QuickTime player 10.2 does not record audio, mic works in other apps
Hi,
OS: Mountain lion
QT player: 10.2
Perian and Soundflower are installed.
QT is not recording audio from the computer mic or even a headphone mic, neither for audio or video recording.
QT starts always for recording with the volume down.
The mic works in other apps (skype or garaband).
I am not able to find either the plist files for QT.
I used QT in the past to record audio from the computer mic.
I recently updated the OS from lion to mountain lion.
Any ideas why is not working?

I just updated my Apple TV to release 5.2, which is supposed to give Apple TV the ability to "Send stereo audio from movies, TV shows, and other videos on Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and other Apple TVs)." Problem is, this does not seem to be the case.
I have two AirPlay enabled devices:
1) Bose SoundLink Air
2) AirPort Express
In the Apple TV menu, I selected Settings, AirPlay, Bose SoundLink Air. I then played a video; the audio from the video played from my projector's speakers - not from the Bose speaker. I then went back to Apple TV's Settings/AirPlay and selected "Airport Express" (which connected via an aux cable to a speaker)...audio continued to play over my projector's speaker. I can, by the way, play audio on both the Bose and the speaker connected to the Airport Express if I select either of them from the AirPlay menu.
Am I doing something wrong, or is the 5.2 update not working as described?No. But, are your speakers only connected to the AE or are they also connected to an amplifier?
You would need to use a Toslink cable to go from the Apple TV to the speakers/amp.

My iphone 4s does not record high definition video
I cant find anything in the settings that allows 1080p to be turned on or off, but my camera is most definitely NOT recording at this level. Any suggestions as to how I can change that, or do I need to visit the Apple store?
Thanks!I"m not even trying to pull them from the phone. I record a video, using the back camera, and when I watch the video on the phone itself, it is VERY grainy. My girlfriend has the iphone 4 (no 's') and the videos on her phone are much clearer, even when sent to my phone for viewing. I've cleaned the lens, and made sure the case doesnt get in the way, or cover the lens in any way.
I think I just got a bum phone, but wanted to be sure there isnt something in the settings that I need to adjust before taking it to the Apple store. Closest one is an hour away, so I dont want to make the drive if I dont need to.

Facetime for Mac does not transmit audio.
Other voice applications, like Skype and Ventrillo, send audio. I have deleted Facetime, rebooted, and reinstalled it but the problem persists. My iMac is set to use the internal audio. Facetime does send video.
Figured it out after reading a few different posts. In case anyone was following this one and having the same problem, here is what did it for me:
Click on where you find the little AirPort sign (on iMac it is on top right hand side next to the date and time).
Go down to: Open Network Preferences
Click on: Advanced
Then on DNS
Then click on the + sign and put the following numbers: 8.8.8.8
click again on the + sign and put: 8.8.4.4

My new iPhone 6 does not record 1080 HD Video.
When I open the video file in Quicktime or some other video program, it shows as 568x320 which is SD and definitely not 1080. Suggestions?

Calling all sound wizards: webcam not recording audio
Hey guys so I just bought a Creative Live! HD 1080 webcam to record video on my computer, and for some odd reason, the audio does not record with the video when I use the webcam's software. I experienced the same issue using ManyCam, but I did find that SmartPixel webcam software recorded audio when I used my headset, however it did not record audio with just the webcam mic.
I've tried just about everything in the control panel that would be related to sound, and that doesn't seem to be solving the issue. I also went to accessories: sound recorder to see if the audio would record from there, and it did.
I want to also note that the same issue occurred while using the Logitech c920. I returned that one because I could not get the audio OR video to record.
I am currently using Realtek High Definition Audio and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I've updated all drivers.
There must be a solution to this - anyone have some bright ideas?Are you launching Captivate with Run As Administrator privilege?
If one of your co-workers logs onto your PC with their user profile, does the same microphone that doesn't work for you work OK for them? -
I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie. Any suggestions to fix?
Thanks for the reply. I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long. After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix. I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

What OS version are you using?
What are the full specs. of the AV file, that is not Importing with Audio?
What Project did you set up, at New Project?
Exactly what steps were used to Import that AV file?
Did you allow adequate time for PrE 12 to Conform the Audio portion of your file?

After upgrade to CS5 Audio does not import / load with video in avi
I updated from Ppro CS3 to CS5 purchased from the Adobe store.
I opened a project created in CS3 in CS5 and followed the prompt to save it as a new project.
All tracks, edits, etc were intact and any given sequence played re-rendered etc., as expected.
I created a new project, imported one of the same avi files used in step 2. Again, everything worked properly
I ran update from the PPro help menu to 5.0.3. I ran this process two different times. The first time I selected all updates. The second time I only update PPro itself. I did a system restore in between, the following results were identical in both situations.
Now, when I open either the converted or new projected file, Ppro reports the media as "offline"…it is not. If I "Link Media" the file, I get this message: The selected file does not contain audio media used by clip references in one or more sequences. These audio clip references will be deleted, and cannot be undone. Do you want to continue?"
Gspot.exe reports the audio codec as MPEG-1 Layer 2 and the video codec as MJPG
The avi files were rendered on a MAC from .MOV's to AVI's. Here are the file properties that PPRo reports:

Although it has worked well so far today i-photo on my Mac does not recognise when I plug in my Sony camera so I can't download the video I just made.

Sometimes this happens, because the camera is not properly charged. In that case connect the camera to a charger or use a card reader. -
my contact list does not always include a video icon so I can FaceTime with a contact- how can I fix this?
Thanks so much for your reply but that won't help in my current situation. Maybe I didn't make it clear. The latest version of Quicktime as new as it sounds doesn't support screen recording on a powermac G5 Motorola chip with OS 10.5.8 which is the highest os I can go with that machine. If I can sync the two computers so I can get the application to record from my newer computer then I'm ok. I just don't have the recording application for audio that I'm using to demo for the website on the laptop as it's about 10,000 dollars. So, I have to use the older computer to do the audio presentation and try to get the newer computer synced to it so I can use the new version that works on snow leopard to record a screen shot that will hopefully appear on my laptop instead of the old machine. Hope that makes sense. It's a bit confusing but in a nutshell it's like this:
1. I am a Pro Tools Instructor which is the state of the art application and recording device for audio and movie scoring and I have a new job where I make small snippets of tips using Pro Tools which I'd like to record with quicktime on screen as they happen
2. the best version of Quicktime Pro available for the Power Mac, OS 10.5.8 will not do screen recording on it.
3. I can use the Quicktime application from my newer laptop but I need to sync it to the old machine
4. I'm hoping but I don't know, if I do this, that I can record Pro Tools in action from my new machine buy seeing it on this laptop screen and then recording it with the new quicktime.
5. If I can sync the two computers, I'm hoping this can happen but I can't use my ethernet connection as I have it used to connect to my recording console and can't afford to buy anything new like an ethernet hub yo connect the two so I'm hoping that there's another way to connect them.

Does 2 firewire audio and video interface can work together on FCP ?

My audio interface is a TC Electronic Konnekt 24D
my video interface is a Canopus ADVC 110
my hard drives are plugged in firewire too
and I use Final Cut Pro 5.0.4
So, the konnekt is recognized by FCP only when the Canopus is not plugged. And even then, the audio sometimes drop out and sometimes causes the app to crash, so that I have to trash the preferences
When I plug the Canopus, the Konnekt 24D is recognised by OS X but not FCP
I want to use the voice over tool with the konnekt 24D, so what should I do ?
Does 2 firewire audio and video interface can work together ?
If so, maybe I only have a driver problem from TC Electronic.
But if not, I have to change this interface. Let me know if only RME, MOTU, Presonus and Edirol work, as it is said on apple's webpage for hardware compatibility

Ok. So an audio interface can be plugged to FCP without crashing the app. Because of the Konnekt driver problem, I wasn't shure of this.
I use my Aja box for export & external monitoring.
All my audio sources run back into the Tascam and I
use the analog mixer in the 1082 to monitor different
sources.
When I view external video, the audio follows it to
keep sync.
that's exactly what I want with other I/O interfaces. I'd like to monitor video with the canopus ADVC 110, and monitor audio with the Konnekt 24D (or another interface if this one is not compatible)
I also imput dailies with a deck or a camera (DV or HDV) but that's not the point here.
I want to imput audio with the Konnekt 24D because of its audio quality. Not audio sync to video dailies. But voice over, in sync with FCP video playback (for me, tha ADVC 110) -
Premiere Pro Does Not Support Audio-Only Capture For Some Formats, Such As HDV?
In the PPro CS 5.5 Help file under, "Recording audio", it says:
"Note: To capture an audio-only file from a digital video source, choose Audio from the Capture menu in the Logging pane of the Capture panel.
"Premiere Pro does not support audio-only capture for some formats, such as HDV."
I'm shooting in HDV and if I want to capture audio only, would I just need to switch my setting to DV?
The only thing is my Canon HV20's HDV audio is MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 16 bit, 48 kHz.
My DV setting is PCM audio, which I think is a better quality format, right?
Would there be any noticeable difference?
Thanks.Capture your HDV material in the normal way and just drag audio only from the source monitor to the timeline.

Hi, I'm new here (I haven't got my mac for a long time either), so please bear with me!
I have a problem with many programs, namely my mac does not save the settings.
Word: The change of default Czech language into Polish is not permanent. Czech comes back after the restart.
Ableton: The authorisation of the program is withdrawn when I switch the laptop. I have to authorise it again after every restart.
Cubase: It changes audio input and audio output back to internal speakers and microphone after the restart.
Additionally, for example, I have changed the preferences of video files. I have changed the default player from QuickTime to VLC. Restart undoes the changes.
Has anyone have a similar problem?

This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
