Hi friends,
i am working on BW, but my current project requires me to work partly on sem bps, cpm. So can any one help me in this regards, like steps to create dashboards, score cards etc.... I need detailed steps for the same.

BPS : Problem in retracting 0QUANTITY in cost center planning.
Hi folks,
I tried the standard retractor for retracting the Cost Center plan data from BI to ECC. I followed the blogs "BPS Retraction for Cost Center Accounting - I&II (Primary Cost & Qty)" by Praveen Mayalur and made the settings accordingly.
I am having problems in retracting the 'quantity' to ECC and hence I tried the following scenarios and got different results.
Scenario 1:
In the level, if I select Keyfigures "Amount" and "Quantity" --
When I execute the function, the system does not pick up any data. The message given by the system is "0 data records were read, 0 of them changed, 0 generated"
Scenario 2:
In the level, if I select only Keyfigure "Amount" --
When I execute the function, the system does the retraction without error and with the message - "Retraction: Update completed without errors. No. of records: 4. 4 data records were read, 0 of them changed, 0 generated".
I am able to see the amounts in ECC also.
Scenario 3:
In the level, if I select only Keyfigure "Quantity" --
When I execute the function, the system gives the message -"Retraction: Update completed without errors. No. of records: 3. 3 data records were read, 0 of them changed, 0 generated".
But I am not able to see the quantities in ECC.
If anybody has worked on quantity retraction, kindly guide me through the settings.

Did you check the below point when you define sender structure?
Make sure to pass the Unit of Measure when passing the Quantity else retractor wont update the Quantity in R/3. (Either you can map the field or maintain constant in the sender structure)

Dear Friends,
We are facing a problem in our planing application which we are building
on BW-BPS 3.5.
Problem:-
We have Two planing levels
1) Material, Sales office, Plan qty
2) Material, Sales Office, Region, plan qty
When we assig planing values.According to levels.
1) Material = 10001, Sales office=1100, plan qty = 1000
after that when we try to assign values to level2 manually like
2) Material = 10001, Sales Office=1100,Region=R11,Plan Qty = 500
Then level 1 plan qty become 1500 automatically.
Means 1000 of level 1 and 500 of level 2 also included in it.
i am unable to understand this behaviour of BPS.
any help higly appricated.

According to my scenario if i talk about level two.

when i create selection parameter on Planning area level and assign default

SEM-CPM Cockpit problem with tachomter chart: only one pointer shown
Hello
I'm using the CPM - cockpit design transaction , UMC_CPM_MEAS, to configure a cockpit frame with a TACHOMETER graph. When I use just one data series and compare current period vs previous period for example, I get a correct graph presentation with the two pointers, but, when I use two data series in order to compare them (for example real vs plan) I'm not able to fill the second pointer measure in the graphic design window and obviously the graph shows just one pointer.
Please, help me in customizing the graph correctly.

That is exactly what I was doing, but, the problem is that I can't assign a keyfigure to the sencond pointer in the Graphic Design step. Although, in Graphic Assigment tab I fill information for the second pointer, it is lost and never remains in the definition and of course it doesn't appears at graphic presentation.
As Kai suggest, there is a way to set Use Categories and Data Index, but, where can I do that?, following the step by step procedure to configure the cockpit frame, there is no a step to set up those properties.

Hello All
I have got a web template with a planning layout as a output. When i execute this web template this layout shows data in three pages. Now user wants to download this into ms excel. There is a standard functionality of downloading this via right click on layout area and select export to ms excel. When users select export to ms excel it download only current page not all pages.
This planning layout is ALV grid.
how users can download all pages in one go.
PS: System is BW 3.5.

the SEM 3.5 exam is simply based on an older version. You should take the mySAP ERP 2004 exam (or 2005 once this comes out). The BPS functionality has changed only marginally so it's not really a different, but it's nicer to have a recent certification of course

Can BCS module be implemented individually or is it anyway dependent on BPS module?

Client now wants to implement only bcs & cpm modules and because they are doing planning ad-hocly, they want bps module be implemented later onwards. I didn't understand correlation exactly between BCS & BPS as i'm from non-financial background and I designed many BPS planning applications and CPM applications.

Hi,
Am using standard FMs UPR_COST_PLAN_INIT and UPR_COST_PLAN_EXEC to retract Primary Cost plan data back to Project Systems.
I have set up a sender structure called UPB_SND_COPS, pointing to receiver structure UPB_RET_COPS. I have two lines in the dictionary structure section: /1SEM/_YS_KYFS_005ZARMPP03 and /1SEM/_YS_CHAS_005ZARMPP03 which relate to my planning area.
QUESTION 1 - do I need to put anything in the offset, field length, field value fields?
I have set up the transfer rules in transaction UPB_RULE. This is where I have the problem. I set up the transfers and ran the retraction and nothing was posted to R/3. When debugging I saw that all of the fields I had set up rules for were blank when sent to R/3.
If I go back and, instead of transfering from the sender to receiver structure, I hard code a value for all the fields in UPB_RULE, then it creates records in R/3.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Does anyone have any decent documentation on this retractor?

We have a planning function to copy Versions based with some filters. The copy function takes 5 hours and times out after that. The function is reaching max buffer size as recommended by SAP so we cant increase the buffer size anymore.
We are on BW-BPS 3.5.
How can I solve this time out problem? Please respond to me.Hi Pat,
How many record did you copy ??
Could you restrict the copy in not 1 package ??
Package per package ...
I suggest you ..
e.g. you have restriction by a 0CALMONTH / something ..
Then,
You can copy e.g. for January to March, then March to August, etc.
You can automate it by planning sequence.
Hopefully it can help you a lot.

Problems in BW Report from a Transact Cube feed from SEM BPS
Hi,
I created a Transactional Infocube in BW with 5 characteristics and 2 ratios. After that in the Planning Workbench, I Created a Planning Area, Planning Level, Planning Package, Manual Planning and a Delete Planning Function (That erase the selected register with 5 variables that are defined in the Planning Area). After that I created a Web Interface with the Web Interface Builder and everithing is working fine!!! When I execute my FunctionButton in the Web it erase the register.
The problem is that it creates another register in the InfoCube with the oposite values in the ratios and the same caractheristics instead of really erase the register. When I execute a BW report it shows registers with cero (0) in the ratios in the registers that i have deleted from the Web Interface in BPS and I want that these registers don´t be shown.
How can I do for not showing these registers in the BW report?

When you delete in BPS, BPS does not delete the record but creates the offsetting entry as you have found. If you do not need to know if a value had been there before, you can also compress the cube with zero elimination as well as suppressing the zero record in BEx.
If you suppress zeros in BEx, the records still exist and if you further process the data/package, it will loop through all the records which may zero out and have zero effect but still take time to process. If you compress the cube, it would compact it down to 1 record or no record at all for the sum to zero scenerio. This has less records to process.

BPS adhoch query problem.

My issue is with Adhoc query,We have two queries designed to retrieve data from the SEM/BPS PCP cube (ZZSEM_C35):
Ad hoc - SEM PCP Cube Details
Ad hoc - SEM PCP from MultiCube Details
The first retrieves data directly from the cube; the second retrieves it from the MultiCube, specifying the cube as its InfoProvider.
The first reports "No Applicable Data Found." regardless of the variable values provided by the user.
The second retrieves data with no problem.
But I checked into cube ZZSEM_C35,here request is showing still Yello,it is bps cube,as of my knowledge if request is yellow we cannot do reporting on that right,for this BPS how we are doing .Please any one give me solution.

ReddyCheck in the report if the Request ID is restricted by Most Current Data(transactional infocube) variable. If not, yellow request data will not appear in the report.

Facing problem in Layout-BPS 4.O

I am facing one problem in BPS Layout...
The problem: Some Company codes are valid entire the year and some company codes are not valid entire the year (valid few months in a year)
(Ex:Comp Code:ABC(Valid thru 01/2008-12/2999) and
Comp Code-XYZ(Valid thru- upto 07/2008 only)
In a layout i am entering the two above company codes data on 10/2008, when i click the refresh button the data it's gone from my layout (two company codes data),but it is showing an error message like Company code XYZ is not exist in 10/2008 this is fine but i don't want to clear the my layout .what i entered the data in my layout keep same but in this case it is not working.it's clearing the entire data in layout.
For validation of comp codes i am using char relation ship.the code it is working fine because it is throwing an error message.
How can i keep the valid data in my layout after refresh(after validation),even i'm not clearing the not valid data also,automatically cleaning the entire data.how can i resolve this problem

The problem is that for time-dependent master data, the system is using a 'key date' field (set up for the planning area) to check which master data to make available for planning. If this 'key date' field has been left blank the system is using the current date to check which master data to select. The system is selecting the master data where the current date falls within the validity period.date (i.e. 'valid from' date is less than or equal to 'current date', 'valid to' date is greater than or equal to 'current date').
Using your examples
(Ex:Comp Code:ABC(Valid thru 01/2008-12/2999) and
Comp Code-XYZ(Valid thru- upto 07/2008 only)
On 13/11/2008 you would be able to view/plan data on ABC because the current date falls within the validity period but you would not be able to view/plan data on XYZ.
What you can do to allow viewing/planning on both ABC and XYZ.
1) In the planning area enter a key date e.g. 01.07.2008 that falls within both intervals. Not a very future-proof solution.
or
2) In the master data of XYZ change the validity date so that the 'valid to' date is greater than or equal to 'current date' e.g. valid to 31.12.9999. Again the business may not like to extend the validity date like this.
Unfortunately the 'key date' field allows only a specific date to be input (or leave blank). Ideally if it allowed a variable, then you could have set up a variable that for example derives the first date of the year being planned or the month being planned.
We are having a similar issue with planning on time-dependent master data. We are logging the issue with SAP so that if possible they can create a variable or customer exit that can derive the key date from the period being planned.

Problems with shortcuts when selecting file to upload in BPS
Hi all,
We have a problem when the user is navigating through the directories for selecting a file to upload. When the user navigates between folders it is ok but if there is a shortcut to another disc the program interprets that as a file and then generates a lot of errors in BPS.
This worked only a month ago and the only thing we have changed is a GUI upgrade from 640 to 710. Could this be the problem?
We are using cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_open_dialog for uploading files in the planning layout.
We are on:
BW: 3.5 Patch 17
GUI: 710
SEM: 4 Patch 8

maybe you are using the incorrect file/path separator. Check SAP Note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1266211">1266211[</a> on how to get the correct separator.

Integration problem: BW-BPS and portal reporting (ports)
Hi,
I have a question regarding to the integration of BW-BPS with the new portal. We have a BPS application with several planning interfaces (BSP) for the input of planning data. For reporting we are using the new portal functionality (BEx WAD templates). The BSP pages (ABAP) and the portal (JAVA) are working on different ports. We have integrated relative links into our BSP pages (/irj/servlet/prt/portal ) for the link between reporting and planning.
This was working fine until yesterday when we implemented the new support package 13 for BI. Before, it was possible to execute the portal reports with the BSP port. Now, this does not work anymore. --> Error the page cannot be displayed
The problem is that we are using a lot of these relative links within our BSP pages and they are all obsolete now.
We can not use absolute paths because we have a 3 stage architecture (with 3 different machines and 6 different ports).
Does anybody know how we could solve this problem on the server side (port mapping, etc.)?
Any help would be appreciated.
