CP-7925G

Someone can tell me if does the 7925G IP phone is supported by the UC540?
if it is so, the second question would be what kind of license do I need or what would be the part number as I apply the 7925G phone?
I welcome your comments.
Thank you.

It is supported. No license is needed.

I have been tasked with testing text messaging on the 7925g model phones and have been unsuccessful. This is a hospital environment, and will also need to able to handle nurse call notifications. Eventually

You will need to integrate to some 3rd party application as this is not natively supported by Cisco, there are many different ones out there.

    HI
I have the follownig setup: WLC and 7925G and want to lunch QoS I have 2 problems:

    802.1p Tag   5
by default there is Tag 5 but I see in the cisco doc I should setup 6 ? . ( 6 was before in old software but generally it was 5 at the end ) how is looking now in this software version ? I am really confuse now

Don't worry.  If your WLC is running 7.6 (and later) the 802.1p tag default value is "5".  The documentation hasn't been updated since then.
    2. We are using WPA-2 with AES for the 7925G and firmware CP7925G-1.4.6.3.LOADS
Is CCKM enabled?   You're using a good firmware for the handset.  Highly Recommended version.  :)

  • CP-7925G keeps rebooting

    Hello everyone.
We have a CP-7925G that has a problem of "infinite loop". When I turn it on, it keeps "resetting forever". Is there a procedure that can be done?
    Thanks in advance.

If you can confirm that the phone has an IP Address, then yes. Likely a phone or TFTP issue. Otherwise, if the phone does not even get an IP Address it would be a DHCP problem.
I won't be a "network problem" because the the handset haven't even finish booting up.  It's a hardware issue.

  • Configuring WL profile on 7925g phone

I am using template (which I just created) to configure wireless profile on 7925g phones. This template is saved on network share so all the techs can access it.   Here is what I do now to configure WL on a 7925 phone---
-using usb cable, I plug-in the phone in my laptop
    -go to web interface
    -go to BackUp Settings
-type the encryption Key (in Backup settings menu)
-import template from network to my phone
    -phone reboots
BUT, wireless connection on the phone doesn't work until I go back to web interface and re type the Pre-Shared Key again. Is there anyway to save this key in my template so I don't have to do this step over and over agin? Thanks

wireless connection on the phone doesn't work until I go back to web interface and re type the Pre-Shared Key again.
Hmmmmm ... Maybe something wrong with the firmware the phone is using?  While you have the phone connected via USB cable, could you upgrade to, say 1.4(3) and later?

  • 7925G - Can it respond to SIP Invite values?

We are working on an integration with a third party vendor for a nurse call system. We have 600 or so 7925G phones, obviously running SCCP.
I know the phones can respond to ring tone selection via XML controls being sent directly to the phone.
The vendor's system is connected via a SIP trunk, and two-way audio works as it needs to.
Question is - the vendor can specify a ringtone file in their SIP Invite. Does SCCP even have an awareness of that information coming through, and if so, does it have an ability to act on it? I suspect know, but this is so arcane I'm not searching right to find out for sure thus far.

The 7921 and 7925 are SCCP only.  No SIP support on them.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/phones/ps379/ps9900/data_sheet_c78-504890.html
The phone will be able to comunicated with a SIP leg as long as MTP its between.
Now regarding the "ring tone", I am guessing your 3 party set it in a SDP field, (in order to point out an specific ring tone).
I am afraid the Phone its unable to see this field and act (play a differnt ring tone) base on this.
    Please Kudos/rate if this help!

  • 7925g plus EAP-TLS plus wildcard cert

    Hi folks,
Has anyone managed to put a wildcard cert on a 7925G (or 9971) to use for client authentication with EAP-TLS?  It seems like one is forced to use the MIC or a cert from a csr generated by the phone... but I'd really rather not keep track of a zillion certs.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
have you read the infos from the deployment guide (page 72 - install certificates) already

  • 7925G configuration

    Hi,
I need guidance on configuring 7925G.  The WLAN in the WLC has been configured for 802.1x authentication.  I am not sure if EAP-TLS or PEAP will be used.  If EAP-TLS will be used, a certificate must be installed in the 7925G?  If PEAP will be used, a certificate is not required in the 7925G?
    Please advise.
    Regards,

Depends on the Security Mode configured on the 7925 phone.
If you want to use PEAP, then select PEAP. The server side cert can be uploaded optionally via the 792x phone webpage where server validation can then be enabled.
If you want to use EAP-TLS, then select EAP-TLS.
Can use a custom / user-installed cert or the MIC for the client cert.
The server side cert must also be uploaded via the 792x phone webpage.
See the 7925 Deployment Guide for more info.

  • Cisco CME / 7925G: Leading zero stripped in Placed Calls list

    Hi,
we are using a "0" as a prefix to dialout to the PSTN (ISDN PRI) on our CME router (2921).
The leading 0 will be stripped off  on the dial peer via a voice translation rule:
    voice translation-rule 11
     rule 1 /^00\(.*\)/ /0\1/
    voice translation-profile OUTGOING_TRANSLATION
     translate called 11
Problem: When we dial an external number (including the leading 0) on the 7925G phone, it stores this dialed number
without the leading 0 in the "placed calls" list.
When you want to pick up and call a number later from that list, it won´t work, because the leading 0 is missing.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Many thanks
    Heinz

Hi Heinz,I don't know if this kind of manipulation is available in CME or not however as per your comments, you can give a try to following. As you are stripping leading '0' at dial-peer level, now while dialing the number from logs, you can again prefix '0' at ephone-dn level at incoming call leg. Use following translation rule in one of the phone and see if it works for you. This rule will work completely depends on number patterns dialed by your users. While dialing the number initially by prefixing '00', if there is a possibility to dial third digit as '0', this rule won't work.
rule 1 /^0\([^0]\)\(.*\)/ /00\1\2/Now if you initially dial 009925801882, you are stripping initial '0'. This won't match the number at ephone-dn level and only match at dial-peer level. In logs, you are seeing 09925801882. Now when you dial this number from logs viz 09925801882, translation profile at ephone-dn level will change it to 009925801882 and will again strip '0' at dial-peer level. ThanksVivek

  • 7925g, UC560, and 2504 poor roaming

    Hello All,
I've been searching the forums and product data sheets, release notes etc... but I can't seam to work out what is the current definative documetns I should be reading to
    - A setup the WLC to ensure I have the correct requirements for the 7925g handsets
I have read documents on 7925gs needs and have 20% overlap of signal strength etc..  I have walked the site with 3 handsets on site survey mode and at any time the all have about -58 to -67 from multiple AP's.  Tried A freq and similar results of call audio loss.
I have read documents re various WLC's 5508 4400 2100 etc.. regarding QOS, WPA and roaming, but I still get an issue of rubbish roaming with about 3sec audio cutoff of voice between AP's and then call returns.
    A little about the site:
    - 17 1142 AP's
    - 2504 WLC                     running 7.4.100.0
    - 13 7925g handsets          running 1.4.4.3
    - 10 7600 series wired handsets (which work without fault)
    - 1 x UC560                 running 8.6
No radius server.  I even set the SSID to no security in an attempt to verify raoming, but appears this makes no difference.
Ive setup the 2100's and never had a problem.
Any pointers or documents I should be reading or a deffinative "set to this config" would be appreciated.
    David

    Hi,
Disable the DHCP Address Assignment Required Option in WLC, beacause it is not good to use with non-windows clients, which don't do DHCP renew until lease time expires.
Cisco 7921 or 7925 phones might have voice problems while they roam if this option is enabled, as the controller does not allow voice or signaling traffic to pass until the DHCP phase is completed

  • 7925G vs IBM laptop - RSSI and SNR vastly differ - Same AP, Same Location?

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to troublshoot an issue.
I have an IBM notbook attached to a 1242AG AP on WLC1.
I have a Cisco 7925G phone connected to the same AP. Both devices are next to each other.
Both connected to different WLANs, Data and voice respectivley.
    Data runs G only.
    Voice runs A only.
No rates below 12Mbps are enabled.
Is it normal to see the phone with a much worse RSSI and SNR than the data device because of the high freq?
    Example,
    Data laptop.
    RSSI -35
    SNR 63
    (thus noise is -98)
    Voice phone.
    RSSI -75
    SNR 18
    (thus noise is -93)
I can see from this, that the noise is OK, but RSSI is the problem.
Also, can anyone tell me how often when you do a show client detail <mac>, these values update? Is it every 5 minutes? Is it configurable?
    Many thx indeed,
    Ken

Given that the phone is on 802.11a, the results you show are not unexpected. 802.11a does not propagate as far as 802.11g (assuming the same EIRP and radiation pattern for both radios at the AP). What other AP's do you have using 802.11a on the same channel? That could also be part of your noise problem.
Are you getting RSSI values from the CLI, or from the devices? There is no standard for calculating RSSI, so comparing the RSSI reported by different devices is not apples-to-apples. Comparing it at the controller might be OK, but I don't know if the controller is reporting an RSSI that it calculates, or if it simply displays what it is receiving from the devices. I believe the controller is simply displaying what RSSI value the ap receives from the devices, so using "show client detail" from the CLI would also not be apples-to-apples when comparing two different devices.
Also - the laptop probably has a better antenna (probably actually two antennas in the display panel) than the 7925 has.

  • Enabling Fast (802.11r) on 7925G 1.4.5.3

My phones were unable to connect when I enabled FT PSK.  Is there a way for this setting to work with 7925g?
    Thank you

The Cisco phones are very finicky and adding features that's not in the 792x deployment guide can and will cause issues. You really don't need that enabled. Your better of doing Local EAP on the WLC and creating a generic username and password for the phones and use CCKM.

  • 7925g - roaming issue using a band only

We have a small deployment of 7921g and 7925g phones. The 7925g phones while stationary when set to use the a band roam (while idle or in call) to distant APs with much weaker signal strength. That of course impacts negatively the quality of the call. The 7921 phones do not exhibit this behavior.
    Additional data:
    Access points and coverage:
Meraki MR14 & MR24 set to select their own channels (channel spreading) and auto reduce power according to the RF environment to avoid co-channel interference. Currently the APs transmit on channels 1, 6, 11 and 36, 44, 149 and 157.
Coverage has sufficient overlap for seamless roaming but it is really irrelevant in this case since the 7925 phones roam while stationary.
    Phone firmware:
    Initially 1.4.2 now the 7925s run 1.4.2ES.1
The phones have been configured to continuously update the AP list (CUCM setting) and channels on which the APs do not transmit have been excluded (through the web interface of the phones)
    SR 618866317

Since you are seeing unexpected roaming and you believe that  is the reason for the choppy audio, we need to gather phone logs as well  as correlated WLAN sniffer traces.
The phone should have Kernel, WLAN Driver, WLAN manager set to DEBUG level.
You can increae the # of files and file size to 10 /250 kb or enable syslog via USB.
Be  aware that with this increased logging, audio quality can be impacted,  but since we are troubleshooting unexpected roaming it should be ok.
Just want to be sure you don't enable this debug level on many phones / production user phones, where we make things worse.
Once you get the logs, attach them to the case by replying to your SR thread with [email protected] copied.
For the comment about 7921 and 7925 RSSI, they are different chipsets (although same vendor) and different antenna type.
So will not be 1 to 1 exactly.
Will need to ensure that the 7925 downstream RSSI is -67 dBm or better as well as the upstream signal (from 7925 to the AP).
But since the issues don't seem signal related, let's not focus here, but instead focus on the unexpected roams.
So yes we need all 3 modules enabled at DEBUG level as mentioned above.
Get that info and attach it to the SR and let your assigned TAC engineer know.
I already reached out to the TAC engineer assigned to your case.

  • 7925g have a wireless connection problems

    Hi Everyone,
I have a serious problem about 7925G connection via wireless with 1532 outdoor access point. We are using 802.11a for voice connection. While 7925 phones roams to outdoor access point, They cannot even see the SSID. After we checked configuration wireless LAN controller and 1532 model Access point, we  saw that, their channel rate is between 100 and 160. We cannot set it to lower value and 7925G model phones can not connect these access points.
What you suggest about this situation?

What IP address does your computer get in system preferences/network? If it is anything other than 10.0.1.x, then it sounds like you set your cables up incorrectly or are joining a different network than your own.
Check the AirPort Menu bar icon at the top of your screen to verify you haven't joined a neighbor's wirelss network. Also,
check to make sure your ISP's ethernet connection is into the WAN port of the base station with the circle symbol, and not the LAN port with the <-> symbol.
