Cover Art has disappeared

After updating to 3.1 all of my cover art for both movies and music has disappeared, only the generic icons remain.
The art is still there in iTunes but not on the phone itself.
Any help would be appreciated.

1. First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
2. Reboot your computer and start iTunes. Make sure iTunes is the latest version. Use the Check for Update menu choice. If an update is available download and install it. Then start iTunes and connect your iPad.
Hope this helps.

  • Cover art continually disappears

    I have a 60GB iPod Color-Photo, I've had it for about 18 months.
Recently, about 2 or 3 months ago, I started noticing that my cover art was no longer showing up on my iPod. (It shows fine in iTunes.)
I searched Apple's support site, and went through all of the "five R" steps. After doing so and re-syncing my iPod, all of my cover art re-appeared! But now, just 3 days later, on the same sync/charge since doing the "five R's", my cover art is gone again.
Is there any way I can prevent my cover art from disappearing? I'm not terribly excited about having to go through all of the "five Rs" every time I sync my iPod. I'm also at a point where I'm considering upgrading to a 5G Video iPod, but this cover art issue is making me hesitate.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Same Trouble here!
    Anyone?

  • Cover art keeps disappearing when I sync.

Every time I sync my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer about half of my cover art for my music albums disappears.  The only way I have found that I can fix this is by deleting my entire music library and then syncing all over again which takes hours.  It's very annoying.  I've read many other posts on numerous discussion boards where people describe the same issue, but I haven't yet read about a solution.  I find it hard to believe that Apple can't figure this out.

Try to delete all calendars on your Mac. After that set up one event in iCal. Go to iTunes and sync, iTunes should merge both calendars. But backup iCal on your Mac before you start, just in case...

  • Cover Flow has disappeared!

    hi everyone.
    ok,
So i couldn't run Sharepod with my ipod, so i deleted the 'ArtworkDB' file from my ipod directory (big mistake not backing that file up like usually would)
NOW ALL THE ARTWORK ON MY IPOD HAS VANISHED!
    over 400 hundred albums GONE!!!!!!!!!!
the only raye of hope i have left is that, the artwork is still displayed on itunes. every album cover is STILL there, intact and being desplayed beautifully!
now.PLEASE tell me that there is a way i can somehow....RE-CREATE the ArtworkDB file from itunes? pleeeeeeeeeaaaaasssse
i couldn't possibley do it manually...it would take forever...and the prospect of it is just...soul-destroyingly painful.
    so please...anyone...
    thanks for reading this

  • When I download a movie from iTunes the cover art disappears. I try get info and add the art, it doesn't show up. So it's just gray. It opens and plays fine. Apple can't figure it out. It's an nas drive. When I use a firewire drive I get the art

When I download movies from iTunes to my NAS drive, I don't get the cover art. It shows up while its downloading, but when it's finish it disappears. If it has an iTunes extra the cover art is there. I tried get info and add the cover art, it never shows. Regardless of how I add it. Funny thing is, if I download the same movie to my external firewire drive, no problem its there. I've called Apple with no success. I've even tried copying the movie with the art from the firewire drive to replace the file on then NAS drive I still loose the movie cover art. I also tried several times to re download it, no luck. Any ideas? I'm out of ideas.

Do you have any videos/movies in the video app?
In iTunes if you right click on the video and select Get Info and go to the Option tap what Media Type is shown?

  • Where has my cover art gone?

    hi
I have spent an age updating my i tunes collection. by that i mean, renaming tracks that had "unknown album" for them, renaming tracks, and making sure that all my Tracks had the corect cover art loaded for it. it took a long time, but it looks good. Im using i tunes 8.0.0.35.
so i sync up my ipod touch, but i have noticed that there are at least 40 tracks on the ipod now with out the cover art. even though the cover art is included on my itunes collection.
    What gives?
    Thanks

When I go to "get info" on any of my itunes tracks the album artwork has disappeared, leaving only a blank space.
If the cover image still appears during playback, then it stands to reason that it is not missing. How are you looking at your artwork in the information window?
In the information window for a single track, the cover image is shown in the Summary and Artwork tabs, but you add or remove images in the latter. In the Multiple Item Information window the Artwork tag appears in the Info tab and it is presented as empty even thought the individual tracks do have an album cover image embedded. iTunes has operated in this fashion for some time now.

  • Most cover art disappeared after syncing

I just put a few more CDs onto my iTunes, and after I synced my iPod, all the cover art except for the few CDs I just added disappeared from the iPod. It's all still in my iTunes though. All pictures for video are gone too, but my photos still work fine. (The iPod is a Classic 160 GB)
    Thoughts? Ideas?

I was having a similar problem. For me it happens only with ripped tracks not available through iTunes. My solution was to uncheck “Automatically download missing album artwork” on the General Tab under Preferences.
Once I unchecked it, the disappearing covers stopped happening. Although it was an intermittent problem, it's now been 5 months since I changed it and I haven't lost any artwork.
This solution also has one obvious drawback. While iTunes purchased music is still downloaded with cover art, once you uncheck the "automatically download missing album artwork" box, music you rip and then import into iTunes won't have cover art. My take is I'd rather add cover art once when I import a song, then constantly have to re add random batches of artwork.
All I can figure is that when you have "get artwork" checked, iTunes goes through your library and replaces all artwork added by hand because it doesn't recognize either the file type or naming convention. For the most part we don't notice it, but when it hits a song it doesn't own the rights too, blam, gonzo.
Further proof that iTunes doesn't recognize or like the hand added cover art is that I had a song that iTunes automatically downloaded the wrong cover art for (van halen 1 instead of 2). I fixed it with the right cover from Amazon but I noticed it changed back to the wrong cover about a week later.
I have a couple of blog entries about this problem that go into further detail, check them out here:

  • My podcast cover art image has been replaced by the Wordpress bluberry thumbnail in iTunes? Can anyone please help tell me what to do? I made a cover art to the right spec and added it to my podcast episodes in my iTunes library

The cover art does not show on My iTunes library even when I'm playing it. The cover art does not show in Word press either when you open it on a laptop. But I think I used a feed burner for the podcast and that's why the word press done now has come up. My question is that iTunes have Successfully I did my podcast however my son now is not my heart and I need to change that. Can anybody here please help me? I think it has something to do with the feed burner or potentially the way I have uploaded. I uploaded the podcast directly into WordPress I did not use any other hosting sites like libsyn.

I don't quite understand why you have asked me about why I'm keeping my URL secret?
It's only that I'm not clear why you are reluctant to post it. If you have a podcast in the iTunes Store then it's there for the world to see - they might search on its subject or title, for example, even if they don't actually know about it from you. If you look at other posts in this forum you will see that usually people post their URLs and then I can examine the feed and hopefully find out from that what the problem is. Without this information no-one can give you anything more than wild guesses.
If you are still reluctant to post the details and want to have a bash at diagnosing the problem yourself you may find my web pages helpful:

  • Cover art disappears

    Hello,
When I turn my iphone on the side to scroll through my tunes one of my album covers disappears.  The cover art is there and when I am playing the song the art is good to go.  I have tried many different things, but I cannot figure this one out.  Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello
I am having issues with my cover art disappearing after Sync.. any ideas?

In iTunes, select all the songs on the album then right click and select *Remove album artwork* .

  • Some cover art disappearing between installations

I wonder why, when I install a new Itunes and add all the music I had in an previous installation, some of the cover art shows directly in the new installation and some have been lost and has to be added once again. How can I make all the cover art to "stick" within the music files even if I uninstall Itunes?

SORRY ALL...  After searching, I couldn't find anything, and once I submitted this, up comes suggested previous discussions where it's clear iTunes Match is likely regressing my artwork.  I'll proceed with deleting it all first, making sure it gets out of the cloud, then adding it back as if it were new.  (Wow, Apple, what a waste of time!)

  • What has recently been accepted for cover art

I designed my cover right in ibooks author. It is not a complicated cover. My art is my photoraphy so the cover is a photo with simple text. It didn't require making it in software like Pixilmator that I have. I saw a video tutorial where the author takes a screenshot of the cover in ibooks author and uploads that image (changed into jpg) where it asks for cover art in itunes producer. He says that his book was approved. Has anybody done that process recently and been successful on the review by apple? Or did it wind up being neccessary to use other software to make the second exact cover?

If you use iBA's menu 'File/Publish...', that process should call iTP and insert cover art for you.
What tool(s) you create one on your own with, should you choose to do so, is up to you.
From the 5.22 email on cover art:
Cover images should now be ...in the RGB color space, and delivered as JPEG files.

  • My podcast has been approved, how do change my cover art and add an author?

My podcast has been approved, how do change my cover art and add an author?  I would appreciate any help
    Thanks

In whatever method you are using to create your podcast there should be a place where you originally placed the image or its URL, and you can just replace this with a new one (which needs to have a different filename from the original). Similarly there should be a place to enter your name so that it goes in the 'itunes:author' tag.

  • I received notice about a new cover art requirement (1400x1400 pixels) but can't find a way to change my existing art. My podcast has been updating flawlessly for several years, so I'd hate to have to remove the feed and start over.

Please note - this was not a personalized email - Apple is sending this out to ALL podcasts that are listed on iTunes.
If you are hosting with Libsyn or most any other "Podcast" host you should be ok.

If you are on a self hosted site or worse yet using some file storage service like Dropbox - then you are going to have issues.
Again - this leter from Apple does not mean anything is wrong wth your show specifically - it is a generic letter going out to all podcasters.

  • I updated to 1.0.2 and all my album cover art disappeared

i've tried several times now to reset it by telling it not to show cover art, syncing, then telling it to show it and syncing again. however, unlike in the past (with 1.0.1) it hasn't worked. I'd reset the whole thing, but it took me about a week to get my 90gb collection into my ipod with my beat up old laptop, and I can't be sure it'll make it through that again.

It is not supposed to swtich off when you close the cover. It is supposed to go to sleep. Check Settings>General>Lock/Unlock>On. If the iPad is already set up that way, try resetting the device and see if that fixes it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
You can also try resetting all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
