Coverage limited after upgrading of Airport Utility software

I've recently upgraded my airport utility software to 7.41 and have been having problem since in accessing the net from my room and sitting hall (no signal) which i don't have any problem all these while. I've tried resetting the airport, re-installing the software but to no avail. It's also causing an interference to my satelite TV as well. would really appreciate if someone can hlp me out.

More than likely installing the firmware caused the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) to use the "Automatic" channel selection. Most people find that frequently this does not select the best channel. Change it from "Automatic" and try channels until you find one which works better.

Well, that was why I was puzzled in the first place, but Netflix couldn't find any flaws in their system (I tried the suggestions in the link Shawn Grinter 2 posted (thanks to you as well, Shawn)).
But today everything is perky and running smooth without me doing anything about it.
Stranger than fiction, but thanks again for taking time helping!

Only one variant of the PowerMac G4 could use the faster Airport Extreme Card. The rest used the original Airport card that is pretty slow.

There are USB solutions also. However, all PowerMac G4 towers had only slower USB 1.1 ports, so any USB wireless adaptor can only run at about wireless 'B" speeds (slow) unless you also install a PCI USB 2.0 adaptor card. Doing that would allow a USB wireless adaptor to run at its maximum rated speed. These items working together would accomplish that:

Problems after today's Airport Utility Update

After downloading today's airport utility software update, now my MacBook Pro, running Snow Leopard, is unable to find any wireless connections in my home. I have a Netgear Router and an Apple Express. Nothing shows up and the computer continues to search for networks.
Does this update have bugs in it?

After updating to Airport Utility 7.5.2 my MacBook Pro can see the Airport 801N Extreme and join the network OK.
But I have a DSL connection which I routinely turn off and on. To see if it is connected, I always have the 'Show time connected' turned on. It was working fine before the firmware update, resetting to 0:00:00 each time I disconnected.
Now the clock never resets to zero when I disconnect, and the time just resumes from the last reading when I reconnect, hour later.
A definite BUG. Please return my resetting 'time connected' clock.

I would take your machine into a Apple service center. Its highly likely a hardware issue. The most likely issue being the display has failed. If there is no external damage to the machines display they will replace the whole display under warranty for you.

What are you setting it up as.. join wireless network .. the very worst setup, it will disappear.. reboot the whole network in order modem. router TC.. clients and it will likely reappear.
Tell us what network setup you are using..
If you setup with cable to a computer completely isolated from the network with TC also isolated.. finish the setup of everything you want. .before update.. then plug it into the network. .then restart everything in correct order.. it will work most of the time.

I dont' believe there were manuals out there for different versions of the utility. That would be quite a few different manuals.

The airport utility software running on Windows7 is not able to find my airport extreme. Bute the wireless connection is working.

For your iCloud backup, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding. Lost my WEP password after upgrading my AIRPORT software

A year ago, I joined SBCGlobal.net
I have a faint memory of a password that I had to insert in order for my G4 to use the network from a remote location. I also have a faint memory that wherever I got the password, it did not work, and after calling SBCI, I was told to insert a $ sign in front of the password. That worked.
I just today upgraded to Airport 4.2. When I restarted, my network was still visible under the Airport icon on the desktop, but the computer did not connect. Manually clicking on the network (2Wire....) brought up the WEP dialogue page and asked for my password.
Is this something I had to create, or was it supplied by the SBC folks? If it's gone forever, can I fix the problem in some way?

Read the user manual for your 2Wire router - it will tell you what the default WEP key is for your router.

Upgrade to Airport Utility 6.2 problems

imac running 10.7.5.
network off comcast modem to airport extreme base station with 2 airport express as extenders.
controlled the expresses with airport utility 5.6. had airport 6.1 as well.
now ran the upgrade to 6.2 and can't control any of the airports.
all missing under 5.6.
open under 6.2 and see "previously part of your network" grayed out.
luckily have another mac where i can still control them
but what to do on this imac??
time machine won't overwrite with 6.1 in the backups.

be sure to hold dmg over the icon. after see it on desktop, rename it and drag to applications folder.
turn off then back on your wifi. then launch the 5.6 version, my expresses and extreme reappeared.

How do I upgrade to Airport Utility to v7.5.2

I don't know for a fact what it means or what it's for but, after some research, the general consensus has made it quite clear that I need to upgrade Airport Utility to v7.5.2.
The problem is that I can't seem to find it. This upgrade, apparently, was available well before Lion came out.
Currently, I has v6.0.
If there is a known issue with Airport that promted newer versions to be released, then why can I not update to the latest version available?
A direct reply would be nice. Simply send me a message though Apple Support, if possible, or [email protected], or simply reply on this forum and , I hope, I should get a notification.

After port forward, airport utility can no longer see my time capsule

I tried to forward public port 1025 to private port 80 on a raspberry pi using airport utility. But after I did that, the airport utility can no longer see my time capsule. Wifi still works correctly. Are there any conflicts about port 1025? How to fix that other than resetting the time capsule?

It doesn't sound like a port that is used.
From the standard google search.. nope.
Reboot the whole network..
No luck tell me what OS version you are running the utility on and what model and firmware TC???
Note with Yosemite, anything can and will happen.

Airport Express b/g no longer working after update to Airport Utility 5.3.1

after updating to this the other day, my AE b/g no longer works - like many others on the forum, i get the flashing amber / yellow blinkie light situation. i can hard reset it and get it to initially show up in AU 5.3.1, but once i try to join it to my wireless network (i use it with my laser printer) it never takes, disappears from AU, and sits there flashing relentlessly.
seems pretty clear that it's related to the 5.3.1 update - it was working fine for nearly 2 years without any issues prior to this. i find it hard to believe it had a total failure related to this - in fact, i just finally updated yesterday after being asked to for 2 weeks, and that's when it stopped working, no question about it.
any ideas on getting it to work? i've tried everything on these forums to no avail. or am i stuck waiting on AU 5.3.2?

I just solved the same issue. First I reset my whole network from scratch by hard resetting all devices (1 AEBS N and two AXg). Then I started configuring my main base station and added the other devices to the network one by one. (I have a WDS). Only after setting all the devices to channel 6, did the green light stay on.
Apparently when you configure a AX to participate in an existing WDS network and you enter the existing network name in the configuration panel of Airport Utility, it creates a separate network with the same name. In order to force it to join the existing network, make sure their Airport ID numbers are entered under the WDS tab in Airport as WDS remotes.

Airport Extreme base station not recognized anymore by Airport Utility software

I just encountered the problem today.
I have old Airport Extreme base sation (mushroom design).Picture below.
I have iMac 24". About this Mac Picture below.
Obviously, Airport Utility has been updated recently and today my network is not valid anymore, as well as the mushroom is not managed by Aiport Utility softwrare anymore. The only way to get WiFi now is using my computer as an antenna via the sharing of internet trough its WiFi card: not satisfactory.
The message of the software led directly to this support community.
The picture with the base station icon says: "this version of Airport Utility does not support this base station. To know more, check the Sevice and Support Community."
I did reset the base station may times, without success. I can't rename the base sattion, i can't create rename my network, i can't set up password access, i can't use WiFi other than the default Airport Extreme network.
Since this is not my field of knowledge, would anyone come up with a brilliant solution other than .... :
"Did Apple just manage to make you buy a new Airport base station ?."

I just downloaded the Aiport Utility 5.6.1 from Apple site. Unfortunately the OS X version is not compatible with this Airport Utility.
I don't have Time Machine neither.
Below is the message I got:
"Airport Utility cannot be installed on this hard drive. The Mac OS X version on this drive is not supported"
Is there something inbetween: a correction to Airport Utility 6.2 plug in that would accept my base station and compatible with my iMac ?.
