Cpu core speed - please help!

I've just installed a AMD Athlon 3000XP (FSB 333) to my MSI KT6 Delta Mainboard and Core Centre tells me the CPU is clocking at only 1300MHz.  The Bios has defaulted  to CPU Clock = 100 MHz and the Core/Bus Ratio has defauted to Auto (although Core Centre says 13).  This processor is supposed to be supported at 2167Mhz core speed (tested OK at 166 and Auto settings).  How come when I change the bios to CPU Clock = 166 and Core/Bus Ratio to Auto (or any other setting for that matter) my desktop locks up on boot-up?.  Can anyone help me with the correct set-up to get my CP :confused2:U running at the correct speed?  Hopefully this makes sense to someone and I'm not being a complete muppet!  Thanks Andy.

1. 350W says nothing, read the q-tec warning about 550W or more.
Specs (xxA/3.3V, xxA/5V, xxA/12V, xxW combined power)? There's a sticker on your psu where you can find them.
2. Temp may look fine but if the headsink isn't mounted properly hot-spots may occur. The temp-diode doesn't detect them but your system will not work.
But first of all I would suppose that your psu is too weak.

  • Problem Adjysting Clip Speed - Please Help

I have recently purchased this new Macbook and am finding it difficult to get my head around some of the features of iMovie. I am familiar with older versions. My problem is as follows:-
I am editing a video using clips taken with the video setting of a regular camera, not camcorder. The clip are in MPEG-4 formats. I can import and split the clips with out a problem.
However when it comes to adjusting the speed whenever I drag my cursor over the clips the play head follows. When I double click the clip as mentioned in the online tutorials instead of receiving a pop up window my play head begins to play the clip.
Can any iMovie guru please help me with my problem. It would be much appreciated.
Oh and if you are explaining please make your response as user friendly as possible. Still only getting to grips with this version.
    Thanks for your help!!!

You should run software update and get version 7.1.4 and the newer versions of QuickTIme.
However, changing clip speed is not a feature of iMovie 08. You need iMovie 09 for that.

  • Z77A-GD65 Gaming CPU Core Speed Lock 1.6Ghz

Hello everyone,  this is my first time using a MSI board at first I'm using the default setting in BIOS and the core speed at idle is at 1.6GHz which is fine. However, when the CPU cores are at full load it still remains at 1.6GHz.
I've done a bit of research tried different settings with EIST, Intel Turbo Boost, Enhanced Turbo, Adjust CPU Ratio, C1E, but it is not working.
Just to clarify the power settings in Windows is set to balanced.
    Here's my rig's spec:
    Motherboard: Z77A-GD65 Gaming
    CPU: Intel 2600k
    RAM: Corsair vengeance 16GB kit
    VGA: AMD 290x
    Storage: Corsair Force GT 120GB
    OS: tried both Win7 and Win8 64bit
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I'm away from home at the moment if needed I can take some screen caps from the BIOS.

For initial setup, establish everything works correctly at stock/auto/default on all the OC settings. Make sure EuP 2013 and Spread Spectrum are disabled. EIST and C1E enabled is fine, and just try with standard Turbo enabled and Enhanced Turbo disabled. Might try with C-State disabled. Download the utility Intel Burn Test (IBT) and see if the CPU speed ramps up to the Turbo speed.

  • Very slow Broadband speed please help!

Hello to all, I have recently joined BT from Sky and I am due to have Bt infinity installed mid October so hopefully my issue will be resolved then, however since joining BT Broadband I have had appalling internet speeds averaging 0.3 mbps! I can’t even watch the BT help videos online!
My current BT broadband was completed on 11th September and I was told wait 3 days for the line to stabilise which I did with still speeds of 0.3 mbps. I re contacted BT after this time and was told to do all the usual checks which I did. To put you in the picture my router is connected to an extension socket in my lounge and my master socket is located on a window sill in my hall way.
I can’t connect my router to my master socket as I have no power there and it is impractical to do so due to the space on my windowsill.
I was then told that my IP profile or BRAS profile was low and would be looked into. This was and three days ago I was told that they had completed their work at the exchange and sthe peed should be improved. My line now has an IP profile of 0.42 which yes is an improvement but I know my line is capable of more from when I was with sky it was around 1mbps.
I was then told I would have to wait until after a 10 day period from when my line was activated and then call back if no
improvement - Today no change speeds are as follows:Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.36
    Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.1 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.

    Kind Regards

obviously connecting to an extension socket is not ideal and as you cannot connect to test socket you cannot rule out problem with your internal wiring causing the poor speed
have you removed the bellwire from terminal 3 in all sockets?

  • Slow speed, please help

Hi, I have has problems with my line disconnecting due to an faulty extension cable which I have removed but my internet is still slow.
    My ADSL Stats are:
    My Speed Test Result
    My Line Speed Check
Is there anything that can done to increase the speed of my internet?
    Thanks, Alex

there is something causing a problem with your connection as your earlier posts you had an attenuation of 49.4 but now up to 58.  this should be more or les constant with a change when you move to 21CN.
are you connected direct to the test socket via a filter (preferably new one)?  what other changes did you make apart from doing away with extension cable?

  • Stupidly low broadband speeds, please help.

I originally called BT about slow speeds on the 22nd of June, I told them that my Home Hub had been reset multiple times that week (i know this is to be avoided, but i wasn't at home at the time to stop it happening!) and so I told them my IP profile was the problem, and that I needed it reset. I was told they would do it within 48 hours and they would "get back to me". Well, they didn't. What followed was a series of "We will call you back at x:xx on y" which never happened, none of them. I always had to stay on top of them and constantly call them. Broken promises from the very beggining.
Now, I know fine well it doesn't take 7 DAYS to reset an ip profile but after constantly calling them back I've ran out of patience. Quite frankly all of this customer service has been terrible from the beggining when all that needed to be done was to reset my profile, something that should take several minutes, not days. I've now been told on 3 different occasions that my profile has been reset and I'd notice a difference within 4 hours. None of this has been true.
I'd appreciate if one of the mods could help me out here, as I'm at the end of my tether for speaking to CS India about this, they simply refuse to stick to their word.

Router stats are at the end of the post.
I read somewhere that the profile resets automatically after 5 days, but i called 6 days ago, so that doesn't seem to have fixed it either...
    Thanks.

So I am not the only sufferer of the slow broadband from BT.  It appears that there are hundreds of us suffering with a poor connection and getting little or no resolution from BT.
Personally I wish I had never bothered taking the new homehub3 and vision box.  I should have cancelled my contract with BT and told them to put their routers and poor customer service where the sun doesn't shine, they might have got that right!!
But here I am stuck with a 12 month contract for a wireless router that cannot maintain a wireless connection.  I am now on router number 3, my line has been tested and doesn't have any interference. The speed into the socket in my porch achieves 8mb but somehow between that socket and the cable plugged directly into it and the BT homehub 3 my service plummets through the earths core and ends up in Australia!
To say I am cheesed off would be an understatement.  To write this post I have had to reconnect to the router 10 times!!!!!  What is the point of wireless when it doesn't work.
Customer Service have left me a voicemessage saying they will be contacting me in regards to my complaint letter and demand for compensation but have I heard anything, NO!!!
BT need to get their act together before they lose all of their customers, and be assured I am making a lot of noise about their lack of performance on every forum I am on.
BT you are going DOWN!!!!!!    Hopefully you'll find my wireless connection when you get there!

  • Getting a Higher CPU Core Speed

my BH-5 is stuck @ 220 mhz due to not enough vdimm on the mobo..
can i use a divider ( what would be best ) to see how far the CPU can go.???

Yes, i would suggest it. You'll notice almost no performance loss using the divider, and with the higher FSB setting/lower multi it will improve performance actually. It works for me anyway, good luck.

  • AMD Athlon 2400+ core speed

I have recently purchased a new MSI KT4 Ultra (FISR)
MS-6590 motherboard and an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor.
However the motherboard is only picking up the processor to be an AMD Athlon 1800+. When I go into the bios and look at the CPU core speed it is set to 100Mhz when it should be 133Mhz. I would change this value but it is disabled (greyed out). How can I set my motherboard to use the processor correctly asa 2400+ ?
    Thanks
    Paul

Hi, i have similer problem, i have the same MB and chip the 2400xp and when i put it on 133mhz and 15x multi which is stated on the MSI website and save it in the bios, my monitor light flashes, its like my graphics card is not working, but i can hear my pc booting up, but i just can't see anything, i have updated my graphics card drivers and the bios for the MB but still no luck, i have to clear the cmos to get my monitor back but then the chip speed is back to 1800.
i have a ti4200 8x agp card and i am a little miffed as i didn't buy a 2gig chip to have it running at 1.6gig, does anyone have any idea.

  • Problem... High CPU load with HDD. Please Help

    Hello all,
Im stuck. Ive got a MSI KA790GX which has poor HDD access/transfer, low burst rate and very high CPU load.
As far as i know the Western Digital 640gb WD6401AALS Black should be a fast hard drive. Which according to reviews/HD Tune,
    should be:-
    Minimum 60mb/sec
    Maximum 120mb/sec
    Average 95mb/sec
    Access 12ms
    Burst 110mb/sec
    CPU 5%
No matter what I try, i always get poor results...
    My MSI KA790GX
    Minimum 41mb/sec ~ 54mb/sec
    Maximum 104mb/sec ~ 108mb/sec
    Average 86mb/sec ~89mb/sec
    Access 12ms
    Burst 60mb/sec ~ 80mb/sec
    CPU 26% ~ 44%!!!!!!!!
I could accept not getting the same high speed results as the review/reference, even if the burst rate sucked.
But one of the cores goes to 50%-60% load during hdd activity. Thats just crazy!!
    I have tried...
IDE mode, AHCI, RAID Ready, RAID Single Disk
    SATA Port 1, 2, 3, 4 + 5
    Different SATA cables
Flashed bios, cleared bios, optimised defaults, failsafe defaults
Windows XP 32bit, Vista 32bit, Vista 64bit. fresh installs
MSI CD Drivers, MSI Web Drivers, AMD/ATI Web Drivers
        ... and combinations of.
I have also tested the WD640gb Black on another older PC, with Nvidia (55?) chipset and slower (1.9ghz x2) cpu.
Transfer rates were slightly better than my KA790GX but, Burst Rate = 115mb/sec and CPU usage = 13%.
I also tried a Seagate 1.5tb (ST31500341AS) on both PCs,
    Nvidia chipset
    Minimum 65mb/sec
    Maximum 134mb/sec
    Average 107mb/sec
    Access 14ms
    Burst 83mb/sec
    CPU 7%
    On my MSI KA790GX
    Minimum 55mb/sec
    Maximum 120mb/sec
    Average 100mb/sec
    Access 14ms
    Burst 87mb/sec
    CPU 33%!!!!
Could someone please please help, ive spent hours and hours on this. Its doin my head in.
I just hope its something stupid ive missed, cos i still not used my HD4850 from christmas :-(
    Thanks.

Not sure how to check PIO/DMA mode on a SATA device. IDE devices show DMA enabled.
    BIOS version 1.4 - 29 December 2008, and now version 1.51
    Fredrik
I have Vista 64, but i did try XP32 and Vista32 and got similar poor results.
I tested HDD speed with, HD Tune 2.55 and HD Tune 3.50 trial.
No auto-start programs really, Windows clean installs + any drivers.
    Quadrifoglio Verde
CPU @ default 2800mhz, All mem bios options to auto/defaults
Windows Experience Index, CPU Score = 5.3
    AMD Overdrive
     Integer Computation = 8220
     Floating Point Computation = 5325
     Memory speed = 1770
     Cache Speed = 10790
     System Performance = 7403
    Bas
I used HDTune because I could reference to other results. Whats a better program to use?
Windows Experience Index, HDD Score = 5.9.
But I have no reference and cant be sure of cpu load.
    Sepher
Bios defaults to C&C and C1E off so i have tried them. Also windows power settings, balanced/high performance.
    UPDATE
Reinstalled Vista64 but loaded the AHCI driver from the disk config screen. This seems to have stopped the high cpu usage during disk activity.
HDTune with Windows Power settings @ High Performance,
    Min = 52mb/sec
    Max = 106mb/sec
    Ave = 88mb/sec
    Access = 12ms
    Burst = 77mb/sec
    CPU = 3.4%
HDTune with Windows Power settings @ Balanced
    Min = 54mb/sec
    Max = 104mb/sec
    Ave = 87mb/sec
    Access = 12ms
    Burst = 65mb/sec
    CPU = 12%
So now transfer speed is about 10% slower than reference. But burst speed is terrible.
I also used IBM Feature Tool to change the HDD AAM to 'performance mode' 254 as suggested elsewhere.
Long shot as the hdd performs ok with other hardware. same results.
Also MSI support asked me to try a newer bios, version 1.51. same results.
Anyone know what the AMD 7-Series Chipsets Disk Performance Utility does, and should i run it in Vista64?
Thanks for all the replies, hope i can sort this, not played any PC games since Quake 3 on my ti4600...

  • IMovie Clip Speed Issue! Please Help!

    Hey Guys.
I have been having a weird issue with iMovie '09. Here are my current iMovie and computer specs.
    IMovie '09 - Version 8.0.6 (821) Latest Update
    *Running on:*
    Macbook 5,1 (Latest Updates)
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
Processor - 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory - 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Purchased a little over a year ago.
    *My Problem:*
I start a new project in iMovie, I import the footage from my camera (Sony Webbie HD MHS-CM1 Camcorder - 1080p). iMovie imports the footage into 1440 x 1080 .mov files.
When I drag a event clip into the project area. I am able to preview the project as I work on it in the top right hand corner. Next I want to speed up the clip to make it fast forward. I click on the clip in the project, it highlights yellow. I click on the gear in the bottom left hand corner of the clip and click on clip adjustments. If I adjust the speed to any speed, even if I check reverse and I click okay. I preview the project and the preview in the top right corner is frozen at the first frame of the clip. The sound plays from the clip and regular speed. The clip in the project can no longer be adjusted or even selected. All I do from there on is delete the clip, I can't do anything and I am forced to restart the project and do it all over again, which wont work. The problem is I really need to use the clip.
I have tried to restart iMovie and even the computer, but it does nothing.
Please help me fix this problem.
    Thanks,
    Kyle

Right click on the clip in your Event and see if it gives you the option to Optimize Video. If so, optimize your video and it should be able to do the speed changes.

  • Fan speed problem Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC - please help

Please HELP, I have a fan speed problem with my Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8 GHz PowerPC
This is a NOT an Intel machine. I am running Mac OS X v10.5.8
    Power Mac G5 - PowerMac 7,2 - Power PC 970 (2.2) - 1.8 GHz with 2 CPUs - L2 Cache (per CPU) 512 KB - Memory 8 GB - Bus Speed 900 MHz - Boot ROM version 5.1.5b1
I have included below Links to download a sound file (.m4a) that I recorded of the fan speed problem and both a .pdf and .spx files of my system profile.
    download sound file
    http://homepage.mac.com/rep3/filechute/myG5dualsFans.m4a
down load .spx file of my system preferences
    http://homepage.mac.com/rep3/filechute/systemProfileREP3-G5dual.spx
down load .pdf file of my system preferences
    http://homepage.mac.com/rep3/filechute/systemProfileREP3-G5dual.pdf
When did the fan problem start?
After I replaced the mother board on the computer.
Why did I replace the mother board?
Because the experts at apple agreed with my diagnosis that the major crash problems & kernel panics must have some thing to do with a logic board gone bad. They would not work on it, because this Power Mac G5 dual 1.8 GHz machine is now a legacy model.
What I have done to attempt to fix my fan speed problem? yes I checked the obvious things, here is a list:
    1) yes I checked to be sure that the new mother board was the same part number as the original one, and that all things that were unplugged from the old mother board - were actually plugged into the new mother board.
    2) all the fans work, I can see them spinning if I use a flashlight and look at them (cover on and off to get at some of them)
    3) check all RAM to make sure: a) it was installed properly b) that the RAM worked using TechTool Pro c) even started the machine with only the original RAM that came with it.
    4) I installed a Temperature monitor - to see if there was something reading as very hot inside that was causing the machine to continually run the fans at a high speed. No, no heat issues that I can see. Here are the reading from the sensors in degrees fahrenheit, 2009-10-11 16:11:01 -0500
    CPU A Die Temperature: 75.7℉
    CPU B Die Temperature: 81.5℉
    Drive Bay: 68.9℉
Main Logic Board Air Inlet: 64.8℉
    Main Logic Board Ambient: 73.6℉
    Main Logic Board Backside: 76.3℉
    Memory Controller Heatsink: 93.2℉
    Processor Card A Ambient: 77.5℉
    Processor Card B Ambient: 77.0℉
    5) zapped the PRAM
    6) followed the SMU reset instructions for
    Power Mac G5 (Late 2004)
To reset the SMU on a Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer, simply do the following:
    • Turn off the computer by selecting Shut Down from the Apple menu or by holding the power button until the computer turns off.
    • Remove the power cord from the computer.
    • Wait two minutes.
    • Plug in the power cord.
    • Turn on the computer.
    7) followed the SMU reset instructions:
    Resetting the Cuda/PMU
    How to reset the PMU:
    • If the computer is on, turn it off.
    • Disconnect ALL cables from the computer, including peripherals and power.
    • If possible, move the computer to a place where you are not standing on carpet.
    • Open the case and ground yourself by touching part of the metal frame inside the computer.
    • Find the Cuda or PMU button
    • Press the Cuda or PMU button ONCE. Do not press the button more than once before starting the computer up again.
    • Wait 10 seconds, then reconnect the cables you removed in step 2 and turn the computer on.
    • If the computer still does not respond after resetting the PMU, the computer may require service from an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
    8) ran disk utilities, repaired permissions
    9) found a setting in the system preferences that a chat room person suggested had something to do with fan speed. In Energy Saver, under options, processor performance was set to highest, I set it to automatic - this did not change anything that I could tell - BTW I checked my other G5 (a single processor that works fine) that is the setting that that it is set to, and it is nice and quiet.
    10) restarted the machine, ..
    11) found a Fan Control System Update - but it did not install when I tryed to install it -
    12) booted from OSX install disk and ran that disk utility
    13) used OnyX to fix disk permissions, clear caches and temp items
Nope - still have the same high speed fan problem. ... PLEASE HELP!!
I have been reading in the MacInTouch reader reports - found this: some one said to use this - thermal re-calibration using the Apple Authorized Service Providers' disk - but that's not available, at least I can not find it - anyone? have an answer to finding this - or can do it for me? I am in Chicago.

The Genius at the downtown apple store said that because it's a "legacy machine" they would not work on it, .. so should I push them?
Well, I personally think that's ridiculous, I'd Push them, I'd call AppleCare & talk up the chain if need be... there the ones that have or should have that Disc... man o man... Personally I'll never visit an Apple Store again in my lifetime, maybe try an independent AASP if none of that helps!..
    http://tinyurl.com/ykomqkn
Man-o-man, pop my cork before I explode on that one, if I had anything to do with it I'd close that store.
