Cover sleep mode, but reboots, help

There seems to be a problem when the cover is closed to make the iPad mini sleep.  Normally when the iPad is in sleep mode and a Face Time comes in, there is an alert that says, hey someone is calling you.  There is no sound, and it seems like the iPad is rebooting up when I want to wake it up from the sleep mode.
If the ipad is put into sleep mode without closing the cover, it is all fine then because I am not opening the cover, but when the cover is on the Ipad screen, it reboots all over again.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Yvon

Since this is a G4 mini (according to your sig line), the first thing to try is a PMU reset to ensure the issue isn't caused by a problem in power management:
- Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Plug in the power cord while simultaneously pressing and holding the power button on the back of the computer.
- Let go of the power button.
- Press the power button once more to start up your Mac mini.
If that doesn't help, and the sleeping doesn't coincide with the fan spinning up (you would certainly hear that if it were) then it's not likely to be a heat-related problem unless the fan itself is faulty. I'd still follow the advice to ensure the vents are clear (you can blow through them while everything is disconnected for the PMU reset), but next likely culprit is either something connected to the system (USB devices are common culprits in sleep-related issues) or a problem with the MacOS install/configuration.
Next step would be to create a new user account on the system and log into that. If the issues continue, the problem is system-level, if not, it's a problem with something in your user account. It would then be worth downloading a copy of Preferential Treatment (from www.versiontracker.com) and running that. This will examine the property list files at both system and user level and flag any that are damaged. If it finds anything, remove the damaged files (the system will create new ones automatically).

    Hi fremley,
    Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    This article may be helpful with determining why your Mac Pro doesn't stay in sleep mode:

    Some things reset the sleep timers, preventing the computer from sleeping:
    Hard drive access (even if you're not using the computer, a running application might be accessing your drive, such as when downloading a large file or listening to music in iTunes)
    Moving the mouse or using a portable Mac's trackpad, pressing a mouse button, or pressing a key on the keyboard
    Some System Preferences settings (see below)
    Open applications (see below)

  • Macbook connectivity lost after waking up from sleep mode or rebooting

    Being an Ex-Microsoft user , I am sad to say that Microsoft products still beats Apple's MAC in stability for certain functions.
    For instance, this Macbook laptop does not seem to be able to reconnect to the home's gateway/ router (or any other gateway, for the matter) after it wakes up from sleep mode or rebooting.
    I've read several similar posts on this topic in the internet and am convince to say that it is not the gateway/ router that the Mac is connected to giving the problem as there are other computers(Microsoft-based) connected to the same gateway working perfectly fine.
    Furthermore the Fujitsu laptop I was using previously had connected to the gateway flawlessly... until the darn-thing broke down (grumble....grumble...)
    So far, it seemingly so, that no other person has managed to figure and resolve this one out yet. Also, no Apple support staff has responded nor helped resolved other related-connectivity problems.
    Is there a real hope for us??

    The previous solution only worked for a few days.
    I have another fix from Apple that is working (for now):
    Go to the network preference pane and create a new location by using the location pull-down menu. Call it whatever you want.
    Select the new location. Choose the little tool icon dropdown under the left column of services and choose "set service order" Drag things around so that airport comes first and then ethernet. Save, apply, do what you need to do to save all of these settings. Restart the computer.
    There might have been some other steps, but these are the main and most important parts.
    The default configuration for service order is wrong and the computer gets hung looking around for a bluetooth or firewire network connection. After every major system update, check that the service order is set right--it could get overwritten.

  • TS2634 iPad Smart Cover sleep mode isn't functioning when top lid is closed, iPad still on.

    Smart Cover isn't functioning correctly.  When lid is in place I can still see my iPad on with screen light.  No click sound after lid is place also.  I have remove the Smart Cover and fitted it to my iPad but still Smart Cover sleep mode is not working.

    Go to Settings>General and make sure the switch to iPad Smart Cover On/Off is set to On.

  • 2007 iMac keeps freezing mostly after sleep mode, but now does it randomly

    Coming out of sleep mode it does it every couple of days. Recently it has done while I have been watching a movie. I have restored from scratch and reinstalled Mountain Lion. I don't have many apps running at the same time for I only have 4 gigs (the machine maxed out), so I don't know what else it could be and I do not know how to read the log. I am attaching a copy of the log from when I had to manually shut it down and turn it back on. I hope someone can help me. Oh and I have also cleared the SMC according to instructions on this community with no avail. Thank you guys in advance.

  • MacBook Pro (Late) 2008 running 10.8.4 Have a Black Screen cannot get out of sleep mode/will reboot/will sound off at restart.

    MacBook Pro (Late) 2008 running 10.8.4
    I was using my computer every morning as I do everyday with no issues. I had left home for most of the day. Closed lid and while I was gone for a couple of hours. I returned home, opened my MacBook and nothing but a black screen. I've tried many things all evening try and fix this problem out of "safety sleep mode, and other similiar tricks that other people had tried.
    I still have a Black Screen and cannot get my macbook out of what seems to be the sleep mode.
    I've done a master reset and after I restart, I do get the power up chime but still a black screen. I don't know what else to do. Please help. Should I bring computer to a local repair shop or is there something I can do to fix myself. I just don't know where to start.
    Thank you.

  • HP laptop does not wake up from the sleep mode! Urgent help needed!

    Hi everyone,
    I have purchased HP Pavilion DM4 laptop 3 months ago, for the past month when the laptop goes in the sleep mode ( after being idle for several minutes) and I then try to wake up by hitting any key, even power button, nothing happens. Power light keeps beeping but nothing happens. I have to pull battery and restart the laptop, this is extremly painful as I keep loosing my unsaved documents all the time.
    This happens once in every 2 tries. I would really appreciate a help!

    Perform a hard reset on the Notebook. To perform a hard reset, follow the steps below.
    Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC.
    Remove the battery from the notebook battery compartment.
    Disconnect any external devices or peripherals connected to the notebook. Press and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds
    After this, update the firmware of your Notebook by downloading it from here Let us know if issue persists even after this done.

  • Since I upgraded to OS 10.6.8 from 10.5.x my 2x3GHz quad-core Intel Xeon desktop spontaneously turns off as if I pulled the plug. Mostly it happens when there is no open software and it's in the sleep mode, but it has happened while I'm working.

    Since I upgraded to OS 10.6.8 from 10.5.x my 2x3GHz quad-core Intel Xeon desktop spontaneously turns off as if I pulled the plug. Mostly it happens when there is no open software and it's in the sleep mode (because it spends more time like that), but it has happened while I'm working. It just suddenly quits.

    This is a suspicious sign of power supply failure. I would have that checked into. Others who have had similar problems have had the power supplies replaced which fixed the issue.

  • W520 entering sleep mode but sleep disabled in power mgmt?

    I have a W520 running Windows 7 Professional. Just recently, my laptop has been going into sleep mode after being idle for about 2-4 minutes (the time is not consistent). My power management is set to "high performance". Put the computer to sleep is set to "Never". The advanced power settings are:
    Sleep after
    On battery: Never
    Plugged in: Never
    Allow hybrid sleep
    On battery: Off
    Plugged in: Off
    Hibernate after
    On battery: Never
    Plugged in: Never
    Allow wake timers
    On battery: Disable
    Plugged in: Disable
    Does anybody have an idea of why my laptop goes into sleep mode after 2-4 minutes? Is this a software or hardware problem?

    Hi KnightCa,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    I'm really sorry to hear that your Lenovo W520 goes into sleep mode even after it has been disabled in Power management.
    Go to Control panel - - >Power Options - - >Change plan settings (Choose the Power plan that you have selected) - - >Change advanced power settings - - >Adjust the settings under sleep and display as shown below.
    Also, try doing a windows update and reinstallation of Power manager in your system.
    If the above said didn’t help, try doing a registry editing.
    1. Open the Start Menu.
    2. In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.
    3. If prompted, click on Continue in the prompt.
    4. In regedit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\238C9FA8-0AAD-41ED-83F4-97BE242C8F20\7bc4a2f9-d8fc-4469-b07b-33eb785aaca0\DefaultPowerSchemeValues.
    5. Expand DefaultPowerSchemeValues and Click on the key that is for the Power Plan that you want to change the wait time (Refer the table below)
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    6. In the right pane, right click on ACSettingIndex (while on AC power) or DCSettingIndex (while on battery power) and click on Modify.
    7. Choose Decimal, and type in how many seconds you want Windows to wait to go back to sleep automatically after an unattended wakeup.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    8. Close regedit.
    9. Restart the computer to apply.
    Hope this helps and do post back with the results. Expecting to hear from you soon.
    Best Regards,
    Mithun.

  • Apple tv goes into sleep mode but doesn't boot up (tv screen is blank) unless I power it off thn back on.

    apple tv 2 will operate normaly after initial startup, but doesn't always wake out of sleep mode. Status light is steady white but no image is displayed on the tv screen. Power the unit off then back on and the menu appears on the screen. Any thoughts? Just did the latest software update...

    Try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.

  • Ipod would only go inot sleep mode but not turning off

    ever since I update the software to 1.2.3., my ipod won't turn off. every time I press play/pause, it goes right into sleep mode. I didn't realize it until my ipod started being out of battery almost every 2 or 3 days several times when i only used it for 1 or 2 hours per day. (while before that, with the same usage, I only need to charge it like every 2 weeks.) Is anyone having the same problem? and how can i solve it?

    First step is to do a reset on the iPod. You might need to plug it into a USB port and leave it there for 30 minutes to trickle charge. Then...
    Slide the hold switch from OFF to ON back to OFF then immediately hold down BOTH the center and Menu buttons for a good 15 seconds or until it restarts with the Apple logo.
    Resetting isn't always effective once and you may need to retry it several times to get it to work.

  • Input field in display mode; but F4 help has to be avail

    Hi,
                i have a input field in my view and i want that one to be in display mode ( the intention is that i want to have the value to be filled from F4 help values only).  I have set the read only set for the input field. I have tried all the cases of normal ddic help;OVS;Freely input help; context node info value set but no luck.
    In the below forum message Re: how to provide f4 help to the read only input field  i could see the input from Thomas that the Freely input help will be useful in this case;I tired this way too but no luck.
    Can you please let me know do i missed any point ;your inputs are higly appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Satish A.

    hi,Satish A.
    After check your requirement, i think you can use "Freely programmed Input help".You can search them in this forum or google, i think you will get some clue.
    As a reply, i summarize this topic simply. Take one example.
    Scenario:
    F4-help component will be used for "F4". It displays all the data in table, and you can select one record, then the F4-help will be closed and the "CARRID" will be returned to the Read-only field in your main component.
    F4-help-component
    (1). You should implement one WD Component which implemented the WD interface "IWD_VALUE_HelP".
    (2).In this component, you can add one "Interface event", for example, named "Select". And this event has one parameter "CARRID".
    (3).In the table's  OnSELECT event, you can use:
    method ONACTIONSELECT_ROW .
      data:
        lo_Node      type ref to If_Wd_Context_Node,
        lo_Elem      type ref to If_Wd_Context_Element,
        ls_elem      type wd_this->element_table,
        lt_elem      type wd_this->elements_table.
    *1. get the Solution-list context node
      lo_Node = wd_context->get_child_node( Name = 'TABLE' ).
    *2. set the lead selection of table
      lo_node->set_lead_selection( element = NEW_LEAD_SELECTION ).
    *3. get the attribute value of selected row
      NEW_LEAD_SELECTION->get_Static_Attributes(
        importing
           Static_Attributes = ls_elem ).
    *4. Fire interface event:
    "will return the CARRID parameter
      WD_COMP_CONTROLLER->Fire_select_Evt(
          CARRID = ls_elem-carrid ).
    *5. close the F4 help
      WD_COMP_CONTROLLER->F4_LISTENER->CLOSE_WINDOW( ).
    endmethod.
    In your main component:
    (1). Use your F4-help component as used-component
    (2). set your context attribute's input help mode as "Freely programmed". At the same time, input your component usage which is added in step 1.
    (3). You should add one Event-handler for your F4-help component Interface event, for example, named "On_f4_help". you can use:
    method ON_F4_HELP .
    "This event handler will has one parameter named "CARRID" automatically
      wd_context->set_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name = 'IPFIELD'
          value = CARRID
    endmethod.
    Hope it can help you a little.
    Best wishes.

  • Officejet 8100 acts like it has a sleep mode, but I can't find any controls for that.

    It will work correctly one day, but then when I try to use it the following day, nothing works, the power button fades in and out, but does nothing.  If I unplug the printer and plug it back in, it will work.  How do I fix it so it stays online all the time?
