CP8 - Failure to export captions

Hi,
I'm on mac with CP8 and MS Word 2011 installed (and open) and I am unable to export captions : Failure to export captions.
Is there a solution ?

Failure level 3 caption box appears twice?

Sorry for the multiple posts, but I really need an answer to this. Any ideas?
My scenario: I have a graded single response multiple choice question with five answers. If correct, Jump to Slide 3. If wrong, I allow 4 attempts with 3 failure levels, Jump to Slide 2 for remediation. It acts like this.
Select first wrong answer, Submit, get failure level 1 caption, click anywhere to remove caption;
Select second wrong answer, Submit, get failure level 2 caption, click anywhere to remove caption;
Select third wrong answer, Submit, get failure level 3 caption (which reads "Last chance"), click anywhere to remove caption;
Select fourth wrong answer, Submit, get failure level 3 caption again (still reads "Last chance"), click anywhere to jump to slide 2.
Is there a way to prevent failure level 3 caption from displaying the second time?

I think its the AttrValException you are hitting. In that case it is the expected behaviour of the Exception.

Adding and exporting caption info in iPhoto 11

I recently installed iLife 11 and am frustrated by 2 issues: 1) the apparent inability to increase the size of the box used to enter caption information, and 2) the inability to export caption information along with a photo or photos. Previous versions of iPhoto allowed users to do both of these things. Any suggestions?

That feature has been left out of iPhoto 11. Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

CP5 German - Word 2010 German: Exporting Captions fails

When I start exporting captions from Captivate 5 to Microsoft Office Word 2010 (both German versions) I get the popup message "Failed exporting captions. Check if MS Word is installed or document is already open."
MS Word is installed, the document does not exist before.

Just tried your workflow on a laptop with an English version of CP5 and Word 2010, Dutch version. Didn't get the same error, couldn't open the document (that will still be a 'DOC'-file) from within CP. However checked and the DOC was created, when I openend Word I could open the created document. To be sure: could you check if there was a document created? Since you got another error message, I doubt it, but it is worth checking

Sporadic failure to export to .PDF in PM7

This issue has flumoxed me from time to time. Every now and again a newly created PM7 document will fail to export to .PDF nor print to a PostScript driver. These documents are nothing too complicated. Sometimes I can trace it to a font error, other times I cannot ascertain where it comes from. I have checked against other known documents that both export to .PDF and print to PostScript just fine during the same use session. The most recent issue comes in a simple document that has one .JPG placed in it and a 54 point headline. I have tried changing fonts, removing the .JPG and re-typing text blocks all to no avail.
Any suggestions on what causes the failure?
Before it is suggested I migrate to InDesign, we already use it. However we have a huge legacy of PM7 documents that are easier to rework staying in PM7.

Although the actual issue with the printing company my client currently using.
"If your logo is square or rectangular, you can choose to fit the artboard to the logo (the art) and then save out the PDF. If it is not a square or a rectangle, the PDF will always show "white" around the logo."
I didnt able to find out any option under edit/view menu. there are "fit to window" and another think cant remember...but no fit to art work...
any way my problem is solved now.

"Error-less failure" to export to QT

Hi all,
I'm getting an error-less (i.e., no error message) failure when I try to export my iMovie 6.0.2 movie to QT. Here's the situation:
- 18 min movie, bunch of clips and photos, few tunes (no tunes from the music store)
- all application updates downloaded and installed
- trying to "share" my iMovie as a QT/Full Quality (I get a .mp4 created, not a .mov - not sure what the difference is?!)
- it tells me 36 mins to do this; with 6 mins to go, the process suddenly stops and I'm left with a 128MB .mp4 file that I can't open (when I double click it, I g
et "Error opening file")
I looked at the movie 5/6ths of the way along (just trying to interpolate here) - looks "normal".
Help! Is there a log file or error file I could look into? I really have no clue where to start!

wowy, welcome in the wide areas of video codecs...
a) iM supports mainly firewire connected miniDV camcorders =>dv codec
b) you are allowed to use mepg4 as codec - as for editing recording done with an iSight/internal cam as on MacBooks....
c) AVI is a container from the PC world... or "wrapper"; can contain almost "anything" as codec... many stills with ability for some "moving images" use mpeg1 as codec…
I would...
a) create a new project, choose when asked "dv/NTSC"
b) convert the AVIs BEFORE usage in iM... try Streamclip (free usage)
c) after conversion, import into iM project....
d) any reasons, why you want mp4 as output formatß what is your final goal with that project? web? iDVD?
I'm pretty sure, iM gets "confused" will all these conversions "on the fly"…

Captivate 5: Export Captions then Import Captions Problems

The more I work with Captivate 5 the more disappointed I am in some of the changes. I just did a simple test (part of my normal workflow) where I export a project's Captions into Word (usually this would be to apply different symbols to bullit items). I didn't change anything this time, I just wanted to see how this function works in Captivate 5. Well, I certainly screwed up the project I was working on (good thing I was working on a backup!)
Why would a simple export then import (with no changes) thoroughly mess up text in a project? In previous versions of Captivate there would have been no changes, it would import what it exported. Now I am afraid to use this function. This was a powerful tool at one time.
In previous versions this was a wonderful way to have control over text. I could change bullit items, line and font spacing, etc.
Is there something I am missing in my workflow? Has anyone used this function? Is there any documentation available that might shed some light on how I need to change my work flow to accomodate this?

in captivate 5 there a feature for people to export legend and sub title so some one could revise the slide text etc...
i exprt it in word format but the doc created we could reed the text cause the text is white on a white background
any idea ?

Export captions on image

How can I retain the caption upon export to JPG? I would like this caption to be seen when I upload for sharing to other sites such as FB, flickr or for family who only use email. Thank you.

Thank you for the link and forgive me I am a new user. I do not want to print all my photos. It sounds like I cannot just simply type a caption into the "caption" line in the Library module and have it retained upon export in any way. I have downloaded the mogrify plugin and have it installed but I see that I have to create a border first? This seems like a lot of work for >200 photos that I just want to share with family and friends. I want to use LR to make my life simpler not harder. Am I misunderstanding the posts? It seems that once I add the captions in the Print module, then export, then I have to reimport them.

Exporting Caption Data

Does anybody know if it is possible to export just the caption data with Aperture, I am a Bridge user but now learning how to use Aperture.

InDesign CS5 PDF - Failure to Export Vector Elements

Recently, we have had two separate incidents where the creation of an InDesign CS5 PDF failed to export certain vector art elements. The elements are not shared between jobs and the files were physically created in different locations (entirely different servers) within our organization. The elements are pdf and eps and appropriately linked. On the PDF, we're not even getting a low-res version of the artwork. When looking at the PDF in NEO, the containing box of the graphic is not present. One the most frustrating aspects of this is we haven't been able to repeat error in order to fix the error. The next time (or 50 times) the document is exported, the vector art is fine.
Has anyone else had a similar issue?

I've had this same problem just today. I have a 64 page INDD that when exported to PDF (print) from CS5 (with no elements on my page set to "non printing elements"), only some of my vector shapes get exported. They are all merely 0.25pt Black Lines used to direct a reader from a comment to a matching illustration, and some pages exported them just fine, and some other pages will not work. I've tried moving them to a new layer, cutting and pasting in place, copying and pasting in place, changing the transparency modes, etc...nothing works...EXCEPT to just redraw the lines.

Failure on exporting Qt Mov with sound synced

I have 2 problems.
First, Keynote can only export Qt video by creating 2 files separately, one is for video, the other is sound track. But I need the combination. Plz HOW?
Second, even worse is that the video and the audio don't match properly. For the audio works fine but the slides move much slower as its normally played. it delays every time between the transition of two slides, which is especially obvious when there is no transition effect between the two.
It frustrates me for a whole week but I can't still find ways to fix it...
Is my wrong operation or the software *****?

That's what I thought and that is how things worked on the old G4 with FCP 3 but unfortunately there is now a significant difference between a self-contained and reference file movie. The colors in the self-contained movie are washed out and the deep blues are now light purple so there appears to be shifting in the hues also.

Multiple failure during exporting and recording

Hello everyone,
I'm currently helping a friend to create a slideshow to be used on their wedding banquet that talks about their childhood and love story. It's a combination of photographs, with 1 short video clip. As well as 1 personally remixed soundtrack to be played on the background. The whole slideshow plays for a good 8 min 36 sec due to the fact that the bride have asked for an edited soundtrack (combination of several songs being edited into one track).
To make it brief, this slideshow have 95 slides, divided into sections: childhood, dating, engagement portraits, overseas engagement party, pre-wedding portraits. Each transition (style/effect) , transition duration, and transition delays varies as I have to match it with each sections of entire soundtrack.
Everything went perfectly............... if it's only playing (preview) on my own MacBook Pro.
I have read through the user guide, troubleshoots, tutorials video clips on YouTube, and suggestions posted by other users on the forum. Unfortunately, nothing works for me, and I couldn't find out what went wrong. I even tried to play the .key file on another Mac, all the transition duration and transition delays which I have pre-set individually were still messed up. Even experienced a major delay (up to 10 sec pause after playing the slide which contains a short video clip).
And, I did followed the instructions to make sure the "include audio (sound files, movie audio)" and "include slideshow soundtrack" boxes are checked.
I have stumble upon the following problems:
When I tried to record the slideshow, the audio plays way faster than the slides.
After I tried to export as QuickTime Movie, only the first 4 slides kept jamming while the audio continue to play, and the rest of the 91 slides doesn't even show.
I tried to export as all available options/file size of the QuickTime Movie, same results occurred.
Same thing happened as I tried to export to iDVD.
I also tried to export as iTunes Movies, the duration of the entire slideshow went from 8 min 36 sec to 11 minutes+. And, transition duration and transition delays which I have pre-set individually were all messed up.
I even tried to export to a copy of Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, it doesn't even play at all.
My goal is to successfully burn this slideshow into a DVD as a movie for the wedding couple, so they can keep it after playing it on their banquet.
I really don't know what else to do in order to get done, I'm desperately hoping any Keynote '09 experts could kindly give me some advise and/or solutions. Thank you very much for your time on reading this, and all your help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you are hitting all the big problems in one slideshow! There have been numerous posts here about the Keynote timing getting messed up on export to Quicktime. There have also been problems with exporting video clips when there is a soundtrack or voiceover.
Try removing the soundtrack from the Keynote so all you have are the slides with pics and video. Record the slideshow to get the timing of the transition. Then export that to Quicktime and make sure to uncheck the box that says to include recorded audio. Then import it into iMovie. Once in iMovie add the soundtrack. This way if the timing gets messed up on the slides, you can add the individual songs that make up the soundtrack and adjust where to fade out and bring in the next one. With iMovie, it is still easy to send to iDVD to burn your DVD.

Failure to Export as Quicktime

Hello, looking for some kind help... Never had any problems with this before so i'm stumped. Everytime i try to export my movie, "the program final cut pro has quit". Does this have anything to do with multip[le dropped frame rates which occured frequently during my editing? And if so how can i correct all this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Failure to export to PDF

I have an InDesign file that I exported an earlier version of to a PDF with no problem, but now it fails to export. I've installed Adobe updates but it hasn't helped.

I am getting an error message when I am trying to export a InDesign document to a JPEG file. Any ideas on how to fix it?
