Cover Flow displays multiple copies of certain albums

I've tried everything to get it to stop doing this. All the tags are exactly the same, and it displays as one album in grid view, but in cover flow, all the songs are separated. Any ideas?

So in your case, highlight all the tracks, right-click > Get Info > Options tab
Check off "part of a compilation" and save the changes. Then go back and uncheck compilations and save it again. Sometimes that comp thing fixes it for me.

Cover Flow Display Problem

Has anyone experienced the situation where in cover flow display the album cover will appear when not the primary display (it's one to the left or right and appears 'sideways') but when you place it in the primary display position (the one you're focused on) that area is just black? This is only happening on a few albums but not others. If anyone has a solution to this I'd really appreciate it. I'm very computer savvy, and have tried everything I can think of but can't fix it.

After hours of frustrating experimentation, my partner appears to have found a workaround for this problem. If you have cover art not showing up at all, or showing up in the Cover Flow, but not when you turn your iPod Touch back vertically, this is what to do. If you view the info on a single file in iTunes, you'll notice the cover art sits in the middle of the screen in the Artwork view. What you need to do is create a blank 200x200 72 resolution image file (I don't think these paramaters must be exactly as noted, you just need a square, blank image file). Then add this blank image as a second image to the album that won't display its cover art. Afterward you should have the original artwork on the left half of the display and the blank part on the right. It won't work to just use the slider to get the original file to the left by sliding the slider one place to the left, because once you exit it just puts the picture back in the middle again. You have to add a blank image file. (In fact, the second image file doesn't even have to be blank, if you just want to use another album image file you have.) Once you have the artwork you want displayed fixed to the left half, everything works fine.

After downloading music and dragging into iTunes I end up with multiple copies of the album on my hard drive. I do have the "copy files into iTunes library" checked. When I try to erase one of the copies I end up with red ! in iTunes library.

When I try to delete one of the copies of the album and go back to itunes and try playing a song, I get a red exclamtion point next to the song with an error message saying itunes cannot locate file. My questions are, Does Itunes literally make a copy of the song? If so , How do you know which file to delete?

Sony's own entertainment software on the Vaio plays merry **** with iTunes, worse there's no telling when it will kick in.
First head over to the Sony Vaio site and get the update for the software, that will stop it from messing with the iTunes database/library files when you connect your iPod.

Hi, How can I use the cover flow display in my application? Which class should I extend from for that?

There is no public class/api for Coverflow so you need to write your own.

'Cover flow 'display splits albums

When I view my albums in 'grid' format all are shown individually & correctly, but when I switch to 'cover flow' the albums split showing many covers of the same album each carrying a track from that album.
Is this a 'bug' or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks cynic and DucMike, but that wouldn't explain why the display in 'cover flow & 'grid' are different in terms of slitting albums.
BUT!! Cynic, I think you may have hit on something here and a confession I have to make.
I tag all my albums as follows:- The artist in 'Album' tag and the name of the track or album in the tag 'Album artist'!
Why? Because this way I get the name of the artist displayed above the track/ album which is the way I want to view them. It wuld seem though that produces the splitting effect I refer to.
For example The Beatles Abbey Road. In grid format, one album cover displayed. In cover flow, about a dozen covers scattered around.
I will try to re-tag this album and see if this changes the display in cover flow. Suspect it may do!

Cover flow displays the same two pieces of artwork for all videos.

I've been adding a collection of tv series I have on DVD to iTunes 9.1.1, it all worked fine initially, I opened each video up of a series of tv programs and used the "Set Poster Frame" option to capture a frame of the program to use as the artwork for that program.
I normally have the programs sorted by what tv program they belong to, so Cover flow only displays the first episode of a series' artwork. I'm not sure why though but something I did yesterday appears to have caused cover flow to blow a fuse.
If I chose to sort by name before, cover flow would display all the artwork for each episode, and it showed all the different artworks correctly. Now though after some fiddling I did which I cannot seem to recount my steps back to, it only displays the same two pieces of artwork from two particular episodes for all the videos when it is sorted via name:

I've tried removing all the artwork, but there doesn't seem to be an option to delete the poster frame and the poster frame artwork doesn't show up under the artwork tab for the individual videos so I can't delete anything from there. If I select all the videos and then right click and get info, then select the artwork check box and click OK it seemingly deletes all the artwork... Then replaces it again with the exact same artwork!
Although cover flow shows each video has having the same artwork if I Get Info each video it clearly shows it having the correct artwork so why cover flow is messing around like this I don't know.
I've tried deleting the album artwork cache in the itunes folder, didn't work. I even tried deleting my entire itunes folder which I have separate from my library and the hidden prefs file in my actual library, but that didn't work either.
Interestingly enough, if I re-add all the videos they automatically get listed as films and go under the film tab. When looking at them under their cover flow correctly shows every episode with the right artwork:

As soon as I change the Get Info options tab from Film to TV program either for one video or all of them, then cover flow screws up again.
Any idea how to fix this annoyance?

The weird thing is, it worked before. I encoded all the videos previously and had them all listed and didn't encounter this problem, but I noticed I'd forgotten to decomb/detelecine the videos so I deleted everything and re-encoded it all. AFter filling the tags out and setting poster frames again I was thinking of making life easier by just pasting the same artwork for every episode, so I did, but didn't like the results so I deleted it again (I selected every video, used Get Info and pasted the artwork that way).
I think it was after this that the problem started to occur. In any case I've been through every episode and made sure the name, series, episode and episode id fields are all filled in with incremental values and they are. I even made sure the Sort Name field was filled in on every video. But this didn't work either.
So, thinking another restart was needed I deleted every video again. Re-encoded them all, again. Set the tags for every video and poster frame again. Finished it all off nicely, checked cover flow and was highly annoyed to find it was STILL showing the same two pieces of art work for every video as shown in that image I posted.
Ultimately, I wouldn't care so much that cover flow is screwing up like this as I always intended to sort by program anyway so it would only ever display one piece of artwork for an entire series of videos, however where-as when it was working it picked the artwork for the first episode of a series to display, its instead picking one of the latter episodes. I can't seem to find any way of choosing what artwork I want displayed.

Problem with Cover-Flow display

Hello!
Whenever I play compilations Cover-Flow doesn´t display "Interpret" in the third column but "Album-Interpret" (screenshot 1). However, I set the "Album-Interpret" Tag to the whole compilation´s tite so that Itunes displays all tracks in one Block (screenshot 2).
The Problem is that now the artist´s name is not displayed i this view.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this?

jus move the common to the song name it shud work jus fine

Problem using iTune Cover Flow display

Previously iTunes "Cover Flow" allowed me to view album convers.
Now it displays: "iTunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer".
I am able to see album covers in "Album List" and "Grid" displays.

Cover Flow displays generic icon only for small JPEG files

I recently used the excellent CocoThumbX to strip off all the Adobe preview icons from my Photoshop-created images (a mixture of JPEG, TIFF, and PSD files). That neatly solved the low-res "fuzzy" Cover Flow thumbnail problem lots of users have complained about.
However, now I have a problem that I haven't seen addressed elsewhere. Lots of my JPEG files still appear as generic JPEG icons in Cover Flow. They are all Adobe Photoshop JPEG files, and they are all no larger than 150KB in size. There's nothing wrong with the files as Quick Look displays them without a hitch, and I can open them in Photoshop no problem.
Any idea how to get Cover Flow to render their thumbnails properly?
Resaving them from Photoshop fixes the problem, but I have thousands of such images and don't want to resave all of them even with a batch action if there's some other simple way of fixing this.

I have the same problem except with ALL jpegs, not just small ones. Other file types (pdfs, eg) preview just fine in cover flow, and I am able to open all the jpgs by themselves in any program, they just don't render in cover flow.
I think this happened in conjunction with the upgrade to 10.5.1.
Any help would be most appreciated!

Cover Flow display issue

Can anyone explain the distortion I'm seeing in the album images in Cover Flow? I don't have very up-to-date video card, but it doesn't /look/ that complicate to render.

Cover Flow - Display adapter drivers

Hi there, I know a lot of people have posted about this problem but I am wondering if anyone can help me out.
I am unable to use cover flow on my pc. I have made sure I have the latest itunes and quicktime. As far as drivers go this is my sticking point. I don't know if there are newer drivers for the display adapters. I have been to the manufacturers website (S3 Graphics) but it seems that it has been discontinued with no further support (I am not sure I am looking up the right drivers anyhow). The display adapter I have is S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR. The driver date is from 2003 (version 6.0.0.0).
Can any techie person help me out here. I would love to get cover flow working on this pc.

As there is no reply to your message i guess It aint fixed yet.
I've done updating graphics driver, directx, although havent tried updating quicktime cause it came with the itunes install.
What mode ius your graphics card displaying.
Right click in free sapce on desktop click properties then click the settings tab.
Mine is set at High 26.
The graphics card sown menu has options for high medium and "TRUE"

Characters Panel displays multiple copies of font styles, PS CS6

I saw this mentioned in the beta forums but I wasn't having any trouble with the fonts or Characters Panel at that time. Now I see numerous redundant copies of every font family style listed when I select a font family STYLE of any typeface, such as Helvetica or Arial, for example.
Throughout the day the list increases copies of each style exponentially by the hour. At the end of the day I am scrolling through 98 copies of Helvetica Bold to get to the next style, like Black. There should only be one Helv. Bold, one Black, one Condensed, and so on.
My fonts are cleaned and organized frequently with any corrupted fonts being removed immediately. I use FontExplorer X, Font Doctor and other type apps to manage fonts because FontBook is still retarded.
Anyone have any solutions or suggestions?

I was still writing up a couple serious bugs I had found when the forum was shut down and I never even had a chance to post them. In fact, one other bug I had posted was in the middle of a discussion and we were still doing some troubleshooting when I was locked out of the forum. That one was fixed though.
One of those unresolved bugs I was in the process of posting was an issue with erratic cursor tracking on machines like mine running multiple monitors. I can't put my Layers panel in any display other than my startup display or it causes severe cursor tracking problems, making work nearly impossible.
I decided to contact Adobe Support via chat yesterday and after explaining the issue in detail to the tech, I was told to work in a single monitor when using Photoshop. WTF? I couldn't believe what I was reading! They are suggesting that I abandon the way I've been working for a decade and also thousands of dollars worth of displays and graphics cards because their unstable, unfinished product was released prematurely.
I've been a rabid pusher of all things Adobe since the early 90's when these apps were still a new thing, but this is the first time I've felt like they are dropping the ball and completely ignoring users like us who purchase every Suite the moment they are available.
I am disappointed.

I have just cleaned up my music folder, and loaded it into the Latest Itunes software on my PC. I then synced it with my Ipod. I found that Itunes again had duplicated, and sometimes made multiple copies of music albums in both Itunes and on my Ipod.

I have uploaded all my music from my PC into Itunes, and the connected my Ipod Classic to the PC and synced them. I found that it has duplicated various songs and Albums for some reason. Some albums have been duplicated 10 to 15 times, some songs just doubled, in some Albums some songs have been doubled, tripled etc. This has been going on for years now. I also found that music i copied from my CD's and uploaded into Itunes has disappeared. I am so lost and do not understand why this is happening.

Multiple Albums in Cover Flow View

I am running iTunes 7.3.2, and I am experiencing a strange "problem" with Cover Flow View.
A number of albums that I have downloaded from the iTunes store show up with 2 albums in Cover Flow View. In fact, it always appears to be 1 Album Cover for Track 1 of the Album and a 2nd Album Cover for the remaining tracks.
They are not compilations, and I have checked that the Album, Artist and Album Artist are all the same. In addition, it is only happening with 1 artist: Ali Farka Touré. All three albums: Niafunké, The Source and Talking Timbuktu do the exact same thing. This is true no matter what sorting I use, or even if I use search to limit the list to 1 album.

I have lots of accented letters in my library, and haven't seen this splitting behavior; I think the problem stems from different parts of iTunes having different rules for calling two fields identical.

Cover flow with compilation albums

Hi,
I have three compilation albums on my Ipod 4g that currently mess up the whole cover flow, each artist gets its own album art so I have like 20 albums with one song in it. I looked for a solution but found the same problem posted in 2007 already. Did Apple fix this in Itunes 8 or what can I do to get a nice compilation album. I already tried settings the artist name to Various (worked in Itunes, but not on my Ipod), I tried the sorting things but neither of those worked. Any known solutions so I'm able to use cover flow again?

Did not work for me, I can select this option if I right click a song, but as soon as I select multiple files the option of "part of compilation" is gone? I don't think I'm supposed to select this option for every song, one at a time? Also, should I do this when the songs are already on my Ipod or when they are still on the computer? Thanks for your help!
