Counterfeit?!

Midway through installing my CS6 web premium, Student and Teacher edition, the disc was spit out along with a message saying the software appears to be counterfeit. I just perchased it from Amazon new for 450 ish dollars! The box and packaging all seemed very legit, including the whole verification process I had to undergo to use the software. I tried installing it TWICE, each time the same message popped up, rejecting the dic.
It said to contact support, and led me roughly here.
What should I do?

download a trial and activate with your serial number:  http://www.adobe.com/education/products/creativesuite/design-web-premium.edu.html?showEduR eq=no

  • How do you tell if an iPod is counterfeit?

    Hi,
I have wanted an iPod for a while, and I thought I'd get my feet wet by buying a used one before I jumped in and bought a new one. I went out to eBay and purchased a 3rd generation iPod Nano (8GB). There were some problems with the auction that made me suspicious of the seller (I won't go into those here) but ultimately I received the iPod. It looked like it was brand new, coming in a little plastic case with everything enclosed (USB cable, earplugs, and the Nano itself). It even had the protective plastic stickers on the front and back.
The outer packaging looked fine. My first alarm bells rang when I started looking at the little 'Quick Start' booklet. The words in the booklet are English, but the grammar is terrible - it looks like it was translated from another language using a computer program that wasn't too good. For instance, the 'Play/Pause' button is documented on the first page as 'Broadcast/Pause'. The first actual sentence in the guide is "Return can from the CD CD ducting music." - (Judging by the graphic above I would guess that this means "You can copy music from a CD.").
Then I thought, OK, what the heck, maybe the little Quick Start guide is just terrible. I downloaded iTunes and installed it (worked just fine), but iTunes wouldn't recognize the device (which shows up as a USB mass storage device 'Removable drive' under My Computer). I then registered the iPod using the serial number on the back of device (that worked, my only ray of hope so far). I ran through a bunch of diagnostics, etc. Did as much of the 5 R's as I could (since iTunes never shows the device as a source I couldn't do some steps, like restore, but 'Reset' seemed to reset the device, but not to make it show up in iTunes). I restarted the iPod service, etc. Still nothing. Then I tried to get some more detailed help from apple support. I notice that I could do support by serial number, so I entered the serial number from the back of the device again and I got a support screen for 1st/2nd generation iPod Nanos! 3rd generation is physically pretty distinct from 1st/2nd generation, so I know that's not what I have. Then I got my next bad feeling when I noticed that the wording under the serial number on the back of the device (engraved into the metallooked a little weird. It reads: "Designed by Appls in Callfomia. Assemblsd in China". Finally, I entered my serial number in one other place on the support pages (I forget where) and it said that this item had been replaced, and I should enter the serial number for the replacement item instead. Obviously now I'm pretty concerned. Since all of this I've noticed that the serial number printed on the iPod Nano packaging does not match the serial number printed on the back of the iPod Nano itself, and the model numbers don't match either. (The model number on the packaging is A1236 and the model number on the iPod is A1137). Also, the packaging is for a silver version, and I have a black version. I guess it's obvious that the packaging is for a different iPod.
I apologize for the long note - my main questions are these:
    1) In your iPod Nano quick start guides, is the english understandable?
    2) On the back of your iPod Nano, does it say "Designed by Apple in California" or does it say "Designed by Appls in Callfomia"?
    3) If this is a counterfeit, is there someone in Apple that I should contact to help them track this kind of problem?
If this is a counterfeit it's pretty visually convincing (iPod/Apple logos look good, you have to read the fine print to notice something a little off).
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    3) If this is a counterfeit, is there someone in Apple that I should contact to help them track this kind of problem?

  • I think I bought a fake or counterfeit version of Photoshop CS6 extended.  How do I find out for sure.

i am using windows 7 on an HP Pavilion dv6-6108.   I purchased Photoshop CS6 extended.  The guy said it is a full Retail version and "self installs" the serial number and activates.  It doesn't fully install into my control panel programs, instead it puts 2 icons on the desk top for Photoshop, but they have a "install shield" on them.  I can't update (the update and register features are grayed out.under the help menu.  The program opens, but everytime it does, it brings up the window asking if you want to let this program make changes on the computer.  Supposedly the serial number that auto-loads is inscribed on the inner ring of the disk, but you can't really tell what they are.  So I have no way to know what it is.  Lots of other odd ball stuff that makes me doubt the genuineness of the product.  What can I do to establish real or fake? And to get it registered like my other Adobe products.

  • Verification Failure and potential counterfeit software

I recently purchased a student license and DVD Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard for Windows from www.srs.usg.edu, the supplier of software for my university.  After partially downloading, the installer said there was a verification failure and that "the product you are trying to install is not an Adobe Genuine Software and appears to be counterfeit.
The only issue I can think of is that I downloaded a free trial of Photoshop CS6 that is still on my computer.  I didn't uninstall it before trying to install my purchase because if it didn't work, I didn't want to be left without a program to finish my homework on.  If this is the solution, I can try that, but I would think I would've gotten a different notification if that were the error.
Is there a solution?  Thank you

The Genuine Software Failure error could be due to damaged installation media.  Please try downloading the trial of Creative Suite 6 Design Standard from http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=design_standard.  You can then try the installation again with the freshly downloaded install files.

  • Getting around counterfeit laws to open a $20 bill in Photoshop

I'm trying to create a $20 coupon with using an actual $20 bill as a template, but due to counterfiet laws, Photoshop wont even allow me to open up the picture in the program. Is there anyway around this??

If you follow the link that the program sends you to, the website says:
"Every country has legal restrictions on the reproduction of banknote images. The counterfeiting of currency is a crime, and while restrictions vary from country to country, in some countries, any reproduction of banknote images – even for artistic or advertising uses – is strictly forbidden. Even in countries that allow some limited use of banknote images, there are specific rules and requirements. This website will provide you with information about reproducing banknote images and links to country-specific websites for further guidance.
While the overall economic losses to society from counterfeiting of currency are generally limited, the victims who suffer the most harm are individuals and businesses, because no one reimburses those who accept counterfeit notes. Counterfeit currency can also undermine confidence in the payment system, making the public uncertain about accepting cash for transactions.
The Central Bank Counterfeit Deterrence Group (CBCDG) is responsible for this website. A counterfeit deterrence system (CDS) has been developed by the CBCDG to deter the use of personal computers, digital imaging equipment, and software in the counterfeiting of banknotes. The CDS has been voluntarily adopted by hardware and software manufacturers, and prevents personal computers and digital imaging tools from capturing or reproducing the image of a protected banknote. The technology does not have the capacity to track the use of a personal computer or digital imaging tools."
I cannot give you advice about how to circumvent this, though it seems to me that there is good reason for this feature.

  • Microsoft Office Counterfeit Software

I have question regarding Counterfeit Software.
Is it legal for any seller to sell Microsoft Software Product Keys to a Home User/End User, when those Product Keys are for MSDN?
How is possible to verify those Keys trough Microsoft Activation Center by speaking to a person, that Key is valid, Genuine?
After 5 months Key was blocked by Microsoft.
I have contacted Microsoft and I have submitted Counterfeit Software Report, year 2012, nothing is done about that.
Seller is still running and continues selling Microsoft Software.
This is website that does that.

  • Counterfeit Adobe Photoshop CS6?

Almost at the end of the install process for Photoshop CS6 it says it is a counterfeit file and is corrupt and that I should report piracy. That seems odd because I downloaded it from the Adobe site under "my recent products". Needless to say it stops the installation process.  However, Bridge ended up installed just fine.  What is this?

It is likely that your download did not complete successfully which is why it is being detected as counterfeit.  I would recommend downloading the install files again.  If you utilized the Akamai Download Manager last time then you may want to try the alternate/direct download option.
