CP6, Recording slide...closed captions?

I've created my slides using the Insert Recording Slide function and included narration so I don't have to record the audio separately. Then I edit the slides in the Edit Video Demo screen...makes it awkward with not being able to see the audio, but I think I can work with it. However, I now have the problem of closed captions. With no separate audio file, how do I add closed captions? I can't find it anywhere.
I did find in the Library the audio file that was recorded along with the video file. I could, conceivably, import that audio file to the timeline and add captions from there. But then I can't trim the video and audio together (thus costing more editing time with trying to sync my edits). What am I missing?

Thanks for the info. So, my workaround at the moment is to export the audio from the video file, then import those audio files (it's usually more than one after I've done my trimming) into the slide itself, add the captions to that audio, and since I can't find how to mute the video file, I instead turn the volume way down on the imported audio files on the slide. The slide audio runs the CC, and the video/audio actually plays the sound. It's sync'd already, since I don't export/import until I've done all of my editing.
So will this be okay, or could there be an unforeseen problem with my swf project later? I have no way to test my swf project until it's imported by my publisher onto their servers...

  • CP8 Interactions and slides with audio and closed captions - not working well - please help

Okay, I am using cp8 on a windows 8 64 bit machine. I have placed an interaction on a slide. I also have audio on that slide and closed captions.
When I get to the slide, the audio does not play because the mere fact that the interaction is on there makes the slide pause upon enter. I could have the student click play on the playbar to go, but that is not required on slides without interactions, so I don't like that solution. I also could do an On Enter slide Play Audio and pick the wav file, but then the closed captions don't show up.
So, the question is, how do I have the slide automatically play the audio at the slide level without the student having to click the play button to go?? Slides with interactions should behave just like other slides with objects/widgets on them. This auto pausing thing is driving me nuts!
    Thanks,
      Lori

Lori, this is puzzling! Are you talking about one of the learning interactions included with Captivate? If yes, which one? My puzzlement is due to the fact that what you described is what happened in CP6: interaction paused slide at first frame (I had a workaround for audio). But since CP7 interactions do not pause any slide, you'll have to provide the pause yourself. There are some exceptions (games).

  • What happens to the closed captions when you delete a video or audio from a slide? (Captivate 7)

This might be a silly question but ...
I have a presentation with audio voiceover on every slide and videos on some. I have entered closed captioning for all of them. This is a pretty time consuming job.
What happens if I run into a problem with a video or audio clip and need to replace it? If I delete that audio or video from the slide, what happens to all the closed captioning that you added to it? I'm assuming it's deleted when you delete it from the slide.
If I export the captions before deleting the audio/video file, can I then reimport them when I replace the audio/video file with a fixed version?
    Thanks for any clarification.

    Hi there,
You can have CC with Slide audio and Multi Slide video in Captivate.
If you will delete the slide audio or Multi slide Video, then CC will get disabled on that slide, but same CC text will retain there as Slide notes.
Now, once you will re insert the audio or multi slide video you can mark that slide notes as CC again, or can have new CC.
So, even after deleting the audio and multi slide video, CC will not be deleted.
    check following section in Captivate:
    Thanks.

  • Closed Captioning with Adobe Presenter 10 and pre-recorded audio

I'm working with Presenter 10. Pre-recorded narration has been imported. The script text has been copied into the notes section of PowerPoint. The audio plays fine in the flash file. When I click CC the closed captioning highlight moves through the text but it is not in sync with audio. Is there a way to manually adjust the movement of the highlighting so that that it is in sync with the audio? If not, is there some other way to get pre-recorded narration to be in sync with the original script?
    Thanks!

After HOURS on the phone with Adobe people and them being completely useless i finally figure out why i am getting crashes when hitting record.
Presenter 10 doesnt work with Multi Monitor Setups (at least some of them)
Im not sure if anyone else has multi monitors and uses Presenter successfully but that was why mine crashes.
This amazes me quite honestly...Powerpoint by nature is designed to support 2 screens...1 for the presentation and 1 for the controls...for Presenter 10 to not support such a basic thing is absurd.
Come on Adobe you have been through 10 versions of Presenter and you cant get this right?
This is like removing the start bar from Windows!!!

  • Can we translate in captivate 7? I Have tried and changed the Caption and Notes. Can we change the on screen text of te normal slides, interactive call out boxes, screen recording slides and quizzes? If yes, please let me know the process.

Can we translate in captivate 7? I Have tried and changed the Caption and Notes. Can we change the on screen text of te normal slides, interactive call out boxes, screen recording slides and quizzes? If yes, please let me know the process.

    Of course! Here ya go
For the record, I did create a new project with only two slides to try and duplicate the issue. I had the same problem. I unchecked the Mouse Click Sound check box, republished and the slide auto advanced. I'm wondering if a default sound file was somehow moved or deleted? I discussed uninstalling and reinstalling C7 onto my laptop, but that's a frustrating solution haha

  • Using slide notes for closed captioning

Is there any way to import slide notes into closed
captioning? In our Captivates we use the slide notes to create a
script for the narration. This is exactly what we'd want to have
appear in the closed captioning, but currently we have to copy and
paste the notes for each slide into the closed captioning dialog.
Futzy and time consuming! Does anyone have suggestions for
    streamlining this process?
    Thanks!
    Judi

    Judi,
I don't think there is a way to import slide notes into the
closed captions. But, I'm using the Closed Captions to create a
    script document for the audio.
    1. I import a blank MP3 onto the slide.
    2. Right click the audio layer in the timeline, and then
    click Closed Captions.
    3. Type in the desired text you want displayed in the closed
    captions.
    4. Save the project.
    5. Export the the project captions and closed captions to a
    Word Doc.
    6. Have the script reviewed and edited.
    7. Import that same document back into Captivate. Your closed
    captions will be automatically updated.
This is a nice way to create a design (script) document you
can use to send out for review instead of placing your scripts in
    the slide notes section.
    Hope this helps.

  • AP8 - Slide Notes playing like Closed Caption

I have slide notes for each of my slides in Adobe Presenter 8.  But when I export the presentation, the output plays through the slide notes like they were closed captions by highlighting each line in time to the audio.  I DO NOT want this and do not know how to disable it.  I want the slide notes to be static and not move.  I cant even slide down in the notes file due to the "closed caption" effect where each sucessive line is highlighted.
There is no video, and no included closed captions.
Any help on how I can stop this would be GREATLY appreciated!

Can you please describe the current process steps you're using to add these 508 texts? Are you using the Accessibility button to open the dialog for each image?

  • Closed captions unreliable in Captivate 6.0.1

    Hi all,
The company I work for is getting ready for several courses to go live on their website. Accessibility, in the form of closed captioning, is very important to my employer and to our clients. We've put a lot of time into getting the captions the way we want them, timing them correctly, etc.
However, when I publish a course for our review, and open it in a browser, the captions may or may not work. The CC button is available on the playbar, and sometimes one click will bring up the captions. But just as often, it takes 5, 6, 15 clicks before the captions appear. Sometimes I have to stop the course and click the button, and sometimes they won't work until I move on to another slide and then click the CC button.
Has anyone else run into this problem? We might just opt to have the captions on by default, and hopefully that will work. But either way I'd like to know why this is happening and if there's a solution or workaround.
Running Cp 6.0.1 on a Mac. Choosing 'publish to folder' and exporting a .swf to Flash 10.
    Thanks in advance--
    Jason

I haven't personally run into this issue before with any Cp projects, but since the CC text actually belongs to the Skin rather than the content area I would look at the skin first.  Have you tried removing the current skin and assigning another one from Cp6 to see if that improves matters?  If your project was upgraded from an earlier version of Cp at any time then some issues may have crept in via the skin not being entirely compatible with your current Cp version. Even if the project was created from scratch in the current version, changing the skin may give it the kick in the ribs that fixes the issue.
If changing the skin has no effect, try deleting or renaming your preferences folder.  Perhaps you have some corrupted preferences that are causing the issue.

  • Closed captioning for rtmp streaming video

hi, is it possible to do closed captioning in  adobe captivate 5.5 if the video is set to rtmp? any reply would be helpful. thanks!

What is the subject matter of these FLVs?
If it's Captivate screen captures, then you could have added the CC text to each slide if you had left them as FMV slides.
However, if the video content is of other things, e.g. people talking or some type of action captured with a video camera, then I believe your best solution would be to add the Closed Captioning in whatever tool you used to edit and publish the video.
As I mentioned before, Captivate doesn't really provide a mechanism for adding CC text to on screen objects that contain audio in any form.  So for example, you cannot add CC text to an SWF that you've inserted as an animation, even though you can record and add audio to that SWF in Captivate.  Videos are in a similar position, except that they usually don't have their audio added in Captivate.  They mostly come with their audio track built in.  This means the only real way to guarantee good synchronisation of the CC text is to have it embedded in the video as well.

  • Captivate 7 and adding Closed Captioning to my training *No Video just Voice Overs*

    Afternoon Adobe Community,
I want to pose a question to all you experts out there on an easy way to display text from the slide notes as a form of closed captioning for my Voice Overs... I am aware that with video it has the functionality to add closed captioning but was hoping for a viable option to do this for pre-recorded audio that I have the transcript in the slide notes.
This may not be possible but figured I would give it a shot.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,
To convert Slide notes as closed captions, Please check the 'Audio CC' checkbox present in the slide notes panel (Audio should be present in the slide )
This will convert all the marked Slide notes as closed captions automatically. You can synch the converted closed captions with audio from the Edit>Audio>Closed captions dialog.
    Thanks,
    Nimmy Sukumaran.

  • Streaming video stops when initiate closed captioning

So our company has a streaming video feed coming from the folks over at quickplay.com.
All was good watching the streaming video in Safari (iOS 8 and Mac 10.10)...UNTIL you turn on closed captioning. Now anytime you load the feed you get a "Missing plug-in" message with "This page contains content of “application/vnd.apple.mpegurl” type. You do not have the plug-in required to view this content."
Close/restart Safari, or rebooting does nothing...happens on the Mac and iPhone. So I came across the enable Accessibility options for closed captioning on both devices in Settings and nothing.
One of our staff needs to view this feed with the CC on to monitor it. So I guess first where on both devices is it caching the preference to use CC and making them unable to stream the feed any longer. And then...why is this not working?

What is the subject matter of these FLVs?
If it's Captivate screen captures, then you could have added the CC text to each slide if you had left them as FMV slides.
However, if the video content is of other things, e.g. people talking or some type of action captured with a video camera, then I believe your best solution would be to add the Closed Captioning in whatever tool you used to edit and publish the video.

  • I need to know how to add closed captioning to a project Captivate 6

I need to know how to add closed captioning in a project in Adobe Captivate 6.  It is a software demo single recording.  I don't see where to go to create closed captions or change accessilbity preferences.

    Hi there,
First thing that you need to do is go to Project > Skin editor > and check the box for Closed Captioning button in playbar.
A slide must have a slide audio or Slide Video to add CC notes in it.
Go to Windows > Slide notes, to view the slide notes panel, and click on + sign to add Closed captioning notes.
Please check this article to add CC in project: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/slide-notes.html

  • Text caption in hidden not exported (export /project captions and closed captions)

If you have in your demonstration text caption (ballooons) in
hidden , if you export the project caption to word it's not in
    there...
I use to set some text captions to hidden to ease my life on
slides that contain lots of ballons (and some over other ones) ,
when I export the flash animation, everything is fine , all is in
there (including the "hidden text") .
The trouble is that if i export the "project caption and
closed caption" to Word , the text of captions in hidden is not in
there . (I'm not talking about exporting handsout where you have an
option to export as well hidden slides.)
Exept if I'm wrong, I have not founded any option to manage
the fact to export hidden caption as well (or set all hidden
caption of the demonstration to "not hidden") .
It is really a problem , especially if you have done lots of
movie that needs translation, you have sent the "exported caption"
to the translation service and now you realise that some parts are
    missing .... ;(

    Hi There,
When you export the doc file as Project Caption and Closed Caption. if you change the fonts and style in Doc file and the reimported it in Captivate. It will accept those changes and you can see those changes in Captivate with the same fonts settings.
    Thanks

  • Open with "Closed Captioning" on, or always show CC

I want to have my projects start with "closed captioning". I tried to down load the little SWF file, from the third party, recommended elseware, but it doesn't seem to work. It says it was made for Captivate 4, and I'm using 5.
Any help? Is there another way to set CC as the default?

Robert, I think the issue here is that after you insert the new slide and drag it to the first of the presentation, you then defeat the purpose of adding the new slide because you then configure THAT slide to execute the advanced action to set the variable.
The point of introducing a new slide is to introduce a delay that gives the presentation time to "settle" before turning on the Closed Captioning.
The bottom line is that you insert the slide, move it to the beginning and configure the timing for perhaps .1 or .2 seconds. THEN execute the action on the SECOND slide.
Give that a try and see if things improve.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Error by exporting Captivate to Word: "Project Captions and Closed Captions"

    Hello everybody,
I'm from Germany, working in Heidelberg and I've got a problem! I would so much appreciate if somebody would have a solution for it.
Nobody could help me yet - no Adobe support via chat, no Adobe support via phone. They said the forum is my last chance. I'm frustrated. But a solution is important for my ongoing project...
    Description of the problem situation:
I've created an e-learning project in German language. This e-learning shall be translated into other languages, so I want to export a word document with the captions inside. I'm doing this way:
File > Export > Project Captions and Closed Captions, and save it as word doc.
But then, after I typed in a name for the word document, another "Save as"-window appears in the background (I discovered it by coincidence) and wants me to save a word template before the export process starts. Here's a screenshot:
I don't know the reason for this second "Save as" window, so I try to save a word template (I saved it on my desktop, because I don't know where else).
After klicking on "Save" the following error message appears:
(in English: Error by exporting of captions. Try the following things: if Microsoft Word is installed, if Word is open, if the exported file is open etc.)
It's not depending on the captivate file as such, I tried it with other ones (which have only one slide) - the same problem.
It's not depending on my computer, I tried it with another one in my office - there was the same thing, same error message (but without the step of saving a word template!).
Maybe important: My hardware and versions I'm working with...
    Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1), 64bit
    Adobe Captivate 8
    Microsoft Word 2010
Does anyone has the same problem or does anyone know the answer for this problem?
I would really really appreciate your answers!! Thank you in advance!
    Chris

    Dear Mayank, dear Lilybiri,
thank you both soooo much, I couldn't belive what I saw as the export of captions worked!!! It was really surprising!
I guess your both solutions helped me out - Mayank's hint of the admin's rights was the necessary information! But it first worked because Lilybiri told me to insist and to try it after I restarted the PC - and to do it several times! So it worked!! Otherwise I would probably still be confused.
    Thank you so much!
    Here's the proof
    Chris
PS: Does anyone know, why I still have to decide if I want to save the "Adobe Captivate" Template thing?
Every time I'm doing an export it asks me every time if I want to save or not save the "Adobe Captivate"-file...
