Cover flow Scrollbar and mouse wheel issue?

When I scroll my podcasts in cover flow view using the mouse wheel it skips some of the podcast album art.
What I mean is when moving the scrollbar left or right with the mouse wheel the scrollbar skips like half way instead of being able to scroll every single album art one after the other.
Is this normal and if so why is it designed this way?

Code Execution in Cover Flow View and .mov Files

There is a code inside QuickTime movies that gets executed in Cover Flow view in Leopard!!!!!!!!.
I was helping a friend installing Leopard on his machine, and after restarting, I was showing him the new options in the Finder, when a found a bunch of videos (searched on his computer with Spotlight) and switched to 'Cover Flow View', and then Safari started opening web pages from the internet (Mostly adult sites).
After doing some tests I've noticed that the pages load the moment the Finder 'refines' the view of the videos. You know when the Finder first generates a blocky image of the video (some times called proxy image) and then generates a higher or cleaner resolution of that same video.
Not only that, if I resize the window or the preview pane, the code executed again and Safari opened the pages again!!!!
The Finder also executed the code in icon view with the 'Show Icon Preview' option selected in 'View Options' (Command-J).
Opening the videos in QuickTime Player did not trigger the code. But I've noticed that the videos start playing the moment they open. The Inspector (Command-I) didn't show anything unusual. But the Properties window (Command-J in QuickTime Pro) show a "Sprite Track" of Format 'Sprite' but again the different tabs (Annotations, Resources, Visual Settings or Other Settings) didn't show anything unusual.
*CORRECTION: The code also gets executed at the middle of the video when played in QuickTime. So this problem is related to QuickTime.!!!!!!*
The only solution to stop the code execution is to delete the 'Sprite Track'!!!!.
I also opened the movies in TextEdit and found the following text almost at the end of all the weird symbols:

That's one of the pages that Safari was opening.
I don't know where my friend downloaded those videos, but the potential security risk is imminent.
I had the same results even after updating to QuickTime 7.3
I can upload the videos somewhere (at least the 'clean' ones) so you can make you own tests.
Any thoughts or comments?????

If I'm understanding correctly the "Sprite" is a part of how QuickTime works. In older versions you USED to be able to attach JavaScript to a sprite and do all kinds of useful and fun things. However, some websites used JavaScript to alter themselves, so a well crafted QuickTime movie could be used to deploy code that would alter websites. As a result, a LOT of this functionality was curtailed in later versions and many cool QuickTime functions no longer work.
The few that DO still work are when they are basic hyperlinks that take you to another web page, (Like at the end of this movie, BUT you have to click the link to go

) and others no longer work within the browser (they only work when using the QuickTime player). Give this a try. Use Safari to "Open File..." and open the .mov file. After it's open, see if it generates any other windows from there. If it doesn't, then I'd THINK it's operating as intended BUT it wouldn't hurt to send your feedback here for Apple to look into and/or fix it if necessary.

Blurry Cover Flow Scrollbar on Intel-GMA Macs?

I noticed many people are suffering the blurry cover flow scrollbars in iTunes ever since 7.0.0, it never got better even in 7.1. While other people are saying no problems at all no matter what they do.
Also it seems this bug only happens on Macbooks and Mac-minis, both of which are using intel-GMA graphic cards. I don't know what Mac are being used in the development of iTunes, but I think Macbook Pros and iMacs are preferred. The developpers may never know this. And I think the difference between intel Graphic Units and independent Graphic cards may lead this problem.
Let's hope developpers to solve this. Does this problem happen on other kind of Mac?

I had actually not encountered this little quirk until I updated my Mac mini to 10.4.9... when I did, this occured. Happens in the iTunes window (which is temporarily fixed by adjusting the Cover Flow display size) and in full-screen, both the scrollbar and the volume toggle are blurry. Updated from 7.1 to 7.1.1, same thing. Tried in another user account, same thing. I deleted my root-level cache (/Library/Caches), same thing. Aside from totally re-installing iTunes, I'm at a loss as to what to do, and it's such a minor thing that re-installing the application seems pretty drastic. Hope someone figures this out. Definitely gonna keep plugging away at this, though, and I'll post if I figure out if there's a fix for this.

My wacom touch ring and mouse wheel don't zoom with elements 10; they only scroll. It worked with my last version, elements 5. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Scrollbar missing on Mac OS 10.7.4 when viewing in Cover Flow mode and using wireless mouse

Mac OS 10.7.4 + using wireless mouse + viewing files in Cover Flow mode, you will find Scrollbar is missing. This problem won't happen in other combination of OS versoin + Mouse.

Parallax with easing from anchor and mouse wheel

Can anyone please point me into a tutorial on how to add mouse wheel easing with a parallax effect? An effect similar to www.boy-coy.com where easing is everywhere - in anchor links, in scrubbing the scrollbar, and even when using the mouse wheel.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I uninstalled the 1.6.06 on my Windows xp Windows Virtual Machine because I believe it was doing this.Granted, you will have the latest JRE installed, but the Forms app is still configured to use JRE 1.6.0_06. If you open your Java Console, you will see the Java version listed at the top and a message that basically states the JRE is stepping down to the specified version.
IE7.The minimum JRE version required for IE7 is Oracle Jinitiator 1.3.1.28 or Sun JRE 1.5.0_06 (Forms version 10.1.2.2) or 1.6.0_04 (Forms version 10.1.2.3).
Then I also tried on Windows 7. IE8.Windows 7/IE8 required Forms 10.1.2.3 and Sun JRe 1.6.0_16 or higher.
You can find each of these requirements in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Certification Matrix.
In order to test your client with the new JRE version, I suggest you contact your Apps Server admin (SA) and ask them to create a new config in the formsweb.cfg. This is easy to add if they use the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g - Application Server Control. Once your SA has created a config that uses the 1.6.0_23 version of the JRE, you just need to pass this as a parameter in your application URL. For example, if your URL is: "http://your.server.com:8889/forms/frmservlet" you would add "?config=your_config". All together it will look like: http://your.server.com:8889/forms/frmservlet?config=your_config

Drop-down list box and Mouse wheel.

When a xft form doesn't fit in the web browser (using webaccess) because it's bigger, the drop-down list box control has a distinct behavior than other controls like select control in html or listbox in VB.
When I click in the field to drop the list and scroll down the mouse wheel, the position of the control remains static while the form in the background scrolls down, so the drop-down list box is at the top of the other controls of the form. In most of the forms I've used, the "normal" behavior, if I can say it this way, is to scroll down the list. It doesn't disturb me at all, but some users have complained this behavior. Is there a patch for this control?
I've using form designer 5.0 with AWS version 6.2.121.0

No patch that I am aware of. It could be related to a memory issue within the browser container. I have seen this behavour many times over when dealing with larger forms.

HSlider and mouse wheel

I'm using Flex 4 and I've noticed something annoying with the spark HSlider: if I click the slider, it seems to retain focus so that even if the mouse is not over it, moving the mouse wheel up or down still causes the slider to move left or right.
I'd actually prefer that my slider not respond to mouse wheel events at all, but preventDefault() doesn't seem to work in this case. How can I get an HSlider to ignore mouse wheel events???

ITunes 7.3.2: ArtWork does not match Images on Cover Flow View and iPod

Hello everyone, this is my first post, thanks in advance for any and all help.
I have loaded most of my music collection onto iTunes, and authorized it to get album artwork. It has only found about 60% of my cover art (I have a lot of international discs, etc.), and of what it does find maybe 60% is correct. So I have spent a lot of time adding artwork by either scanning in cover art or cutting and pasting from the web. I go to "Get Info" and check the artwork tab all the time to make sure that only artwork that is correct or that I have added is attached to each of my song files.
However, I have noticed that there is a significant amount of my song files that, when I use cover flow view, or when I play the songs on my video iPod, the artwork that is on the artwork pane and what appears on the cover flow view don't match. Or the artwork that is in the artwork pane (and the only artwork in the get info artwork section) and what shows up on my iPod, don't match up. It is, for an OCD completist like me, rather annoying.
As an example, I have a lot of compilation albums. I have probably 13 different albums by different artists but which all have the same name of "The Ultimate Collection". There are some tracks for each album where the artwork pane and the cover flow view artwork match, but not all of the tracks.
I selected "group compilations when browsing", but that doesn't help. I selected all the tracks from the same album and clicked yes to whether it is a compilation, and that didn't work.
Does anyone have a simple, QUICK solution for making the artwork I have put in the artwork pane override or force itself on the cover flow view? Horrible phrasing I know, but thank you in advance for your help!

I had the same problem when I updated to 7.3, but I was able to fix it.
As far as I can tell, itunes 7.3 sees all music files (in your user/itunes/music folder) with the extension .mpg as quicktime movies, not mp3's and itunes won't let you add a cover to them. The problem is that songs imported as mp3's by previous versions of iTunes were all given the extension .mpg and not .mp3 (at least on my machine). I was able to fix the problem by simply changing the .mpg to .mp3 for all of my songs. As soon as I did this, the album artwork showed up again.
You have a few options for how you change the extension. You can right click on every file in your itunes library and select "Show In Finder" to change the file extension, or if you have many songs to fix (I had 793) you can download 'A Better Finder Rename' (search for it at www.versiontracker.com, it costs $20 to change more than 10 files at a time) which will make the changes automatically. If you are cheap you can always set up an automator work-flow to get the job done.

Cover Flow up and visible, but no movement when trying to scroll

Ok, So I looked through the forum, ran a search topic and found several references to Cover Flow, but nothing that quite matched my situation.
I just downloaded and installed Safari 4. Started it up, choose to activate the cover flow option.
It comes up on the screen (no fully viewable pages, but they seem to be added as I visit them). However I cannot get the pages to flow through to be viewed.
I can click on one side arrow or the other and the highlight bar on the list moves, but not the visual pages. Same result with the sideways scroll. I looked through help and I can (and do) use cover flow all the time on my iTunes, so it should be working in Safari 4, yes? But it's not.
Any ideas how to correct this?

Hi,
Did it when I got home from work. No joy. Decided to download the program (I originally got it by way of the software update), deleted whatever references I could find to Safari including old installers/programs. Went to all the places you suggested originally to try removing and trashed them basically tried to clean the computer of all reference to Safari.
Re installed, and believe it or not all my bookmarks came back though I had reset the safari completely so my keychain is wiped. Sigh.... We I'll just have to re-enter them all (hope I can remember them... grin). The silver lining though is I've gotten rid of the flotsam in the key chain.
The cloud to that silver lining is still no joy with the cover flow. I also just thought about this, but in the top sites on my main account, nothing automatically highlights when I run my cursor over it. It never has. But in the second user I created I have Cover Flow without problem, and on Top Site it came up with a generic list supplied by Apple that not only highlights when the cursor runs over the pane, but at the bottom the URL of the site comes up as well. Not so on the main user.
I know it will be a pain, I'm not even sure HOW I would go about migrating all of my original user stuff into the secondary, but I'm getting tempted to do that.
Or maybe I'll just delete it and put the old version in if I could figure out how to find an older version. I know others have asked to do that since they just don't care for even the working version, but I must confess I'm a bit ticked if I have to do that since I really like the idea of the Cover Flow and Top Sites.
Where would I find a fix if it ever came out later?

Safari and Mouse-wheel "click" function.

Hi.
I have this problem when i click on my mouse-wheel i can't fast scroll like i can in Internet Explorer.
Is there any setting for this or something?
I'll explain what i mean if you have problems understanding exactly where i'm going with this.
In Internet Explorer i always "click" on my mouse-wheel button to enable a faster way of scrolling up/down websites by just dragging the mouse up/down.
In Safari this option doesn't seem to exist.
Please help.

Well the answer is unfortunately NO, their are no settings you can change, and this feature is NOT included in Safari for Windows as of now anyway.

Hi, So the Shockwave Flash Object...ActiveX Control...Flash10e.ocx is installed in the manage add ons and it is enabled.
Is that the only one listed that way, no other Shockwave Flash Object? If so then that is correct.
The Flash files for Firefox (or other browsers): Flashplayer.xpt, uninstall_plugin.exe, NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe are correct IF when you right click on the 2 NPSWF files and click on Properties and they are the version 10.0.45.2.
The Flash files for IE: FlashAuthor.cfg, FlashUtil10e.exe, install.log and uninstall_activeX.exe are correct. The FIDbg10e.ocx is a debug version. The FlashPlayerTrust I don't see too often. My research tells me this was similar to the current Settings Manager but for older Flash Player versions. Anytime I see that or the FIDbg10e.ocx, or even older versions I recommend removing it. Sometimes a user will even have an older version of the debug .ocx.
I don't know what Flash files are installed if say a user has only the debug version. But what I see here is a mix. The IE Flash files have the current version (the first three listed) and a debug .ocx. I would think that would certainly cause a conflict. The correct file should be Flash10e.ocx.
If you were just concerned about your Flash Player working correctly or not, I would suggest removing the FIDbg10e.ocx and the FlashPlayerTrust.
You might want to go to this Adobe Flash Player test site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ I would be interested in knowing what that result is.

Bluetooth keyboard and mouse disconnect issue

I have a 20" Aluminium iMac with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Recently i've started to have some issues where the keyboard keeps disconnecting & reconnecting, also the mouse going slow and jerky. They have been working perfectly fine for the past year but only recently started to play up. I have gone into bluetooth prefs and deleted them and re-connected, this seemed to be a temporary fix but after a while it started again, although not as bad as before. I usually leave my Mac on all the time and just put it in sleep mode, the issue now seems to be waking it from sleep as well. I have tried restarts and re pairing as i said before but nothing seems to be solving the issue. Any ideas or fixes would be appreciated.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I have an MacBook with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I've had them for about a year and they've worked perfectly; this problem has only showed up in the last couple of weeks. I didn't know whether it was a hardware problem or software (perhaps a recent software update), but considering the exact same thing is happening to someone else I'm inclined to think software rather than hardware.
The keyboard disconnects and reconnects (immediately) a couple of times an hour. It's not such a problem with the keyboard, but whenever that happens, the mouse goes very slow for several minutes, until it finally works out. The mouse doesn't disconnect (I have hardware growl on and am notified of disconnections/connections); it just goes very slow.

Cover Flow Crashes and Exits to Home Screen

Hey, guys! I'll want to report this to Apple as well. When I flip through album art using Cover Flow slowly, I don't get any problems. But when I try to go long distances, Cover Flow lags then eventually exists back to the Home Screen. Does anyone else get this problem?

Mouse Wheel Issues

Anyone else having problems scrolling windows in the Adobe products? I can only get it to work in Bridge, the mouse wheel doesn't scroll any windows in the rest of the suite.
I'm now running Windows 7 RC with the newest IntelliPoint driver for such. A producer friend has very nice scroll behavior on his XP system. So I'm wondering what other folks are experiencing

I'll let the youngsters, with time on their hands, report back. When the successes greatly outweight the calls for help, I'll order it up.
Now, you'd reported pretty good success with it, so maybe it is getting ready for release. What's the target date, Oct. '09?
