CProject 4.0 Task Assignment/ Scheduling Changes

Hi All,
My Question is about Task Assignment with the Role Functionality,
Scenario: I have created a Task A with validity Period 08/1/07 - 08/31/07
and than created a  Role A with validity Period 08/1/07 - 08/31/07, and than hard booked a  resource (Bob) with validity 08/1/07 - 08/31/07 {30 hrs} to the Role A,
Now as a part of Task Assignment I have linked the Role A to the Task A.
Question 1) If the Project Manager now changes the Task A validity Period 08/1/07 - 10/31/07,  and does the scheduling in the project ,Is there any way to automatically shift the dates of Role A to 08/01/07 - 10/31/07 and than the Resource to 08/01/07 - 10/31/07,
Question 2) Is there any Mass tool option to change Dates other than the Table view
Hope I made my questions 2 clear,
Thanks

Thanks Shiv for the response,
You are right, I change Task dates by using the Graphical view, but it will not change the Role Dates, assigned to the Task, as they both are not tied together,
I wanted to know if there is anyway, i can shift theRoles dates using the Task Date Shifting, other than coding
Thanks
Praveen

  • CProjects rescheduling:: Role-task assignment adjustment

    All,
We create a project with phase and task & role with staffing. We assign role-resource to task.
After sometime, we reschedule the project. Dates of project, phase, and task are changed. But the role validity, the role staffing duration, role-resource-task assignment remain unaffected.
    Am I wise to expect
-automatic adjustment of role's validity to the new Project Dates? ('General' tab)
-automatic adjustment of role staffing? and ('staffing')
-automatic adjustment of role-resource-task assignment? ('task')
Have anyone customized in this area?
    thanks,
    Mathavan

    Hello!
We had the same requirement as yours, and we had to develop everything to automatize such needs. It's not available in standard.
For information, we are working on SAP cProjects/xRPM 4.5

  • CProjects-MS Projects Export - Role-Task assignment...

When I export from cProjects, I have data mismatch from cProjects to MS Project.
A task of 5 days is assigned to 3 roles:
    Role 1 for 2 days
    Role 2 for 1 day
    Role 3 for 2 days.
However, in MS Project, the Role-Task-Assignment gets uniformly distributed across all tasks.
    It shows:
    Role 1: 1.67 days
    Role 2: 1.67 dats
    Role 3: 1.67 days.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Girish,
it might well be that this kind of scenario is not supported by the cProjects MSP interface.
I'd advice to check note 1126395 and what it has to tell about your scenario.
    Best regards,

  • How can I display Task's "Resent Changes" or "Updates" or "History" in the project site

    Hello,
When a task is assigned to a team member, the team member may keep sending frequent updates "Status" for the task to the approving whenever he finishes anything in the task. These updates can be shown in the Task Details (in PWA).
My question is, how can I display the Task's "Resent Changes" or "Updates" or "History" in the project site, so ALL the team member can see the "Progress" of that task?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm not sure it is relevant that all team members see all task updates through the project site. It will be a lot of information that might not be relevant and could generate confusion.
Instead of this, I'd suggest to share the project schedule through the project site with regular baselines and eventually to review task update/approval with team members in PWA during a weekly status meeting.
    Hope this helps,

  • Is there a way to prevent the "task id" from changing automatically when a task is moved or inserted?

When moving a task in Project 2010 I've found task IDs also change.  This is not the desired result.  If a task is moved for whatever reason the task ID should not change.  It should be consistent to the task.  For example, I've created
a new project with five tasks as shown on the left below.
I've numbered the tasks to coincide with the task ID as originally created.  If I move Task 4 to be after Task 1 the moved task and all subsequent tasks are renumbered as shown on the right below.
This is not the desired result.  The expectation is the task ID is unique to the task when the task is created.  It should never change after the fact.  I view the task ID as the identity field for the task.  In database terms this means
    it NEVER EVER arbitrarily changes.
A similar problem occurs if a task is inserted between two tasks.  If I insert task 6 after task 2 the task IDs are renumbered as shown.
Again, the task ID should never have been arbitrarily changed.  This creates a referencing problem because task 6 should have had the next available higher task ID which should have been 6 and all the tasks after task 6 would not have been renumbered.
The only work around to this behavior is to create a custom number field called "Task ID" and manually assign numbers to each task.  This makes referencing the tasks easy when communicating with team members.  Using the built-in task
id as a reference risks the task ID being lost at any point and confusion for team members.
Is there a way to turn-off task ID renumbering when a task is moved or inserted?
Ideally any inserted task should be the next higher available task ID.
    Thanks

    Hi,
not sure where to find original post. In RDB, it is MSP_EpmTask_UserView.TaskClientUniqueId.

  • Task Assignment to Ggroup - Group Members Not Getting Email

I have a process with an approval activity with initial user selection set to a group rather than a specific user. I want all selected users to receive an email notification that a new task awaits them. When I assign to a specific user, the custom email template is sent to the user. When I assign to a group, the group members don't get the task assignment email.
How do I change that so that group members will receive email notification of task assignment?
    Thanks in advance!
    Eric

    One possible solution:
You can use our Group Lookup component to get a comma-separated list of the emails of the members of the group. Then, in the step before the User>assignTask step, send the group an email. The only problem is that you won't be able to embed a link directly to the task, because the task doesn't exist yet.

  • How does the assignment schedule actually work?

    Hi,
I have a task sequence deployed to some servers and checking the status of it, it says that "Program Received" but I don't see it in software center. I have it set so that it is available today the 17th with an assignment schedule for tomorrow
at 3:00. My question is what actually is the assignment schedule for? Is that when it will actually be on the client and running?

    Hi,
The available time is when they clients will see the new policy and start to download the requred packages in the TS depending on the settings you have made for the TS and the assignment schedule is when the installation will actually take place.

  • Role - Resource - Task Assignment

    All,
We have a requirement where a cProjects task may spread along for, say, 6 months. Resource needs to work on this task for only 2 days per month, every month (say) (Work - 12 days).
When the role is staffed for 6 months, this resource will not be available for the other projects. And therefore, we want the resource assignment to the task to drive his availability.
Is there a way out? Or do we have to staff the role 6 times (with the right dates)? The second option works, I know, but is not an elegant way to do it.
    Thoughts/opinions.
    Regards.

    Thanks Niranjan for your attempt.
The business isn't quite liking the idea of doing so much when a resource is supposed to be working on the task 2days/month. For every time that the resource is to work, the cProjects user would have to staff to the role (or create a role, as you suggested). Everytime, the dates have to be mnaully entered for staffing, Project Role, Resource to task assignment and so on.
They want this to be done at one place and would like this data to reflect elsewhere. For e.g. when the resource is assigned to the task, this data should drive availability of the resource - is what they want.
Let me know if I am missing on any of the obvious functionalities of cProjects resource management that I may try to resolve this issue.
    Thanks again.

  • Dispatch center - Select multiple tasks for scheduling at the same time

    Hi!
I need a consultation regarding Dispatch center. Is there a functionality to select multiple tasks for scheduling at the same time for one resource?
    Please, guys, this is urgent.
    Jan

You can schedule a single task or multiple tasks automatically directly from the
dispatch center. The scheduling criteria applied come from Advanced Scheduler.
Make Sure, you have the advanced scheduler. With out Advanced Scheduler and by just using Advice, you can only assign one task at a time.

  • Task Assignment Notes in Reporting Database

    Hi,
I am working on a requirement to display task Assignment level comments (entered by Task Assignees in My Tasks screen) in a Report from Reporting Database. I would like to know the tables from where this information can be queried. Please note that the Notes
here are not Task level notes in Project Schedule. Any help in this regard will be appreciated.

    Abhijit,
Please see Paul's reply to your other question, which describes how you can use Powershell with PSI to get this information.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/19824e52-a711-46c1-bdbf-dd7534bd10f7/report-to-list-of-all-proejcts-that-a-user-is-member?forum=project2010custprog
Alternatively, you could also use it in SSRS as a data source, See here:

  • Is this normal? "There are currently no approval tasks assigned to you."

Our site owners encounter the following situation:
     - We are using sites based on "Publishing site with workflow" template.
     - We have used Owners (Permission Level=Full Control) for site managers  and Visitors (Permission Level=Read) for everyone on domain. We also did not add usernames directly, but instead used an AD group (which was added to the SharePoint Owners group).
     - There is currently no users in Approvers (Permission Level=Approve) group.
In this situation when someone from Owners grope creates a page and clicks Submit, he sees Approve and Reject buttons. However he is not able to Approve either Reject and gets "There are currently no approval tasks assigned to you".
I have added the AD group we have used for Owners to Approvers group, the site manages still were not able to Approve (with same error message).
The situation finally got fixed after I have added a user directly with his username to the SP Approvers group. Adding any user directly with his/her username fixes this partially: then the task is indeed created, but someone from Owner group (that was not
in Approvers group when task was created) still can not approve by clicking on Approve button, but he can take over the Task from Task List and then approve...
To my knowledge all this happened because there was indeed no approval task created (that is what actually error indicates). But still I am little bit confused about 2 things:
     - Why someone with Full Control permission can not approve/reject a page (in the end that is just an item from the list with a workflow activated on it)
     - Why there were no task created (I would expect that if there is no one in Approvers group, the tasks would be created for other users with Approve permissions, for example through Full Control right; also situation when there was an AD group is strange,
why not to create a task assigned to that AD group).
Just wondering about other thoughts on this behaviour.
    Thanks in advance!
    Tofig

    Hi Tofig,
As you rightly said, this behaviour is by design.
As far as I understand, the owners need not be given the approver permission considering them to be mostly from technical background.  They may not necessarily be good at content authoring and design and keeping them away from the approver group may
avoid any language related goof-ups (punctuations, grammatical errors etc.)
On the other hand, if they are good at content authoring, the site owners can be included in the Approver group, to avoid getting this message.  This message also goes away once any of the user under Approver group, approves the changes.
    Cheers :)

  • Reject Pending Approval Tasks when Manager changes

    Folks,
I have a requirement , when the user's manager change , i need to reject all the pending approval tasks for that particular user whose manager has changed , not others pending tasks .
Please let me know if anyone has implemented such a requirement .
I'm thinking of writing the logic in Change Manager task in xellearte user prov process , so when manager will change this task will trigger and in this task i will get all the pending approvals by using the 'getPendingApprovalTasksAssignedToUser' but i'm not sure how to identify the user who was the beneficiary of the task .
    Thnx
    Sid

We are using 11.1.1.5 with BP03.
Question - An OIM user can raise requests which can be routed to its manager for approval. The manager may manage more than one subordinate and will have approval tasks for requests raised by all his subordinates. If one of the subordinate's manager changes, tasks assigned to old manager for that subordinate should be rejected. All other tasks assigned to this manager by other subordniates should still be active. Can we fetch tasks assigned to a manager for a particular subordinate?
APIs do give me all the tasks assigned to a user but can we filter them to fetch tasks related to only one beneficiary without fetching all and then iterating through all to get desired result?

  • CProjects Internal Order, Tasks in CATS

I am working on cProjects 4.0
I want tasks (and project) to appear in CATS against which assigned resources would capture effort.
Do I have to have the Controlling Method as "Internal Order (Structure Element, Manual)" to have the project and tasks appearing in CATS?
In case I have the Controlling Method as "Internal Order (Project Definition, Automatic)", don't I get to see the tasks and Project definition in CATS?
My requirement is that the project definition and tasks assigned to a resource in cProjects 4.0 should appear in CATS. By doing the later, my fear is that only the internal order (created/triggered from cProjects) would appear in CATS.
    Please suggest.

    Hi Bittu,
I am not 100 percent get what you mean. The note suggested by Subramanian  should give you about the technical settings to configure the CATS.
From my point of view, it does not matter, which controlling method are used. Certainly you have to check, the settings for the confirmation object, to the task or to the role. The user may get empty work list in CATS due to incorrect settings, but I think internal order will never be showed x in the CAT2 transaction only, there must be a the object of cProject (role or task) as well.
Please take a look my other post regarding parameter settings for CATS profile as well.
    Kind regards,
    Zhenbo

  • Assignment Schedule Vs. When the deployment is available

    Hi,
I would like to just have some clarification on deployment scheduling. I created a deployment but I do not want it to run/install until 2/7/2015. So I have set the assignment schedule on the deployment for 2/7/2015. But I see the deployment start time has
the date I created it. I am worried it will install on me right now because it says in monitoring that the program is received. Can you confirm that as long as I have the assignment schedule set, it will not install/run until then? TIA

"Program received" means that the client has downloaded the policy for this deployment.  If it is available now but required in the future, deployments targeting workstations are shown in the Software Center and someone could chose to run
it early. The only time it would automatically install early is if the user had configured "Business Hours" or scheduled it to install early. Usually, this is fine to allow since the user gets to do it at their convenience any time up until the deadline
    - and if they chose to do nothing, the system will take care of installing it.
If you really only want it to install on/after 2/7/2015, then you should change the available date to be the same as the required date.
    I hope that helps,

  • My Tasks View in my custom task list fails to display the tasks assigned to me (that is the currently logged in user)

    Hi
I am new to sharepoint 2010.
I created a custom task list, where I  have many tasks assigned to users (I had tasks assigned to me as well). I created a view as "My tasks "and having a filter as Assigned To is equal to [Me]. When I do that my view fails to show the
tasks assigned to me. This happens same with the Sharepoints 'My Tasks' view as well. I tested by creating some test tasks under my name and when I selected 'My Tasks' view no tasks are getting displayed.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Gokulkumar.

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to display the tasks assigned the current logged in user.
In my environment, if I used the System Account, My Task view didn’t display any tasks.
However , if I used other users except the System Account, My Task view could display current user tasks correctly.
I recommend to use other accounts except System Account to log in site. Then everything will work well.
    Thank you for your understanding.
