the laptop to them so they could fix THEIR mistake.
Now, I have been trying to figure out what is going on with my laptop, but every time I call 1-800-887-7435 I get deferent status, It depends on the person who answers the phone. Some of them said "They are working on the machine", and anothers say " It is on hold for parts and we can not tell for how long".
I recalled the technical support to see if they could do anything about, but they said THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING. Basically I am in my own.
I use my laptop for work, and before this I had the best experience with technical support. It seems like they just do not give a s**** about customers satisfactions.

Did anybody have any experience like this? or is it just my d**n luck?

Lenovo have to call their customer number too, and the Solectron people like to put them on hold. Only when a Lenovo Executive gets involved like Mark_Lenovo can any problem with Solectron get resolved, as normal worker wouldn't have special contact numbers within the Solectron's management. So Lenovo call center workers get as frustrated as you if not more, as they hear complaints after complaints about them been thick and incompetent regarding depot repairs, when there is nothing more they can do, but obviously customers don't know the full story.

  • Relevance of primary counter reading

    Dear Friends,
What is the relevance of primary counters in the fleet management equipment master data ? Will the system automatically propose that a equipment is due for maintenance once the primary counter reading reaches or surpasses this odometer replacement or hour replacement reading ?

First of All, What I get from your question is you have a equipment with more than 2 counters.
So, to make preventive maintenance for the equipment, it's depends on your maintenance plan's settings.
    If you use :
Adometer As a counter, you could use Performance-based strategic maintenance plan
Hour as a counter, you could use Time-based strategic maintenance plan
or if you want to get all of the counters or only one of them intact, you can use multiple maintenance planning with multiple counter plan instead.
Please, Correct me if I'm wrong.
    Hope it's gonna help.

  • Service order creation based on counter reading assigned to the Ibase.

    Hi All,
I've created a service contract (ZXXX) with the item category (ZIT1) of service plan.
In the item category (ZIT1) definition i've copied the standard item cat. of service plan (SPLA) and assigned the standard date profile SERVPLAN to the item category.
Requirement - Service order has to be created automatically if the counter reading assigned to the Ibase is greater than counter reading that is maintained in the service plan template that is assigned to the service plan product(Item) in the service contract transaction.
    Master Data -
Service Interval Template - Created service plan template for counter based interval and maintained the interval as 100HR.
Assigned the template to service plan product(item) which is assigned in the service contract.
Created a counter ID and assigned the counter to the Ibase.
In the item date profile SERVPLAN , I've assigned the date rule (Planned time based on the counter reading) to 'Release date' date type.
In the item action profile ., Action is defined as it should create a service order (ZSER) with the template defined in the item if the (Release date =< today's date) as start condition.
I've maintained the complete master data.
Now Release date should be picked based on the counter reading of the Ibase assigned to the service plan item in the service contract.
If Ibase counter reading > counter reading maintained in the interval the release date = todays date.
If Ibase counter reading < counter reading maintained in the interval the release date = future date.
which is not happening now in my case. service order is getting created even the counter reading of Ibase is less than the interval.
Please let me know if further more changes to be done to map the scenario.
    Thanks
    Syam

    Hello,
    I found the following:
If you fill someting in the fields REFOBJ_IBASE, this value is being converted into a GUID internally
    This happens in function CRM_BSP_OIC_1O_SEARCH_FROM_RF
So you have to make sure that the search field REFOBJ_IBASE points towards the field CRMD_SRV_REFOBJ~GUID_OBJECT ( via table CRMC_REPDY )
And even then I have the impression it only works when you only fill the Ibase in the order. When you fill the component there is a different GUID.
In my case I found out it is even more complex, so I will need to create my own search field (extend search structure )

    Dear Vijay
The counter reading is available in IMRG table in field CNTRR. It is available in exponential form. you need to convert to decimal from using the FM FLTP_CHAR_CONVERSION_FROM_SI
