Coverting to mp3
Whenever I try to convert songs I bought on iTunes to MP3, it says the song "could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats". How can I fix that?
If you purchase the iTunes Plus files from EMI, these can be converted to mp3. If the files you have purchased are the DRM protected files, what you can do with you purchase is burn them to an audio CD.

I have just purchased an album from i-tunes and two tracks won't covert to mp3s I'm using Lion and the latest i-tunes. never had this problem before, the tracks start but stop with an error -3 whatever that is. also thought about downloading again but they don't appear in the i-cloud, whereas previous purchases do? any ideas gratefully received
I've had this same problem recently with my itunes purchases. The only solution that I've found is to go back into itunes, select the file that I purchased previously and reaquire it to try converting the new file.

itunes use to ask me when importing files if I wanted them automaticaly converted to mp3 files. Now it just imports them and I have to convert them later. Also
when I ask for album art work it now constantly asks me to sign in. It use to know who I was without me signing in every time.In iTunes, select File/Preferences/General>When you insert a CD:> and set the option you prefer. I think these options have changed with recent iTunes updates, so your choices will depend on which version of iTunes you use.

I have purchased some children's videos on iTunes. Is there a way to convert them to a MP3 so I can make a DVD to play in my cars DVD video system?
yes- I think so. Let me clarify-you have purchased some children's videos on iTunes and you want to make a dvd to play in your car's dvd video system, correct? If you go for mp3, it'll be audio only. If you want to make a dvd, it'd be mpeg-2, I think. In which case, maybe Handbrake. I don't know what else to use to join all the videos together other than iMovie, but there may be something else out there. This is just a guess, btw
You may try putting the videos into a folder and right clicking and choose burn to DVD, but whether or not that'll work in your car's dvd system is moot. I'd say probably not. you might be able to use "Burn" to convert 'em all to a video dvd.
Of oourse, if you have an ipod or something similar, and your car's dvd video system has some auxiliary jacks, maybe you could use those?

I'm getting semi-close to filling up my zen sleek (only a few more gbs left on it), so I'm going to convert ALL my music to wmas, I think. Creative audio converter works good/fast for me, so I'm going to use that. Now, on the "Set Destination Format" options, under WMA, what should I choose? Should I leave it at 28 kbps? I just want to make sure I keep the quality good and make the size smaller. Thanks.
Number - Coverting MP3 files to WMA files will result in files that sound much worse that if you had created the WMA files directly from the CDs. Far better to re-rip than convert.
Number 2 - Coverting from MP3-28 to WMA28 will result in files that are exactly the same size, which sound worse because of the recompression.
If you really want to do this, we need to know the bitrate of your MP3 files. If you are starting with 28kbps MP3, then I would just leave them alone. The quality loss to go to a lower bitrate WMA will be huge.
If you are starting with 320kbps MP3 files, then you can save lots of space going to 28kbps WMA files. You will give up a bit of sound quality, but it could be acceptable. You would need to test it out to see what you think.
I would NEVER go below 28kbps WMA.... -
GB3 SAYS CANNOT IMPORT THIS FILE TYPE - MP3
I have long lecture (4 hours) that I'm trying to cut into a podcast. I was given WMV files which I coverted to MP3 with EASY WMA. Now when I try and import these files into GB3, I get an error saying it can't import this file type. What am I doing wrong? Is the file too big? Do I need to be using AIFF? Help please!!!

How to Exporting MP3's for Transcription?
How do I export audio from a video file (Dvc Pro HD 59.94fps) to an Mp3 in such a way that the time-code matches the original video file?
I have been asked to create MP3's to be sent out for transcription. It is easy enough to send the video to compressor and covert to MP3 but the time-code on the Mp3 doesn't match Is it even possible to make the time-code match so that when the transcriber is done there will be a time-coded transcript?
I am running Final Cut Studio 2Even if you export to aiff, I don't believe the format supports a timestamp. You'll probably have to create an audio-only quicktime file, which actually will allow you to use mp3 compression on the audio if you want, or a WAV file, which supports a timestamp. Wave export is available with a quicktime conversion export from FCP
Also consider that it's easy to make your sequence start at 00:00:00:00 to make it match the mp3, if that works for your workflow, thought there might be other reasons not to do this.

Imported audio: sounds like cartoon mice 48KHz vs. 44.1 KHz vs. .mp3
Does anyone know if the following can be fixed:
I inserted some new slides and imported new .mp3 audio clips into CP4. When played slide by slide the audio sounds as I would expect. When published, however, the audio on the new slides play at about double speed to the others. The v/o artiste now sounds like a cartoon mouse.
So what's different?
I used a different recorder. I recorded at 48KHz and rendered at the same (in Reaper), before converting to .mp3. Yes, I know I should have used 44.1 but the file was going to be converted outside of Captivate in any case to .mp3 (and I forgot).
In the audio Manager I can see that the 'old' files that play OK were imported as .wav. Captivate can convert these. The .mp3 files appear as 48KHz sample rate, even though I coverted to .mp3.
I have a feeling I may need to re-record the clips to 44.1. Or is there are a way of converting 48KHz files to sound OK at 44.1 KHz? Any ideas?Hi,
I am not sure if yo are experiencing this issue in Adobe Captivate 5 version or older.
If you see this issue in Captivate 5, then this issue is handled in an upgrade patch available -

JMF can not play some MP3 files on the web
I try to write the application using JMF with MP3 plug-in. The application will search the word in Google dictionary
and play the MP3 sounf online.
The almost word is playing good with the MP3PLAYER, but some is always no sound.
And Itry to add ControllerListener for this, and every word got the realizeComplete and endOfMedia event.
but I just can not here the sound for some word.

Covert from MP3 to and WAV take too much time. I never said to do that as a solution, I told you to do that "to test that" the problem is that you're trying to play unsupported MP3s. Please do listen when people are trying to help you out.

Movies are on Itunes but don't show on my Ipod

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... I have a few mp4 movies and they are showing up on my Itunes and it says they sync with my Ipod, but then when I look at my Ipod there are no movies, videos or anything under there...
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be going wrong?

I've got mp4 movies, and they're in iTunes, but not showing up on my iPod.
Because I made them in iMovie'08, I've encoded them as both Medium & Large files.
It looks as if the large (high quality) version has been entered into iTunes, not the iPod compatible one.
Go to your 'Library', then down to 'Movies'.
Highlight the movie you want to have in your iPod, now go to the 'Advanced' selection on the top bar.
Whoa! The 3rd one down said 'Convert to iPod/' but now it's a gray area that I can't click on, and it says 'Covert to mp3'
But as I look down to where my playlists, there's a selection that's showing 'Converting.'
I wait with baited breath.

hello...first post. I just bought the micro photo on ebay. Looks cool, much heavier than my previous, but my first impression isn't great. I had the IAUDIO U2 and loved it! It was lost and while looking on ebay I got a deal for 00 bucks for the micro and thought the 8gb would be good. I wanted to try putting my songs on without coverting to mp3 to see if the sound was better. I downloaded my songs from cd converting to mp3 320. The iaudio has awsome sound! I don't care about bringing 4000 songs with me. gb was fine. I had 0-5 cd's of different variety and every few days would change them around. (with ease) I thought I could download the same amount of songs, leaving them in wav format, with the 8 gigs. First thing out I see no line in, and no thing to attach a neck strap? I don't always have a pocket. I was forced to get a case, which makes it bulkier (hate that) I bought the belkin sports case (pricy) and the plastic front makes it nearly impossible to take in and out. The player sticks to it, and the screen looks like crap. This is all before hearing the player, which is my main priority. My computer crashed and I'm waiting for my new one, so I can't put the software on yet. I listened to the preinstalled songs and it sounds alright I guess.... I need to hear my music to know for sure. I have, in my opinion, the best headphones....and I tried many! (future sonics em3) So... I'm feeling right now like I might sell on ebay and buy the Iaudio again....any thoughts?

My nano is not turning on it, it just show creative when you turn it on, and it's not being reconized on the creative media. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?

Converting recorded WAV files in Advanced

When I record my vinyl onto my laptop I record them as WAV files. When I want to convert them I simply go to 'Advanced' & convert them to MP3's...Very easy.
How ever, when I use my brothers laptop to do exactly the same process it only gives the option to convert them to AAC versions! They take much much longer & it simply does not give me the option the covert to MP3!
We both have exactly the same operating system (10.4.11) & iTunes (8.0.2)
Any ideas?When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. If you are using iTunes 8 go to Edit>Preferences>General and click on Import Settings, change your option to MP3. Go back to your library and highlight the songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu at the top of your iTunes window and choose "Create MP3 version:

Trouble playing m4a files in N70
Hi! Using PC Suite 6.81.13.0 I have coverted some mp3 files to m4a and uploaded them to the N70 phone. The copies that remained in my PC disk play well in the Nokia Music Manager PC application. But in the phone, the music plays too fast, like a vinil record in wrong speed. Is there a solution for this behavior? Thanks in advance! Fernando
