You can install an Intel Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 802.11 b/g/n 2×2 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 combination adapter HP Part No. 670290-001 in place of the Realtek and it would be an improvement. $3 on eBay The video you linked shows upgrading an AMD A8 processor to an A10. The AMDs actually have the video hardware built right into the processor so upgrading the processor also upgrades the video. Yours does not work like that. So other than the the X5492 (150watts), the X5482, X5472, X5470, X5460, X5450 are all 120 watts.

Processor and graphics card upgrade for hp dc5100 MT(EF633US)

Can someone kindly tell me a variety of Intel processors and graphic cards which i can install in my pc coz right now i'm using Intel pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz and Intel 82915G/GV/910GL express chipset. but i would like to upgrade to a faster processor and a graphics card which can play games which require large graphic memory (eg FIFA 2013,GTA 5.etc)

Personally, I wouldn't invest the money to upgrade that PC.
You would be better off getting an off lease newer dc5800 MT or dc7800/dc7900 model that has a PCIe x16 video slot.
The killer for your model is you can only install a PCI graphics card.
Very inefficient and pretty expensive for what you get in return.
After you install the required microcode update, the best processor I know for sure you can install would be the P4 650.

I do not know of anyone who that has installed the 651 or 661 processors and got them to work--even though the specs state they are supported.
You can try the 651 or 661 and if you do, please let me know if they worked for you.

PSU and Video card upgrade for HP e9280t

Hello, I wanted to upgrade my PSU and video card. The PSU I would like to get is the SeaSonic S12II 620 Bronze 620W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151096&Tpk=17-151-096) but I wasn't sure if my computer could handle and hold the PSU. The video card I would like to get is the EVGA 01G-P3-1561-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130604) but im not sure if my computer can handle this too. Stuart, welcome to the forum.
The truth is, any video card that will run properly with the 300W PSU in the computer, will not be much better than the integrated video. Most newer mid-level cards require a PSU with a minimum of 400W watts. I have searched for other members many times without any luck. If you want to upgrade the PSU, it will give you far more options.

Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA-02000R CPU and video card chipset mismatch

can anyone help me with the specs on this laptop.
When I look at the official toshiba brochure for this product it mentions that the CPU Chipset is
"Mobile Intel 965PM Express Chipset"
but the second video card says
"Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GM45"
Which is correct because what I've read on the intel website, the GMA X3100 is used on the mobile 965PM Express Chipset.
Any help will be much appreciated.

To be honest this unit is not known to me but I know that some other Satellite Pro A300 supports other chipsets;

If I upgrade to 16gb of ram, will the MacMini have more grafics card memory ?

G4 Sawtooth Processor and Video Card upgrades

Hi there,
I'm heading for a major upgrade on my G4 Sawtooth 500Hz, starting with processor and Video card, not to mention maxing out the RAM slots.
My main applications are Final Cut, After Effects and Photoshop.
I wish I had more money for a dual processor (or even a G5 – sigh!) so I'm looking at the Sonnet Encore/ST G4/1.4GHz Processor versus the PowerLogix G4/1.4GHz 7455A PowerForce55. I've done the benchmark tests at OWC's site and I'm inclined to Sonnet. Anyone have an opinion between these 2, or even if there's another one I should be also considering?
Should I make the effort and go for a dual processor? because of the clear benefits on rendering time (specially for After Effects)?
Video Cards:
These I think I need more help. Going thru these threads I learned that I should consider the power supply (overheating problems) and that "AGP G4's have either a 208w or a 237w Power supply (PSU)" - I have no idea what I got.

I think I may have written what you've quoted. You probably already know, but you don't actually need a Core Image compatible card to use Tiger. As far as I'm aware, few applications currently make use of Core Image and fewer still actually require it (Apple's Aperture and Motion being possible exceptions).
As PB PM mentions, you have a x2 AGP slot and unfortunately there's little middle ground in terms of graphics cards available. The main options are the Radeon 9800 at one end (powerful but relatively expensive, power hungry, hot running and noisy) or perhaps the Radeon 9000 at the other. It's no longer available retail but they appear on eBay occasionally. It's an AGP card, was available in 64MB and 128MB versions and can support two monitors. One slight downside is that it has an ADC connector (alongside the VGA connector), which the Sawtooth logic board doesn't support, but I believe you can still connect an ADC to DVI adapter cable to connect a DVI monitor. It doesn't support Core Image either.

Upgrading CPU and Graphics Card

I've decided to go for an upgrade on my laptop from dual core to quad core and upgrade the graphics card. I'm looking forward to the release of Diablo 3 and would like to play it with good settings to enjoy the experience more(along with other general gaming).
However, after a good 1-2 hours of googling, I've found next to nothing on what parts I need to upgrade my laptop. I did come across one website but just came back with no results for the specifications I put in.
So it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction or even a direct link to a reccomended part.
I have a HP Pavilion dv6 1210sa. I am upgrading the RAM but already had advice on that .
PS - Would like 2+ GH'z x4 on the processor and 1gb on the graphics card, if possible.

For example, the system board with the best graphics (HD 4650) is $416 on the HP part store above.
If you wanted to install the best processor (ZM-87), that will set ya back $267.19.
So, you can see what I mean by you may bet better off selling and buying one you would really be happy with.
You're looking at almost $700 just for these two components. I don't know what a notebook of that caliber would cost, but I don't think it would be a much more than that.

That is a desktop processor and will not fit in any laptop. Right now some of the HP Support pages are down but I believe you can install an A10 AMD CPU which would improve the graphics just a little. There is no graphics "card" as you might be thinking of. It is a flat motherboard inside the laptop case with all the chips including video soldered on that board. The video comes from within the processor working with helping chips on the motherboard. An A10 processor provides slightly better graphics but nothing that will increase the gaming potential very much. That is a business laptop for doing Powerpoints and Spreadsheets and maybe watching a youtube video or playing a DVD. It is not a gamer. HP now makes the Omen laptop at about $1500 which would handle most high end games.

CPU and CD Drive Upgrade For My DV9408NR

Hello I just got this DV9408NR laptop from my cousin because he went through hard drives on this and he bought a new computer. So far this is a very solid laptop and it is perfect for my needs however I want to see if I can improve a few things without any issues. First of all this is an AMD Turion 64x2 CPU laptop running at 1.8GHZ, I mainly do online video streaming on YouTube and it will play 720p on YouTube seemlessly but I will switch to 1080p or YouTube's new 60FPS video streaming and the video will skip. I know this is a 7 year old laptop but will upgrading it to thee Turion 64x2 2.2GHZ give it that boost to watch videos at 1080P? Also another thing is that this originally has the lightscribe CD-R/DVD-R drive, can I switch to the blu-ray drive without any problems or is it not compatible? Thanks!

None of the BIOS updates mention enabling 4 gigs. I have lived with these things since they were new, and disassembled several, replaced motherboards, reflowed video chips, etc. I started in the Forum before the whole nVidia issue broke and was here in the trenches as it unfolded so I feel like I know them. Most users could not get 4 gigs to work, but 3 will for many. 2 gigs always works.
The TL-64 CPU is the fastest compatible and it would be 2.2/1.8 or about 22% faster at crunching zeroes and ones so it is not to be belittled. It just won't make the video much better. If you were able to get in there and install a copper shim you obviosuly can replace a processor. A TL-64 can be purchased for a few bucks so you have little to lose. My best advice on the shim is to use an old real copper penny pounded out thin and roughed up.

Equium M40x-189: Question about the HDD and graphic card upgrade

As was said before, there is no way to install a 2nd harddrive physically on the machine without it being external. And this model does not have a seperate video card, it is integrated on the motherboard. Which means it would not be possible to upgrade it. Unfortunate as it is, best you can do is increase shared memory in bios and under your virtual memory settings. The Qosmio series from Toshiba does include a 2nd hard drive bay for 2 hdd's though, as well as some have seperate video cards so you can even possibly upgrade those as well. But not the Equium M40x. 600 watt power supply questions and video card upgrade questions

I am looking to upgrade to a Xfx Radeon 7970 Double D graphics card but i was wondering if the HP 600w psu that came with my Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 has a 8 pin and 6 pin Pci-e connector because that is what the Radeon 7970 needs. Also I am wondering if it will fit into the Hp Envy Phoenix H9-1350 because the case seems small but the card is only 9.3" long. I currently have an Amd Radeon 7670 but I think it is time for an upgrade but I am just not sure if the power supply has the correct power connections needed for the Radeon 7970.

I understand you want to know if the power supply will have the necessary connectors for the desired video card.
According to the specifications, it lists the case as a mini-tower which is on the small side. You may need to use a tape measure to find out exactly how much room the system has in regards to length. It has become much better, but other components (such as the HDD) were at the end of the PCIe slot limiting the length of a video card. Sorry I couldn't provide anything more specific. The manuals are somewhat vague as far as the internal dimensions and I don't have access to one to verify the dimensions.
Ordinarily, I can find more information regarding the power supply not that seems not to be the case here. According to this thread, the PSU has two 6 pin PCIe connectors. You would need something like this to convert one of the 6pin connectors to 8pin. As long as the PSU is capable of pushing enough watts, it shouldn't be an issue. The card needs up to a 500W power supply, so the 600W power supply should be just enough to cover it.

CPU & Graphics Card Upgrades

Hi,
I do a lot of video and graphics on my Mac Pro 1,1 and would like to upgrade the CPU and graphics cards. I see the CPU may be a trickier install process, but it looks like I'll have no trouble changing out the graphics card. I'll probably just pay someone to do the CPU. But when buying the gear, do you guys have any suggestions that I should keep in mind? Any recommendations for hardware?

Neo4 Plat CPU and VGA cooling

I've read a lot of reviews and it seems that Zalman is the quietest way to go.

Agree with that GPU cooler
I used to have a Arctic silencer, but the fan is only balanced @100% (I tested 3), therfore to noisy 4 my taste. I put the Zalman on the NBfan connector, and the NB fan on a handy 5v connector that came with the Zalman.
This way corecenter manages the fan speed, which is handy cus the Zalman also blows over the HTT hub hsf 8)
Best cooler 4 ur board is the thermalright XP90, according to this list:

Get a Vantec Stealth or Panaflo fan to mount on it. @stock u should be able to keep it round 1000rpm.

CPU and GPU slow down after system upgrade

Ok, I can't find anything similar to the question I have...but this forum goes on forever
As my system specs appear below, my machine was running quite comfortably a week ago, with same setup...minus the acrylic case and second 120GB hard drive.
At that stage I had "nomal" benchmarking scores 3dmark03 - 5850, Aquamark3 41.000, PC mark 2002 - cpu7020 mem8438 hdd1050.
Life was good and I loved my system
Then I decided it would be cool to upgrade to an acrylic case (which has better cooling with 3 fans) and a second 120 GB HDD to make a striped raid array.
My first concern was the raid Array. I was carefull to buy the exact same seagate hard drive, size etc. the original was only a month old anyway. The second was to use the intel southbridge chip for SATA RAID or the Promise controller? After researching these forums I decided to go with the Intel as it has more possible bandwidth and doesn't sit on the PCI bus.
I got the new case and wearing those stupid white gloves, proceeded to move the components over and trash my "old" metal case.
The windows NTFS format (full) flew by in 30 seconds and I was really impressed.
Once windows xp and all it's drivers and updates were installed, incl sound and graphics etc. I did a 3Dmark 2001 test before upgrading to Dx9...what a bad mark! 3Dmark2001SE - 9950 (terrible for this system).
I thought it was a DX problem...so I installed Dx9
Then opened that corecenter program (the old one, the one that doesn't crash...)
and my CPU was about 5c hotter than usual, it was running at 40-42c (I have standard intel cooling fan). It went up to 55 at times when running PC mark 2002.
This didn't concern me too much a the system was stable at 32-34c and the northbridge read 60c (but we all know that's not true , more like 35ish.
My PC mark 2002 is now cpu4200 - mem4800 - hdd1800
(at least the HDD improved!) LOL
I ran Aquamark3 next...29,900 (ouch!)
Previously my CPU was 8,700 and GPU was 5300
now the CPU read 4400 and the GPU 4600
I don't really notice the speed loss when working, but games and benchmarks tell a different story.
So, My question: What has happened? Why is my CPU power cut in half? and the graphics card slightly slower? The memory speed stayed the same and the HDD speed improved....not a worthwhile upgrade IMO
What went wrong?
Here are my theories.
1) The CPU and system case is getting too hot
Does the CPU "throttle" when it overheats? this could be the reason.
Also both HDD get really hot and the fan in front blows air over them, this hot air could be going over the CPU or GPU. Maybe get 2 HDD coolers?
should I buy a better CPU cooler like the Thermaltake spark7+ ?
2) The PSU does not have enough watts
I couldn't find traces of voltage lack or spikes...but it could still be a problem
3) The RAID0 array is a strain on the CPU and chipset
I'm not sure about this.
My appologies for the lengthy thread, but I wanted to be sure that anyone trying to figure this out had as much info as possible

I will try to re-install the VGA drivers because something strange DID happen when I first installed them. I started with the hercules driver CD, this installed CAT 3.2 drivers. I then upgraded to CAT 3.7 and before it completed I got an error window (send, dont send).
Remove drivers AND ATI control panel first, and then re-install. Use drivers from ATI site, and rather Catalyst 3.7. I Have had problems with 3.8 Catalysts.

Do you have any processes that seem to eat more juice thant hey should? Arrange your processes by CPU usage and see if there is something strange.

I'm using Intel RAID and it works perfectly, no extra CPU usage is shown and it's pleasantly fast!
And Install latest Intel INF updates and Application Accelerator from Intel site. That's what I'm using, and works fine.
