Counterintuitive usage of wifi settings on e71

Hi,
I'm having some annoyance using wifi settings and I'd like to make sure it's not me doing something dumb. As far as I can see if you are on an hidden AP it needs to be defined manually in "tools -> settings -> connection -> access points".
Using "always ask" doesn't seem to list the user defined access point. This could also be ok if not that all applications seem to have their own access point setting, meaning that if I'm forced to use "User defined" to use the hidden access point and then I go to a cafe for example I have to change all the apps again to use the public and visible cafe's wifi.
If that's how it really works to me it's rather annoying and it would be much better if simply "always ask" also contained the hidden AP the user defined.

I think that when "always ask" is enabled and when you are trying to connect then you can see all the access points that are currently within the range (inluding the user defined and hidden APs). If you go to area where the hidden AP can't be heard then it's not shown in the list. So you should be able to use "always ask" setting in the scenario you described.

But it still works great, however, it was out of commission for the past 5 months cuz my computer was not working to sync it and it wanted me to "connect to itunes" and i couldnt at the time...(plug it in to sync).... And now my computer and iTunes are working and the itunes software is updated as well. So i have synced my itouch and said itouch is working and restored however it will not allow me to access my wifi settings. The button is unaccessable and unhighlighted as i have stated above already and am in the process of syncing and restoring said itouch again!!! Which should take another full day or two lol lol omg!!!

The time capsule option in the wifi settings is not appearing in my iPhone

I recently setup the time calsule at my office and the wifi connection is ok, and when i tried to setup the time capsule on my iphone and ipad there is no option of time capsule on the wifi settings but the option is shown on the apple website http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/wireless.html. With 7.1 "Share WiFi Settings" no longer works for A3 Pioneer Speaker setup

I am nolonger able to link my Pioneer A3 Speaker with my WiFi network by plugging it into my iPhone or iPad, no message asking "Share the WiFi Settings". I have used various cables, re-booted WiFi and devices etc so conclude either my A3 has suddenly broken, or the 7.1 updates messed things up.

Password input and save WiFi Settings

Hi @all,
I've got 2 Q's:
#1: Is there another way to enter the WiFi password, other than with the remote? My WiFi pwd is 64 characters long including special chars. Hence, entering this pwd with the remote is a bit cumbersome.
#2: how do I save different WiFi settings on AppleTV (second gen)? when I switch known networks, I've to re-enter the pwds. The iPhone or OS X saves those settings - how can I instruct AppleTV to do that?
i tried to configure AppleTV using iTunes or AirPort Utility, but I could not connect to ATV...

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Create MSI to configure the Wifi settings

I have a scenario where multiple users must have their Windows 7 laptop Wifi settings configured as per a specified configuration. We don't have a AD environment, hence the configuration cannot be done through GPOs.
I tried playing around with the "netsh" command and found that the Wifi profile can be exported and imported to the wireless adapters, using the following commands:
Export:
netsh wlan export profile name="CorpSSID" folder=c:\
Import:
wlan add profile filename="c:\wlanconf.xml"
A simple batch file can create this profile on any machine, provided the xml is shared and is located in the right folder. The intension is to make this easier for the end user. So was looking around to see if there are any easy ways to create a .msi that
would contain the xml file, and on clicking it would create the Wifi profile on the system. May be there are other better options, suggestions welcome.

New router - how to change wifi settings for Photosmart B109n

I got a new router. How do I change the wifi settings for my Photosmart B109n? I changed the PC wifi settings (no problem). I connected the PC (Windows 7) to the printer by USB cable. In the HP Solutions Centre, when I click on Settings / Network Settings, it tries to open a browser (IE9) page, with the URL being the IP address (192.168.2.3), but it goes to the "cannot display" page. Do I need the HP software CD? (I think I've lost it.) The manual explains how to set up (using the CD), but I can't find how to change settings for a new router.

You can't. It requires a SIM to activate. There is no way around it. The SIM does not have to be tied to active service, but it must be present and it must be from the correct carrier if the phone is carrier locked.

If none of the tips in that article resolve the problem you have a hardware failure, probably of the radio chip. If you take it to an Apple store they will replace it if in warranty, or for $199 if out of warranty.

Help, please, with wifi settings....!

I am feeling like an idiot and am not having success finding clear, definitive help with wifi settings. I am trying to connect to the internet using my office wireless network via wifi. The office wireless network has pre-defined DNS settings and IP address, also a 10-digit WEP code is required. The network shows up on my wifi network list automatically. When I press the blue arrow to the right, I start getting lost.
IP Address and Subnet mask I understand. But router...? Is that the same as "default gateway"? And what is "Search Domains" and "Client ID"? What are they for? They don't correspond to any settings used when setting up a Windows wireless network. And where do I type in the WEP key?? I am not seeing any place to do that -- unless under "Choose a Network..." I select "Other" >> "Security". But I don't want "Other" -- I want the network that is listed there automatically with a check mark by it!
Can somebody help me here? Please?!

Search domains is a place to force automatic domain names to be checked when typing in just a host name. For example, if you just type in "www", the network will automatically add "foo.com" if it was in the search domain. It's the same as "domain suffix search" in Windows. It's not needed unless required.
Client ID is a way to force a network to recognize the client as a specific computer. It's sort of like a unique identifier, except that it doesn't have to be unique. For example, you can have a wifi ap reject all connections unless they have a client id of "foo". If it's not set up, it's not needed.
As to why you're not getting prompted for your WEP key, I can only surmise that it might not be needed. The iPhone will prompt you for the WEP key when it tries to connect. The fact that you're getting a check mark next to the connection, and not getting prompted leads me to believe that there is no WEP key, or it's not needed in your case. Did you update to 1.1.1? Maybe that broke something.

Z30 Loses Wifi Settings on Restart

A few days ago my Verizon Z30 started losing Wifi settings after a restart. After a restart Wifi is off, and all saved connections are gone. This happens consistently after each restart or power off/power on.

Do a backup, then Reload Software with Link and restore, or you can update the OS to 10.3.1.2582 via an autoloader.

TS1559 wifi settings dimmed- iPhone iOS 7. unable to get on wireless

Wifi settings are dimmed- the wifi button when pressed does not turn to green. I am unable to get on to wireless. My updates are current. I have reset my network settings. Nothing is working. Help!

Once you have reset network settings you can then go to reset all settings to see if this will effect your wifi connection. If this does not connect wifi I would then suggest you unplug your wifi router leave it unplugged for 15-20 minutes and plug it back in. I would need to know if your wifi router is able to connect with other wireless devices?

IOS7 - where is the "Usage" listing in settings on my iPad

In prior versions there was a "Usage" section under Settings-General which showed you how much space each app, music, etc. was taking up. I cannot find the same setting in iOS7? Also, I used to be able to delete albums in Music by just tapping and holding on the Album to delete, no such luck in iOS7. How can we delete music to free up storage space under iOS7 (which I really do not like BTW)?

Usage is till within Settings > General. It's about half way down on my iPad. As for deleting albums I don't see a way to do it other than song by song within the album. Leave feedback with Apple, http://www.apple.com/feedback/.
