CPU 1 Vcore voltage error

I'm getting a voltage error every time Retrospect kicks in for backup.
It's not far off normal. Normal is 1.26 volts. But I'm getting this error:
CPU 1 Vcore : 1.21 volts * Warning *
Sometimes it's four email alerts per minute.
I have reset the PMU. Didn't make a difference.
Is this a motherboard problem?

I've gotten the same issues on the same setup (G5 Xserve running 10.3.9). I've been able to isolate this to heat and ventilation. Once the machine was moved to a better cooled and ventilated environment, the errors went away. And Recall that Retrospect is not the nicest piece of software. When it runs it will consume near 100% cpu which will increase internal heat. That makes the fans rev up and the whole unit heat up.
If you have the unit in a controlled environment, try lowering the temp a few degrees. If you don't get a small fan and either blow cool air at the front of the unit or make sure you are venting the hot air. As summer draws on, you will likely see the problem more frequently.
Hope this helps.

  • Boris_m - can you hack AMIBIOS to allow more CPU Vcore Voltage?

I saw you talking about all kinds of BIOS mods and tweaks... so i was thinking - can u mod the AMIBIOS 3.31a (the one that comes with my 645 MAX2-LRU) so that it would be exactly the same only it would allow, lets say, up to 1.7V CPU Vcore instead of 1.6V ?
I would owe you my life if you could :D

Yes i did the mod myself and of coz it helped. Highest i could go was 149 fsb coz my ram is limiting me  :(
And by the way, most of the 1.8a processors need at least 1.65v to get to 133fsb. Of coz if u r lucky, u might get those gd ones which will run @ 133fsb @ default vcore  :P

  • [AMD] problems errors ram with cpu vcore change on k7n2 delta2 platinum

    hello
i'm a french new owner of k7n2 delta2 platinum and i got something strange.
I have 2*512 PC3200 cas3 of kingston value ram with voltage 1.75 instead of 1.6v running in dual CAS 2.5/3/3/8 at FSB 195 like the cpu : 2500xp barton.
With occt and memtest86+ i'm stable with a CPU vcore at 1.725.After 195 the computer starts but not really stable. So i put the cpu vcore at 1.75 to put higher fsb and then i get thousands RAM errors with memtest(even if i stay fsb 195). i tried with cas 3/3/3/11 and it was worst. On the bios B5 i tried with different settings : agressive, optimal, 1/1, auto, manual, patch ddr or not...and always the same. My PSU is 450w noname and i've 4 HD 1player 1 burner & a geforce 5200 o/c 10%.
Of course i'm happy to reach 195 but i feel disapointed to be stop with this problem of vcore/ram because i have not problem of temperature with a silent boost for cpu(52°c maxi), 3 fans for the box(35°c maxi) and copper memory heat spreaders for ram.
    thanks for your answer

the thing to check is the vdimm voltage for the ram ... i'm pretty sure it should be around 2.6 volts .. try upping it one step
vcore is the voltage to the cpu and doesn't affect the ram

"...So i put the cpu vcore at 1.75 to put higher fsb and then i get thousands RAM errors with memtest..." I would say it's not the v. core but the CPU o/c. that gives that errors, as it make not sence to increase v.core only for itself.
    Oh yes it does
The CPU and memory work hand-in-hand. If one is out of sync it can cause the other to start spitting out errors.
You are overclocking and that more of a scientific art, not an exact science.
Components react differently to an entire list of variables, especially the CPU/memory.
What you are trying to do requires trail and error testing however I agree the Kingston memory is holding you back at this point with the clock you are pushing
I would go for the most stable FSB settings that allow Dynamic Overclock to be enabled to SERGEANT before I would go for ultra High FSB because you will peak the system at its highest performance curve when you need the boost, and I would bet money that peak would be higher than any strait FSB over-clock you can hit stable.
Psychologically allot of people think their systems are not running the highest performance it can unless they set the system up at the highest FSB/multiplier and that is simply not true with dynamic overclocking enabled and correctly tuned with the rest of the components.

  • Vcore voltage

Ok just curious, what should the voltage on my vcore be?
i think it's set at 1.5 but speedfan shows the low at 1.39 the high at 1.44 and the average at 1.41.  This is after several restarts and I'm not gaming at the moment.  Might this cause instability?

Alrighty,  I just downloaded Speedfan 4.16 and ran a test on my system to see what results I get.
    I have:
    K8N Neo2 Plat
    Athlon 3500+
    Ballistix PC 4000
    Antec True 550
    Yadda, Yadda, Yadda....
In my bios, I set my vcore voltage for 1.60 volts (slightly over default), yet Speenfan reports it as 1.49 - 1.52 volts ---- with cool n quiet disabled
So it would appear your Speedfan readings would be right on par with what would be the standard default voltage for your CPU (considering the slight error reported by Speedfan)

  • K9N2GM-FIH CPU VCore correct manual settings not possible

    Hello,
I have got the uATX K9N2GM-FIH Board and recently switched from a 4850e Athlon to a Sempron 140.
I am on BIOS Version 3.6.
After changing the CPU I cleared CMOS with the jumper and menually re-entered all settings in BIOS.
    BUT:
The CPU Vcore is stuck at 1.35V, I wanted to lower this setting -> The voltage range from which I can choose is from 0V to 0.4V
    This does not make sense...
I already contacted MSI two weeks ago via the official contact page but I did not get an answer.
    Can you help me?
    regards cdc42

Because the voltage defaults to 1.375V at the moment, if I set up any of the wrong values from which I can choose (0V - 0.4V) then the CPU vcore goes up to 1.45 V, this is way to high.
As I mentioned earlier this PC is used as a VDR as my SAT receiver, so it runs severeal hours a day in my living room. It should be as silent as possible, so undervoltiging/underclocking is my goal. I had to switch from a Athlon 4850e to the Sempron 140 because of the faster HyperTransport of the KUMA Sempron (VDPAU NVIDIA HD decoding), but that is another story...
With the AThlon 4850e I could setup correct Vcore values, with the Sempron it is as mentioned above.
My problem is the bug in this BIOS!

  • Question about Vcore Voltage with 2400XP

Hi i have been to amd site and looked up what VCore Voltage i should run my processor at and it says 1.65v and the FSB at 133MHz
The think is the default in the bios is 1.800 and the computer works fine when bios set at "AUTO" for this.
I changed it to 1.65v and computer will get to just before the windows logo comes up and restarts.
If i put the FSB at 100Mhz the computer boots up fine.
Any Ideas on why i cannot run the computer at full speed with the recommended VCore voltage of 1.65v
    Thanks

  • VCore Voltage problems

    Hello, again...
I've been silent for a while(after I had to RMA board once to MSI and got new one back), just being happy my machine works. But now, after a while, I just wanted to try to get my CPU to a bit more faster settings.
Problem is, I can't get beyond 253 FSB without raising VCore voltage from 1.6 -> 1.7. When VCore is at 1.6, CPU-Z and BIOS Health monitor shows it is nicely near 1.6 volts. But when I raise VCore voltage from BIOS to 1.7 it starts to jump between 1.8 - 1.9, both BIOS and CPU-Z shows same behaviour. It wont drop below 1.8, so it's like I did set VCore to 1.8, but I didn't. I did check..
Now, of course, I could run it at 1.8, but it is a bit too much for my liking, I would like to use 1.7 volts setting. Does anyone else have this same problem?
Is this BIOS problem or what? I dunno, and I do remeber that my last board(which broke) did the same thing.
    Thanks.

Hi Lamy. 253 is nothing to complain about. I assume you are at a 5:4 ratio since your ram is only DDR400, which means you are at it's max rating. At that degree of overclock you are probably overloading your power supply at times. Have you tried dropping to a 3:2 ratio to see if the ram is the problem.
ryede, I'm getting tired of threats from people planning on switching motherboards. Read the rules - there are no MSI rep's here; we are all users. You have one post to your credit with minimal information supplied, and to top it all you are trying to hijack someone elses post. Besides, exceeding 250 FSB is an accomplishment that few achieve.

  • P55M-GD45 Vcore Voltage Help

I've read the sticky, I know about pg up/pg dn and the +/- keys.
My problem is that I can't manually set the vcore voltage in the Cell Menu. It says Auto (greyed out) and when I do pgup I can increase the voltage up to about +.303, but it doesn't allow me to manually set the voltage, nor undervolt it.
I've updated the BIOS to 1.8, but still no luck.
If anyone has any suggestions, please help.

    Quote
I honestly wish the mobo had manual vcore control.
Well, it does.  You said so yourself:
    Quote
"Cpu Voltage" it is either Auto (Grey) or increasing the voltage in increments.
    Quote
I didn't increase it +.303, I was only specifying the limit of what it would allow me to change.
To be honest, I fail to see the problem you are having with the voltage.  That means that either I am terribly misunderstanding what you are trying to say or that you are misunderstanding the way the voltage settings work.
Can you please try to elaborate what exactly it is you are trying to do with the system?  It is irrelevant at this point, what the system will be used for.  What is of importance is what clock speeds you are trying to run the system with, what exact settings result in an unstable system and which settings have been working for you.  Within a certain clock speed range from the default settings, increasing the core voltage of the processor may not even be necessary.  It all depends on what you are actually aiming for.
In terms of current system settings, you have not really told us much so far:

  • DOT + Ultra-Turbo, which CPU vcore setting?

I've got a P2.8C which is running @ 3080Gzh during full load with DOT+Ultra-turbo enabled.
What CPU vcore setting should I use to be sure that it runs stable? I currently have 1.52 and it runs quite stable but prime95 starts to report errors when my CPU temp reaches 69-70C. The CPU fan is a zalman 7000 alcu running @13400rpm.
    Would increasing vcore help?

13000 RPM???  I have the same cooler running at 2100rpm and I don't think I can get it to spun above 3000rpm.
BTW, what memory are you using to get it to run at ultra-turbo?

    Hi Shabeer,
the first thing is that you are running on a very very low RAM.
For ECC 6.0 with dual stack SAP System to run you should have atleast 4 GB of RAM.
For your Dispatcher issue kindly check the status of your Oracle database and the connection from SAP To Database.
You can check the oracle status using brtools utility.

  • Bad CPU cause stop errors?

Does anyone know that a bad cpu cause stop errors in win2k ect.. or what would cause such errors?  Bad memory?/

    Hi,
    It can be anything:
    Bad CPU
    Bad mounted CPU-cooler
    Light powersupply
    IDE cables wrong used
    Harddisk broken
    Mobo damaged
Metal standoff's left between the case and the board

There are probably a few more, but that's about what it can cause it.....

  • Vcore Voltage setting

Hello everyone. I recently had a failed overclocking. I set the BIOS setting according to another user on  another
forum with similar setup. Only thing is I didn't set the Vcore voltage on my board as it is greyed out not letting me
make adjustments. Why is that. other users are adjusting theirs some kind of way. I have the X58 Platinum
which was brand new when I built the PC. 3 OCZ 2gb three channel memory dimms,Vista 64 bit, Intel i7 920.
Anybody care to share a guide to overclocking this board successfully. Tryin to see at least 3.67 or 3.99Ghz.
Well 3.67 for now.  Also guys watch those Radeon 4870 graphic boards. Seems that the double start up issues
I was having after I built my computer was due to a defective graphics card. Just so happens when I went
to pick my PC back up from doing a diagnostic at Microcenter another customer in line had the exact graphic
board and his did not work for him either. Both versions were from Diamond.

Bios 'Set Up' page 3-3. Use your keyboard arrow keys & number pad +/- keys.

  • Changing CPU-NB voltage on 770T-C45. When?

I was tuning the CPU for a local SuperPI challenge when I discovered there's no option to change the CPU-NB voltage in the BIOS. This board also lacks a lot of options its DDR3 cousin has. So my question is, when is the CPU-NB voltage option coming? Are we expecting it in the next BIOS release?
P/S I achieved some seriously good times from this board, even with low RAM speed.

Here's what MSI tech support replied me:
    Quote
Thank you for contacting MSI Technical Support.
I tested 770T-C45 and had CPU/NB Voltage control under BIOS setup->Cell Menu with bios "A7388AMS.859". Please check again. If you still get nothing, please download the latest bios "A7388AMS.859" from our ftp here and flash it for your motherboard to check again. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

It's not available officially, so users who want to try the BIOS should do so knowing the risk involved. Haven't try it myself since I'm don't need high overclock yet.
Here's the BIOS file: Link removed, not for public
Edit: I've flashed the BIOS and discovered that CPU/NB voltage control isn't there. Maybe tech support made a mistake.
