CPU peaks 35-40% while loading page - very unresponsive

After upgrading to 10.0.2 my browser has become very unresponsive while loading pages/opening blank tabs.
I've already tried safe mode with all plugins deactivated and a full reinstall.
My plugins are up to date, I do not use custom themes and it doesn't matter what kind of page I'm loading. Seems like its the engine itself.
Running a Win7 x64 notebook - I did not have this issues before the latest update.

It would be worth experimenting with turning Hardware Acceleration on and off. If you have HA enabled but it is not working properly it is likely to cause problems. (If you are using FlashPlayer video that has its own controls for setting HA on or off). To turn HA off in ordinary browsing use
* Firefox Button -> Options -> | Advanced | -> | General | -> [] Use Hardware acceleration when available
** see [[Options window - Advanced panel]]
* you may also wish to see if the Graphics drivers will update
** see [[How do I upgrade my graphics drivers?]]
* you may also be interested in this article, including a test that you can run <br/>http://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/
It is looking like some of the problems could relate more to the system, than to Firefox.

    Thank you for the link, but I am not sure how this is going to help me: I am not booting straight to an X session, but prefer to log into TTY1 and have my login shell handle everything from there.
    Here is the relevant part of my .zprofile:
    if (( UID )); then
    [[ -z $DISPLAY && $XDG_VTNR -eq 1 ]] && exec systemd --user
    fi
    As far as I understand, your method works if I enable the [email protected] template when actually booting straight to X.

    My iPad 2 loads pages very slowly, especially on Facebook . It used to load instantly, now can take a minute or longer.

    Try using the Facebook app instead.

  • Notice says "connection reset while loading page retry"

    When I try to open my firefox page, page starts trying to connect,after sometime box/message comes up "connection has been reset while loading page"
    Try again.
    have tried several times but same response

    The "The connection was reset" error message can be caused by a bug fix for the BEAST (Browser Exploit Against SSL/TLS) attack that the server doesn't handle.

  • Safari Status Bar, no information while loading page

    This isn't new and I apologize if this has already been answered elsewhere but I looked and didn't find an obvious answer.  In past versions (?) Safari's status bar at the bottom of the browser window used to show information about page loading progress while the page was attempting to load.  Items like
    x out of y items complete (or loaded or something like that)
    used to be displayed...
    Now, and for some time now, nothing...  Why???
    Now, there is nothing but the blue progress bar that moves left to right in the URL box while the page is loading...  As long as it's moving, then I can say progress is happening...  However, often the blue bar stops for quite a long time and by habit I still find myself looking down to the status bar to see what it says and it says nothing...
    Again, this isn't new now but I'm just now getting curios enough to ask about it...
    Am I doing something wrong or do I need to take some addtional steps to get useful information out of the status bar???
    What's up with the Safari Status Bar???
    thanks...

    But what about when a page is loading and the blue progress bar in the URL window stalls.  Anytime that happens I look down to the status bar and where it used to offer useful information, now it offers nothing.  What happened to that???  Is there anyway to get info on a seemingly stalled load of a page???
    thanks...  bob...

  • LSP causes firefox to load pages very slowly

    I'm a developer for a company that produces content filtering software. Our filtering component is an LSP that monitors network traffic. For some time now, we've been experiencing periodic issues with Firefox and our LSP.
    This is not a crash, and Firefox is not frozen. But when you try to load a page, Firefox comes to a point where it just spins trying to access the same socket over and over again. Clearly our LSP is doing something that Firefox doesn't like, but eventually Firefox breaks out of the spinning and loads the page.
    I'd like to know if there is someone involved with Firefox development that I can communicate with to resolve this issue.

    Hi coverton,
    I did pm you:
    You may not easily see this. Initially I do no want to answer your question on the forum, as an answer may then deter others from replying. This is not something that I understand but my suggestions are:
    you say for some time you have had a problem <br>
    if this is a Firefox regression which version did it occur on <br>
    file a bug on bugzilla https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=dupes|Firefox
    <br> or you may in fact find it is a known issue, an example of a bug fixed in Firefox 13 is
    <br>Bug 712363 - SSL connections do not work correctly when not managed by the socket transport service (including especially when the socket is not non-blocking)
    <br>have a look through the mailing lists and forums you may find a useful one http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/
    <br>also consider looking on the various mozillazine forums http://forums.mozillazine.org/index.php
    This sort of problem is probably slightly outside the range of problems we attempt to solve on this forum.
    My view is that basically if the problem clearly does not exist in one version of firefox, but does from a certain later version then there was some sort of change, and if that was not intentional it is a regression and appropriate to file a bug for. <br/> ( If the change was intentional there will almost definitely be a bug filed documenting the change. )
    If you do post a bug suggestions would be
    * First try it in the latest nightly just in case the problem was fixed. http://nightly.mozilla.org/
    *Try to narrow down a regression window,<br/>so please test in Firefox 10 and 11.
    *There is a tool for narrowing down regressions by automatically downloading a bissected range of Nightly builds and running them in turn with a dialogue to confirm or otherwise that there is a problem (last time I tried the tool I had a problem with it but it was probably user error, or is now fixed )
    ** see https://github.com/mozilla/mozregression
    Obviously you will need to rule out that it is due to changes in third party software, and to demonstrate the problem you will need some reproducible steps, so it could be appropriate to try discussing the problem on a forum in order to build some sort of test case prior to filing a bug.
    As you have asked here it would be useful to know what happens so please post back if you file a bug or find a forum or mailing list that provides a solution.
    Good Luck
    P.S. <br/> I note you filed '''''Bug 756216 - LSP Causes Firefox to Load pages slowly '''''

  • Firefox hangs while loading pages.

    When loading a new page (not always in a new tab, not always an additional tab or tabs, but it seems to happen more when opening multiple tabs) the little rotating circle will either remain dark and if an attempt is made to reload the location bar changes to new tab, losing the address in the location bar, or the rotating circle will go one way, then reverse, then continue to spin. At the bottom of the page where what is being loaded in a page shows it will hit on one thing (as I'm writing this in Chrome I'm loading a folder of bookmarks I've been loading daily for years that now is a nightmare and pages are stuck at "connected to ajax.googleapis.com," "connected to hell.myfonts.net," "waiting for dt.adsafeproteted.com," "connected to log.pinterest.com," "connected to cdn.syndication.twimg.com," "waiting for api.lanistaads.com," "waiting for www.projectwonderful.com," "transferring data from v4.moatads.com," "waiting for aax.amazon-adsystem.com," "connected to aax.amazon-adsystem.com," and the other three pages are stuck trying resolve the actual URL) and then refuse to go any further. After that the page will sit, unchanging, as best as I can tell forever. I've left a page loading for several hours while working and it was still connecting to googleanalytics when I came back. It does the same in safe mode. Not a single page in the book marked folder is loading, NOT ONE. They're all sitting and spinning either with blank pages or partially loaded. I will reiterate before someone suggests I not load so many pages at once that I've been loading this particular folder full of pages for at least five years and probably longer and it did not do this until the last month.
    This has been going on for a while and has made Firefox worthless. It is getting worse. I have read every similar question and none of the answers has made a bit of difference.
    I have tried safe mode.
    I have refreshed Firefox.
    I have uninstalled Firefox and installed the latest version.
    I have cleaned my registry.
    I have cleaned my cache (which was almost empty anyway).
    I have deleted all temporary files that were not in use on my computer.
    I have deleted the install folder in Programs(x86) and then reinstalled the latest version (this made everything even worse and resulted in no secured connections being available at all, including mozilla.org giving me not safe connection warnings so now Firefox is even less useful than before) and currently have no add-ons or themes installed.
    I have run Spybot, Malwarebytes, Housecall, and several rootkit detectors with no luck.
    This computer is less than a year old, is running Windows 8.1 and is up to date. I just installed Firefox v 37.0. When I went to look and see what the version was Firefox can't even seem to resolve its own update URL.

    ---------------------

    I get an e-mail with go-comics and the ones I want to post links to I'll open in the browser as I read them in the e-mail so I regularly have a dozen tabs open (all the same site) by the time I'm through the e-mail. Every third or fourth page will hang up on something (connecting to or waiting for) sometimes not loading a single image, sometimes loading half the page, sometimes loading everything but the comic (because, hey, why put that as the first thing to load when you've got all these ads and crap to throw at your paying customers?).
    At some point a couple of months ago I got some malware associated with trovisearch (I do not know how that got past security and java blocker but it did, probably some hidden crap in something from CNET) that somehow spoofed a page for Housecall and added five or six pieces of malware and adware. I cleaned for two days after and still can't find anything left on the computer even though I've been running scans constantly to try to make Firefox work right. I downloaded and ran a scan using Kaspersky during that time and then uninstalled it. That very well may be the cause of the post-refresh SSL issue.
    I have Spybot and Malwarebytes scan logs from the time of the infection if that would help in any way. It doesn't look like there's a way to attach .xml files in this forum, though.
    I can also run hijack this and copy and paste if that would help.
    I'm currently running Windows Defender and rely on that and Noscript and adblocker plus to keep me isolated from most attacks (I don't have those add-ons re-installed yet). I also run Peerblock because they add malicious sites and known hacking sources (like Chinanet) to what they block as well as all the fake p2p stuff that's constantly pinging the computer. If I'm treading around in perilous waters I run Sandboxie.
    Chrome is working as normal but Firefox feels like dial-up or worse right now and without adblocker I might as well be using IE.

  • Firefox 28, 29 and 30 load pages very slowly - Google Chrome is OK on the same PC...?

    Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Precision 340, Pentium 4, 2GB RAM, two GeForce MX4000 graphics cards, AVG Internet Security 2014. Broadband connection with download speeds up to about 27Mb/s.
    I get the same symptoms on a homebuilt system with an almost identical spec.
    Internet pages with any graphics at all load very slowly. Reliable websites like BBC News can take at least 30 seconds to open, making Firefox unusable for surfing.
    Google Chrome, on the same PC, opens the same pages in about 4 seconds.
    Firefox running under Ubuntu Studio 9, on the homebuilt PC, is also fine, so I don't think it's my internet connection.
    Firefox 30, on Windows 7 64-bit Professional with Norman Endpoint Security, is fine on my work laptop.
    What's slowng down Firefox 30 on my Windows XP machines please?

    Sorry you are having problems. Thanks for a good descriptive post. There is a testcase; see under; does the globe spin slowly ?

  • Fetching record from table and displaying in JSP while loading page -struts

    Hi all,
    I have a problem relating to struts .
    I am fetching records from database and I want to diaplay those records in corresponding fields in the jsp page.
    I am using Struts MVC Framework.
    I am giving the sample code below.
    In my action class i am giving the following code.
    String sql="Select empname from emp where empcode='1' ";
    ResultSet rs=S.executeQuery(sql);
    if(rs.next()){
    EditForm e=new EditForm();
    e.setEmpname(rs.getString(1));
    In my Action Form
    I gave setter and getter methods for Empname
    public String getEmpname() {
    return empname;
    public void setEmpname(String empname) {
    this.empname = empname;
    In my jsp gave
    <html:form method="POST" action="submitForm.do?action=1" >
    <html:text property="empname" />
    </html:form>
    The targets given are correct and it is being redirected.
    But the value is not displaying in the textbox while the jsp is loading.
    There is a record for the sql query.
    Anybody please help me out
    It is very urgent
    Thank You
    Parvathy

    Now in the following code, why are u creating a new form?
    Why dont you use the form which is input to the Action Class's execute methof?
    if(rs.next()){
    EditForm e=new EditForm();
    e.setEmpname(rs.getString(1));
    }Thanks and regards,

  • Safari 8.0 loads pages very slow

    Why does Safari 8.0 load webpages so slow now that I have installed OS X 10.10 - even the Apple.com page is painfully slow to load.

    Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
    Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
    If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
    Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
    Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
    If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
    If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
    Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photos, if it's checked. Any change?
    Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
    If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
    If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • Firefox and Thunderbird are using a lot of memory and load pages very slowly!

    CPU levels are going through the roof when using Thunderbird and Firefox.
    Both programs are freshly installed on a new and also freshly installed version of windows 7!
    Loading of my pages is taking forever and most pages don't load at all.
    My email is [email protected]
    My notebook got so hot that it turned itself off!
    Memory is above 250 KB for firefox and Thunderbird above 150 kb!

    I do not have a ComObjects folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files. That is not part of Firefox.
    wscript.exe is a utility included with Windows to run scripts at the system level. It generally is not used by major programs. If update.exe is starting up with Windows, you may be able to find the script that wscript.exe is running using [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx Autoruns].
    It definitely sounds viral. I suggest deleting the update.exe file, although Windows might prevent you from doing that until you kill all related processes. And if you have a persistent infection, the file may be restored or re-downloaded.
    It might be easiest to seek assistance from a forum more dedicated to malware cleanups such as the following:
    * [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum22.html Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs - BleepingComputer.com]
    * [http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 Malware Removal - MajorGeeks Support Forums]

  • Firefox 4.0 loads pages very slowly - will this be fixed soon?

    I upgraded to version 4.0 and it is much slower in page loading then any of your previous versions. Are you going to be fixing this problem soon? Or do I need to look for a different web browser to use... Very disappointing! So much for FASTER than before - NOT!

    It will work again if McAfee does a full update...

  • Firefox is slow in responding to commands and loads pages very slowly.

    I'm unable to use Firefox most of the time because commands are slow in running( like Scrolling down a page.). Most pages take forever to load and while they are doing so. Navigation crawls to a stop. I'm now using Chromium by Google because it's faster and I can continue to work the page while it finishes loading.

    Thanks for replying Sisham.
    My system meets all the requirements. I agree with you that with a better hardware installed the software will be much more usable, but I feel that, since my system is OK with the requirements, Illustrator should work much better, at least on the basic tasks. I'm especially concerned because Illustrator CS6 worked fine, and that version of Illustrator has got the same system requirements, so I'm not sure that with a better hardware the program would run normally.
    There's no difference in managing complex files with multiple linked images or small low resolution files with a couple of objects: I have this delay in zooming and panning, selecting, moving objects...
    I'm wondering if I should check any specific setting inside the program.

  • Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1 loads pages very slowly with Windows XP 64 bit version

    Our company has purchased Dell Precision T3500 workstations with Intel XEON processor and 6 Gb of RAM. The operating system is Windows XP 64-bit version. The systems came with Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.3.1. Each one of these workstations load PDF files into Acrobat very slowly. Does anyone have a answer why?

  • Baffling - Safari Rolling Up My External Drives While Loading Page

    Does anyone have any idea why when I try to open up a web page with Safari, before it will load Safari seems to be rolling up my external hard drives from their sleep mode and won't load the page until they are active and spinning? This is quite baffling to me as I'm not trying to save anything or would require anything off these drives to look at a web page. Has done it on multiple pages - Facebook, Twitter, others. This is new since I upgraded to Lion. I have 1Password installed as an extention, and that's about it. It's really slowing down my surfing (wait, does anyone call it surfing anymore?).

    This is the way computers work. This is not new since you upgraded to Lion, u just may have not noticed it before, and harddrives spinning is a good thing and normal. U might have other problems however. Anyway, I won't go into it here, but you can google how harddrives work and interact with apps on google.
