Counterfeit cartridge

This is Meetu.
I have purchased Deskjet printer 1050 ALL-IN-ONE just 2 days back i.e. on 17th April from Advance Computer Shoppe, D-118, Fateh Nagar, Jail Road.
And I have printed just around 40 pages and its cartridge has been completely depleted. It is giving the message that the cartridge is Used, Refilled or Counterfeited.
When I called up at the support centre (ph. no. 25132586),the person there told me that in the new printers demo cartridge is used and it depends, it can print 40 pages or 50 pages, henceforth he was also not sure of its reliability.
Now my question is why didn't they tell in advance about it and how can they give fake cartridges and dupe customers and waste their hard-earned money????
Please revert back and I hope you take action against this matter as soon as possible.
Regards

  • Counterfeit print cartridge?

Hi, I just purchased a new laser cartridge for my 1005. With that cartridge the supply status page does not show anything. No serial number, no fill status, remaining pages, etc. Could it be the HP shop sold my a counterfeit cartridge? If I look at the box it has a smaller format as the box of the cartridge I bought before. Kind Regards

  • HP 5510 all in one reads "print cartridge error"

Printer will not reset after I installed  new HP black cartridge.  I cleaned cartidges and printer heads as per HP instructions,
but same error message remains.  Is there a way to reset the printer?

Hello @mainelym , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are running into cartridge errors.  I would like to help.
I would recommend removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset on the printer.Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

  • Used black ink from my HP Photosmart C6380 won't work in my new HP Photosmart 7525

The black ink from my HP Photosmart C6380 won't work in my new HP Photosmart 7525.  The cartridge is a 564 for both printers.  However, I get the message that the ink cartridge has been used previously even though it is a newer cartridge that I had used in my C6380.  Why won't this work?

    Hello LTron,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see you are looking to use a cartridge previously installed in a different printer, the Photosmart 7525 says it a used cartridge.
If you are trying to use this cartridge before using the setup cartridges that come with the 7525, it will not work. Once the printer is initialized with the setup cartridges you would be able to use other ones.
If you have already used the setup cartridges, this error should only be letting you know that it has been installed in a printer before. Hitting OK, next, etc should clear the error.

  • Counterefeit

I have  a HP DeskJet 3520 which is an excellent printer. I am using genuine HP cartridges purchased at Office Depot and other retailers.  I have been plagued over the last several months with  pop ups that suggest that I am using conterfeit cartridges and that they may need to be 'verfiied' by the retailer.  Life is too short to be running around trying to 'verify' if HP cartridges are indeed real or not and I trust the vendors from whom I purchase such items.
Perhaps like most residential  users, most of my printing is in black ink; the color cartridges then appear as being 'counterfeit' in the pop up.  Should I replace the color cartridges, the black cartridge appears as counterfeit in the pop up.   The pop up stops the printing process entirely until the matter of the 'defective' cartridge is cleared up.   (Note: the pop up can be cleared by merely closing the box and resume the printing)
I am not the type to look for a conspiracy behind every action, but I would suggest that the Defective Cartridge matter is a scam perpetrated by HP itself to 'encourage' customers to purchase their cartridges driectly from the company and thus receive "discounts and other benefits" by doing so, thus insuring a built in market not only for its printers, but also for its cartridges.
I wonder what others might think of this HP matter.  Rick

  • Counterfeit ink cartridge ??

I have a HP B210A All In One printer - I keep getting messages that my Ink cartridge(s) are counterfeit. I'm not buying them at some shady place - buying them from Walmart. Anyone else having this problem? What could cause it?I mentioned it to Walmart when I was there and they laughed at me. So what is one to do?

Just to make you aware... I feel this is a sign of a virus. Walmart swears that their ink cartridges are never counterfeit and are always 100% HP ink cartridges. I began getting this message about 2 years ago on my HP Pavilion computer. Shortly after, I began having blue screens and the computer started acting erratically. I would get continuous error beeps and etc. I did a restore, factory restore, and even installed using the restore disks that the computer helped me make when I first purchased it (the computer was only a two years old). I had installed the printer previously on two different computers and had no problems, but when installed on this computer I chose the "go online" link and installed it that way. I think that the link has a virus attached because after that is when I began having all the problems. Two months ago I bought a new Dell computer, and installed using the printer installation disk and had NO problems with this virus on the new computer. I have scanned all of my mothers 1,000's of photographs so I can make copys on cds for my siblings and stupidly was usign Photoshop to fix some of  the pictures on my new computer via the network instead of just copying them to the new computer and since then the virus has lept thru my network to all 3 computers. I have had a complete nightmare reinstalling windows on each to overwrite the virus. Especially this one because neither I nor the Dell technicians could get the usb they sent me to work, and they ended up installing two new hard drives and a motherboard in this computer and installing windows via a cd. I finally got this accomplished and had 3 CLEAN computers, but when I just installed the printer again using the online link..... nightmare all over again because once again I have the counterfeit ink cartridge pop up. The ink cartridges are brand new and I am more than a little angry! I will now have to reinstall windows 8.1 again beacause I definitely do not want this computer trashed like the Pavilion after all the blue screening and errors. The virus had to be set on a timer because that computer would work absolutely fine for about 4 to 6 weeks and then start blue screening again. If this were a bad hard drive, memory or something like, it would have been continuously blue screening.

  • Counterfeit printer cartridge error

I own a HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus and I used a compatible non-HP printer cartridge.  Ever since doing so, I've been getting this error message on the display (counterfeit ink cartridge).  I've since uninstalled and reinstalled the software as well as replaced the cartridge with an HP brand cartridge and I'm still getting the message.  Is this a quick fix or do I need to take it somewhere for service?

  • Hp 61 cartridge (refill?)/hp deskjet 1050, series J410, landfill printer/scanner

I bought an hp deskjet 1050 (J410 series) printer/scanner, about 3-4 weeks ago, at Future Shop, for $29.99. I used all the ink in the hp 61 black ink cartridge, called a local outlet for a large cartridge refilling business & was told they could refill it. They did.
Now, the printer/scanner is displaying the attached message & refusing to print.
What is the opposite of "green"? Has hp not heard the terms "reduce, reuse and recycle"?
Is hp really so short-sighted that they hired engineers to design printers and cartridges so that the printer won't work after the ink in a cartridge is used?
A new hp deskjet 1050 printer/scanner costs $29.99 at Future Shop. An hp 61 black inkjet cartridge costs $19.99. Do they really intend for the printer to go in a landfill after the ink is used? I used to think hp produced quality products - since I bought my first hp 21 calculator over 35 years ago.
I tried getting rid of the warning message (with the "close" button disabled) by starting Task Manager and ending the task; but the printer still won't print. Do you know of another workaround?
At this point, I'm thinking of returning the printer & shopping for a better alternative.
    Thanks.
    This question was solved.

I would suggest if the message comes up again just say "no".   While HP does not prohibit refilling they are trying to crack down on counterfeiting, where refilled/reman cartridges are sold as genuine HP.
BTW, the refill place likely took your used-once cartridge and gave you a different replacement.  If you had gotten your cartridge back the printer would have recognized it and not shown this message.  I would suggest you contact the refiller for a replacement if cleaning the cartridge contacts as shown here (for a different series, but same principle) does not resolve the issue.
On a related note, I once donated a printer to the local high school.  Some time later I got a call from the teacher that it was not working properly.  They had replaced the #57 cartridge with a refilled one that had bad color in yellow (now green).  We got a replacement and had one of the colors missing.  Finally the third replacement worked.  I asked why they bought refills and the teacher said they were cheaper.  I asked if they were 1/3 the price....  You do get what you pay for.
BTW, I do not work for HP or represent them, I am just a volunteer on this board.
