CPU fan isn't working on Hermes 845GV full and Lite

well
i have here an hermes 845GV and when i switch it on, the cpu fan starts for about half an second and stops then, same problem with the lite version.
so, can this problem be solved or do i have to send it back to msi? (both comps are new)
thx schBORG

it works fine, except the cpu fan isn't working, it only starts for about half a sec when u switch it on, when u connect the cable with the plug for the 2 side fans it works fine, but when the cpu fan isn't working, the cpu gets too hot and the computer crashes, and so the os installation is destroyed, that's the reason why i found that problem

  • SSD as second hard drive, now CPU fan isn't working?

Warranty issues aside, I recently installed an OWC 115GB Mercury EXTREME Pro SSD as a second hard drive in my 27/i5 Mid 2010 2.8GHz iMac.  I did not change any other configuration setting and the original hard drive is configured as shipped.  After shutting everything up the internal fan(s) spin extremely loud (especially on the left/cpu side as you are facing the screen).  I installed istat pro and while the temperatures look good to me, it says the CPU fan is not running.  I've been searching online for days and can't find anyone else that has the same problem.  I've taken the iMac apart twice since the problem started and can't find anything broken, connected upside down, or plugged into the wrong spot.  Has anyone by chance run into this before?  Thanks for the help!  I posted a copy of the istat readings below.

    Hey,
I heard something about this problem with 2009/2010 imacs: putting in harddrives by your self causes problems with the fan (spinning at full speed all the time), because they are using special harddrives that have a heat sensor built in. without this built in heatsensor, the system doesnt know the temperature of the hardware and runs the fan full throttle just to be sure it doesnt get to hot.
i only have a german source for this though: http://www.macnews.de/mac/imac-2011-festplatte-lasst-sich-dank-proprietarer-appl e-firmware-nicht-austauschen-173448
According to that source there are two ways to fix the problem: eather you use a harddrive that carries a built in heat sensor, or you put in an externel heatsensor.
aaah: just found an english source:

this should be your issue. i hope i could help!

  • CPU fan plug stopped working

I started my rig the other day (actually about 3 weeks ago) and the cpu fan was not moving.  Tried a few things but finally stuck the cpu fan plug into the sys1 fan slot and its now working.  Will this be a problem in the future or will the mobo be fine without the cpu fan plug not working?
Everything else seems to be working fine - any suggestions on what to do?

I see no problem on not having your cpu fan plugged directly into the cpu header... but it may just be a tempory fix for an underlying problem. Any stability issues? Also if that header dies you can always plug directly into the power supply 4 pin to 3 pin cables are not hard to come by.
    Good Luck

  • Laptop Fan Replaced But Fan isn't working

Hello Hp forum members, a few months ago my laptop's fan suddenly stopped working (the cause was probably lack of cleaning so the fans were clogged and ended up destroying its own motor) and I received the error messages on startup. So I got my fan replaced but now the error messages are gone but my fans aren't even on so I still have an overheating problem.
My laptop's model is Hp Pavilion DV6-6136TX
    15" display
    2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.0GHz CPU
    4GB RAM
    640GB HDD
ATI Radeon HD 6770M with 2GB Dedicated Graphics
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
I've had this laptop for 2 years and It is like family to me. Please help me find a solution to this I've been trying to fix it for 2 months and I'm really desperate.

  • Satellite A110 shut down suddenly - CPU fan is not working

    Hello!
The CPU fan on my brand new A110 is not working. The notebook will shut down suddenly, without hibernation or standby for any CPU consuming activity.
Can it be linked to a configuration/ software problem? If so, how to check it?
    Many thanks.

    Hi
For me it seems like a hardware malfunction. If the fan does not work as it should then it has nothing to do with the software.
The A110 seems to be a very new unit and I dont think the dust and debris are responsible for such automatically shut downs.
Why you dont take your warranty??? If the warranty is valid everything should be checked and replaced for free

  • Sorry, BIOS is Rev 1.0, CPU fan RPM still wont show, on Promise SATA and I have no activity led??

Yes, everything is properly connected, CPU fan is on CFAN1 and the HDD is on the Promise and the front panel led connector is properly connected.
Anyone know what the heck is wrong?? maybe my board has LED on VIA and not Promise opposed to Promise having it and VIA not??
and why won't my bios display the damn CFAN1 RPM's??? I tried every connector also.
    any help?
    thank you

Ok, this is weird, the HDD led connector was connected as directed in the manual, black (ground) on pin 1 and red (+12) on pin 3, whats weird is that I flipped it upside down (red on pin 1 and black on pin 3) and now it works, that just weird but at least it works now. every other connector works when connected normally, funny that I have to flip the HDD led connector upside down haha.
Anyway, still can't figure out the CPU Fan RPM, why it displays 0 while the Fan is actually running?? I don't know why.
Have you heard of that problem??
    Thanks again guys.

  • Family share isn't working - we set it up and it was working fine for a few weeks then in the last few days it's stopped, we can't see the other members in our family share and it says we aren't set up but it doesn't allow us to confirm and reset up

Help!  We set up family share a few weeks ago, and it was working fine with the organizer and two additional members.  The three of us could see each other on app and iTunes stores and could view each other's purchased items.  Then ... All of that disappeared.  We cant see each other's profiles any more and we definitely can't view any purchased items.  In addition, when we try to go in and jump start by downloading a free app or logging out and back of itunes, nothing works.  It seems to show we have family sharing in the iCloud settings, and when we click the Apple ID it asks us to confirm, and we confirm, and are asked if we want to change accounts because then we trigger the 90 day freeze period.  And we aren't changing any accounts - just trying to confirm the same accounts to get family share to work!  We are all on the same ios 8.1.3 and os, so I don't know what else to try!

No, I am a media professional who uses his MacBook Pro to connect to external monitors, and needs to continue to do so.  I don't want Apple TV.  I want my laptop to work again, like it's supposed to.  Like it used to.
I have a demonstration this week at work that requires me to plug into an LCD screen and I am hoping to have this resolved by then.  I am trying to convince my department to buy a Retina Mac and thousands of dollars worth of video software for live shows, and if I can't make it work, then I can't exactly convince them (or myself) to buy what I have been researching.
Again, I don't want wireless video or Apple TV.  I don't want to buy any more stuff.  I want to know why my Thunderbolt to HDMI cable stopped working after my update, and how to fix it...preferably before this meeting.

  • HP Laptop Fan Isn't Working

I have an HP Laptop, model G62-367Dx.  A couple days ago, my laptop would turn on, work for 15-minutes, then freeze and shut down.  Looking around on the internet, I found forums suggesting my vent and fan may need dusting.  So, I bought compressed air and dusted out my vents.
After cleaning my laptop, I tried turning it on, only to find the same results.  When I restarted it, I saw the following message on the screen:
"The system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly.
Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior that could result in random shutdown, data loss or possible system damage. The system will shut down in 15 seconds. To prevent shutdown and continue operation, press the Enter key now.
    System Fan (90b)"
While my computer was running, I examine the fan to see that it was not turning at all.  Is there anyway I can get the fan turning again?  Or do I have to replace my fan or computer?

I am also facing the same issue and the same error as you explained. Can any one help...

  • Phone isn't working but lights on back and home buttons are on

I'm not sure what's happening with my phone. I can't get anything to come up on the screen. I hold the power button down and the home and back buttons at the bottom just blink. I tried plugging it in to charge but nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?

This is what happens when the screen is locked.  If you can swipe up to unlock the screen (or enter your passcode, or do whatever you have set as security, default is just a swipe up), then hold the power button down, you should get options to power down, start airplane mode, etc....  If the power button is held down and the main screen is locked, the blinking home and back buttons are all you get.

  • CPU Fan Alarm

I just installed a KT3 Ultra.  Every time I boot the system, I get an audio alarm and a text message telling me that the cpu fan isn't working.  I can see that it is, and cpu temp is stable at about 49 degrees.  What is going on?

is it plugged to the board or direct to psu
some like the tmd vantc fans boards can struggle to read
just disable cpu fan detection in the bios

  • Fan doesn't work

I have a ENVY 17-j161ea and suddenly one of the fans doesn't seem to work anymore. When I play a game, the laptop reboots and I get a nice screen before boot that it is dangerous to continue because one of the fans isn't working.
I am currently monitoring the temp and the CPU is runing at +/- 65 celcius with no load. I don't dare put any load on it...
The laptop is 11 months so just within warrenty however I would like to know what the odds are that HP will fix my laptop...
I removed the recovery partition and added an additional SSD where I installed win 8.0 on. The laptop is officially not supported for 8, only 8.1.
I had to to use my own OS because they didnt support installing the original OS on my own SSD...
I also "abused" the laptop when it came to usage. I rendered a lot on it. Some days it was rendering for 8 hours at 100% CPU. In addition to this I also am a chess player so the laptop is calculating some moves which can take a few hours and also requires 100% CPU.
I am worried that because of my SSD, other OS, removes recovery partition and over usage HP will simply say it was my fault and it's not a hardware fault and those fans are not designed for such a purpose.

    Hi @Passero,
Thank you for your inquiry, I will do my best to help!
I see that you are getting a fan error after you have been playing a game for awhile.  Here is a link to System Fan (90b) error message on startup that will guide you through trying to resolve this difficulty.
I understand that you have made some changes to your notebook.  If you were to remove the drive that you installed and just have the original drive in the notebook with the original OS, I think you would still be entitled to warranty.   Regardless it is worth a phone call.  Worse case scenario would be that they say no. I do know they would ask you to have only the original drive installed with the original OS.

Here is a link to the HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 Notebook PC HP ENVY TouchSmart 17 Notebook PC Maintenan....  It will have a list of all recommended replacement parts.  The fan is listed as item 13 on page 30 or Chapter 3 page 20.
