CPS Job documentation

Hi,
In solution manager work center, after the change document is created the job documentation is to be generated. One of the steps to create job documentation is assigning the logical component. I'm facing an issue with this step. The logical components aren't getting displayed thus the job documentation is not getting created. What could be the possible solution to this?

Hello Esha,
if I understood your issue correctly your creating the Job Documentation from the Job Chaneg Document, so you are using the ChaRM integration?
In that case you'll have to check IBase assigned to the Job and Change Request. The IBase has to point to a production system.
The program also filters for logical components, which have the (logical) System, i.e. combination of System ID and Client, the IBase is pointing to, assigned in the role production.
So you need an logical component which includes the selected system in role production.

JSM - Creating Job Documentation from Job Request itself

Hi all,
I am still exploring JSM, and I know its possible to create Job Request (Job Req) from Job Documentation (Job Doc).
But is it possible to create the reverse (Job Doc from Job Req) ?
This will be great, if the user is creating Job Req from "Detailed" version (compared to "Basic"), which has similar entries and tabs, as Job Doc.
I did read somewhere that its possible, but I never find any documentation or SCN/blogs on this.

Hi Shahul,
the user triggers the Job Doc creation from within the Incident or Change Request in the JSM assignment block, but then the data from teh Job Request is automatically taken over for the Job Document.
So starting the creation and pushing the save button is manual work, but the filling out the Job Doc is done automatically.

Integration of Job Request and Job Documentation in Solution Manager 7.1

Hi all,
In Solution Manager 7.1, after creation of Job Request, when i try to click on CRM Document number of the respective Job Request, it asks me to Select Business Role instead of guiding it to the screen of the incident management wherein Job Documentation is to be created from Job Request.

I have SAP_ALL with my user id and have also given role "SAP_SM_CRM_UIU_SOLMANPRO" and selected "SOLMANPRO" as well , but in the resultant incident it does not have the tab of Job Scheduling Management from which we can create job document for the requisite job request

Start automatically CPS job waiting event when event not raised

Hi,
You can have another event associated with such job chains(say Event_Force_Start) and define an OR condition in the event expression of the job chain. You can trigger the Event_Force_Start by anothe dummy script that excutes based on scheduled time or a submit frame. Thus yu can start the job at required time irrespective of the event under consideration being raised or not

SAP BPM Job Documentation - Mass Import

Hello,
A few questions regarding the feature of job documentation in Solution Manager Job Management.
When doing a mass import of the jobs by RFC we had the following issues:
1 - The import process takes a lot of time, there are thousands of queries to DMDattribute table. I'm only importing 190 jobs that took around 15-30 minutes. Do you know any note or configuration to fix this?
2 - Because import took a lot of time, the first time we had a timeout of 600s in ICM, and the import process was interrupted. How can we massively delete the jobs documentation? I know that the standard procedure is not to delete, but to change the jobs status to 'DELETED', but still if I could really deleted them and redo the import from scratch would be a lot better. If mass delete is not possible, is there a way of doing a mass update of the job status, from "IN PROCESSING" to "DELETED"?

Does BC-XBP or any other interface provide access to SAP side job documentation (that is visible in SM37 transaction) for third party applications?

Change Job Documentation - variant field viewable?

Hi.
I'm wondering if it's possible to change the Step Overview section of the Change Job Documentation screen to also show the Variant associated with a Command/Report. Would be convenient to have those 2 fields side by side, otherwise a bit of an annoyance to have to click on each step to see the program/variant pairing.

Run your program in online mode in production.
On the selection screen, put all the values you want to store as variant.
Now press the Save button.
You will be directed to Variant creation screen.
Give your variant name.
Save it.. it will ask for "overwritten".. say yes.

Redwood CPS job goes to status ERROR but job works completes ok in SAP

When I schedule a particular ABAP job to run in SAP from Redwood CPS it always completes with the Error status in CPS, but the job runs okay and ends in the Finished status in SAP.
I tried a different ABAP job and this ran okay, with the CPS status going to Completed.
I had a look at the CPS log files for the Erroring job and there were no errors in the 'log' file but in the 'step1/spool1' file there is the line 'Processing completed with errors'. Is CPS doing a little more than SAP as regards checking job statuses and looking in the spool file for errors?
Checked the operator messages and all it says is:
Job 1501323 (submitted from ZGB_FI_KO8G_SETTLEMENT copy from 2009/08/24 15:34:54,250 Europe/London)) has aborted due to at least one error while running the jobs in step: Job 1501324 (submitted from ZGB_FI_KO8G_SETTLEMENT copy from 2009/08/24 15:34:54,250 Europe/London))
- doesn't elaborate why the job has status Error.
Is this saying the CPS part had an error or the ABAP part??

I checked the Return Code Mapping for this system and it is empty. No post running action or a trigger has been configured.
The first time I was having the error was after setting up a 2 step job chain. When I got the error (and the second step didn't run) I then submitted this first simple step from the job definition SAP_AbapRun in case there was an issue with the way I'd configured the chain; it still errorred though. All I am specifying is the ABAP program name, SAP job name, variant and queue to run on, and it does run okay in SAP.
When you say "The actual error should be available in the logfile of the SAP job itself" do you mean the joblog as viewing in SM37? There are no errors in there.
I'll have a play with the Return Code Mapping part as if CPS does search the spool for errors (perhaps by default?) and sets the status to error in CPS, I don't want it to stop the chain - although I guess I can always set the post action of step 1 to 'on error' 'continue'...

CPS job status alert via email

Dear All,
We are using Build: M28.20-37214 CPS version.
So far we are able to get email alert from CPS when any job reaches any final (completed, error, canceled) status.
However in our email alert template we also want to include the date and time when the particular job reached that status.
We have created a new parameter "Time.now" in the Step 2 (email alert program).
In the email template we have used a statement as below.
<p>The job reached this status at : ${Time.now:"EEE-dd-MM-yy"}</p>
As per my understanding this paramaeter should be dynamic and should take value at runtime.
Hence in parameter definition we have used Direction - Out.
By doing all these configuration steps we are still not getting desired results.
Our expected result is as below.
The job reached this status at : WED-03-11-10.
Any suggestions , any inputs will be highly appreciated.

CPS jobs failed

We are on M33.66-60087 and we use CPS to schedule jobs in SAP
We have lot of jobs failed in CPS in a half an hour time window and here is the log.

Can any of you please explain what this could be and what steps need to be taken to fix this ?

1. We are not sure what happened at that time. The process servers were fine in CPS and all SAP servers were also fine at that time. I checked the operator message for the process server and I don't see anything logged for that time frame.
3. There were atleast 25 different jobs got failed in CPS during that time and I don't see any jobs got pushed to SAP during that time frame and all these jobs got ended up in ERROR in CPS.
Here is the log for 1 job

4. The alert emails from the job chains were working fine during that time, so I assume this is just related to 1 SAP process server.
5. The status of the queue is Green but I was not sure what it was during that time.
6. The jobs never got pushed into SAP and they just ended up in error in CPS
All the jobs after this time window ran successfully with no issues.

Creating job documentation from Job request

Hello Esha,
depends. If you run EhP1 of SAP Solution Manager you can use transaction SLFJ instead of SLFN (prerequisite: multi-transaction type handling is setup). SLFJ comes with the correct action profile already assigned.
If you use SLFN or a custom copy of SLFN, please assign the Job Management action profile. See implementation guide (transaction SPRO) for more information in section "Integration with Service Desk".

CPS-Job - Reply on Console doesn't execute the chosen action

Dear Developers
We have a job chain in which we have as default postcondition "On Error
Action CONSOLE RESTART". Now we have a step on status CONSOLE but a
reply doesn't execute the chosen action. This is not the first time we
experience this behaviour.
Any ideas to solve that problem or any workaround?

7.0.3.33 has a known issue where the reply of console is not always carried out.
If this is the same issue as you are experiencing, then the issue is solved in patch 7.0.3.38.
I would advise you to create an OSS message to have checked if this is indeed the same issue.

Job Request - read Z* Jobs and Chains from CPS

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are establishing Job Scheduling Management, using Job Requests and Job Documentation. In addition CPS (oem) is to be used.
If we place a Detailed Job Request, or create a Job Documentation, then we can only select the pre-defined global jobs. None of the self-created jobs or job chains is visible.
For Job Request the steps are:
- create detailed job request -> enter system, client -> tab "scheduling" -> value list in field "Job Definition" at the bottom
For Job Documentation the steps are:
- create job documentation -> tab "systems" -> add a logical component -> mark the system (bottom) -> press button "schedule" -> new IE window pops up -> Change -> button "Select Scheduler" and choose "SAP CPS" -> value list in field "Job Definition" at the bottom
Please also have a look at
/people/martin.lauer/blog/2009/05/28/monitoring-job-chains-with-sap-cps-by-redwood-and-sap-solution-manager how it may look like, this bug makes it impossible to follow this example.
Q: what has to be done to make this work?

Job Scheduling Management vs SAP CPS

Hi Guys
I am trying to find out what are the differences between using the Job scheduling management tool in Solution manager and SAP CPS integrated into Solution manager. What are the benifits of using CPS as opposed to using the "standared" job scheduling tool.

In short SAP CPS is an advanced scheduling tool like which competes against other like UC4, Control-M from BMC etc. But all these tools do not provide any real job documentation or job request functionality in order to get the process governance right. That's where the SolMan gets into the game.
