CPU MIS MATCH ON DKA 790GX PLATINUM

Hi, I just installed a new AMD Phenom II (125WATT X6 1055T) on the motherboard in question. I updated the bios to the latest version of course available on the MSI website (file name: 7550v1D.zip) but unfortunately two very strange things happen. Once the system detects that you are part of the CMOS errors regarding the date within the bios system bios with the correct date, and restart the following error: "CPU MISMATCH DETECTED, FATAL ERROR, System halted". Someone help me know?
Thanks for any replies!

  • Video problems DKA 790GX Platinum

I've had some problems with my mobo as below:
    1. I have to turn on many times the PC for get video from my ATI 4890 (sapphire vapor-x 1GB)
    2. If I don't have video, I plug the vga connector to the vga output of mobo and I can see the video signal
    3. Maybe when I install new hardware (hdd, memory sticks or anything else) the bios looks like reset, and occurs the 2 points before mentioned.
    My hardware: DKA 790GX Platinum, 4 x 1GB Corsair Dominator 1066 2.1V, AMD Phenom II 955 (@3.2 Ghz), ATI Radeon HD sapphire 4890 1GB vapor-x, 2 x 1Tb Hitachi 7K1000.B.
    Thanks in advance.

Try just one memory stick in 1st DIMM close to CPU socket, then see if problem will persist.

  • Anyone using asus silent knight II on msi DKA 790GX platinum?

    hihi..
anyone using asus silent knight II on msi DKA 790GX platinum?
anyway to orient the air flow to horizontal setting. cos right now my cpu cooler was shooting up warm air to my power supply.

Oh I see.. now then know that it's ATX standard. thanks.
then how about the rear fan, is it functioning the same as PSU fan?
or is the rear fan's function is to suck out the whole system's warm air?
It's to help getting hot air out, but that is added by case builders.
Here you have the original specs: http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspecs%5Catx2_2.pdf
Case builders added extra fans because ATX standards aren't good enough for high-end systems.
However, ATX is designed to let the PSU suck out the hotair...
Anything you add to it makes it all cooler and doesn't hurt.
You should know that AMD CPU's do not get very hot at all, it's the Intels that do, especial the Pentium4, so case builders created all sorts of solutions to cool them down as ATX wasn't sufficient for the P4.
Even Intel made a new spec BTX, but that wasn't accepted by builders.

the Dram timing mode, there is DCT 0, DCT 1 and both.
    Which one should i use?
I need to change the voltage cos cpuz shows my ram running at 1.8V below the 2.1V needed to run at 1066Mhz.
    Thanks, i will try.
CPU-Z is reading the SPD tables - it is not reading the actual VDIMM voltage.

I have no good answer, just a rule of thumb: After a BIOS updae, pull power cable out and clear CMOS.
In this thread it says Kingston may not have EPP settings, but if it worked previously... Perhaps the memory controller didn't understand you had that memory to begin with?
Better ask: Is everything the same, before and after update? Why did you update?

    Description - Update CPU module.
    - Update memory module.
    - Fixed SmartFan function cannot work properly after resume from S3.
i update to v1.7 because when i first plug in the 1066Mhz RAM, it only show 800Mhz in bios, so i update to v1.7 as the update include "update memory module".
anyway my system is fine, as i have run 8 hr of memtest.
just want to know why there's no EPP option in v1.7
p/s. I think i saw EPP option in v1.6 using the same RAM.

  • MSI DKA 790GX Platinum problem

Hi !, its my first time i post a new message !, im a french guys and english its my second language... so i will try to do my best...
I bought last week a MSI DKA 790GX Platinum with Amd Phenom 2 940...
I set up all my new pc with OCZ Fatality 4 x 1g ddr2 1066 and WD 640g SATA and a Ultra 600w
First think i saw when i get out the MoBo of the plastic bag, 3 pins of the Flat circu-pipe are broken, i found the 3 spring in the bag... (i can take picture...) but the flat circu pipe stay in place with 1 pin and maybe thermal compound (no sure)... anyway the pc start #1
at the start of the pc i got the unknown processor msg like everyone cause i have the 1.2 bios version
im using the onboard VGA for bios setting, format and install Vista business 64bit.
Come on the forum and use the USB Flash technic... i do everythink you say... work perfectly, bios update to 1.6...
After a reboot like its say a the end of the bios update... I got cmos error... and cant boot anymore
i tryed to clear my cmos error with the button on the MoBo... nothing, or sometime... when i restart my pc... my screen show horizontal bar changing color to red to blue to yellow....
after 30-45min wasting time for reboot,/clear cmos/ remove battery... nothing...
I put my 8800 gt in the pci-e and magiccc.... pc start #1... work perfectly...
so dont no what happend to my onboard vga with the 1.6 bios update
Next week i will get my sapphire 4870 1g ddr5... so dont no now if i will get problem :(
Dont no if anyone here got this problem and solved,
    thank you

    Bas, Thats not the answer
His onboard vga is disabled, on the 1.6 bios update MSI have decided to disable the onboard vga by default, meaning someone either has to go and get a pci-e gfx if they haven't got one or if they lucky enough to still have an old pci gfx they can use that, they need to release a fixed 1.7 bios (as there are other areas messed up).
    johnmmclaine514,
if you've only just got the board and it was damaged, then i suggest you get it replaced, as you don't know what else could be wrong with it. And it's better to do it now as you can just do a straight swap, as later on you could be waiting for 28+ days to get it replaced.
the HD 4870 1GB should work fine, I'm running a HD 4870x2 2GB without any problems

Here is AMD's specification page for the 125 watt 9950:

The 140 watt is the same except a temp up to 64C is acceptable while the 125 watt version maxes out at 61C.  You can feed it more voltage, without it frying immediately, but AMD still says the range is 1.05v to 1.30v and you are shortening its life expectancy running higher volts.

I am trying to squeeze more out of my phenom 99950BE.
It is now stable @3.2Ghz for 10hr+ on prime 95 with 1.43V
Problem is i cant get any higher. And the max voltage from the board is only 1.45V?
even 3.3Ghz @ 1.45V results in BSOD and restarts.
Any ideas how can i push my processor further?

According to MSI's spec sheet, that appears to be correct. But... Since there aren't any processors (that I know of ) on the market that can utilize that HT speed yet, we'll just have to take MSI's word for it.
I'd be leary of trying to OC your HT bus, the downside is huge and the gains are negligible.  The current HT data bus capacity is much greater than the data output any of the devices you have.
Here's the current HyperTransport 3.0 specs:
        * 1,800 MHz = 3,600 MT/s = 7,200 MB/s
        * 2,000 MHz = 4,000 MT/s = 8,000 MB/s
        * 2,400 MHz = 4,800 MT/s = 9,600 MB/s
        * 2,600 MHz = 5,200 MT/s = 10,400 MB/s
Note that your Kuma processor uses a Stock  HT speed of 1800 MHZ.  7200 MB/s = 7.2 GB/s.
A Sata II VelociRaptor harddrive only has a capacity of delivering 3GB/s in theory.
FireWire 1600 and FireWire 3200 will have transfer rates of 1.6 and 3.2 GB/s and should out this year sometime.
USB 3.0 will be coming online in 2009 or 2010 and will have a transfer rate of 4.8GB/s.
All of these specs are the highest possible speeds, under the best laboratory conditions.
In real life, you'll never get those kinds of transfer rates.
Even if you did OC  your HT bus substantially, you wouldn't see any benefits because you already have more bandwidth than your devices can utilize.
How do you like your mobo so far? I just ordered one last night, hope to see it Saturday or Monday.
I'm still trying to decide on ram & CPU.
    sorry to drift off topic.

  • DKA 790GX Platinum - Owner Inputs

I would appreciate input from owners of this mainboard. Going to get this board along with an AMD 7750 Black edition. I was initially looking at getting the Zalman 8700 CPU cooler, but after reading some reviews, owners mention that the stock cooler unbelievably makes contact with the Northbridge cooler. CAN OWNERS CONFIRM. Anyway, I'm now looking at the Zalman 9300AT. nothing confirmed though.
    Full Crossfire or Not?
    Cheaper CPU (7750 BE) = affordable X2 Radeon Card (4850 X2).

The stock cooler that comes with the 9950 does barely touch the board's cooler, but not so much that you have to bend anything.  It still fits fine and I doubt the 7750 cooler would be bigger than the one for the 9950.  If you don't mind an installation challenge look at the core contact cooler from Sunbeam.  It fits the board great and according to Frostytech it blows any Zalman out of the water.  It's that pesky installation bracket they use that can be scary.  I know with my system temperatures are no issue at all with the Sunbeam.  Also you can Crossfire, but with two cards the two slots go down to 8X.  You would need to ask around some more on this as some say that's a deal killer while others say no card out now uses 16X anyway.  I stay with just one 3870 as my primary interest is Microsoft's FSX and you actually get lower frame rates in FSX with a Crossfire setup.  I believe FSX is more the exception than the rule.

  • DKA 790GX Platinum - HT Limit

In the Bios, Higher HT Settings are available via Multiplier, I think it has MAX Setting up to 2600Mhz. Phenoms & K10 CPU are only 1800Mhz. What is the limit? Does the board Actually support that High an HT?
In essence The only thing that will hold me back is the CPU & Memory then. AM I correct? I'd like to know, it'll make me feel safer Overclocking the Board, I guess.....

According to MSI's spec sheet, that appears to be correct. But... Since there aren't any processors (that I know of ) on the market that can utilize that HT speed yet, we'll just have to take MSI's word for it.

  • HYBRID CROSSFIRE ON DKA 790GX PLATINUM + RADEON HD 5750

    Hello everyone,
I enable the feature in question on my motherboard, but unfortunately the catalyst control panel I can not do that because it seems that the onboard video is disabled, but rather by the bios is enabled. I installed the latest ATI drivers disponbile site, the vers. 4.10 but nothing changes.
Perhaps with the card HD 5750 is not possible to enable this feature, or by bios I enable something else to activate?
Thank you all for any replies,

Hybrid Crossfire is not possible with HD5750.
