Coverflow blocks video podcast viewing

In iTunes 6, I would watch a video podcast like DL.TV, by double clicking it in the playlist. If I wanted full screen, I would double click the tiny video window. That changed in iTunes7, now when I double click the video, I get an overlay pop-up window of the video, what happened to my full screen functionality? Oh OK, so Apple wants me to use Ctrl-F to get a full screen video. Fine and dandy, I can learn new tricks. Now, in iTunes 7.1, instead of giving me fullscreen video, it gives me full screen coverflow, when I really just wanted to watch a video podcast. So I hit Ctrl-F a second time and get the full screen video. Then I have to hit Esc key once to go back to cover flow, and again to get back to my playlist. Why is this getting harder and harder? Where's the option to disable fullscreen coverflow?

  • Can't play video podcasts in the album view box in iTunes 8

I can't figure out how play video podcasts in the album view box (bottom left hand side) in the new iTunes 8. I could do it before w/7 but I don't remember what option I had checked off.
    Thanks in advance

Let me know what you find out. I bought the new 80Gb ipod and I am having the same problem on long podcasts. It just reboots.

  • Running itunes 10.6.1.7. did reorg of lib to new struct. reorg left all video podcasts in old folder. I cannot view video podcasts itunes or download. help please.

I just installed itunes 10.6.1.7. on a new PC connected an external hard drive containing my itunes library and pointed to my library on an external hard drive.
I also did reorganization of my library structure via "organize library" menu option. The reorg left all video podcasts in the old podcast folder and will not let me copy them to the new podcast folder.
From the itunes store I cannot select a new video podcast and download and view it in itunes. The podcast will show up but the file or episode has a "GET" button next to it and never shows it as available to view in itunes. I have attempted to download many time with no success.
I have podcasts that are all video podcasts and some that are mixed audio podcasts and video podcasts. in both cases the video podcasts remained in the original folder location.
The video podcasts are not in movies or in tv shows. All music is present and accounted for that I know.
How can I restore all video podcasts previously downloaded and view them on itunes or an ipod?
Can I create a video podcast option in itunes?
    Please help.

Issue solved - It turns out that the QuickTime version on my PC was 6.5 and I needed to update to version 7.6 or higher to allow videos to play in iTunes. I updated to QuickTime version 7.7 and then added the old podcast folder to iTunes while in podcasts. This found all video podcast content and then the auto reorg moved all folders to the new podcast directory. For the videos I manually moved earlier, I had to move (not copy) them back to the old directory or folder then add that old folder and they were now in the right directory and viewable in iTunes.

  • Coverflow for video and podcasts

Has it been discussed about implementing coverflow for video and podcasts?
This would make it so much easier to navigate and also help organize the files on the itouch and iphone.
How serious is apple about implementing these, Im dying to get this for simple navigation and organizing needs.

while deleting a thumbnail/icon (by hand or with cocothumbx) might be a quick solution for photos, i expect coverflow to handle this correctly for me. when dealing with thousands of photographs, automatic export from aperture, batch processing in photoshop/bridge etc, i shouldn't have to deal with thumbnails, should i?
coverflow simply isn't where it should be. i also find it strange that quicklook and coverflow seam to use different algorithms to render files. try an adobe illustrator file for example. the finder doesn't show the content as icon (in a folder), coverflow renders the content/artboard correctly, quicklook only displays the oversized icon. what the...?

  • Ok, so I have a PC and recently downloaded the newest version of iTunes. Somehow I canno't find my video Podcasts anywhere except for the recently played videos. Where can I first of all find them and secondly view them like in a list or gallery?

Now I only get one HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\

note carefully that the technique involves a registry edit. be sure to make a backup of any keys you edit. if you're unfamiliar with your registry or registry editing, head to your XP help and support, do a search on registry, and read through the articles that come up.
There are also some instructions on how to back up registry keys in the following document:

  • Coverflow artwork for video podcasts

How do you set the artwork for a video podcast so it will show within the itunes library? I'm not talking about the end user setting the artwork but the podcast creator. Seems that itunes uses the first frame of video as a default but I have seen other video podcasts have a specific picture, not the first frame of video, as their artwork. Example, subscribe to Creative Cows Final Cut Pro Podcast and there is a picture in your podcast library.
    Here is my xml file
    http://www.ci.lakeville.mn.us/podcasts/meetings/podcast.xml
I use Lemonz Dream's "Podcast Maker" to create the xml files.

No bites on this one yet? . . . Okay, I'll have a go.
So what you want to do is set the artwork for your podcast . . . Fairly easily done, but you first need to understand something about artwork for your podcast FILE versus artwork for your feed XML. (They are two completely separate things!) In the case of what you want, your XML code (and the artwork linked therein) doesn't matter because it doesn't affect the podcast file once it has been put into a podcatcher of some sort (e.g. iTunes). The artwork from your XML is only really of use to the iTMS and sundry web readers. So, have no worries about what method/program you are using to create your code or the validity of your file.
To set/change an individual episode's artwork you actually have to edit the .mov (or whatever) file. Hold on - that's not as scary as it may sound. First, do you already have the artwork that you want to use? Or do you want to capture a "good" frame from your video and use that? If you already have artwork, awesome. If you want to use a certain frame from your video, all that you need to do is play your video and freeze it on the desired frame and take a screen capture. (To take a screen cap, use Print Screen or Alt+Print Screen on a PC; or Command-Shift-3 or Command-Shift-4 on a Mac -- crop it if needed, and save the file as a jpeg/gif.)
After you have your desired artwork lined up, all you need to do is open your .mov in iTunes. Right- or Ctrl-click on the file, and select the option "Get Info." A window should come up - the last tab will say "artwork." Select the artwork tab, select and delete the pre-fab iTunes issue artwork, and then click "add." This will allow you to select the file of your desired artwork. After you've added the artwork, click "okay." Your file has been successfully modified, and is now ready to be uploaded!
And ta-da, when someone downloads your podcast file, the artwork will show up when they play the file (or in coverflow). Why? Because the artwork is now part your video file, and it is included in the download of your podcast.
More info, and possibly less confusion, about what is going on with this topic can be found here. (When you're reading it, just replace "MP3" with "MOV" in your head.)

  • I cannot find or view video podcasts on my iPhone 4 after dragging them to iPhone in iTunes

From iTunes ona PC, I drug two video podcasts to my iPhone in the sidebar. They show up inder Podcasts. Going to my iPhone, I do not see them anywhere. On my iPad, I believe they would be viewed under Movies. But I don't see the Movies app on my iPhone. They did not appear in any app that I have on my iPhone.
Do I have to add an app that did not come with the iPhone? Which one would be the best?
    TIA

    Thank you Allan & trrlightning,
I did not think of trying the iPod App. I do not have an iPod. But sure enough, once I sync'd to my PC, there were the video podcasts under iPod.
    Thanks again.

  • Issues with Downloading/Viewing video podcasts from NBC News

I am currently experiencing a problem with downloading video podcasts from NBC News. On my iPad 3, white iPhone 4 from Verizon, 3rd generation Apple TV and my mid-2012 15-inch MacBook Pro, it takes forever to download any kind of video podcast from NBC News. For example, on my iPad 3, it has taken over 35 minutes to download 7 MB out of 131 MB of video. The same thing happens on my iPhone and MacBook Pro. This has been going on for about a week now. Audio Podcasts from NBC News are fine. Other video podcasts play instantly.
Trying to play an NBC News video directly in iTunes on the Mac, or in the iOS podcast app, or trying to play it on my Apple TV is no better - the video is extremely slow to load with lots of stops and goes.
The problem also extends to NBC's iOS apps. Videos continuously try to load and do not play in the NBC Nightly News app for iPad for example. And, videos take forever to load at nbcnews.com, nbcnightlynews.com on my Mac.
I feel like there is something wrong with NBC's content. Has anyone been experiencing this same problem? I have not rebooted my wireless router or modem, I do not think that would do any good. Rebooting my devices do not make a difference.

  • Viewing video podcasts from podcast list without video please

With previous versions of the iPhone software I could listen to a video podcast without the video playing, by selecting the podcast from the podcast menu. Now when I do that, the video plays where the podcast art used to display. This *****, especially when I am driving or jogging and want to conserve battery life by keeping the screen off. If anyone has found a way to revert to this behavior let me know and if there isn't a way, this is a formal request to provide a switch for this under settings allow for this.

  • Video podcasts on Touch w/3.0- landscape view?

I love the new features for listening to podcasts w/OS 3.0, but i find that i am unable to get the "controls" off the screen when I'm watching a video podcast. I rotate my touch horizontally but nothing changes, and i also cant seem to get the status bar up top or the arrows below off the screen. It looks like it's just not distinguishing between a video and an audio podcast, since i can watch regular videos no problem.
Anyone else experiencing this/ any ideas?
    thank you
    Michael

You need to learn some iPod basics on troubleshooting. This will get you familiar with what I am going to suggest you do: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/
Good news is, mine did the same thing after I updated. You need to reset you iPod. That simple thing will fix what you are seeing 99% of the time.
Taping the screen will add or remove the controls but they will also vanish on their own. This should also be fixed after you reset.

  • Moving Keynote Presentation to a Video Podcast

I have a Keynote presentation that I would like to record with narration, manually advance slides in sync with the narration, then move the combined narrated Keynote to a video podcast where viewer can see the slides and hear the narration.
Have tried moving it to GarageBand but it seems to throw up on the audio, won't take it in either the 'copy audio' or 'mix audio' options.
iMovie seems a logical choice but text on the slides (which look great in Keynote) all look out of focus in iMovie, either the new one or iMovieHD. Some fonts help this situation but none look anywhere as clear as the original Keynote. Went to One on Ones and no help there.
This does not seem like an off the wall application of Keynote to me but a logical extension for 'distance learning'. Has anyone done this successfully with text /photo slides with narration? how about slides with video clips as well?

  • How to delete video podcast without using iTunes

My Mac is G5 PPC, OSX 10.4.11, so cannot use
iTunes to sync Ipad; so is there a way of deleting downloaded video podcasts from the iPad?
When headphone is connected to the iPad, should the internal speaker not be automatically disconnected like on the iPod?

    makam wrote:
Appreciate suggestion, but does not work. Maintaining touch on the title, highlight the video, no delete check mark appears; letting go start the video playing again.
Kappy's suggestion doesn't work for me either. Just go into the iPod App, click on Podcasts, and swipe to the right. You should get a "Delete" block on the right. That's how it works on my iPad.

  • Need an option to filter video podcasts out in the regular podcasts menu

The problem is that when you have a lot of podcasts, both video and audio, it is easy to focus in on only the video podcasts but when you are viewing the regular podcasts menu it shows both video and audio only podcasts. I find that I am spending a lot of time trying to remember which ones are audio only when scrolling through my list because I don' t want to listen to only the audio of a video podcast and have it marked as listened to already. Some video and audio version have similar names but different content, such as the NYTimes David Pogue tech reviewer has both an audio and a video podcast and they ARE different content. I'm sure that I am not the only one who has wished there was a way to separate the audio only podcasts from the video ones in the podcast menu.
My proposal...that as many people as possible submit a feature request to Apple to add an option in the iPod settings menu to show only audio podcasts in the podcasts menu. Yes, smart playlists could be set up (and I tried it for a while) but then you loose the blue dot that reminds me of which episode I am on so I wasn't happy with that approach. • The "converted by iTunes" Video Podcasts not appearing on the iPod

    Greetings,
I have downloaded some (old) video podcasts from the Music Store. As they were old files; I realised that they were not suitable for the iPod 5G, while trying to sync to the iPod. Then I converted them by using iTunes itself via 'convert selection for iPod' function.
Then, as it's a known case, an error message appeared on iTunes that not all the files were transferred to iPod, blah blah. (Because the unsuitable files will also remain on the iTunes, as well as the converted ones.)
So to get rid of that error message, I have chosen to delete those old and unsuitable files which I would not need anymore.
When I update my iPod, everything seems to be ok, no more warnings on the screen, etc - but the problem is that those converted 'suitable' files do not appear neither on the Video Podcasts folder, nor in another video folder on the iPod. But they are on the iTunes, within the right folder (videos -> podcasts), together with a newly published Video Podcast of the same series - which is the only one appearing on the iPod.
Is the only chance to view them changing their folders from 'podcasts' to e.g. 'movies' folder? Or is it just another bug of iPod G5 which really starts to disappoint me these days?
Does anybody experience a situation like this?
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    »iMac G5|rev.B 2.0ghz 1.5gb-ram   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   »iPod shuffle|512mb »The iPod|5G 60gb software1.1(regret)

Reconverting the files normaly changes the original podcast meta-data. Download and use a meta-data modifier utility (like Lostify) to reinsert the proper tags.
