CPU rated as low as 4.0, normal or abnormal? T410 system ratings by Windows Experience Index

I got my new T410 this morning. After initialization, I ran the win7 rating program, got low scores. Someone told me the CPU score should be over 6.0. My question: is the following score of the i5-520M CPU normal? It even changed to 3.9 after I updated the windows and ThinkVantage. Something I missing or something wrong? processor:             4.0
Memory:                  5.5
graphics:                4.4
gaming graphics: 5.2
hard disk:               5.9 The main configurations:Intel Core i5-520M Processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3, 1066MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD - AMT
3 GB PC3-8500 DDR3

I assume you ran both assessment with the AC plugged in?  (Mine won't run when on battery). I would check the ThinkVantage Power Manager settings, specific to the plan you are using. There's quite a few. As well, there are additional settings in Windows Power options, under "Change Advance Power settings" And finally, you can check the BIOS under Config -> Power. Many of these are mirrored in ThinkVantage tools. My i520M gets a Processor rating of 6.7. I have the 65W power brick.

  • [x121e] Low CPU Windows Experience Index

    Hi,
I'm looking for an explanation of my CPU Windows Experience Index which is limited to 3,4.
I've read some topics which linked this low index to the battery (for example here : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/x121e-ThinkPad-Windows-Experince-Index-Low-pro...)
But... With or Without the battery, with or without the AC adaptator plugged, the CPU WEI is always 3,4.
Does anyone have the same problem ?

    Hey Flippy18,
I would suggest you try a 90w adaptor, we know that you don't have I7 processor so your issue isn't exactly what was in the forum thread you linked too and I read. Yet the same holds to you that any computer that thinks it has less power it will clock itself down to conserver power.
Here is link to a 90w adaptor if you don't have one.

  • W520 long boot time 1 min 30 sec and low Windows Experience Index score 4.6

    Hi
W520 said is EE (Enhanced Experience 2), booting in 1 min 30 sec !! that's long for me !!
Is there I can change to make it boot faster or that is normal?
Also, Isn't the processor Windows assessment score should be greater than 4.6 and
for the memory greater than 7.2 ??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

4-5 minute boot is sloooowww!!  90 seconds is even slow on a new laptop.  My 4.5 year old Core2Duo at 2GHz with a 7200rpm HD boots Windows 7, including a bunch of programs at startup, in less than a minute.  When I get a W520 I'm expecting it to take less than that.

The WEI and Optimus act a little funny together. Your numbers look normal for Optimus Mode. In Optimus, "graphics" part seems to only use the integrated HD3000 (because the HD3000 is the default graphics chip) and the "gaming graphics" will use the NVS4200. If you want to see the score go up, change the BIOS options to turn Optimus autodetect off and put it into nVidia mode only. If you do that, you'll see that your graphics will go up to about 5.2.

  • Macbook air cpu charge is lower than 5%, but temperature is more than 90°C and fans don't speed up ! is it normal ?

    hello,
my macbook air cpu charge is lower than 5% (i.e. no apps are loaded only the finder, istat menu give me a cpu charge near 3%),
but temperature is more than 90°C and fans don't speed up !
    is it normal ?

    It is degrees C.
when the computer has a normal behavour with no CPU charge, its temp is about 35°C
but sometimes temp increase to 90°C and more.
because i don't heard the fan speed increasing (I almost don't heard the fan so i think they should stay at 2000rpm), I'm afraid to burn the CPU and shut down the mac
i didn't let him get hotter.

  • Hello i buy  a new macbook air white i5 ivy bridge processor and when i play a game the cpu themperature is 88-100 c its normal?

Hello i buy  a new macbook air white i5 ivy bridge processor and when i play a game the cpu themperature is 88-100c it is normal?

One thing I should add. While "normal", it doesn't make it preferrrable that you should be always running near the maximum capability of the unit. The new 2012 MBA's are outfitted with CPU's that have a maximum running temp of 115 degrees C. (the 2011's were rated at 100 degrees C.)
At, or near this point, the CPU will shut down the system to safeguard from overheating. Right under this point the system's fan will be running at top speed. Any mechanical device, run at or near it's capability will undergo accelerated wear. Just how much in this situation is unknown. as such, I don't use my MBA as a full-time gaming rig. I try and keep it sensible.
The MBA is not really designed for gaming, but it's competent performance sometimes lures us to use it as such.

  • "CPU power is low" message

While working on our g4, a message pops up and says "CPU power is low". Has anyone gotten a similar error? How do I know what I have and what I need to upgrade to?
    Any help would be appreciated.

It would really help to know more about the computer other than a generic G4 which covers a lot of models. Processor(s), speed, RAM, etc.? It would also help to know what you are doing, what software you are using, when this message comes up.
I see one other reference to this message on the net, with reference to using ProTools. If you have an old computer and are trying to do high powered processing (e.g. on the fly compression) it is possible the software you are using is saying there's not enough processing power available for the software to work at full or required speed. Try closing other applications while you are working with your software.

  • X121e ThinkPad Windows Experince Index. Low processor score.

I have got a X121e Thinkpad, the i3 2367M processor version. With the laptop plugged into the mains with the 6cell  battery removed I ranthe Windows Experince Index. The score I got for the processor was just 3.4 other users have reported theirs to be much higher. Why is my score so low, only had this machine a week. I was told it could be because I was using the laptop with the battery removed, could this be the issue? I had a different brand of laptop before and it never affected it so I had to ask.

Without the battery, and running off the 65W AC adapter only your thinkpad will automatically clock down your CPU. If you run the test again with the battery with or without the charger your score will be around 5.2.
The answer can be found here..http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/ThinkPad-CPU-runs-at-reduced-maximum-clock-spe...
If you wish to have maximum CPU clock speed without the battery fitted you will need a 90W AC adapter. I bought an original Lenovo one off fleabay for 19 quid. Job done.

  • Why is the Lumia Icon's ringtone lower than when previewing the ringtone in settings/system/ringtone sounds? (The volume is set at 30 in all cases.)

Why is the Lumia Icon's (929) ringtone lower than when previewing the ringtone in settings/system/ringtone+sounds? (The volume is set at 30 in all cases.)

    Hello Lena,
    Yes, tried all those things.
After going back and forth with Verizon's "tier 2" technical support over the last 2 days, a chat session with Nokia, no call-backs-as-promised by your technicians, then having them reinstall the phone's software -that didn't fix the problem. So they are sending me a re-manufactured replacement phone. But not a NEW ONE, because I didn't realize the problem within 14 days. You see at first, I just figured the phone had lousy volume, until I was previewing ringtones when setting the alarm clock. The phone is about one and a half months old. I have expressed my desire that a NEW phone be sent, but NO says Verizon.
I've spent enough time, in good faith, Verizon would solve this matter, but in the process of their re-installing the software they've screwed up Backup Assistant.
    Thanks.

  • Low experience index on Vista Ultimate

I just received my new iMac 24" 3.06 GHz yesterday. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate edition (32 bit) successfully and then installed Bootcamp 2.0 drivers from the CD came with the machine. Everything runs perfectly. I then discovered that the experience index is rated as 1.0, it stays this way even I pressed the link to update the score for several times. The scores for "Graphics" and "Gaming grpahics" are all 0. I don't know what's wrong. The driver of the graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory) was installed successfully, I can see it from the device manager. I really appreciate any help you provide to solve this issue. Thank!
    Howard

I had my problem solved, the rating now is 5.6. Here is how I solved the problem. I did a search thru google regarding this problem and found the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?id=933478
    I followed the procedure #4:
    1. Click Start, type the following path in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER:
    %SYSTEMROOT%\Performance\WinSat\DataStore
    2. Delete all the .xml files in the folder.
    3. Follow the steps in method 1.
I post the solution here for anybody who experiences the same problem.

  • Upgraded RAM, now lower windows exp index

So I just upgraded to Crucial DDR3 pc3-8500 1066, 2x2gb sticks from the lower 2gb Apple stuff my mbp came with. I just reran the experience index in win 7 and gaming graphics went from a 5.3 to a 4.3 after the Ram upgrade, no other driver or software change was made. The RAM is of equal speed/quality than the previous 2gb 2x1gb micron sticks. Any thoughts? (Windows does see 4gb of RAM installed)

more ram, could mean longer load times. But after the load you may have better graphic, but those graphic may render slower.

  • Exporting for DVD requires extremely low volumes, is that normal?

    Hi,
I have completed a project and when exporting to dvd I find I need to lower the master volume by 18 db for it to not cause tv speakers to pop, I try it out on several different tv's with the same result.
When I mix my audio none of it exceeds 0 db, nothing is in the red and nonetheless I lowered by 6 db, but it won't be enough until I export at -18 Db.
I do this by lowerng the master audio level from 0 to -18.
    Is this normal?

    Hunt, thanks for the reply!
I do the same, well I use beyer dynamic dt 770 pro headphones for monitoring, then I test the audio out on a stereo and a 5.1 surround setup.
If I export the audio on a cd it sounds great everywhere, put it on dvd and it goes to hell.
Is it possible that audio cd's are at 44100 16 bit wheras dvd audio is 48000 khz?
Doesn't make much sense to me, but the way I see it the irony is this:
Play and audio cd where the audio peaks at 0db through your tv and it sounds great, play a dvd with the same audio on it and it kills the speakers :S
Is it possible that mpeg2 encoding boosts audio levels for some reason and you need to correct it by pushing audio levels down?
I found this link after doing some research:
    http://dvcreators.net/discuss/showthread.php?t=25404
    Basically this question was asked:
    1. *is there a certain db level an audio track should be if you plan to burn to DVD?
    amongst others,
    The reply was:
Use the audio meters to gauge audio level. Peaks should be at -16 to -12.
Why is this do you think?
-2 db would not work when I burn to dvd, it would kill the speakers of either a surround system or a stereo tv system, including my samung hdtv.
When I export to dvd I first export from premiere the built in Mpeg-2 DVD setting and then use either windows dvd maker or idvd on my mac to burn to dvd.

  • X200 CPU reaches 100 celsius degrees. is this normal?

I'm using LenovoThinkVantage Toolbox to do a CPU stress test and and the same time I'm running TPFanControl to monitor the speed of the fan and the temperature of the CPU.
When I run the CPU stress test the temperature of the CPU reaches 100 degrees celcius with the fan going at 7000rpms which all of it sounds excessive and not right to me. Is this normal? or there is something wrong with my system.
    Thanks in advance

100C is around the maximum the CPU can deal with before sustaining damage.  Even then, running at that temperature for extended periods of time is most certainly going to be problematic.
I can't imagine it was designed to be run that way, so I'm guessing there's a problem.  Maybe a heatsink is not seated properly, or something is obstructing airflow.  Either way, I'd say that if you're under warranty it's worth having the depot take a look.

  • Is it possible to control CPU fan speed (lower) with K8T NEO2-FIS2R (MS-6702)?

    I have:
    MSI K8T NEO2-F motherboard
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ processor
Bios is latest I found, AMI BIOS 9.20
Operating system is Windows XP pro.
Processor was boxed and with the normal amd fan.
Processor fan is plugged in CFAN slot.
My problem is that the cpu fan spins a bit too fast. Cpu temp stays at 25C and fan is spinning at 1800 rpm.
Setting manual mode from corecenter didn't change the fan speed at all. Not up or down. Neither can SpeedFan program. But if I stress the cpu, the fan starts spinning faster.
What is controlling the fan speed and can I manually control it?
There are no control options in bios.
If I missed any information, please do ask more.

    Hi,
Core Center is crap, you can't do anything else with that than uninstall.
Speedfan works. You'll have to set "PWM 2" from "thermal cruise" to "manual control" somewhere in the advanced configuration menu, I don't remember where you can find that. The help file provided with speedfan is quite good, I strongly recommend reading it carefully. Using speedfan you can also control a second fan connected to the SFAN-connectors.
The built-in fan control sets the speed of the CPU fan to 2/3 of its nominal RPM value (my fan starts at 2100/min, max is something about 3300/min or so). Its speed increases quite late, on my system at temperatures above 50°C. And it increases quite slowly.

  • My cpu temperature showing 84'c. is it normal, my cpu temperature showing 84'c. is it normal

temperature of mu macbook pro showing is 84'c. is it normal?
I can't keep my laptop on my lap as it is very warm.

Before downloading SMC Fan Control as per the suggestion of ivanhernandezeuropa you should check first why the computer is showing such temperatures.  My first step would be to use Activity Monitor to check if there were a runaway process.  Flash is a possible culprit.  If there is some application using large amounts of CPU capacity, it may be a good idea to quit that (if necessary Force Quit) then see how the temperatures and fans react.
I have the 13" and the 15" MacBook Pro and these both get a bit warm sometimes.  Usually, the cause is a process, like mds which may appear when Spotlight is indexing; and of course Flash (often a problem).
Putting the notebook computer on your lap is not really recommended and recent research suggests that you could suffer more than burned knees.
Check too that the fan vents are not obstructed in any way.
