Coverage area and perimeter

Hello,
I don´t understand very well the difference between coverage area and perimeter in the WCS Map Editor.
I only want that APs coverage offer service inside the building and then avoid that a person can connects when he is outside the building.
To do it, What I have to do? I have to draw a coverage area inside the building or perimeter, or both?
Regards,

Hi, thx for your reply. I played with the Planner, defining one large Perimeter and 4 Coverage Areas inside, excluding one Inner Area. The Planner dont worry about that, he plans for the full Area. Regards, Michael

  • Measure area and perimeter at the same time

    I tried to measure area and perimeter at the same time but couldnt find a way to do that. I need to cover an area and to see area and perimeter at the same time and drawing two seperate measure lines -one for area the other for perimeter, is gonna be quite time consuming for me. Is there a way to see area and perimeter at one shot? I am using Adobe Acrobat XI Professional.

    one thing to not bout this before a bunch of formula go flying around:
    sometime people foolishly think that there are 360 degrees in a circle, but they are wrong there is really 2*PI radians :)
    For a Sector of a Circle of Radius 'r'
    Area = 0.5 * r * r * a - a is the angle in radians
    Arc Length = r * a
    Perimiter = Arc Length + 2 * r
    here is the trick if you are told that the angle is 10% of a circle then
    a = 2 * Math.PI() * (10/100)
    if you are told it is 45 degrees
    a = 45 / 360 * 2 * Math.PI()
    that should help a bit

  • Area and Perimeter of Slice of Pie

    I have a class assignment to figure both the perimeter and area of a Circle, rectangle and a slice of pie based on user input. I have the circle and the rectangle working correctly, however I am having trouble with the slice of pie. I have to prompt the user for the degrees of the slice of pie and the radius of the slice of pie and some how figure out the perimeter and area. Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Verizon wirelss seems to have more drop areas and less coverage in the Spokane area.  Why is that?

    I have been a Verizon wireless customer for many years.  This last year or so I have found more and more light coverage areas and have had more dropped calls than in the previous five.  I have had to consider moving to another carrier.  Does anyone know of why Verizon coverage has become worse and are others experiencing the same thing?

        Thanks for filling us in on a few more details! There are definitely many factors that can contribute to changes in service. Builging materials, terrain, number of customers trying to use the phone nearby, even signal boosters can all have a different effect on your coverage in an area. The Network Extender http://vz.to/IHRT6h is intended to help with both voice and 3G data inside of a home and there is not a 4G LTE version (calls are not placed over LTE services in most cases).
    If the purchase of a Network Extender hasn't helped inside your home, we do need to take a few troubleshooting steps to see why. When you place a call, do you hear the short tones before the call connects indicating you're connected to the Network Extender? What type of home internet connection do you have? What model router is the extender connected through?

  • Clients roaming in and out of coverage area

    Hi,
    I am currently getting reports from my user base that they are having to re-authenticate every 5 min's. They claim this is happening when using our visitor network which is a webauth based setup with a 4 hour session time out. My thinking on this is that the user is roaming in and out of our coverage areas and thus having to reauthorise sooner than expected.
    2 questions on this...
    1. Does this sound like a likely explanation.
    2. Is there any setting I can change to increase the timeout length that will allow a user to wonder in and out of the coverage area before being required to re-authenticate?
    Kit list
    WCS 7.0.220.0
    WLC 4402, 4404, 5508, 2504
    Software versions 6.0.199.4 to 7.0.220.0
    AP's AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9
    Thanks
    Dylan

    Dylan,
    There are two timers especially if you use WebAuth.... The most important especially if the guest users are Apple devices, is the idle timer.  This should be set to 2-4 hours depending... I usually set this to 2 hours so guest can grab lunch and don't have to login.  The session timer is a hard timer and if you have that set to 4 hours, then every 4 hours they will have to login.  The idle timer has to be set lower than the session.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Extended Coverage Area for 4G

    I live in an area that has "extended" coverage for 4G.  On the coverage map I am the color in the middle - not 3G, but not full 4G.  What does that mean as far as getting consistent 4G coverage?  I am thinking about a mobile hotspot and wondered how it might work in my neighborhood.
    Thanks.

    I have the samsung hotspot.  I am in 4g extended coverage area and my device switches between 3g to 4g every 1-2 minutes, and never holds the 4g connection longer than 45 seconds.  My 4g signal strength fluctuates between 100-112.  When I have a solid 3g signal I am in the area of 90-100.  I have talked to verizon multiple times, this is my second samsung device, the first one they deemed as defective over the phone and sent me a replacement.  The replacement hotspot immediately did the same thing that the first one did to a tee.  I then spoke to verizon tier 2 tech support for almost 2 hours and they opened a "problem ticket", which I knew would result in nothing since I have experienced "problem tickets" through verizon in the past with no results.  So, now I'm stuck with a device for two years that wont hold a 3g connection for more than 2 minutes (kills internet connection when it switches to 4g, and vice versa when switching back to 4g.)  The real killer in my situation is that I just bought a iphone 4s through AT&T and get a steady 3g signal and can hit 3mb/sec download, and 2mb/sec upload, ping 110-150ms.  Destroys verizons speeds in my area.  With my verizon Samsung hotspot I have never seen download speeds faster than 1mb/sec, .50mb/sec upload, 200-400ms ping.  I wish verizon would do something about my problem, but I feel as though they are just going to sweep this issue under their massive rug.
    "Problem tickets" = No help

    No.
    You cannot add 3G to the device itself.
    You have a 14(?) day return period to swap it out.
    You can get a device called a mifi, it's available on several carriers.

  • What's the relation between Gain and transmitted power with coverage area?

    what's the relation between Gain and transmitted power with coverage area?
    if we want add coverage area, could we just add antenna's gain only or add transmitted power only?

  • Poor 3g reception issue does not come from being in a low coverage area.

    For All of you who keep saying that "If youre in a low coverage area the 3g service wont work you must turn off 3g". That is not a solution. Yes it fixes the problem of not being able to talk on the phone but that is just a workaround that in my opinion is not acceptable. The name of the phone is iPhone 3g. The entire reason for buying this phone is the 3g network. If thats not there and frankly who cares about the GPS as its pretty much useless, then we could have kept our old phones. There are numerous reports of people using their old devices with 3g side by side and getting great reception on their other handset. In my opinion there is a problem with this phone and it should probably be returned until apple figures out what they did wrong. Its not the 3g network and its not a lack of coverage as other handsets are getting great reception. ITS THE PHONE!!!

    I removed all of the interface methods and set those properties and it still
    didn't work.
    I also have a custom skin on this class. I removed that and tabbing started
    to work again.
    Is there any good advise on how to prevent my skin from having effect on the
    group within the container? I've seen a good bit about focus and skins, but
    nothing about skins on a container? all the skin has is replacements for the
    header bar and the close button.
    Thanks!

  • Does the network extender work in "extended coverage" areas?

    We are going to be at a cabin in a rural area that is in "extended 3G" / "extended digital coverage" according to the verizon coverage map (a few miles east of Arnold, CA).
    As the cabin has internet (we go there every summer), will the network extender work given that it's in an extended coverage area? I usually get 0 bars when I am at the cabin and it would be nice to be able to make/receive calls on the cell phone without having to drive into town several miles away.

        Hello norm_!
    I'd be happy to clarify the Network Extender functionality. I looked up your Arnold, CA location, and unfortunately, the network extender will not work in this area. I apologize for the inconvenence, and I do hope you have a wonderful trip!
    Thank you,
