Cp6: How to stop a slide with multiple buttons in a non-linear presentation?

Hello,
I would be most thankful for a solution to this issue, as I haven't managed to find one yet in this forum.
The presentation is non-linear, which means that the first slide is a kind of menu from which you can choose another slide to explore, and always return to the first one.
Each slide has several buttons that activate various audio files, and there is an arrow button in the lower right corner to jump to the first slide.
The problem is that the slide does not stop after some audio buttons are clicked, and continues onto the following slide (instead of pausing until the arrow button is clicked). When I click a few buttons and listen to the audio, eventually the slide automatically continues to the next slide.
I have tried:
adding a click box on top of that button with ''pause project until user clicks'
changing all the buttons to Timing -> Pause after ...
changing only the arrow button to Timing -> Pause after ...
and don't want to make the time of the slide unnecessarily long
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
best

Hi Lilybiri,
Thank you so much for you reply, and the video instruction. Indeed, I had simple actions for the video, and now I have replaced these with advanced actions it is working fine - yey! It's a pity though that such a simple action requires such a convoluted way, especially because my presentation will be full of short audio files (= loads of scripts). I see that you are an expert in using Captivate, so this is still probably the easiest way to resolve the problem.
Anyway, I guess my situation is exceptional, because I am using Cp for an online artwork
Thanks again!

  • I need your expert opinion on how to create a map with multiple conditions.

    Hello.
I need your expert opinion on how to create a map with multiple conditions.
I have a procedure (which i cannot import or re-create in OWB due to the bug), so i am trying to create a map instead :-(
How can i create a cursors within the map?
My function creates table and cursor.
Then it will have to check for duplicates in the tables (the one created and another table) - the criteria for finding duplicates is a number of fields.I then need to place few different conditions (if some attributes are not available) and it has to load cursor based on this conditions. The next step is to fetch the data into the cursor based on what attributes are missing.
The next thing it will do is insert the data into table (if record doesn't exist), output the error in separate table is record is corrupted, or update the record with changed information.
In short i need to re-create match / merge but with conditions, iterations etc 'built into' it.
I can read up on available functions - it's just what would be the best options? and what would be the best approach to do so?
In my function i use %rowtype - but cannot use it in owb - so what would be the alternative? i don't really want to create a lot of variables and then have a nightmare of maintaing it. are there any tips regarding this?
having looked through Oracle dedupe - it's not really what i need because it is just DISTINCT.
I would appreciate any help / advise on this.
    Thank you very much

thanks a lot for your reply - i will look into this option :-)
it is a bit more complicated now as i have to re-create the match / merge and then somehow 'tweak' it to achieve the result i need.
At the moment i am looking to breakdown the package into smaller chunks 'functions' and try creating the map that way.
Anyway, thank you very much for your suggestion.

  • How to design a form with multiple lang(Arabic and Eng) in a page

    Hi All,
Could you pls help me how to design a form with multiple languages. when I set the form proprties-->Form Locale as Arabic. English text is comming in reverse and when set the FormLocale as English, Arabic text is comming in revese.
Pls help me how to design
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

I am not sure how you can have two different languages inside the same PDF.
Alternatively, if you want to place only the static labels, you can convert all the static label in one language to images and set the form language setting to other. And place the images inside the form using Image field. For example, you can keep the form language as English and then convert all the arabic language labels/ Static text to images.
    Anotherway,
Have same sections in both the languages and hide and unhide based on the user selection of the language..
if your user chooses Arabic, then you can unhide the Arabic sections and change the form language properties programmatically..
    Thanks

How does create a server with multiple Clients ?
    Thanks

For a multithreaded server you will need a thread to listen and at least one thread per client. If the conversation is half duplex, one thread per client works very well, if it's full duplex you will find one thread to send and one to receive much easier to program.
I posted a Simple Socket Server that uses 1+2*clients threads.

  • UI Design help / Slider with multiple thumbs?

I've got an application which is trying to set multiple bounds
around a single value. For instance, if my value was "temperature",
possible bounds might be cold, temperate, hot.
I want my user to be able to assign all of those ranges.
My first thought was to use a slider with multiple thumbs. I could
have 0 and 100 as min and max, say, with 2 sliders. Everything
to the left of the first slider is "cold", everything between the two
sliders is "temperate", and everything to the right of the second
    slider is "hot.
Of course, JSlider does not have support for multiple thumbs.
So, I was hoping someone could either suggest a freeware/LGPL
widget that did *or* could propose a clever redesign to obviate
    the need for one.
In reality, my problem is more complex -- multiple values with
varying start values, end values, and number of thresholds. I'm
using multiple sliders right now, and it's functional, but really fugly.
Thanks for any help you might be able to provide!

How to make email link with a button with AC2 in flash cs3?
I wrote this, but it does not work:
    btn_emailinfo.on (release) {

I am guessing you put that on a frame?
If so, the syntax is as follows:
    btn_emailinfo.onRelease = function(){
    getURL("mailto:[email protected]");
Though, if you are placing it directly on the button itself,
    the syntax is:
    on(release){

  • Multiple picture-buttons - How to stop the slide

    Hi,
    my problem:
A slide with a world map, some buttons as target-markers. If you click at one of these dots, a button with some information pops up (its all about visibility). A single click within this button close itself. It is possible to click any target so many time the user want to. It is also possible to open all text-buttons by hitting all the orange dots. Slide audio is 22 seconds long, so is the slide duration. How can i stop the slide up to zthe moment, the user hits the bottom-left navigation button (perpetualButton_AS3)?
I fear, the solution is quite simple, i just can't figure it out. Any help is very welcome, time is running out ... delivery of a teaser in less than 4 hours and still some video work to do.
    Regards
    Marc
btw: eLearning Suite 2.5 is running at this computer

Not sure if this would be what you want but the Event Handler Widget would allow you to either display timed Success captions for a given number of seconds or execute advanced actions to SHOW or HIDE captions when users click the dots.  You can set preferences in the widget to Reset Success/Fail Criteria After Action to enable users to click on an object as many times as they want to repeat the action.  Set the Pausing preferences to permanently pause the slide until the user clicks another button to proceed to the next slide.
If you want to try it out, download a free trial widget here.

  • Stop on last slide with active buttons

    Hi everyone,
Am still a beginner with Captivate...please help:
I've got 4 buttons set up on the last slide of Movie1, functioning as a simple menu, sort of.
First button goes to Movie 2, second button jumps to Movie 5, third button jumps to Movie 8, with a last WATCH ALL button starting from Movie 2 as well. All these movies are linked to each other (ie. movie 3 starts when movie 2 finishes).
How do I get the Movie1 to stop on the last slide, with all 4 buttons remaining active?
In my published exe, the buttons work if and only if I click on them before the project comes to a stop.
    Thanks loads in advance!

    Hello again
While you can't really accomplish it with the Buttons as they stand, you can do something I did. Be creative! I inserted some "disabled" images of the buttons. Staged the images to be present when the Buttons could not be clicked. Then configured the Buttons to appear at the times when I wanted them to.
Here's a hint. If the Buttons are always in the same place, you may insert the "disabled" image on the first slide and configure it to display for the rest of the project.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How do i sync iphone with multiple macs? and few questions

    Hi
I would appreciate if anyone would help me.
    1. I would like to know how to sync my iphone with different macs. I have a macbook 13 and a macbook 15 and would like to use BOTH to be able to transfer data without losing them. (address, apps, photos and music)
would like to use this feature if I were to be suddenly on a trip and a friend would like to share some of his files (audio, apps, photos..etc)
    2. is it possible to use internet tethering on multiple macs or example a "spontanious" mac? (ex. if I were suddenly to use internet through usb on a friends mac while we were on a trip but it were programmed on my mac at home)
    3. my internet tethering is only working on one mac which I usually use to sync everything... i tried just using tethering through usb on the other mac wihtout any sync but somehow it didnt work... usually i just plug and play and start using firefox... by automatic detection...
    4. is there also a way to copy files from iphone onto a mac which would not be one of my libraries?
    5. why cant i use iphone like the ipod as a disk use?
I am aware that these things are somewhat possible because i have read quiet a few artivles but they are sadly enough not so current... any help appreciated.

#1: As has been said, you can't get around it. An iPhone cannot be synched to more than one computer for any media content (it can be for contacts and calendar information, I believe).
#4: You can transfer items purchased from the iTunes Store to another computer but only if you disallow synchronization and authorize that computer to your iTunes Store account. There are third-party utilities that can transfer non-iTunes Store content.
#5: there is no disk mode in an iPhone and no way to enable one, at least not in the sense of disk mode in earlier iPods. There are third-party apps that allow some file transfer to and from an iPhone.
I can't help with tethering questions.

  • How to use one PSE with multiple URLs?

I need to hit my DMZ SAP Web Dispatcher with multiple unique URLs.  I am starting off using webdisp1.abc.com and webdisp2.vde.com.  DNS will resolve both the Web Dispatcher Host.  Following Tobias Winterhalter's Blog: Name-based virtual hosts and one SAP Web Dispatcher to access multiple SAP systems.
My question is how do I go about generating the pse so I can store both webdisp1.abc.com and webdisp2.vde.com?  Do I just import the first request and initiate another certificate request using the same pse?
    Example
    sapgenpse gen_pse -s 2048 -p D:\<file path>\SAPSSLS.pse -r D:\<file path>\webdisp1.req CN=webdisp1.abc.com, OU=IT, O=XYZ Inc., C=US

    Hi Daniel,
what you are looking for are so called SAN certificates. As Martin said, with sapgenpse you are pretty out of luck. However you can create the certificates using openssl and then use sapgenpse to import them into a pse. There are a number of guides on how to create SAN certificates on the web, like the one mentioned by Martin from CAcert (which is one of the best imho) or this one. And there are also guides on the internet on how to convert OpenSSL keys to PSE.
You should however keep in mind, that SAN certificates are more expensive than standard certificates. Therefor they only pay if the hostnames in there are stable for the lifetime of the certificate. If the hostnames need to change once a year, you already will be better off (from a cost perspective) by creating one pse per hostname an let the webdispatcher listen to different addresses, as each hostname requires a new certificate signed by the CA.
Please also make sure, the systems and browsers connecting to your webservers are able to understand SAN certificates. For SAP systems this requires at least pl24 of the sapcryptolib.
    Kind regards,
    Patrick

  • How to control one server with multiple clients via TCP/IP

I am wanting to control a single server with multiple clients.  Only one client would be active at a time, so there would be no conflict.  I want to use TCP/IP.  So far, I have programmed a cluster that passes data back to the server with no problems.  The challenge come in when a second client is added to the mix.  I have't been able to figure out how to turn each client on and send the appropriate data and then turn it off so it doesn't keep sending the same data to the server.
Here are the things that I have considered and did some preliminary testing, but don't really know how to impliment:
    1.  Send a numeric on the front of the cluster packet that tells the server that data is on the way.
    2.  Send a boolean on the front of the cluster packet to somehow turn the server TCP/IP on.
The problem I have found is that LabVIEW TCP/IP doesn't like to be turned on and off.  If it doesn't get the data it expects, it goes into a reset mode and that kills the response time.
    Any help?

You should consider implementing a set of simple one-byte commands that can be sent back and forth between the Server and the Clients. You can base all of these ideas off the example in the Example Finder under Networking >> TCP and UDP called Multiple Connections - Server.
You will have two loops in the server VI: one to wait for new connections, and one to send and receive data from the existing connections. For instance, after one of the clients connects, it can request control of the server to send data to it by sending the character "R" for request. Every time the send/receive loop of the Server executes, the first thing it can do is to check all the existing connections to see if any of the clients have sent a control request ("R"). If so, it will create a buffer (array) of control requests. This could be in the form of Connection IDs or indexes in the array for a particular Connection ID. Your choice.
After the Server receives a request for contol, if it is not already under control by another client, then it can send a response to the first client on the control request list. For instance, the server could send the first client a "S" command for send. Note that after the clients send their control request, they should execute a TCP Read and wait indefinitely for the server to respond with the one-byte "S" command. Then, once the client in control is finished sending data to the server, it could send the character "X" telling the Server to release it from control.
The example I mentioned above already does a similar thing. Note how when a client wants to disconnect, they send the letter "Q". You can see this in the Multiple Connections - Client VI. The Server then checks each individual connection to see if it's received this one-byte command, and if it has, it closes the connection to the client. This is what you would want to implement, but instead of having just one command, you'll have to distinguish between a few and build up a buffer of control requests.
Finally, if a client does decide to disconnect in your application, they could send the command "Q" just like the example above. At this point, close the connection and remove that Connection ID from the array of connections. You will also have to handle the case that this client was in the request control waiting line when it disconnected, in which case you need to delete it from that array as well.
This will definitely work for you, but it will take some work. Best of luck!
