Cover Flow Options?

Is there a way to change the way your Movies are displayed on screen... like in iTunes? I don't necessarily like the list view with cover art to the left... i'd like to have a cover flow view of the just the movie artwork.

Personally I find cover flow too tedious for anything but tiny libraries.
I wouldn't want it on AppleTV myself in most cases, but would welcome it as an option for those that do.

Cover flow option not working on my computer.

i downloaded & installed the new itunes 7.1 but it's telling me that it can not use the cover flow option with my computer. i click that option and instead of the album artwork i get "itunes is unable to browse album covers on this computer." is there anyway to make it so that it will work? i have windows xp.

Are the Finder Cover Flow options as limited as I think?

Hello there,
Been a happy user of macs for about eight years now and do a lot of work in graphic design. As a result navigating folders and previewing content is very important to me and the ease of my work flow. I have to say however that while Finder provides a somewhat decent solution in 'Coverflow' I believe that it's far too limited in scope.
My main irk (if you will) is that while using cover flow the browsing option seems limited to the 'list' browsing method which, personally, I can't stand. I find it odd that there is no option to use Cover Flow with the column browser. Is this 100% the case? Or is there something I'm missing, maybe even a work around that allows me to do so (and no, not quicklook).
Honestly it doesn't strike me as something difficult to implement because both coverflow and columns already exist.
I'm sure that if such a feature existed I'd use and appreciate Cover Flow far more. Anybody else share this feeling?
Anyway back to the drawing tablet.

Yes. The icon to switch between cover flow view and multicolumn view doesn't offer both. Whether or not it is a reason why, but you get a preview of the contents of the files when you select them in the column to their right in column view. List view doesn't offer you a preview except in coverflow. So coverflow is a way of giving List view a preview without destroying the integrity of the list.

Can't see Artwork when in 'cover flow'

I can see my ablum artwork when playing songs in the 'Now playing' box. However I can no longer view artwork under 'cover flow' option. Instead I just get a black background and in white lettering I get this..
"iTunes is unable to browse Album Covers".
I have uninstalled & re-installed the latest itunes for windows on apple website but makes no difference. The pics show up in 'Album grid' but I don't like this view. Can anyone help?

Thanks to a post 'Dave Sawyer' left on a different topic I have now managed to solve this. under dxdiag 'Directdraw Acclerator' was disabled. I enabled it and all back to normal

Finder/Cover Flow is out of sync by one file?

Hi all, I've had this problem for a while and it's really frustrating.In Finder using the 'Cover Flow' option, my files are out of sync by one file. By 'out of sync', I mean the the bottom half of the screen is showing one file but the top half of the screen is 'previewing' the wrong file by one. It's only off by one file, but this is really annoying.
When I use the view options 'Icons', 'list' or 'columns' I don't have this problem.What can I do?

com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and com.apple.finder.plist
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.

You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

No icon for Cover Flow in Finder

I have recently upgraded my ibook G4 to Leopard. The cover flow option with quick look in the finder is wonderful. Unfortunately, I seem to be missing the little eyeball icon in the Finder window toolbar. I can access Quick Look by hitting the space bar, but I'm wondering why the icon is missing? Did I get a defective version of Leopard?!?!?

1) That's the quicklook tool, not cover flow. Cover flow is a black rectangle with two parallel lines along each side.
2) Finder->View->Customize toolbar->drag the quicklook icon to the toolbar.

Cover Flow on Windows XP not working, any suggestions?

I recently had a problem with my HP computer (certainly not the first) and had to recover it using recovery disks. Of course I lost everything and when I reinstalled iTunes, the cover flow option wasn't available. I have tried looking everywhere and performing the nesscessary steps to get it to work. It did work before my computer had to be restored. I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded the latest updates. I checked the bit-rate, I guess you could call it and is at 32-bit. I turned up the hardware acceleration to full (it was already up there) and I downloaded a version of DirectX and it still does not work. If someone could help me out it would be much appreciated. I am technology-challenged.

Try checking your ipod settings, i had an itunes one change on its own once. Go to settings, then general, then rotate. If it says "off", then just hit the center button. If it says "cover flow", then see if it's the orientation sensor by going to the "maze" game if you have it to test it. The circle thing on the menu will probably glitch up/not move if it's the orientation sensor. If it responds normally (rolls/slides in the direction you tip the ipod), then i'm not sure. Try calling their customer service line at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273) if that happens. Also, if you are walking w/ it with the hold switch off, then it may me that your walking is shaking it enough to shuffle it. That's my theory, anyway.
BTW, are you're sure the ipod's not too flat for the sensor to register the rotation? I've done that before. It'll register at about a 45 degree angle.

The same album appears more than once in cover flow

*1st question:* I just got my i-pod and i-tunes pulled album artwork automatically for the songs i put in i-tunes (not all of them of course), but when i view them on my i-pod using cover flow it will have the same album cover 2 or 3 times side by side. How do i get the cover flow option to only show one album? Why is it doing this - doubling up on an album with the same songs? Do i have to rename the album within the properties of the mp3 files to make them all the same?
*2nd question:* Can i assign a mp3 file or song to a specific album within i-tunes? If i have a song that i don't know the album name of or if i don't care and just want it with other songs for an artist can i add that song to an album that is already established within i-tunes and has album artwork? Select all the songs, right click - get info.
Give them an album name (such as Unknown Album) and paste in a picture of your choosing.

The Finder and previews of files in cover flow

Just looking at the Leopard video. When I go to the finder and have the cover flow options selected, I don't see any previews of anything on my folders. The folders all have generic names. Nothing like the video tour on apple website. I can't see a preview of something in a folder, let alone play a preview of a movie in one like they do on the video tour. Am I missing something here???

I fixed my problem for the crappy looking .jpegs in cover flow now i want my folders to look good with the icons i gave them example i put the first .jpeg of the folder as a icon on the folder so I know what is in that folder. I did this along time ago but the icons look like crap. Can this be fixed? I thought cover flow showed the 1st file in the folders on cover flow?

Shuffling genre using cover flow not possible

Hi,
Using iTunes to play music over the home stereo became so much nicer with cover flow, however, you cannot shuffle, for example by genre, when using cover flow. Using list view I selected the genre and shuffle, then switched to cover flow, and it starts shuffling all songs in iTunes and does not stick to the selected genre. I guess this is because it looses the browser even if you don't use full screen mode. I could of course create playlists for all genres but this seems to be excessive use of playlists, especially because it's not necessary for anything else.

Yeah the Cover Flow option is checked when I click it. I have checked it again and it is still checked - but it still appears as the picture shown above.

The Cover Flow on my iPod classic is out of order

I use the cover flow option on my iPod classic to get to the music I want to listen to and discovered that my albums are out of order in regards of being alphabetical order by artists. For example the greatest hits and soundtracks and other compilations are moved to the back instead of being in order with the artist that made the album. Is there anyone that can help me resolve this issue?

Cover Flow won't work on Windows XP Computer

I have a Windows XP computer (Wanting to get a Mac as soon as I can buy one) and when I was on iTunes I have been trying to use the cover flow option, and it keeps saying "Cover Flow will not work on this computer" and I was wondering if there was anything I could use to fix that?

Try unistalling then reinstalling.

Cover Flow up and visible, but no movement when trying to scroll

Ok, So I looked through the forum, ran a search topic and found several references to Cover Flow, but nothing that quite matched my situation.
I just downloaded and installed Safari 4. Started it up, choose to activate the cover flow option.
It comes up on the screen (no fully viewable pages, but they seem to be added as I visit them). However I cannot get the pages to flow through to be viewed.
I can click on one side arrow or the other and the highlight bar on the list moves, but not the visual pages. Same result with the sideways scroll. I looked through help and I can (and do) use cover flow all the time on my iTunes, so it should be working in Safari 4, yes? But it's not.
Any ideas how to correct this?

Hi,
Did it when I got home from work. No joy. Decided to download the program (I originally got it by way of the software update), deleted whatever references I could find to Safari including old installers/programs. Went to all the places you suggested originally to try removing and trashed them basically tried to clean the computer of all reference to Safari.
Re installed, and believe it or not all my bookmarks came back though I had reset the safari completely so my keychain is wiped. Sigh.... We I'll just have to re-enter them all (hope I can remember them... grin). The silver lining though is I've gotten rid of the flotsam in the key chain.
The cloud to that silver lining is still no joy with the cover flow. I also just thought about this, but in the top sites on my main account, nothing automatically highlights when I run my cursor over it. It never has. But in the second user I created I have Cover Flow without problem, and on Top Site it came up with a generic list supplied by Apple that not only highlights when the cursor runs over the pane, but at the bottom the URL of the site comes up as well. Not so on the main user.
I know it will be a pain, I'm not even sure HOW I would go about migrating all of my original user stuff into the secondary, but I'm getting tempted to do that.
Or maybe I'll just delete it and put the old version in if I could figure out how to find an older version. I know others have asked to do that since they just don't care for even the working version, but I must confess I'm a bit ticked if I have to do that since I really like the idea of the Cover Flow and Top Sites.
Where would I find a fix if it ever came out later?

Safari cover flow no previews?

I don't understand the point of having the cover flow option in Safari if the application doesn't load the page previews and only shows a blank generic page preview and not the page the bookmark represents??
Is there a way to get the page previews to load automatically?

I have some more info that may help. I tried viewing a streaming video from ABC.com full screen in Safari and got nothing but the same horizontal lines I see with my iTunes cover flow. I then tried the same exact streaming video full screen with Firefox and it worked perfectly. So basically I'm only having graphics problems with Apple software - Safari and iTunes. All other programs seem to work fine. What gives?
