CP1525nw wifi setup using a verizon jetpack

Hi,  We wanted to share our story since google has this forum listed as the top results for the problem we had, but we couldn't find an answer in the forums.  We solved it finally on our own as I was writing this post.
We have been trying to hookup the CP1525nw printer to our verizon jetpack (the only internet provider we can get at our house) so that we can print using wifi with our ipad, we changed the ink and for some reason lost our ability to print.
It appeared that the only way to choose the ssid and input the password is by hooking up the printer via an ethernet cable to a network and going to the printer's webserver page.
Are there other ways? We are on a mac (and have windows as well) .   Tried the HP toolkit and it appears that it only gives status.
I know there is another post in this forum, but I couldnt tell who the moderators were responding to in their directions, so it appeared confusing.
------SOLVED-----
We solved this problem by redownloading the setup utitlity and going through the setup via a usb cable.  That setup utilitiy will scan for networks and let you put in your new password.
best of luck out there
Jason

Hello rnbarg,
You can simply connect your printer to the router by running the wireless setup wizard from the setup menu in the front panel of the printer. Be sure to enable ePrint from the front panel of the printer once you are connected.
The iPad, iPhone, or iPod needs to be on the network and it should be able to see the networked printer. That's it! You should be ready to print.
A few things you need to be sure of is that you need to have a router with bonjour, multicast, or MDNS on it and your iOS must be 4.2 or later on the device.
You can use this link if you have any issues getting it set up.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
If I have resolved your issue, feel free to provide Kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided.

I know a normal wireless router would allow me to connect my printer to my desktop and tablet but will using my Verizon Jetpack® 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MHS291L as a access point incur data usage each month?

Hello Heath76, you pose an excellent question! Yes, if the Jetpack is used as an access point for any of the devices listed it will incur data usage.

  • Can I use a Verizon Jetpack 890L as Wifi for Airplay?

I am buying an iPad with Retina Display, and Best Buy is having a special that if you buy a Jetpack 890L with the iPad, you save $100 off the ipad (really on $30 because of the price of the Jetpack).  So I want to know if I can Airplay from my iPad, Macbook Pro, or iMac to my Apple TV with the Jetpack.  Thanks.

    This works for me!
I just bought a Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack, and after connetcing my airport express and my laptop to the Jetpack, I am able to use use the internet and airplay music streaming.
I was certain that this would not work. But it does. Whodathunk?

  • How do you set up for AirPrint an HP110A wireless printer without a PC on a wifi network using a Verizon FIOS router)

Purchasing an HP110A wireless printer for my 85 year old father who has and Ipad
This pritner is fully compatible with Airplay per HP site
    My dad has no PC
    He knows the router passcode.
    What is the process?
Will the HP printer to be purchased shortly work out of the box w/no drivers
How do you set the printer up to work on the iPad?

    Richard-
I have the HP D110 AirPrint printer.  As I recall, it was configured in Ad Hoc network mode when first received.  It was necessary to set it up to access my WiFi router before I could use it with the internet connection.  Then, as part of the setup process, it downloaded the latest firmware update from HP.  This was all done from the printer control panel, and no PC was needed.
As Pvonk mentioned, your router must be able to correctly handle Bonjour data for iPad to print to an AirPrint printer.  Go ahead and try it, it may work.  If the iPad can't find the printer, you will need to contact Verizon for help in configuring the router or getting a different router that is compatible.
By now, you should realize that a PC is needed to update the iPad.  I assume your Dad visits you when he needs use of a PC.

  • Using the Verizon Jetpack

We moved out into the rural areas a few months ago and had to use dial up. I was a gamer using unlimited broadband, so this was a bit of a problem. I understand that I can use a jetpack and use a wireless signal; it's not much, but it will suffice for my gaming as long as I can manage my data.
My problem is I've never used wireless before and am unsure on how to connect it to a desktop. Do I need a wireless adaptor or a router to use this on a desktop? I'm considering 2 pc's that I wish to buy right now as I need an upgrade.

Thanks in advance, and my apologies if this is the wrong section.

    Try this -
When you device is POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery. This make a reboot to your device which minor issues with the BlackBerry device.

  • Using Verizon Jetpack with iPad

Can I use Verizon Jetpack with my AT&T Iphone and Ipad2 for data?

Try pulling the battery on the jet pack or even hard reset it. I know other devices are working but also hold home button and power key until iPad screen goes black. If your iPad doesn't pick up the waves from jp then you may need to backup and restore on ipad. But yeah it would be nice to know if your iPad can pick up other WiFi.  If you have a smartphone you could turn on Hotspot feature it may cost depending on plan free with m.e. plan

You probably can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
Two cautions if you want to try this:
    1)  The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
    2)  Backups are likely going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule.  Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.

  • POP3 & IMAP Email setup for both Wifi & Cell use separately...

    Hello,
I was asked to post info about this by an iPhone support rep.
I initially had lots of trouble setting accounts for use with both my WiFi home and office networks and for use through the ATT cell network.
If you have a question as to how to setup email for both WiFi and Cell use, answer is you can't configure these manually and you don't want to...the phone does this automatically...and seamlessly. (you will NOT see the change in the advanced settings menu, this occurs internally, the settings appear the same)
The problem: Accounts changing settings automatically...when manually configuring two separate accounts with the same email address but trying to setup the outgoing settings for different ports...one for WiFi (your broadband server acct / port 587) and one for Cell (cwmx.com / port 25)...THIS WON'T WORK!! My WiFi configured email accounts would automatically switch to Cellular configured email accounts as long as they had the same email address. Even though I gave them different names, the phone looks at the "actual email address" and if they are the same it changes your configuration to match the other account (it does this by matching the account that was either ON or OFF first and as soon as you match the second account to that setting (either ON or OFF) the phone switches the settings to match the first account.
The Solution: (End of the Story first for those who have or are facing this problem): Be sure to setup the email accounts for use with your WiFi account first (and ONLY), as when you leave the WiFi area or turn off the WiFi setting the email account will automatically reconfigure itself for use with the ATT Cellular network...then the settings will switch back when you re-connect to the WiFi area(s). The settings that you will "SEE" are your setup for WiFi, this will not change even when using the Edge network (at least not what is displayed in the "advanced" menu). You will still see Port 587, even though the phone is changing setups internally and changes back once back on a WiFi network, you just don't see the changes.
    *I hope this helps!*
(more details below for those who might be interested and _for those who may be trying to setup using COMCAST Broadband_)...
My issue began because I could not get my Comcast setup to work for outgoing email. So I was advised to setup for the Edge port settings by an iPhone support person from ATT...this was a huge error. Because I attempted to do this it actually kept the phone from smoothly converting settings as needed. I only discovered this after resolving the actual problem with my WiFi (Comcast Broadband settings) issue which was actually the setup that MUST HAVE a user ID and Password, at least when using a Comcast Broadband account. Unlike the rest of my XP and ME computers on my networks which do not require this info, the iPhone DOES.
Because I could not get outgoing mail to work with my broadband setup I attempted to setup two accounts for each email address...one for Cellular and one for WiFi for when I would figure out my problem...or for just sending email more quickly. This does not work as the conflict causes a nightmare. This is something the iPhone support folks should have explained but failed to do so, perhaps as they didn't know this?
Bottom line: Let the phone do the choosing...it works great and will avoid YOU wasting TWO DAYS and more than 12 hours on the phone with iPhone Support as I did. I eventually figured the port switching issues and solutions on my own through trial and error and luckily one bright iPhone support person advised me that he knew for sure that when using the iPhone with Comcast you must setup "outgoing settings" using an "ID" and "Password" which I was provided by Comcast in only a few minutes. I don't use their emial account but I setup one just for this purpose. Once done, my email accounts began working normally. Once I resolved the conflict issues listed above the phone now works great both WiFi and Cell.

    fullspool,
Comcast offers an authenticating SMTP server that should work for you on WiFi and EDGE both.
The settings are linked in this Apple knowledge base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306074
    The Comcast link is:
    http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop18913
From that link the settings are:
    Your email address: [email protected]
    The email server type (POP)
    Incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net
    Outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net
With SSL on for both incoming and outgoing.
    Hope this helps,

  • Overage Alert!!  Verizon Jetpack -?Inviting Trojans in to use your computers?

I'm now more than 2 weeks into trying to resolve OUTRAGEOUS overage charges on a VZ MiFi being used by my 87 yr old father who lives 650 mi from me.  VZ sent him a new MiFi(2) over the TG holiday that didn't work, so he has intermittently had to use the MiFi(1) that registers MASSIVE amounts of data.  We are again waiting for another new MiFi(3).  The MiFi(2) was proven to be faulty by a 3rd party.
Interestingly, I've had by now, 2 'diamond tickets' where I've yet to receive any feedback.... guaranteed within 2-3 days.  RIGHT!  Text messages promised with some resolutions... NEVER received, nor have I ever been able to get to Tech Support for info they supposedly had on his MiFi usage, etc, etc.  I cannot call in to VZ without being routed to Financial and the up to Receivables.  There must be LOTS of entries on my account, but it takes FOREVER for them to be discovered and read and I have a feeling, that some of the info is sequestered.  For those of you who may be having the same issues, just call in to Customer Support with a land line or NON VZ cell or to some publicly offered entry point as though you are a new customer.  But, be assured that any follow up number they give you will route you right back to financial services WHO, BY THE WAY are CLOSED much of the time.  I've started just calling those numbers on my VZ cell, put it on speaker phone so the 'helpful' person can hear just how helpful the rest of the VZ system is.  They are generally speechless at this point.
I have discovered that there is software out there that VZ CAN USE to look at your MiFi and see what IP addresses are using it as an access point.  The best I can understand, there may be LARGE NUMBERS of IPs coming thru his MiFi(1).  A Trojan can create this scenario, apparently even with Norton running and Web Root as well.
I have other thoughts, questions that I'd like to suggest, but SERIOUSLY, VZ should be doing this, not me!!!  Working thru multiple 'helpers' that are NOT helpful at all and using my 87 yr old Dad as my 'hands on' trouble shooter is a REAL CHALLENGE!!!!  His car has broken down in the process of one of the trips to town for help and now his younger sister is hospitalized with a stroke, his girlfriend is ill in bed.  SERIOUSLY, I hope HE survives this!!!

Yeah! I'll tell you like I told all of the many Verizon reps. First, my JetPack is secure. Of course anything can be hacked. Second, I live in the middle of ten acres. So do my neighbors. They are hundreds of yards away. Third, they have their own internet access. Fourth, I have checked how far this particular JetPack can broadcast. It just barely gets to the thirty-foot that Verizon advertises. Fifth, my neighbor has the Verizon JetPack service and they can't get my signal, and I can't detect their signal. The other neighbors have Hughes and one has a direct feed DSL service from AT&T. Two have Verizon JetPack service. One told me she had usage at 5:00 a.m., 11: a.m., 5 p.m., 11: p.m. for several days. She called Verizon. They investigated and said they would take care of it, that it was a timing problem and it was on Verizon's side. She said it cleared up. But the times of usage were still wrong.
Read the posts. I went 2.34 GBs into overage on the first 24 hours of usage in my billing cycle, Nov. 21. My plan is 14 GB. So I used 16.34 GB in 24 hours. I haven't used that in any month previously.
Other posters have similar stories. One said a family member left Verizon's employment because he got tired of lying.
I was told by the Verizon rep. that if I went to the shared data plan of 14 GB from my 10 GB, that overage rates would change from $10 for 1 GB, to $10 for 2 GB. Turns out that I was outright lied to. The email from Verizon on Thanksgiving Day at about 6:30 a.m. said I had exceeded my usage of 14 GB by 2.34 GBs and each additional GB was $15. Surprise.
I am going to write a letter to Mr. Lowell McAdam, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless because, like you, I don't think he knows Verizon is taking unfair advantage of their customers. (Public knowledge moderator.) I have already filed an FCC complaint, but don't expect anything to come out of that.
One poster having similar problems with her 86-year-old fathers JetPack is concerned about his health during this stressful time. Somebody at Verizon needs to wake up! I am 70, and it's stressful enough for me. I am making a compilation of all these posts and letters and will send them to my son to see what action he would advise me to take. He's a lawyer. Has a few friends that are lawyers also. Wade.

  • Can I use a Verizon 3rd Gen iPad on WiFi without activating service without losing any functions?

Can I use a Verizon iPad on WiFi without activating service without losing any functions?

Yes, the cellular iPads function the same as the regular ones except that they have the cellular antenna. Just be sure to turn off cellular in your settings, right below WiFi and Bluetooth so you don't get charged if it is accidentally used, meaning you won't have WiFi everywhere anymore, unless you want to pay for a monthly plan again

  • Using Verizon Jetpack 4G on Ipad

I am using a Verizon 4G Jetpack but I can not access the internet on my Ipad. My jetpeck is connected and shows full signal. Its works fine on my phones. I am trying to use it while traveling in the car. Any suggestions?

    Hi JuniorJoker,
Congrats on your new Mifi 5510L! I can certainly understand your concerns with using more data on the new device. The Mifi 5510L is a 4G LTE device which means it is up to 10x as fast as your previous 3G Mifi 2200. Due to the speeds being faster you will experience quicker uploads and downloads, and less buffering resulting in more data usage. What are your activities on the Mifi? Input the information into our 4G lte data calculator to see which activity may be using the most data http://vz.to/1cRXvFh . How many devices are typically connected to the MiFi?
    Thanks,

  • Is using wifi the same as verizon internet?

If i use wifi instead of internet provided by verizon will the billing still be the same?

What phone do you have?  If it is a smartphone and requires a data plan to be activated, then your billing will be $30 a month for the minimum 2 GB data plan, whether you sue wi-fi or not.  If you have wi-fi available, you can reduce the amount of data you are using, and depending on the phone you have, it will help keep your usage within your allowance.
My daughter has an iPhone, and uses it constantly here at home, on our wi-fi.  I know she uses it a lot when she's NOT at home as well, and her usage average 1 GB a month - it would likely be higher (and even over the 2 GB allowance) were it not for our home wi-fi.
On the other hand, I have a BlackBerry, and even without the wi-fi I use way less than 1 GB a month, less than 100 MB a month.  So it all depends on what you do and what type of phone you have. Using wi-fi will cut down the data used from Verizon's network, but it will not eliminate the need to have the required minimum data plan to activate the phone.

So the wifi iPad is what he's got and he's moving to japan in a month. Are we clear on that point? But when we get to the second sentence, "Can I use the verizon version of the ipad in Japan network? That's where I'm assuming he's not gotten the Verizon ipad YET. And that is how getting an AT&T iPad is going to solve his problem. Tx.
    The Verizon iPad has wifi.
I'm assuming he has a Verizon iPad (why else ask about Verizon?) and the OP simply did not specify "I just got an iPad 2 16GB, Verizon version".
