CPU 100% - Satellite C670D-11K

Is this just this machine or is this a common state for these laptops?
Whatever I do on this machine, for example, load a web page or play an MP3 file from the hard drive, the CPU jumps to 100%. Of course, any interaction is jolted... for example scrolling web pages or playing back music files.
any advice? (machine still under warranty)
thanks

In your case I would check the processes running in the background.
You can do that starting the Task Manager.
Check what process stresses the CPU and google for that
Sometimes it could be possible that an internet browser add-on or extension causes such issue.
In my case this happened sometimes using the Chrome. I had some add-ons added to the Chrome and one of the add-ons was not really compatible with the latest Chrome version.

  • How to connect Satellite C670D-11K to my LCD TV?

    Afternoon,
Slowing losing whats left of my hair trying to get my laptop hooked up to my LCD TV. :(
I've purchased a VGA to HDMI lead plugged it into my tv and my lappy and nothing, my brother on the other hand plugs his laptop in via he built in hdmi port he has and the picture appears straight away.
Any ideas/solutions would be much appreciated...

VGA to HDMI adapter would not work because you cannot send a video signal from the analogue port to a digital port (but from digital to analogue).
For such purpose you will need an expensive and special converter.
Therefore I would recommend using another solution. For example connection the notebook to TV using an VGA to s-video cable or VGA to scart

  • Satellite L550-11K - Device manager shows wrong CPU

I have bought the Satellite L550-11K to myself and because stan it has a p8700 processor with 2.53 GHz. However, in the device manager it stands 2 times a T4200 processor with 2 GHz!!!?

    Hey,
I had the same issue that the CPU in my desktop computer wasnt listed properly so I have removed the CPU from device manager (right click > uninstall) and restart the notebook. You have to remove both entries.
After restarting the CPU will be recognized again and this time it should be listed properly. For me it worked. :)
Another question, are you running the preinstalled OS or have you installed another OS?

  • Satellite L550-11k - HDMI + VGA at the same time?

    Hi there,
I have Satellite L550-11k laptop, and i was wondering if i can have external monitor working hooked up on VGA port and HDMI monitor working ( or just audio from hdmi ) at the same time.
I tried and have no luck making it work together.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 as OS, and i think it's not problem related to operating system.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind Regards

I was able to select HDMI and VGA,( my built in monitor turned off ) but as i don't have a third monitor ( only laptop one and one external ) i could not test is there a picture on HDMI output but i can say there is no sound so i assume there is no picture also. I just needed sound from HDMI. Maybe i will be able to test it on summer. Thanks on your quick reply. I was wondering is this is a limitation of the graphics adapter ? By the way, it seems Dynadock is not compatible with Linux operating systems.

  • Satellite C660 11K - Keeps freezing and unable to access Windows

Recently bought Satellite C660 11K and loaded a game on to it, within a couple of hours it froze (ctrl alt delete wouldn't work) I shut it down and started it back up and got a message saying some software or hardware was stopping Windows from working.
I restored it to factory settings with the recovery disk. However I have not loaded any games or other software since, but it keeps freezing and I've had to use the recovery disk 3 times!
I don't know what else to try!

Once I've used the recovery disk it's fine for a couple of days. I've been using the internet when it freezes and won't respond to anything. When I turn it back on the error message I get is ' Windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the cause' it then gives the option of using recovery mode. I triedthe recovery mode before and left the laptop for over 12 hours and nothing happened. After that I've used the recovery disk, but the problem keeps happening

  • CPU 100% When Playing Minecraft iMac

    Hi There!
As the title says, "CPU 100% When Playing Minecraft". Every time I boot up Minecraft the Fan becomes loud. I have another iMac (Late 2013) Model and it runs Minecraft fine with all the same settings. So I don't really no what to do. But if you could help me try to get the CPU usage down or maybe turn the fan down? Or something like that that would be great!!
    My iMac Specs.
    Mac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
Processor: 4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics: AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB
So Yeah, if you could give me a hand, I would be so much appreciated!
    Thanks!

Firefox 3.6.6 Windows XP - often goes to 80-100% CPU even with only one tab open (in this case the one I'm writing this message on). When this happens the only cure is to kill it with task manager and start again.

  • Possible to replace the CPU on Satellite A200-1H2?

Can i replace my cpu (Toshiba Satellite A200-1H2) with another one? Cause i know some laptops can do that.

    Hi mate,
first of all, if you want to loose your warranty then replace it. And I could give you 10 more arguments why not do it because if youre not familiar with disassembling notebooks and without information about the machines hardware you cannot exchange it.
So, generally its NOT possible, maybe with another brands but I think the manufacturers of another brands do the same like toshiba and will revocate the warranty of the machine if you open your machine and attempt to modify the "hardwired" hardware inside of your notebook.

This is the processor and graphic card models.
I coudn't find much, but it seems it's an amd chipset.
You can try [this|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=3253751& rpn=PSC4AU&modelFilter=C675D-S7101&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663] driver.
Go to page 3 and download 'AMD xHC driver'.
If this doesn't work i have no idea. There are no such drivers for this model in the Toshiba Europe site.

  • Satellite C670D-10W - Task manager shows 100% CPU usage

My brand new laptop with factory installed windows 7 and all programs by Toshiba nothing addded shows 100% processor usage in task Manager and works pretty slow. The sum of 80 odd processes shown in task manager never reaches more than 30-50 % but bottom line is always 100%.
Tried process hacker 2, shows same processes as task manager.
    What can be the problem?

If you check this forum you will see that you can find many threads with the same or similar content. Many people have noticed the same after notebook purchase, especially phenomena that notebook is pretty slow. Just without panic. What you must do is to optimize preinstalled operating system.
    What can be the problem?
Brand new notebook is preinstalled with original Toshiba recovery image. This recovery image contains operating system, all necessary drivers, different Toshiba specific tools and utilities and some additional software like preinstalled McAffe or Norton antivir.
Many of these tools, utilities and additional software will start with operating system and run in the background. To be honest some of them can be deactivated, some of them can be also removed from the system. By default Windows update is set to automatic so when you go online all available windows updates will be installed automatically in the background and this will happen without your knowledge. This updates installation will make your HDD pretty busy and notebook operations will be slowed down.
I recommend you to change this option and set it to Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install.....
I hope you understand what I want to say and if you have more questions you are welcome.

  • CPU Upgrade - Satellite P100 Core2duo works 100%

I can now confirm that CPU upgrade from CORE DUO (T2300, T2400, T2500, T2600, etc.) to CORE 2 DUO (T7200, T7300,T7400,etc..)
on Satellite P100 (17", GF7600 GPU, etc.) with latest bios 3.30 is possible and it is working 100%. I tested this on P100-108 with T2300.
The upgrade to T7200 went without any problems and the bios identified successfully the new processor.
The downside of this upgrade is (if we ignore the high price of c2duo:-)) that in order to change the CPU on the P100 series you have
to pull out the mainboard which is a lengthy process (if someone needs help with the disassembly of his/hers laptop
I can post a detailed guide
    for the P100).

    Hello Emil
I am very glad to hear you have had success with CPU upgrade. Can you please watch carefully how your notebook runs and maybe write a short report about usual notebook behavior like running cooling fan. Is now notebook louder and how it works with power saver profiles?
On this forum we do not have exact reports about that and your further postings will be very, very useful.
    Thanks
    Barrie

  • [GNOME 3.4] gnome-shell overview search + gnome-documents - CPU 100%

    Hello
When I type something in the gnome shell overview my CPU goes to 100% for a few seconds even after I left the overview.
The process which is taking my CPU is : gjs-console
With gnome 3.4 you can search for documents via the gnome shell overview, this search is based on gnome-documents. So I tried dis-installing gnome-documents and the problem was solved.
I don't know if it's a bug... but if the gjs-console really is the documents overview search process, it's strange that it doesn't stop when I leave this overview.
What do you think ? Should I report it as a bug ? Arch bug / upstream bug ?
PS : By the way, the gnome-shell extension "tracker-search" is faster and, I think, better for finding documents via the overview.

This behaviour is the same in my box but I don't think it's an arch bug but an upstream issue (its not a bug formally speaking)... maybe it should be reported to the gnome-documents team in order they do more polish to it.
    Best,
