Cover Flow with PSDs (Photoshop Documents)

Hi,
I have a question. When you're saving Photoshop PSD files out of CS3 in Leopard, should you include the File Previews in the file or not? It used to be that you had to embed the little Icon Previews in the files themselves, but I believe Leopard automatically generates these when it needs them, right?
So, if you're using Photoshop CS3 and Leopard, what are the best options to use when saving PSDs?

I turned them all off - except for the symbol one ( I am using a german photoshop so it might be worded differently in your version ). But the Full Size, Miniatures I have unchecked.
But if you are interchanging these files with windows users, etc. you might want to leave the windows miniature ticked.

  • Cover Flow with shared Music

    Hi,
is it possible to use Cover Flow with my shared music?

I have the exact same problem. I guess we're a minority enough that Apple doesn't care about those with large iPods and laptops (so no syncing).
The problem is that with iTunes 7, it was changed to accomdate CoverFlow. Previously, all album art added was automatically embedded into the file.
However, CoverFlow deals with loading lots of images, so iTunes 7 stores the album art in a folder - instead of embedding - in your iTunes directory as a "cache" so that it can easily and quickly retreive the images when you view CoverFlow (as opposed to having to reload every time).
You can't use CoverFlow for iPod music because iTunes doesn't have the image data stored somewhere consistent, and so would have to reload the album art everytime you reconnect your iPod and use CoverFlow, and then keep this image data stored on your computer even if that iPod is never again connected. This could be a strain on your resources, and so I guess Apple decided to play it simple and allow you to only use CoverFlow for music it knows that it has a cache for and that it knows still exists.
The best way around it is if you can store all your mp3s on an external drive, then when you add them to your library you'll be able to use CoverFlow.
Other then that, Apple's message seems to be "get a desktop" or "get a nano."

  • Cover flow with compilation albums

    Hi,
I have three compilation albums on my Ipod 4g that currently mess up the whole cover flow, each artist gets its own album art so I have like 20 albums with one song in it. I looked for a solution but found the same problem posted in 2007 already. Did Apple fix this in Itunes 8 or what can I do to get a nice compilation album. I already tried settings the artist name to Various (worked in Itunes, but not on my Ipod), I tried the sorting things but neither of those worked. Any known solutions so I'm able to use cover flow again?
    Thanks!

Did not work for me, I can select this option if I right click a song, but as soon as I select multiple files the option of "part of compilation" is gone? I don't think I'm supposed to select this option for every song, one at a time? Also, should I do this when the songs are already on my Ipod or when they are still on the computer? Thanks for your help!
EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see the "options" part in your solution. Now it works!

  • Cover flow with ipod

I just downloaded itunes 7 for windows, amd running windows XP and I have an Ipod nano.
cover flow works fine with my libarary on my computer, but I am not able to use it when I play music from my ipod through itunes on my computer. Is this not an option or am I doing something wrong.
    help?

Well actually you've always been able to play music via your iPod on the computer.
The point of being able to do this is if you have a situation in which you plug your iPod into a computer other than your own (or the one the iPod is associated with) that doesn't have any of your music on it, like a computer at work or in a school computer lab, etc. I use this all the time at the office.
It would be neat to see cover flow on the iPod, but I'm fairly certain that would require some 3d graphics acceleration, which iPods don't quite have yet. Hopefully once they get to that point, they'll be able to do fullscreen visualizations :-D.

  • Cover flow WITH column view?

I like coverflow (more than I thought I would) however, the downward movement of the file path(s) below gets a little awkward. The perfect combination would be coverflow at top with a column view below. Any chance this can be done with some sort of hack or third party software? Maybe the the next update? This would be the icing on the cake for me.

sorry not an answer, but i want to be in on the thread if one comes up, + wanted to agree with you. Coverflow is beautiful; and pretty handy, but currently it only really works in virtually empty folders, as soon as you list drops down too far it becomes awkward (and is probably the reason apple invented the column view) dunno why they didn't reaslise this themselves?
surely column view is the preferred view for most users these days, there fore you;d expect the 'new' feature to work with that view not the old system 9 folder list view. I bet catfish would have done it better! ( the inventor of coverflow! )

  • Cover Flow with Ipod Music?

    Hi
This is something i never understood since the introduction of itunes 7.x and it's coverflow feature. Why isn't it available for the ipod music library?
All my music is stored on the ipod (and additionally as backup on a firewire drive that i rarely use), because i don't want to waste 60gb of my macbook-pro drive with mp3's...
So why isn't there any coverflow-feature for the ipod library? Or does anyone know a trick to enable it? Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Does iTunes 10.7 (Cover-Flow work with Mavericks and if not what do I have to do?

What do I have to do to keep my 10.7 iTunes (Cover-Flow) with Mavericks?
Thanks guys all appreciated responses will be accepted in this matter.

I just had the similar issue. I redeemed my iTunes gift card then went to download something and was asked for my billing info. I completed the information and I think accepted terms and then had a pop-up telling me that my my account would be debited with the purchase. My VISA (billing info) did not appear to be charged as my gift card amount showing in the top right decreased with the purchase. So I just completing the information and hopefully it will happen the same for you! Good luck!

  • Finder/Cover Flow

I only seem to bring up a few files in cover flow that show up with an icon. All others are blank... Is anyone else having this problem? Shouldn't all file show up in cover flow with an icon?

I am having a similar problem
Cover Flow always goes back to default size whenever I close a window in the finder

  • Are the Finder Cover Flow options as limited as I think?

    Hello there,
Been a happy user of macs for about eight years now and do a lot of work in graphic design. As a result navigating folders and previewing content is very important to me and the ease of my work flow. I have to say however that while Finder provides a somewhat decent solution in 'Coverflow' I believe that it's far too limited in scope.
My main irk (if you will) is that while using cover flow the browsing option seems limited to the 'list' browsing method which, personally, I can't stand. I find it odd that there is no option to use Cover Flow with the column browser. Is this 100% the case? Or is there something I'm missing, maybe even a work around that allows me to do so (and no, not quicklook).
Honestly it doesn't strike me as something difficult to implement because both coverflow and columns already exist.
I'm sure that if such a feature existed I'd use and appreciate Cover Flow far more. Anybody else share this feeling?
Anyway back to the drawing tablet.
    Jas

Yes. The icon to switch between cover flow view and multicolumn view doesn't offer both. Whether or not it is a reason why, but you get a preview of the contents of the files when you select them in the column to their right in column view. List view doesn't offer you a preview except in coverflow. So coverflow is a way of giving List view a preview without destroying the integrity of the list.

  • What happened to cover flow, I just updated and I dont have it anymore ***??

What happened to the cover flow with the album artwork?? is it somewhere on the new itunes version??

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
N.b. iOS 7 requires iTunes 11.1 or later. Do not downgrade iTunes if you have already upgraded your devices... Roll back of iOS is not possible.
If you feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

The file was corrupted somewhere along the way (assuming it was still readable on the Macintosh).
The platforms don't matter, but you still need file transfer that doesn't corrupt files...

  • What's wrong with my iPod's Cover Flow??

I have an iPod Touch 3rd Gen, 32Gb, and recently updated to IOS 5.
Since then, the iPod's cover flow feature is extremely slow, doesn't flow smoothly, and crashes after a few (15-20) seconds.
Today I noted something else: some album covers appear pixelated and blurry, even though HD. Those covers looked just fine until now.
As a side note, I have in use 30 of the 32 Gb (that's a lot of music, I know). Could this be related? I never had those problems before IOS 5, though.
    What's wrong with my iPod?
    Thanks for your help!

so as I see it people with this problem have 3 options
    - Make all of your album art a maximum of 500X500 pixels
    - Wait for an IOS update that fixes the problem
    - Scrap ipods and buy another brand of music player
Using photoshop to do it with, it took me about an hour to resize, change, and resync all of my 1400 songs(86 albums)

I am using a Photoshop cs2, and I wonder if it is possible to keep the settings of the guidelines when closing an image, with the actual document ? It would be nice to have the guidelines locked down, I find it than when opening the same or another image, the guidelines are not locked, it is annoying to have to lock them down again. and it would actually be nice, to ba able to give specific directions when placing the guidelines. Thanks

Then why are the guides unlocked when I reopen a document that I saved with the guides locked ?
    Thanks.

Hi. I am having an issue with music on my IPod. It would probably be easier to explain my specific issue: I have songs by Band of Horses from Cease to Begin. When viewing my albums through cover flow, it shows Cease To Begin as two separate albums, one with only Islands on the Coast, and the other having Islands on the Coast with 3 other songs. If I delete the album with only one song from my IPod, it deletes the song from the other "album" as well. If I go to "All Songs" by Band of Horses, it only shows one Islands on the Coast, so it is not a duplicate issue. Also, in Itunes, it only shows one album. I just recently updated to iOS5 on my 4th Gen IPod Touch, if that helps.
