CProjects 4.0 - Project Reason

Hi Experts,
Is there a way we can specify select "Project Reasons" for select 'Project Types". I do not see any such way and all "Project Reasons" appear for all "Project Types".
Summary:
Of the Project Reasons A, B, C and D (say), we want reasons A and B to appear against "Project Type I" and reasons C and D to appear against "Project Type II".
So also for "Process".
Possible??

I cudn't make much of a breakthrough in DPR_ATTRIBUTES.
I wrote to SAP about this and they have suggested we raise a Development Request for this feature to be brought into standard cProjects.

Transferring the data from cProject to PS Project

Hi,
When we create a PS project from cProject some of the field values are not flowing.
1. PS Project is not taking any cProject Project type. Is there any BAdI or Configuration Option available to change this behaviour?
2. Person Responsible of the Project is not replicated in PS Project from cProject. Can We flow this detail from cProject to PS project?
pls help me to solve these behaviours.

Both are unfortuenately not possible.
1. PS Project is not taking any cProject Project type. Is there any BAdI or Configuration Option available to change this behaviour?
>> the PS project type is determined by project profile. And PS Project profiel is determined by customizing, tocde IAOM0, Business Scenario 'CPROJECTS'. In other words, only a PS project type is available.
2. Person Responsible of the Project is not replicated in PS Project from cProject. Can We flow this detail from cProject to PS project?
>> The reponsible of cProject is a BP, and the PS Project responsible is a person maintained in HR. They can have no relationship between them, though the name is the same. The corresponding information is not tranfered to the PS and there is no mapping logic applied so far.

CProjects: Create new project out of a simulation

Hi Experts,
Working with cProjects 4.5, we are trying to create a new project taking as a template a simulation. The projects is correctly created but contraints in the simulation are not copied to the project.
Have you had the same problem? Is it standard behaviour?

Hi Neil,
It is standard behaviour. The reason is that, during the creation, the project get today as project start, so the constraints in the simulation are typically obsolete, because project-start of simulation is typically not today.
If you need such functionaltiy, please check the Badi method SET_DEFAULTS_UPON_COPYING of
DPR_ATTRIBUTES.

CProjects 4.0 - Project not showing though present

Hi All,
I am not able to delete a project type in cProjects 4.0 - it has one project. I am on Support Pack 10 and the system does not allow me to delete a project type unless all projects of the project type are deleted.
I intend to archive and then delete the project. However, the front end system does not fetch me this project when I do a search. The DPR_PROJECT table, however, fetches this project and I see that a project exists.
Summary: Though DPR_PROJECT table shows a project of a certain project type, the front end cProjects does not fetch this project and therefore does not allow any changes of status.
Any suggestion please...

CProjects 3.1: Project phase can be approved without individual approval

Hi Guys,
My requirement is to prevent cProjects phase from being approved if all of the individual approvers have not given their decisions.
I've tried using the customising for phase types to achieve this. Under the setting "Granting of App. with Rejected Individual Approval Allowed" I have specified "Granting not allowed". With this setting, the system will prevent approval if one of the approvers have rejected which is fine. However, if the approvers have not provided their decisions yet, the project manager can still approve the phase.
The following extract from the IMG help says that this setting should prevent approval if individuals have not given their aproval yet, in addition to checking for rejected.
"Under Grant with Rejected Individual Approval whether the approval of a phase can be granted even if all of the approval decision makers have not yet approved the approval. However, even in this case it is necessary that each decision maker has reached a decision."
Appreciate any help on this.

CProjects 4.0 - Project Search

Hi,
There are quite a few ways we can search for project(s), task(s) etc. from the cProjects front end. We require to extend this. For e.g. the requirement is to have the search by a few more critera. By description, for e.g. Is this possible?

You can extend the search help with the enhancement in the IMG:
You can already search the text in the Project Name, this is standard. Searching the Description should be handled by TREX because of performance otherwise it would be too slow to use in a production environment.

CProjects 4.0 - Project ID Generation

Hi All,
The number ranges could be used in cprojects 3.1 to automate the project/ object ids using IF_EX_DPR_ATTRIBUTES~SET_DEFAULTS_UPON_CREATION.
Does anyone know how the project id can be generated using number ranges in 4.0 ?
Also, how this field can be set to display only.

In order to change the behaviour of a particular field on cProjects screen, use Field Control cncept of cProject 4.0
Make sure you donot make any changes in the standard SAP settings that are given. Copy the standard setting to make modifications to it.

CProjects 4.0 - Project Status Report

Hi All,
I am using cProjects 4.0
Under SPRO, I get to "cProjects > Basic Settings > Forms for Printing and Project Status Report".
Please list out the sequence of activities to enable me get and use Project Status Report from the front end. A detailed response would be highly appreciated.

Go to SPRO
-> cProjects->Basic settings->Templates for Printing and for Project Status->Create Temples and then Activate Templates per Project type
After the above settings are done, the Project status report from the front end is enabled and you can view them in cProjects.

Intergation: cProject + Earned value + Project System + Accouting

I'm trying to intergrate cProject & Project System & accounting. currently I'm facing some problems:
PS is generated automatically from cProject (Automatically, Task base, WMS, level = 99).
I don't know how to entry actual start date for each WBS. so POC is zero. ==> BCWS, BCWP is zero too. I think actual start date have to be determined by cats or confirmation from cProject but It is not true now.
can anybody help me?

I'm afraid that u may have to manually enter the actual start of the respective WBS element, as SAP works on the principle - actual start of the subordinate activity can be different from the actual start of the WBS Element.

Difference between SAP cProjects and SAP Project System

SAP already has a solution PS ( Project System ) for managing the projects in an Organization.
When there is a solution already existing then why did SAP come up with a new solution cProjects ?
Can any help me in understanding the main differences and advantages between cProjects and PS ?

I have copied an SAP text below which sets PS, cProjects, (x)RPM and PPM into context.
In the ninties, the Project System was developed within SAP R/3 to provide a powerful application with full integration into logistics and financials.
Target groups were industries such as engineering and construction, automotive, high tech or utilities with focus on project manufacturing or large maintenance projects.
Later on, the need for more flexible and easy-to-use tools supporting the new process methodologies, phased-based approaches, quality gates, and so on, emerged. SAP developed Collaboration Projects and Collaboration Folders (cProjects Suite), which takes these new requirements into account and provides extensive features to collaborate with internal and external partners using a HTML-like interface and Web Application Server technology.
Thus, cProjects was able to address to a broader range of industries, such as service providers, offering a high degree of visibility and flexibility to support various scenarios from product development to consulting projects. Nevertheless, cProjects is seen as a complementary product to Project System, not as ist successor!
It always depends on the scenario that a customer wants to cover, which application is the best choice.
As another matter of fact, combinations of both are also possible.
In addition to this, the new generation of composite applications was born and SAP xApp for Resource and Portfolio Management provides excellent capabilities to align operational project management with strategic portfolio management.

We have copy from function in our material creation and BOM, Is there any way to copy the old project and we can take the same for new project as a Paste entire structure.

Error while creating project automatically from cProjects

Hi,
Need suggestion on creating projects in SAP-PS from cProjects. There is cProjects & SAP-PS interface.The requirment is to create project in SAP-PS from cProjects. All the configuration has done in cProjects & PS module also. While saving the projects & checking the accouting the following error & project is n't creating.
1.Combination company / CO area is invalid Message no. KO124
2.Acct assignment determination is not poss.in the account assgnmnt manager
Message no. IAOM220
3.Only one error message is transferred from the log to the cockpit
Message no. IAOM_CPROJECTS029
I would like to request all to suggest in fixing the issue.

The neccesary configuration for cProjects & SAP-PS interface are as follows.
1. Project Types in cProjects, Object types, Organisation unit with Org structure in line with project profile
2. Activate Accounting integration
3. Object types for object link (WBSE in this case)
4. Accounting integration using cost collector
5. Easy cost planing settings both in R/3 systems & cProjects
6. Project profile configuration in R/3 (cProjects standard)
7. CO Scenario maintainance view determination (Multi level controlling-Project role, automatic)
All the enterprise structure assignments should be same in cProjects & R/3.

Project Search in cProjects 4.0 - Displays all projects

Hi Experts,
Project Search in cProjects fetches all projects - across all users and across all project types. This includes projects of project types the user is not authorized to. Well, the user cannot open any of these projects (unless he has authorization) but he can see all projects.
Is there a way to restrict this? We require users to get to see projects in his search list only if the user has authorization to the corresopdning Project Type. Is there a way?

But I understand that this search is also influenced by the settings that the user does at the front end. What I mean is, if he does not put any such filter, he can still view all projects.
Is there anyway we can restrict the users from viewing? What I mean is, can we put such filters (which the user puts at front end to search) at the back end by which the front end user just cannot see/view all projects?
