And not just one song.
You need to either select all songs or the album, depending on the view used.
Then, paste it into the proper field.

  • Cover Flow: Certain Photos Are Very Blocky?

I have just been looking at a folder of TIFF photos (approx. 2200x3200ppi) using the Cover Flow display method.
The folder window has been expanded to fill most of my iMac's 24" monitor.
As I flick the photos across, the landscape shaped ones are crystal clear but the portrait ones (mainly) are impossibly blocky and mosaic looking.
I then tried with the same photos which had been converted to JPEGs and all of these were blocky.
Is there something I am doing wrong or is it that I am demanding too much processing power from my computer?

Doesn't seem to be. I just selected 2 pngs and a psd file (all in the same folder) that had custom icons, brought up the Inspector (Command-Option-i), selected the wee little icon at the top of the of the window (a dang near invisible blue halo surrounded it) and hit delete. All three files immediately lost their custom icons and went to showing generic icons in List view.

  • Cover Flow in Finder (Not Showing Photo)

    Hello,
In my Finder window, it is no longer showing the actual photo in the "cover flow". I can still press spacebar and it will preview the photo for me, however, when I'm using cover flow to browse through photos, documents, pdf's, it no longer shows the actual image...it just shows a picture of a "creased page".
    How do I fix this?

    HI,
    Locate this file.
    com.apple.finder.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.

  • Photos distorted when opened in preview, yet ok in cover flow

    Hi
I previously posted this question which got moved to the iPhoto section, but its NOT an iPhoto issue: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2619921&tstart=0
Having purchased a new camera (Sony DSC2000) the first time I used it the photos were fine...now ever since they appear intermittently distorted, or missing altogether. I tried creating a basic new user account as a test with the same results. Help!!

    Hi
Thanks for the tip. Yes the problems happen regardless of the location or user account. As an example when opening the jpegs in Preview the log shows the following messages repeatedly:
    Macintosh.local Finder[115] <Error>: CGImageCreate: invalid image size: 0 x 0.
    10/12/2010 18:59:10 [0x0-0xb00b].com.apple.finder[115] Fri Dec 10 18:59:10 Macintosh.local Finder[115] <Error>: CGImageCreate: invalid image size: 0 x 0.
    10/12/2010 18:59:21 [0x0-0xb00b].com.apple.finder[115] Fri Dec 10 18:59:21 Macintosh.local Finder[115] <Error>: Corrupt JPEG data: bad Huffman code.
And when viewing the distorted jpegs in cover flow in Finder:
Macintosh.local quicklookd[727] <Error>: Corrupt JPEG data: premature end of data segment
    10/12/2010 19:25:22 com.apple.quicklook[727]
    10/12/2010 19:25:24 com.apple.quicklook[727] Fri Dec 10 19:25:24 Macintosh.local quicklookd[727] <Error>: Bogus marker length
Any ideas gratefully received. Short of anything else I reckon I will try an erase and fresh install of Mac OS X 10.5 and see if that sorts things.

  • Edited photos pixelated in cover flow preview...

I recently bought a Nikon D90. The images are pristine, but I like to correct the color of every picture I shoot using Photoshop CS4 and then import the corrected image into Aperture.
My problem is that when I correct the color using AutoLevels in Photoshop, and then view the image in cover flow, the preview is smaller and very pixelated. I'm able to open the photo in Preview, but the cover flow preview's quality is horrible. This was never a problem with image files from any of my previous cameras.
I've tried to see the differences between the specs on the two files, but can't see any. I'd like to understand why this is before I start making changes to all of the files I shoot with the new camera. My hope is that I won't create a bigger problem once the files are in Aperture.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm sure my workflow is far from professional. Aperture certainly does non-destructive editing, but I'm using it for cataloging more than editing. I've been using Photoshop longer and trust my skills with it more. However, using an external editor with Aperture results in the application creating a huge secondary edit file (I think it's a PNG file, but don't quote me). Rather than create that large unnecessary file, I'd prefer to import a file that I've already correct once. If I want to work with the image later, I export a new image from Aperture and work from there.
I'm shooting in JPEG (again, I'm far from professional). I don't know that I'm doing the right thing here, but I don't want my lack of knowledge to compound my problem by importing an image file I've messed up somehow.

  • Cover flow lion finder window

Horrible horrible horrible feature of Lion:
iPhoto is occupied iwth a large upload of images to flickr.
I want to review some more of the images I shot today in thumbnail to
open and start working on them in photoshop without waiting for iPhoto
to finish (this is reason #6099 why I do not let iPhoto control the
location of my photos on the drive, so I can access them without
    opening their specific iPhoto library).
I open the enclosing folder for the images, click to view by icon,
enlarge the icons, then click to sort the photos by date, and....COVER
FLOW!  they've Cover-Flow-ized the icon view when you do any kind of
    sort except by name.
I cannot say how much I hate cover flow--nausea-inducing for the
motion sickness prone, nasty vile scheme in general--and now, it's
dropped the images I can see in one glance at the screen in this icon
by date view of the finder window to ONE, and I can't turn it off.  I
do NOT have coverflow checked in view options.
Is there any way to kill coverflow completely in every place they've
    put it?
(Feedback already sent to apple, BTW, if you have this problem too, and there's no solution offered by one of the bright folks on this board, please send them some at apple.com/feedback--the place to put feedback for programs like finder that don't have a 'send feedback' menu item))

Support call gave the solution:  instead of 'Arrange by', use the 'clean up by' command under the view menu in Finder.  This does what arrange by used to, and while the menu options are more limited than 'arrange by', it doesn't default to the cover-flow behavior that is so irritating.
If you hate cover flow like I do, please send them feedback.  If enough of us complain about it, maybe they'll stop putting it all over the place.

  • Cover flow not working properly.

When I delete photos from cover flow the file name goes from the list but the photo stays. For example if I now select photo number 20 I am actually viewing photo number 19 and all the following photos are numbered wrongly. The only way to rectify it is to reboot.

I have just found out that I don't have to shut down the computer to rectify this I only need to close finder.

  • Cover Flow won't show JPG preview, only generic JPG icon

    Hello,
For some reasons, I don't see JPGs in Cover Flow mode. I can see them in Quick Finder no problem.
I tried the following and toggle the on/off the feature without success: Go to Finder, open a window, and click View>Show View Options. From there, CHECK "Show Item Preview," then click "Use as Defaults."
I exported photos from iPhoto into my desktop but I get the same result. Only generic jpg icon.
BTW, PDFs are fine, excel, word are all fine....
    Any idea?

    A reboot solved the problem.
I guess this is the workaround for now...

  • Cover flow dimensions

    Hi,
I'm using the "Cover Flow" view in finder and it has an option to turn on the "Dimensions" colum. Which is really handy for my work because it instantly shows the dimensions of all the image files in the window. However, I can only turn this on, in the sub folders of my "Pictures" folders. Does anybody know a hack or an option panel where I can use this for all my other documents besides my photos?
    Thanks in advance.

These settings are only avaialble if the contents of the current folder contain them in their metadata. For example, drag a few pictures containing "Dimension" information to a folder that does not have these options, and you will see the folder will now have these options. There is no hack to enable this feature. Ultimately it is always enabled but just limited on a per-folder basis by its applicability and relevance to the folder's contents.

  • Cover Flow won't display JPEGs

Am new mac user - running Leopard and have Adobe CS3 on the machine. Primary reason for moving to mac was to get improved control over my photos and videos. After loading about 10K photos onto the machine (am managing with Adobe Bridge, not iPhoto), I realized that Cover Flow in Finder will not display the JPEG files. It simply puts up an icon with a JPEG label on it. Have looked online for a solution but no clear guidance - does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.

PS--too late to edit, but one thing to try, to make sure Coverflow isn't having some sort of major problem, is go to to a web site that has jpegs. Make yourself a folder on the Desktop, call it WebJPEGs, then click on a jpeg in the browser window, continue to hold the mouse button down, pause for just a second, and then, still holding the mouse button down, drag the jpeg out of the browser window and drop it (release the mouse button) when you are over the folder you created. Add several jpegs to the folder this way, then open the folder and put it in Coverflow. Does Coverflow draw the custom icons?
Just in case you can't think of a web site you know has jpegs, you can use this page:
    http://www.pinkmutant.com/smug/tutorials/compositing.html
All the pix are in jpeg format, and were created in Photoshop Elements on the Mac.

  • Cover Flow doesn't alway work in finder windows...

    Hi,
I have several folders full of photos, most of them are .jpegs. When I open a folder in a finder window I have my standard views displayed at the top:(Icons/List / In columns / Cover Flow). When I click the cover flow button sometimes it will show my photos properly and other times it just shows a blank sheet with .jpeg written on it.
Any ideas why sometimes it work correctly and other times it doesn't??
    Thanks,
    Gary

I've noticed this occasionally myself, and discovered that there are actually two different problems. One, which is fixable, is that occasionally I run into folders where I get generic jpeg icons in all views, and recently figured out there is something peculiar about those files. In this case all views, all the time, fail to show a thumbnail. The fix is to select all the errant files, and only the errant files, in the folder, bring up the inspector (Command-Option-i), select the wee little multiple files icon at the top, and press Delete. Presto changeo the Finder will now draw the thumbs in Icon and Coverflow views.
The second problem is more perplexing: it seems as if Finder has simply gotten tired of drawing icons. When this happens I've always simply relaunched Finder by holding the Option key, click and hold on the Finder icon in the Dock, and then select Relaunch from the fly-out window. All windows close, the Desktop "blinks" and when you renavigate to the folder Finder draws the icons. Reminds me of an old-time radio with a loose connection that can be brought back to functionality by a quick sharp blow to the chassis...

  • Cover Flow, Quick Look and Finder icons ignore ICC color profiles

... and that really bothers me!
As a photographer, I tend to save photos with different color profiles embedded in them. Sometimes it's Adobe RGB, sometimes sRGB, sometimes Generic RGB (don't ask).
Aside from the apps that HAVE TO regard color profiles (Aperture, Photoshop etc), I was under the impression that color consistency is important throughout OS X. I am satisfied that Safari and Preview fully support color profiles, and that is why I am appalled that Cover Flow and Quick Look (my favorite feature in Leopard) do not! How do I know? It's in the plain eye sight.
    Apple... FIX THIS, PLEASE!
Message was edited by: Daniel Kasaj - reason: I forgot to say "please"!

If it's an issue that you feel needs their attention, I'd submit feedback to Apple directly, as they have no employees dedicated to reading these forums. Go to http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html/ to send your request.

  • Finder Cover Flow is broken and doesn't show the correct file I click on

When I go into my Downloads and press the spacebar to preview a photo, it will preview the photo before it for some weird reason.
    Example:
I highlight and press space for "Photo 2", but instead it will show "Photo 1" in the Cover Flow and will Preview that instead.

Totally broken for me too. This is a giant, gaping hole in the OS LOL. I fire up a Finder window w/ cover flow view, erase a file, and now the highlighted image in the list below is off by one file and it doesn't remove the preview of the just-deleted file in the Cover Flow pane. Sad. This is just an embarrassing bug Big A. How do you not fix this before going public with a major point release? Not to mention the scrolling issue.

  • Finder Cover Flow image preview size is small, cannot be adjusted and showing empty blank previews in Mavericks

When using Cover Flow the image preview in the main window (not the thumbnail list at the bottom) images appear but only use about 1/2 of the window space available.  It is also showing black/blank preview images as I scroll through the files even though they are cached.
I enlarge the Finder to fill my 27 inch display, slide the size adjustment handle (three lines under the file name preview) all the way down as far as I can.  The preview only enlarges to a certain point leaving the upper half of the window unused.  I wish to enlarge the cover flow preview images to use this window space even if it affects the overlapping or number of cover flow images avaialble in the window.    I am assuming this is becasue of the nature of cover flow showing the two previous and two following images to the left and right of the previewed image.  As I scroll left and right occsionally one of the upcoming images will appear as and empty preview as well.  It's all goofed up.
    Hoping for any suggestions.
I have seen articles about using terminal to adjust "flow height" but never anything substainial that seemend like an informed solution.

I also would like to know if there is an answer to this.  My landscape photos always display with a third of the cover flow window as blank empty space (matching your screenshot).  This seems like such a waste.  Is there any way to change the "padding" between the top of the finder bar and the cover flow preview?
