Cover Switch for toshiba LS35 laptop

I have an issue with my laptop where the screen will behave as if the cover is closed when any pressure is placed on or around the opening on the base of the laptop that receives the little locking tang that is on the inside cover (screen side).  If the laptop is on a smooth flat surface and is not touched and just used for surfing with a mouse, there are no issues.  Try to type or pick it up, or put it on your lap and the screen wants to kick out, then go back on based on pressure placed on the above area.  I have changed the power settings so that the computer won't go into sleep mode, but any pressure in that area tells the screen to shut off.   It would seem to me that there is some sort of short there.  Can that switch be replaced or disabled?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you hear any rattling like a loose screw that might cause a short?  I have seen similar issues where the right amount of pressure on the surface can affect parts underneath (such as power to the mousepad, LCD, etc).  I would have to look at it to be sure and that is why taking it in would be easier - at least to find out if it is the surface bezel or more internal issues. When outside of warranty, some Geek Squad locations can help you self-order parts from PartSearch for very simple repairs, but that is at an Agent's discretion if they will install parts in the store for a fee.  Either way, this type of repair is usually worth having a professional fix since we do not yet know if there are electrical issues.  I strongly advise you not to open the laptop.  Please seek assistance and be sure your data is backed up before submitting for service/repair.

  • Actual dimensions for Toshiba - Satellite Laptop A665-S6050?

    Good Morning Everyone,
    I recently purchased the Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i3 Processor / 16" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Slate Model: A665-S6050 | SKU: 9988697.
I would like to purchase a sleeve for this laptop, but I can't find the true dimensions online.  I don't have the laptop with me, so I can't just measure it.  The specs I'm finding online list the width as 4.2 inches.  Clearly, this is an error.
If anyone has the actual length, width, and thickness of this laptop, please reply.
    Thanks for the help!

  • What printers are good match for Toshiba Vista laptop wireless?

I want to buy a photoprinter that would work with my wife's Toshiba  Satellite A505 laptop from 2010 with built-in wireless.  Any idea  of a printer that would be easy to set up?   thanks mjc46

    Hi,
For wireless ready printers, the setup is nearly all the same. You can buy from any brand and the main point is your budget and RUNNING COST (cost per page). Please browse this book and make your decision:

  • Where to get Disassembly Manual for Toshiba P505D laptops (P505D-S8007)

Is there any place to download the Disassembly Manual for the Toshiba P505D series of laptops (mine is the P505D-S8007).
    Thanks!

I have followed the above referenced video and successfully disassembled the Toshiba P505D-8930.  The video was almost a perfect guide with perhaps one exception.  It shows taking ribbon cables off quickly, and not in any detail.  I almost wrecked on cable so I'd like to pass on what I found.  There are 3 types of cables on the board (my own made upped names):  a plug in, a slide in and a clip in.
The plug in is sort of obvious because the wired portion is inserted into a plug.  You grab the wired plastic portion, pull outwards while wiggling slightly left and right.
The slide in cable has a piece of extra plastic hanging from the ribbon cable.  The plastic is used to pull the cable out of the socket (again wiggling as pulling).  However, be careful.  Look to make sure it is not a plug in or a clip in first.  The piece of extra pulling plastic does not, by itself, mean it is a slide in cable.
Lastly, is the clip cable.  On my board the clip cables have a white socket with a thin black piece of plastic in front.  If you take your fingernail and put in under the black plastic, you can push upwards and the plastic will swivel up 90 degrees to the unclipped position.  You then pull on the plastic tab to remove the cable.
One mistake I made was on a cable that ran from 2 plugs on the far right hand side to one plug in the middle of the board.  The middle, single plug had a black cloth pull tab instead of plastic and I thought it was a slide in.  I pulled on the cloth and it ripped (because it was a plug type, not a slide in).  I think I only damaged the cloth and not the underlying wires but it is why you should check, double check, that it is not a clip/plug before pulling on something.
When following the video, you do not need to remove the LCD screws/screen if you have nothing that needs to be done to it.  The motherboard comes out fine without removing the screen.
The CPU is as I described it in the previous post but the screw to release it has to be turned 180 degrees (the screw will stop turning when fully unlocked or locked.  Turn counterclockwise to unlock, clockwise to lock).
The YouTube video is outstanding but it only shows how to unassembled it, not reassemble it.  You can get the video to run backwards by using freeware called Video Time Reversal 2 located at:  http://www.xander.free.fr/info/Time_Reversal/index_en.html.
Keep track of your screws and where they go.  The screws in the plastic base the motherboard metal casing and the motherboard itself have different sizes.  As you remove screws, note the labeling near the screws (etched in the black plastic base, the metal interior casing or the motherboard).  The larger screws are indicated by" an Arrow symbol on the motherboard, an etched number of M25x6.51 in the metal casing and F8 on the plastic housing.
I know the original post is old and so is the computer.  But it is old stuff that needs work and it is always the hardest to find.  Hope this helps someone.

  • Faster WIFI Card for Toshiba L455D Laptop

Looking for a wifi card to replace the ATL8187SE card in my L455D.  My reason for wanting to do this is because the 8187 max. download speed is aroung 20 Mbps and I need a card that can double this speed so I can take advantage of my 50 Mbps provided by my internet provider.
    Thanks

Not sure what the issue is that's resulting in a change for you. However, the MBP's wireless reception has always been comparatively poor relative to many other laptops. It's not a Mac issue per se, it's the aluminum casing, which blocks the wireless signal whereas polycarbonate does not. MacBooks (non-Pro) get significantly better reception than MBPs with the same wireless card.
Nevertheless, to answer your question, here's an ExpressCard 802.11n adapter and a cheaper USB 802.11n adapter that will work with your MBP.
    Hope this helps...

  • Transfer of On-Line registration for Toshiba Laptop

What is the procedure for transfer of Online Registration for Toshiba Laptop
when I bought from a delaer who has already registered on his name.

    Hi
I believe its not possible to do it on the website.
I think you have to contact the Toshiba service partner in your country.
I think you will need also a confirmation from you dealer who has registered this notebook.
But the ASP should give you more details what is needed.
The whole database of ASP worldwide you will find on the Toshiba European support page.

  • No Warranty for LCD Pixel dead for a new Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523

    Hey,
I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523 Laptop in Oct 2009. In January 2010 My motherboard went dead so I have sent the laptop to the Toshiba Depot Center initially they said they will repair it and send it within 3 - 5 Business day but they took nearly 15 days to ship it back.
Once I have received there is the big surprise. One of the pixel on my screen is dead and I tired calling the Toshiba customer care at 1-800-457-7777 and the transfer the call to Depot center which takes nearly 40 to 50 mins to get an engineer on the call for which we need so much of patients.
Today I requested to transfer the call to the Case Manager and when I told her about the problem she again tells me to call the depot and file a case with them and the UPS for the damage and she also mentioned that there is no warranty covered for the LCD Screen.
But when I shipped the laptop to the Toshiba Depot I don't had any dead pixels. Im tired calling Toshiba can anyone help me out.
    Regards,
    Prem.

I got problem with my Toshiba tecra A9 laptop. There is thick black line at the corner of LCD, I contacted 2 toshiba service centers but they paased me to the Toshiba support. They said that Toshiba will not pay us for LCD repair and asked me to call toshiba support and ask for their autorisation. I also called toshiba support several times, but they just make me confused. They said randomly some bizzare phrases: the service centers should aks us for autorisation no., LCD did not coverd by warranty, You made a physical damage, contact another service center, we will contact you within this business day...
The reason I have bought Tecra model was that toshiba called it as bussiness class, and offered a 3 years limited warranty!!! But the warranty is a whole fake to cheat with the clients. They even do not care about business and dont understand how our professional life is depends to our laptop. such a shame for them.
They pay some employees to talk with you several hours, just to deny their warranty and don't give you a good service!
I wonder how they calculate the repaire cost of LCD. I already find wensite which offer the LCD just for 95$. There are lots of replacement guide all over internet. I will suggest toshiba that I can service them for LCD replacement for as low as 150$. That would be a good business for me and a big deal for toshiba! At least Toshiba will not loose their clients.
From my side, I will start to aware all student around me at university to never trust Toshiba quality and warranty services and do not risk their professional life with the toshiba product and services! It seems that Dell is going to be the leader in customer services and hence in future market!

  • PLEASE HELP!! MY Toshiba L300 Laptop has black screen after Bios update

Hi, I was looking on Toshiba's website last night for an updated driver/software to fix my windows update which was not working. Whilst looking I had a message pop up saying Bois out of date and there was an updated verion, so I clicked update for my specific laptop, thinking that will be better. A window come up saying do not switch off. The the screen froze, and I could not do anything whilst it slowly updated, then the screen went black and remained that way for a considerable amount of time. I tried rebooting the laptop, it turns on, but bios will not load, the screen just remains black. Can anyone please help me, why would an update be on Toshiba's offical website if it does this?
    Laptop: Toshiba L300-25G
    Model: PSLB8E-0PG007EN
    Serial: 59328582Q

That doesn't appear to be a US model, and this is the forums for Toshiba USA. You may want to contact Toshiba in your region. If it's a European model, you could check the Toshiba Europe forums.

  • What is the best & cheap backup solution for a macpro laptop?

What is the best & cheap backup solution for a macpro laptop? easy & simple to use

    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components: 1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences; and, 2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    SuperDuper!
    Synk Pro
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
    Cool Drives
    OWC
    WiebeTech
    Firewire Direct
    California Drives
    NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD

Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD's came with it, just the programs installed on the computer. Since I have been a long-time Dell customer, where all programs installed also come with various CDs/DVDs, I am rather surprised, especially when you consider that I bought a complete Win 7 Utl OS. Where are the discs? For me this can be a future deal breaker. Is Toshiba so confident that their machines will never need to see an OS disc?

they havent put the discs in with there products for a few year now. there is a recovery partition on the hard drive you can use for a recovery. they also have a program called recovery media creator on your laptop to make your own recovery media. it is a way that if people dont make the recovery media you have to call and order some and toshiba gets another $25 for the user. there is a section in your users guide( search users guide in start menu) about page 60 shows how to recover from partition.
    hope that helps

  • Is magnets in an ipad cover, good for the ipad?

Just wondering if magnets in an ipad cover, good for the ipad. Some poeple say its fine and other say its gives problems with you ipad.
So what whitch one is it good or bad?

The Apple cover has magnets. If magnets caused problems, Apple wouldn't use them.
Magnets, if strong enough, can cause problems with hard drives like in a laptop, or like old floppy discs. However, the iPad uses a flash type hard drive not affected by magnets.

  • I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir. I am trying to view videos from within my power points. These were played on Adobe player and shockwave player. Is it safe to install that on a Mac? If not how can I play these?

I just switched from an HP laptop to a MacAir laptop. I had previously developed a number of powerpoints in which i have video links that require adobe shockwave player. I can no longer play them on the MacAir. Is it safe to download the Adobe player? If not how can I play these videos now?

Adobe players are safe.  Go to adobe.com and their site should detect the latest version for your hardware.

  • TOSHIBA SAT LAPTOP L305-S5968 SHUT DOWN AND DIED

HI FOLKS, This is my first post. I m glad I found this forum because I am at a loss. I am here for a friend whose Toshiba Sat. laptop was giving her a "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME" blue screen message and would reboot... It would do this for about 3 times then it would boot as far as the mouse arrow but no further..
So I took it home, read up on it.. and proceeded to use the chkdsk/f method but I didn't get far because it died.
And this is my current issue.. Symptoms; No power when button is pressed. No lights. No hum of a fan. No reaction at all. With or without the battery pack or the AC .
I did the 30 sec hold the button down method, heck I did it for a minute just to be sure. Once with and once w/o the battery pack installed.
I would assume the battery pack had at least some charge because it was plugged in for about 20 minutes but that makes no difference. It acts as if it gets NO power from the AC or the battery which makes me hesitate to get a new AC power adapter.
Is there a handy lil reset reality button on the underside that the online manual fails to mention? Maybe something obvious I did not consider?
    HELP!

If it's not the power adapter, then it may well be a board level issue. Obviously, something's died. Is it possible you could borrow another adapter just to test with? Maybe go into a retail store with the machine and try it real quick. Tell the store if this doesn't work you'll have there group check it out? <shrugging> You don't have to follow through. Or do the opposite, take your power adapter and try it on another machine without the battery plugged in and see if it will power up.
