CPU for M57P

I have a M57p Lenovo Think Centre 6395 and I wanted to update the CPU, a friend gavce me an E8500 Dual Core and I added it in. The machine goes through the Boot setup but stops and says error with CPU code but, if I hit the F2 button for resume, the computer continues to boot and goes into Windows 7. I have since found out that only the E8400 will be accepted straight off by this machine, a shame.
I would like to know if it is possible to somehow use the 2RKT64A Bios File listed also for the M57p so I could update the CPU code as that is what is listed as the first fix for this Bios. I know I am clutching at straws but I would not like to have to go out and by a E8400 when I have a pertfectly good E8500 here.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Pendaws,
Installing a bios update not made for your machine is risky. in the best case scenario it won't install, in the worst it will brick your bios and destroy your motherboard.
There is no official way of bypassing the whitelist that I know of unless using unoficial bios wich can't be discussed here.

We solved our problem it was caused because we were routing in and out the same L3 interface.
Fixed this issue and our CPU dropped dramatically.

  • After installing 10.5.6, finder and quicklook server hog cpu for 10 minutes

I installed 10.5.6. Now upon every restart the Finder and Quick Look Server use 60-80% of my cpu for 5-10 minutes. This means that I can't really do anything until these processes are done because they cause constant delays. This did not happen in the previous version of Leopard, and if it's intentional on the part of Apple, it's a mistake. Very very annoying. Any ideas how to get this to stop?

    stuartwgibson,
    How did you install 10.5.6?
If you used "Software Update," you might want to try installing the Mac OS X 10.5.6 Combo Update.

  • Doc2text process using 100% cpu for way too long

I've run into this issue before, and have never received a satisfactory resolution.
When we publish certain PDF documents via collab to the KD, the doc2text process on our portal servers (also our API servers) spin up to 100% CPU for about 90 seconds. This causes the publish from collab to fail, so we resort to directly uploading the file to the KD via content upload.
    1) Why is doc2text running on our portal servers in the first place? Is this a result of the portal server or api service? If i move the API service off to another machine, will that remove this CPU hog from our front end servers?
    2) Has anyone seen this before, or found a way around it? Is there a newer version of doc2text in 10gR3 that isn't so terrible?
I'm preparing to move to 1-cpu virtuals in our new environment so any process that takes up 100% of the CPU is going to kill performance.

Doc2text is native search client functionality used by portal, automation, ws, collab, publisher, etc. The portal components use it when indexing content to search server. It is installed seperately with each portal component. If you have multiple portal components installed on the same box, the ones that use Doc2text will share it from the common folder where it is located. Doc2text uses different libraries for the purpose of raw text extraction and processing, the processed information being sent in a proprietary format to the search server.
Doc2text is a processor heavy component as it needs to execute intensives tasks necessary to parse and extract raw data from such file formats as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Some files may be more complex to extract data from and take longer for this task to complete.
The best way to increase performance would be to install the various portal components onto their own machines. For example not installing portal and automation on seperate servers. This way when you run a crawler job that imports files, the running of doc2text will not use cpu cycles on the portal web server.

  • Should I trade 2,6 Ghz CPU for a 3,0Ghz?

    Hi all.
I currently have a 2,6 Ghz, that i'm very happy with.
I do run a sllight OC on it (FSB 218) to get the most out of my RAM
However, I've been offered to trade a 3,0 Ghz 800FSB Nortwood C CPU for my 2,6 800FSB Northwood C Cpu.
i know, that the 3 gig's don't OC very well (because of the heat i guess), but I'm not into heavy OC'ing. But i DO want to run my FSB at at least 216 ratio 1:1.
Do you guys think that the 3 gig will run at FSB 216 with air cooling.
The batch no. for the 3gig CPU i've been offered is sl6wk
Should i trade, or will i be better off with my current 2,6C CPU?
-Any comments would be much appreciated
    thanks in advance

Thanks a lot for your replys - i appreciate it.
Approx USD $10 are to be paid by me (keep in mind the prizes in Denmark are very high compared to US prices. A 2,6 GHZ CPU like mine is USD $200+). However,  the CPU is still within warranty (it's just one month old -my 2,6 is 3 months old). But, I also know, that if a CPU has been OC'ed, it's no longer under warranty...

I would be asking why would someone want to trade you a 3Gh for a 2.6 ? That would make me specious from the start. Are you sure their 3.0 CPU is fully functional or have they been doing some serious overclocking on it?
Is there any money changing hands?
That's a very good point, and that's exactly what came to my mind as the first thing as well.
I think the reason why he wants to trade is, that a decent 2,6 GHz CPU will reach approximately the same speed as a 3.0 GHz only with a higher FSB (which will be faster)
He had a 2,6 Ghz CPU before, and he had it running @ 3,4 Ghz -which I think is pretty good.
I'm not interested in this high OC's -i just want to use the full potential of my RAM (at least FSB 216)
I don't know how hard his CPU has been clocked, so, in your opinion, would that be enough reason not to trade? (My CPU has been OC'ed as well, but I've only been running it @ 220 FSB -which isn't a lot
I really need second opinions on this matter as I'm actually pretty happy with my current CPU, but i wouldn't mind a bit of extra speed at all. As of right now, I'm leaning towards trding, but your comments has made me unsure (which is good)
He's dropping by on saturday unless i decide not to trade -so any further thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated

  • Oracle February 2013 CPU for Java SE on e-business

    Hi,
I am a bit confused about these java updates again!
Is this new & accelerated CPU for desktops and application as well? We are on R12.1.3 and I am not sure where this CPU needs to go.
When I did java -version on the apps tier, I got:
    java version "1.6.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-b33)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode)
A quick response will be appreciated please. Thanks

As I stated above, on the apps-tier when I do:
    java -version , I got:
    java version "1.6.0_10"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-b33)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b15, mixed mode)
For this CPU and others like that, does that mean i should update the apps tier java version to say e,g java version "1.7.0_13" (the latest). And the client desktop (Windows 7) to be running 1.7.0_13 as well?Correct.
Any notes that talks about the desktop and apps -tier java version? It is all in one doc which is referenced above -- Deploying Sun JRE (Native Plug-in) for Windows Clients in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 393931.1]
Once you configure the JRE plug-in on the server, the clients will be prompted to download and install it once they access the application for the first time.
Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements in (Recommended Browsers for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 389422.1]).

  • When does Oracle stop providing CPU for 11gR1?

Oracle will stopping provide CPU for 10.2 in July 2011. We are debating whether we should upgrade 10.2 to 11gR1 or 11gR2.
11gR2 requires a Kernal Version released in 2008, but the current server OS only has the 2006 version. SA wants to wait for the OS patch. Then, the only option for us DBA would be to upgrade to 11gr1 which is supported by the current OS. It makes sense if Oracle provides CPU for 11gR1 for a while. I have been trying to find out the de-supporting time, but to no avail. If this information is available, please help me out.
    Thanks,
    Jasmine

I am sorry I did not file a SR for this question.SO you turn to the community rather than the source for the CPU to get an answer about the CPU?
Not a problem, but perhaps not optimal to my way of thinking.
If you have a service contract, you normally can open any number of service requests without additional fees. And questions like you have are legitimate. (Although the Oracle Support community does respond to these questions a LOT faster than to SRs.)

  • Audio Bin - Select unused - Delete - Hangs on 100% CPU for long time

    Hi
I am running Logic Studio 9.0.2 on OS X 10.5.8 on a Mac Pro. Logic was upgraded from version 7.
In Audio Bin and "Select Unused" and then "Delete", the application might hang on 100% CPU for hours on large projects.
Anyone with an idea of what the problem might be? This was not a problem i Logic Pro 7.
    Thanks!

I have this same problem, though I'm on 10.5.7. I was hoping maybe updating the OS would help but apparently not. I also get very slow file-selection windows sometimes, like when I go to bounce a file. Navigating to a specific folder is painfully slow. Would like to hear if any Snow Leopard users are experiencing this.

  • Finder using 90% cpu for no reason?

Not sure why. Not using quicklook, Not using cover flow. Just staring at my files.

Figured it out. Turns out if "Show item info" is enabled for the desktop it will cause Finder to bug out at 100% CPU for some reason. I removed everything on my desktop except a few things (Macintosh HD, No Name volume for FAT32, 2 folders, and an application shortcut)...
This was found when I was googling the issue and a guy had a similar issue in os x 10.3 ... due to an inability for it to query the file.
at least it's fixed.. though not sure which folder caused the issues.
    Thanks guys.

  • XOrg is maxxing out my CPU for several minutes after start [UNSOLVED]

Since the last update, XOrg has been using 99% of my CPU power for about three minutes after it is started. This happens whether I am using Slim, console login, whatever; I checked with top and it is definitely X that is using up the CPU power. This happens on Debian as well as Arch.
    Here is my Xorg.0.log:
_XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/skylark:0
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6

So I reenabled "glx" and "DRI" and everything seems just fine.  I believe the culprit in my case was simply the "NoAccel" flag being false by default.
This is now what my xorg.conf looks like:
