CPU hit 100% when installing Solution Manager

During the installation, it hang at phase 34 (Start JAVA Engine) of 43. The description at bottom written :
"Starting SOL/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP:ACTIVE, Java:UNKNOWN]. Elapsed time:9:00 minutes"
When i checked the task manager, the CPU usage was shot up to 100%.
Please advice what can i do?

Which process is using that CPU?

I think you did not set display variable. Use this command & try again:-
export DISPLAY = <IP Address of presentation server>:0.0
And run ./sapinst

I am currently installing the SAP Solution Manager in a new server before I am going to install SAP XI. This is because I need the Solution Manager to generate a Key for the XI installation. I am choosing a typical installation. However, I keep hitting into Installation errors as below:

There are a total of 43 steps at the installation, and this error occurs at Step 2.
There are a few questions which I need some help:
1) Since the server is fresh, and it is a new installation, when defining parameters during installation, do I choose "Register in existing central SLD" or "Configure a new SLD"?
1a) If I need to choose "Register in existing central SLD", what values should I input for SLD HTTP Host, SLD HTTP Port, SLD Gateway Host and SLD Gateway Instant Number?
1b) If I need to choose "Configure a new SLD", what value should I input for the Object Server Name?
2) Any ideas what the errors above is about and how to solve them?

CPU hits 100% when I quit iTunes

Whenever I quit iTunes, the it pegs the CPU at 100% for 20 - 30 seconds. I've seen lots of people with CPU-hogging problems during podcast updates and ripping... anybody find an answer for this one?

It sems that this share is no more available/accessible for user SAPService<SID>.
Can you access that using
dir \\SOLMANSTM\sapmnt\STM\SYS\global\security\data\SecStore.key
in a cmd.exe?

Question for installing Solution Manager & ECC 5.0

Any idea for installing Solution Manager 3.2 on Windows server 2003 with Oracle9i problem when install Database Instance. Installation failed when the intallation progress went to Oracle Post-Load Action.
The message from startsap log file is

2.After install this, I run the sapins.exe but show me this error: INSTALL FIRST SAP J2EE ENGINE, I download the JAVA SDK from JAVA page (java_ee_sdk-5-windows) but did not fix the problem: Do you know what file is this? Or, where is it in the DVD installation?

1. Check the rights of the user with which you are installing.
2. Check if any firewall is running.
3. Check the JDK version, you should go with j2sdk1.4.2_09.

Can't Install Solution Manager on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 - JAVA

Hello everyone!
I've been trying to complete the pre-requisites in order to install Solution Manager SR2 on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 x64 - SP1.
There's only one last condition that I haven't met, and it's the Java Runtime Environment version...
I checked the recommended note 867110 and it says that i need to have installed the J2SDK 1.4.2_08.
SLES10 includes the 1.4.2_13, so I had to uninstall it, and download the right version from Sun Microsystem's official webpage.
When I installed the version 1.4.2_08, i'm not able to run SAPINST because there's no Java Runtime Environment running on the server.
I started to investigate and I found in some forums [NOT EXPLICITLY] that there's no port for J2SDK 1.4.2_08 on x64 linux systems.
I can't believe this is true because SLES10 is recommended by SAP to install Solution Manager, so I hope somebody can help me on this.
My specific question is: Does anybody know if is true that J2SDK 1.4.2_08 is NOT COMPATIBLE with x64 Linux?
In case of being true, is there any way to be able to run SAPINST ? because if I enable the version SLES brings built in, i'm able to run the SAPINST but it detects that i'm not running version 1.4.2_08 and doesn't allow me to continue installation.

You downloaded the wrong version - the one you have is for Z-Linux(Linux running on the mainframe - not for x64).
You need to download the x86_64 (or AMD64) version.
Install the correct one and try on a new console:
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
Then execute
java -fullversion
and it should show the correct version.

I checked the the software requirement for SAP Solution Manager 7.0, it only mentioned Window Server 2003 and 2008 enterprise edition.

When I ran the Solution Manager Master Installer, the Pre-requisite Checker gave a warning message saying that it detected incompatible server version, that the server version is Windows NT 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1) (I guess it meant Window Server 2008 R2).

I think it is not straight forward to install SAP Solution Manager 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2.
I am installing Solution Manager 7.0 , the installation encountered error on Create Java Users step (Phase 31 of 44). When I login to SAP solution Manager system through SAP GUI. I encountered this error:
"OS release Windows NT 6.1 7601 Service Pack 1 4x AMD64 Level 6 (Mod 44 Step 2) is not supported with this kernel (700)'
I found that it is because I am installing SAP Solution Manger 7.0 in MS Window Server 2008 R2, which the existing kernel version does not support.
Do you know which kernel I should install?

Is this the right Kernel patch I should use?
If it is the right kernel patch file, how do I apply the latest kernel to existing Solution Manager system? Can you give me some guidance on this?

Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0 CPU hit 100% on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Hyper-V

Oracle Environment Detail:
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition :11.2.0.1.0 (NON RAC, No failsafe)
O/S:     Windows 2008 R2 64 bit (6.1)
Specifics: Virtual Server using Hyper-V
Memory: 9 GB RAM
Processor: E5540
Specific about the issue:
I have two database instance created on this server with ‘memory_target=3600M’ each.
I am getting into an issue where I find NO activity on database except regular schedule job running using DBMS_SCHEDULER –
•     Database FULL export DAILY schedule time 7 & 7:30 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 15-20 mins each)
•     Database FULL RMAN DAILY schedule time 9 & 10 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 35-40 mins each)
This was set up on Feb 25th 2011. Since then we have encounter CPU hit 100% TWICE in this system at around 8:30 PM (SAME TIME). Both database instance exports keep running and never finish. While RMAN schedule job has NO problem. Mostly everything runs every smoothly without any issue.
Replicate the issue:
I am unable to replicate this issue and do not know the cause of the issue.
Work Around:
Oracle services shutdown/Server reboot.
Would anyone know about this issue? Have any information could help? This system will become production soon and want to make sure we have solution for this.

I am finding that CPU hit 100% is very specific to Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp) used to take FULL database export. I understand Original Export is desupported from general use as of 11g but available for specific need.
Have anyone faced this issue with 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp)? Please help.
I have a need to use export utility which gives us migration options.

Error at step 42/45 while install Solution Manager 4.0

Im trying to install solution manager 3.2 with oracle 9i...
I successfully created the central instance.
when creating database instance i get that error. during the load phase..I installed nonunicode installation
central instance is running. could it be that I'm using wrong code page 1100?
I'm not sure what to do its been bugging me for past few days..
And also do you know if 10g is supported with solution manager 3.2? When i installed 10g it said "no database found on this host"

Hello,
The default parameters for the JVM are not adaquate for an X64 system, and seem to be for 32 bits systems.
This means when the J2ee folder is created in usr\sap...and the JVM is started with the default java parameters on an X64 system, it will fail. The installation guide should refer you to the JVM settings, but if you are using SAPJVM, then Note 1603093 has the required parameters.
As an example the maxheap needs to be set to 2048, but it will only be set to 1024.
In order to resolve, you need to find the Note for the Java parameter settings for your JVM, be it Oracle (Sun), IBM or SAP, run the configtool to modify them accordingly.
Then once this is done re-start the install, using the existing configuration file, it will advance rapidly to the point it failed, and then start he JVM successfully. Or you can start it in the SAPMMC and once you are satisfied it will start with the parameters, restart the install. This is a better method because
it is much faster if you make a mistake and it fails on a typo in a parmeter setting.
Unfortunately you cannot set the JVM paramters prior to the JVM being created, and it has just been created at the phase in which your install has failed.

Tru Hang,
Even when 32 bit Solution Manager was supported, it is very doubtful your laptop would have the required memory or diskspace to install and run the system. You can see the system requirements in the SAP installation guides.
